Kyou no Kira-kun [Chapter 31]

Page 31 – LOVE SEARCHLIGHT. Nino was told by Kira’s father that Kira’s heart had stopped. Yabe and Rei were ushered by Nino’s mother to her room and they found Nino downcast while sitting on the floor. Yabe exclaims what it is, Kira isn’t dead, right? Nino tearfully says yes, after his heart stopped beating, they immediately performed heart resuscitation, and started the emergency surgery.

Kyou no Kira-kun [Chapter 30]

Page 30 – Endless Game. Narration: “It is already approximately three months since Kira-kun left for the United States.” While Sensei is sleeping, Nino is video-chatting via the internet with Kira. Kira says that rainy season ought to be almost over in Japan. Nino agrees but it is still very hot and stuffy that she feels that summer is fast approaching. Kira says is that so and he didn’t think that in a blink of an eye, time has already passed. While holding a pair of scissors, Kira tells her that basically it is because there are so many examinations before the surgery so he came here early but he didn’t imagine that he passed the days quite substantially. Nino tells him that she felt that his complexion lately isn’t quite good so how is his body condition today. He tells her that it is generally because he practically wasn’t able to go out. He explains that the apartment where he lives is within the hospital so, he can live without the need of going out much. Nino says is that so, then she can relax over that. Kira changes the topic by saying that he is somewhat worried about Rei and Yabe so how are they getting along since then. Nino says that it is quite regrettable that there is totally no progress. She tells him that after school dismissal, Yabe seems to go home to concentrate on drawing manga. Kira says is that so, and he still wants them to go steady as soon as possible. Nino agrees with him. Then, Nino looks at his hand that is holding the pair of scissors. She asks him since the start [of their conversation] why he is always holding those pair of scissors. Kira is surprised by that and he says, that’s right and he was doing his ‘assignment’ just now. Nino is puzzled by this. Kira nervously says that it is nothing and it must be already quite late at her side so they end their chat up to here for now. Nino agrees and says that she’ll see him tomorrow. Before Nino closes her laptop, Kira tells her to wait. He winks and asks her to give him a kiss. This surprises Nino and she blushes. And, they kiss each other on the computer screen. Narration: “Even if we are separated, but our hearts are still tightly close together.” After Kira closes his laptop computer, he blushes and thinks that Nino is also quite cute today. He mutters, “My complexion gave me away, huh?” Narration: “By the way, on the side of life at school..after moving up to second year [high school], classes have changed and right now, I’m all alone.”

Kyou no Kira-kun [Chapter 29]

Page 29 – Shirushi [which can mean mark, sign or proof. I think it is based on Mr. Children’s song which you might want to check out the lyrics after reading this summary ^^] Cover page: “It’s quite warm with you at my side, I don’t want to lose this time.” Narration: “Preparations to go to the Unites States is complete. Only two days left before he leaves, although this kind of Kira..” Kira is singing while pretending a broom is a guitar. Yabe comments that he’s in high spirits the whole day. Kira says that it is because it’s almost a week since he didn’t come to school. Yabe says that moving takes a lot of time and then, he collapsed again after catching a cold. Haykuta and Ikigoma calls out to Kira and Yabe about having a class celebration after tomorrow’s graduation ceremony. Nino and Rei would go if they would go and they also plan to also make it a type of farewell party for Kira. Kira agrees to go. Yabe protests that squirrel girl is from a different section. After Rei watches them, she asks Nino if Kira told everyone about it. Nino says that he did but he pretty much specifically say that he is going for some examination, and it really feels that it is like that. Kira notices Nino looking at him that he smiles and flashes a v-sign. Narration: “Lately, Kira-kun is always smiling from ear to ear. A few days ago, for the expenses of the surgery, they have also sold their house. *While putting his books in a box, smiling Kira said that he already doesn’t have a face to show his father.* --he would smile and say that as if heaving a sigh of relief.”

Kyou no Kira-kun [Chapter 28]

Page 28 – Wild @ Heart. Cover page: “This world is [a] Wonder Land☆ With only you at my side, I won’t be afraid no matter what kind of adventure it is!” Colored page with Sensei making a ‘Jojo [Bizarre Adventure] Stand/Pose’: “Even if it is a bit rude, but I think that people have one or two secrets. And perhaps, I also have one?” After Kira told Nino in the church that there is that choice of getting surgery abroad, Nino is pacing back and forth at Kira’s room with Sensei watching on. Kira enters and tells her that he has finished talking with his dad. Nino asks what he said. Kira said that his dad told him that he’ll support his decision. Relieved Nino says is that so, then that means that it is decided. Sitting on his bed, Kira says ya, from tomorrow on, he’ll start preparing for the procedure so he would temporarily taking a leave of absence from school. “Even if I would want to go early but it would take around a month or so. Our classmates should also notice it and the time to be honest about it has come.. *looks at Nino* In the end, it’s quite rattling. *Nino is surprised* After telling Yabe about it at that time, you and Yabe have the same kind of expression. Rei looks quite calm.” After looking flustered, Nino sits beside him and says that she’s really happy, so happy upon knowing that he’ll be saved. “But, I’m quite concerned the way you said, ‘the gambling odds of success are very low’.” Kira says ya, so until now, he avoided facing that issue as much as possible. “If it failed, it is all over in one second.” Nino looks sad over this. Bumping his head on Nino’s forehead, Kira says, “But, didn’t I mention it. Nino, you gave me hope so many times *slight smile at her* It made me also want to see the day when that dream comes true. On summer, let’s go to the beach together and happily frolicking around under the sun, then on autumn, let’s climb Mount Fuji together and watch the sunrise. *holds her hand* Compared to having some negative way of thinking, I would rather think of such things. If you can also think this way, I would have more strength.” Looking at Kira, moved Nino clenches her fist and exclaims that what he said is right. Sweatdropping Kira says, “Ha- but, *lies down in bed* I would become super poor. The surgery is super expensive that it is possible that I’ll be in debt. After I get older and can work, I’ll have to pay for it. After all, it is a life that is saved [in exchange].”

Kyou no Kira-kun [Chapter 27]

Cover page: “When I’m with you, I can FLY up the SKY.” Page 27 – Marry You. Nino is stunned to see unconscious Kira lying down on the floor. Sensei looks tense. Nino bends down to Kira. She tries to wake him up while calling out his name. Kira wakes up and he is somewhat puzzled. While Nino calls out his name in relief, Kira sits up and asks if he has collapsed. Sensei tells Nino to quickly call an ambulance. Holding her cellphone, Nino says yes, she is doing that now. Holding his head, dizzy Kira tells her to wait, it is only an ordinary anemia and he doesn’t want to cause a ruckus. Nino tells him to quickly go to the hospital. Kira says, ya. Yabe and Rei arrive to ask what the matter is. Upon seeing the scene, they immediately realized what happened. Rei tells Yabe to go to Mio and tell her to get the car. Rei says that she’ll be contacting the doctor at the hospital. Yabe rushes to go and do it. Nino exclaims that she’ll leave it up to them. While sitting and leaning on the wall, Kira apologizes to Nino. Nino looks very worried. That night, Nino couldn’t sleep. Seeing her awake, Sensei flies down to her and asks if she couldn’t sleep. He says that in the end, Kira was confined for two nights for examination as a precaution. “His father went with him so relax.” Nino says that even if she knows that it is of no use to be quite worried but at that moment, she truly felt that she couldn’t do anything and she felt quite helpless. Sensei tells her that is not true, and it is fine for her to just do what she can do. Nino is still troubled so Sensei offers to sleep with her. Nino is glad about that. Recalling what she saw on the note, Nino thinks that the thing that she can do..it would be good if she can fulfill Kira’s wish. At the hospital, Kira is sitting up on his bed when his father arrives. He tells Kira that he talked with Nino on the phone and tomorrow, she is going to get him. He mentions that Nino wants to see him quickly. Kira tells him that possibly, it would be soon when he can no longer go to school. Tiara looks surprised then serious. He tells Kira that even if he always avoid that topic as much as possible but he still don’t plan on telling it to Nino. Kira says that hasn’t it been such a long time that he already made that choice that he absolutely won’t have any expectation. At the train station, Kira and Nino are holding hands. It is quarter to 12pm. Kira has informed Nino that he’ll have to go to the hospital every week. He tells her that as a precaution, he plans to be absent for school tomorrow and then, avoid sports [/strenuous activities] as much as possible, so other than that, everything is the same as usual. Nino says that she understands. She happily tells him that during the time she’s with him at his house, they can watch his favorite DVD together. This make Kira smile.

Kyou no Kira-kun [Chapter 26]

Page 26 – Puppy love. Yabe Kazuhiro, 16 years old has somewhat matured in terms of friendship but on the side of love, ... After the end of the opening ceremony, everyone is shock over Kira and Yabe becoming friends again and they seem to be closer. Yabe shows Kira a picture of Arashi the cat and Kira asks him to send that picture to him. Smiling Yabe thinks that he is in an unexceptionally good mood. While some guys call Yabe stupid and a traitor, Yabe thinks that one day, he can reconcile with them. Nino, together with Rei, calls out to Kira about her friends inviting her to take pictures at a photo sticker booth on the way home. She wants to go with Kira and Yabe. Yabe declines the invitation for he has something to do today. He excuses himself that he’ll go to the toilet. Rei quietly watches him. Sitting on the toilet seat, Yabe thinks that even if it is a great help that Nino is acting like nothing has happened but his feelings for her is still quite complicated. He looks at his cellphone of a picture of Kira and Nino at the shrine [for the hatsumode/first shrine visit]. He thinks, but, upon seeing the email that Kira sent him on January, he had realized that compared to anything else, in the end, he wants the two to be smiling. He is at a lost on the side of love for he felt hateful and jealous even if he was the one who asked Kira what he is doing on New Year’s Day. While walking in the streets, Nino asks Kira if he’s okay. Shivering, Kira says that he feels a bit feverish, that’s all. He apologizes for making her go back midway with him. Nino says that it is alright anyway, they already took pictures at the photo sticker and they can eat cake anytime. Kira tells her that lately, he easily gets tired. Nino glances at him. She wonders if it is okay that until now, she has not to tell him that she has seen that list [what he wants to do before he dies] even if she felt that it would better not to say it. Kira asks Nino where Rei went after they went to McDonald’s. Nino says that she said that there is a place where she wants to go. Ding dong. Yabe is surprised to see Rei standing in front of his house while eating taiyaki [fish shaped bun with filling]. Yabe looks nervous and Rei continues to munch her food. His mother calls out to him and asks who it is. Inside, Yabe’s mother and sister gush over how cute Rei is and she is like a doll. While Yabe’s mother gives Rei more food, Yabe’s sister says that Rei suits with cosplay that she wants her to wear some Christmas clothes in some change outfit game. While Rei is munching, Yabe is wondering how come squirrel girl came here suddenly. He recalls that even if Kira said that she wanted to properly get along with him but does she have to do it up to this degree. His thoughts are interrupted when his mother and sister are wondering out loud if Yabe is her boyfriend.

Kyou no Kira-kun [Chapter 25]

Page 25 – All I Want for Christmas is You. Narration: “The many things that had happened are almost forgotten. Today is December 24th.” Nino looks at her cellphone with a message from Kira telling him that he’ll go to his father’s store then he’ll go to her so wait for him in front of the [Christmas] tree at the train station (｡･ω･｡)/ Narration: “Today is a Christmas date together with Kira-kun.” Nino is all sparkles with excitement. This is the first time she is spending a holiday with someone other than her family. Her parents went out to eat today so it seems that they are coming home late. Sensei also didn’t come with her so the two of them are all alone. There is a scene of Sensei saying that he has something to do so he won’t go. She had also dressed up ‘bright and beautiful’ as much as she could. “Kira-kun has come back and there was that thing with papa. Right now, I’m truly really happy. *waves arms to the side* Quickly calm down. Calm down, Nino.” Then, Kira finds Nino standing in front of the wall. Just when he is about to call her, he hears her muttering, “No, if this goes on, I’ll be overly excited.. so perhaps, it would be better if I say it a bit. I really like Kira-kun. I really like Kira-kun. I really like Kira-kun.” Kira looks at her in surprise. After thinking that is fine, Nino looks at the side to see Kira. She becomes embarrassed and shouts his name. Covering his face, blushing Kira thinks wait, in the end, what is this excessively cute living creature, making him to also want to shout out love. The two blush and look at each other. He greets her a Merry Christmas. She greets him back. At the train, Nino informs Kira that Sensei has something to do so he didn’t come. She says that she thinks that he’s being considerate to them and he’s acting quite like an adult. Kira sweatdrops and thinks that it is more feminine. Then, she asks him if it is really okay that she wants to go to the aquarium today. “Aren’t there any new things in your want-to-do list?” Kira says that even if he wrote some, he thinks that it won’t come true like meeting with a space alien or perhaps, try out becoming a woman. This surprises Nino. He tells her to forget it, he already has something that he really wants to do. “But, it ought to be not quite easy to happen[/accomplish].” As Nino looks at him, it is announced that the train is arriving Otowa. Standing up, Kira says that they’ve arrived, and he’ll think of other things next time but first, they are going to have fun until it hurts. Nino says okay.

Kyou no Kira-kun [Chapter 24]

Narration: “Kira-kun has come back.” At the train, Nino is teary-eyed when Kira hugged her from behind. At Nino’s room that night, Nino exclaims that in the end, it is thanks to Yabe. Scratching his head, Kira says yes and it seems that his distance with him has decreased. While Sensei quietly listens, Kira says that even if he isn’t quite used to it but they’ve set a date for him to go to Yabe’s house next time to see the kitty. Nino exclaims that is great and she should also thank Yabe. Kira looks a bit awkward and asks why Nino is facing away from him while talking with him just now. Sensei thinks that he finally noticed it. Kira says that he knows that she’s angry and that is inevitable. “I’m truly sorry for gone missing on my own.” Somewhat sad Nino looks at him and says that she isn’t angry at all, but rather, she’s very happy. “But I’m very worried whether because I can or cannot understand your feelings, that always until now, I’ve made it very difficult for you..” Sensei decides to leave the two alone so he flies out of the room. Kira says that she’s wrong, he the one who’s very stupid since obviously, when the two of them are apart, it would hurt more. “In the end, if not together, [I] won’t know the meaning of living on. From today on, it is possible that difficult things would happen. When that time comes, I will definitely tell you so it will be okay.” Nino blushes and says okay. Kira says, “By the way, right now, I’m enduring more than you, Nino! If I were a dog, I would have been wagging my tail early on and barking out loud! *blush* Can I touch you?” Nino blushes really red. She goes to him and gives him a tight hug. She happily says what nonsense is that. Kira happily hugs her back and says, “Master, *doggie ears* please give me a little reward. Woof Woof.” Just when they are about to kiss, the door opens and Nino’s father comes in. Holding a small bag, he says, “Nino, I’m back. I bought you a souvenir..” The couple is shock. Nino’s father freezes then his glasses crack. [<- joke shock effect] Soon, everyone is silent while they are in the living room. Sensei thinks that it turns out that the father still didn’t know and it won’t be easy to pacify him. Cosplaying as a cabin attendant, Nino’s mother says that is her fault because it just so happen that he was away on a business trip when Kira made that request [/kind of marriage proposal] so she wasn’t able to mention it. Pushing up his glasses, Nino’s father says that he won’t allow it. “I won’t allow the two of you to go steady.” While Kira and Nino look surprise, Nino’s mother tearfully calls her husband. Nino is surprised when Kira asks if it is because he’ll inevitably die one day. Nino’s father says, yes because he is her father so he won’t allow something[/event] that would hurt her. Nino protests that even so, she wants to be with Kira. Her father says no. Kira says that he is right.

Kyou no Kira-kun [Chapter 23]

Page 23: Labyrinth Love Song. Narration: “I earnestly request you to make those two come back together.” At the cemetery, Kira is praying at his family grave. Then, he looks up and wonders what Nino is doing right now. He takes out his cellphone and looks at a picture of Nino sleeping and drooling with half of her body on the floor and the other half on the bed. Sensei is sleeping on the pillow that is on the floor. Kira smiles and thinks that it is a stolen picture that he got before. He recalls embarrassed Nino saying that it is a misunderstanding for usually, it is a bit more elegant. Kira smiles and thinks that she’s so moe. Then he feels like crying when he recalls Yabe asking how can a person who is going to die give her happiness. He bows down and hears some running footsteps. He looks at the side to see Yabe. Breathing hard, Yabe says that he found him. Kira’s eyes widen in surprise. He stands up and exclaims in surprise Yabe’s name. Kira asks why he is there and this is Ishikawa. Yabe imagines telling Kira that he came to bring him back, let’s go back to where Nino is. While Kira is puzzled, Yabe looks away and wonders if he is going to say that for he is someone who’ll do what he’ll say. Deciding to be straightforward, Yabe pouts and says that for him to ask him why, he went to his grandmother’s place and afterwards, he was told that Kira went to the cemetery so..that grandmother is quite lively. Kira goes ‘ha?’ over what Yabe is saying though his grandmother is indeed lively. Yabe sweatdrops and thinks that being sudden like that [/just blurting it out] is IMPOSSIBLE. Then, he shivers and sneezes out loud. Yabe wonders why he suddenly feels cold. Kira touches his forehead. Then, he calls Yabe stupid, to come along. At the house, Kira tells him to go in. At the living room, Yabe checks his temperature and it is 37.8C. He wonders if it is because he has been out in the cold for a long time, looking for Kira and how come he is suddenly invited in the house. Kira comes in and gives him a change of clothes and warmer[/hot pack]. He also gives him some medicine to drink before he goes to sleep. Kira says that before that, how about eating something first. Going to the kitchen, Kira asks if whatever he makes is okay because his grandmother went out to buy something. Yabe wonders what kind of situation is this, for right now, he monopolizing Kira all for himself. In his mind, he is rolling around blushing and puking blood. <-fanboying? ^^; Kira serves him some rice, pickles and tofu. Yabe thanks him and wants to take a picture of it. With tears in his eyes, Yabe eats and thinks that it is delicious. Kira quietly watches him.

Kyou no Kira-kun [Chapter 22]

Cover page: “I feel the smell of summer. A premonition of love wave.” Page 22: GO FOR IT!! Narration: “December 15th. Since that time, I didn’t get to meet with Kira.” In class, the teacher tells everyone to sit down for classes is about to start. He informs the class that Kira is absent today because of a cold. While Nino reads her cellphone, Yabe is surprised that Kira had a cold. The teacher tells the class that exams start this Monday so they should take care of their health. While someone complains about wanting to be absent, Nino thinks that is contrary to what Kira emailed to her this morning. She reads his email telling her that he wants to be alone temporarily and he apologizes to Nino for saying it so suddenly. “I recall that I have told you before that I felt happy to the point of being a bit scared. *Nino goes to Tokyo Tower and thinks that she obviously knew that he isn’t there* Right now, I’m really a bit scared. Even if our hearts connected but I cannot be like Nino, who can create one’s future. The more I like you, the more I would feel that no matter what I do, I cannot overcome this gap. I obviously feel very happy but there is also the same degree of pain and frustration. So, right now, even if we are together, it is possible that I also have no way of smiling sincerely. So, I’m sorry.” On the blackboard, the the schedule of term exams is written. Hyakuta says that hellish three days has started. Nino says that they do their best together. Ikigoma comments that she is quite happy [free from worry]. Nino happily says that it is because her brain is already filled up to the full. Yabe quietly watches her. Sensei wonders what’s up with that attitude, she also always studied in Saturday and she also never mentioned about Kira. Then, Rei calls out to Nino to come with her for a while. Yabe quickly thinks that it is about Kira. At the library, Rei asks if Kira contacted her. “Since the time he disappeared, it has already been five days. Are you still okay, Nino-chan?” Nino smiles and says yes, she is okay. “But, in the end, I’m worried where he is, so for today, I thought of going to ask his father. And by the way, it seems that he got a flu.” Rei looks worried about Nino then she notices someone behind the shelves, eavesdropping. It is Yabe who looks worried for Kira isn’t sick but rather, his whereabouts is unknown.

Kyou no Kira-kun [Chapter 21]

Page 21: Love Sick. Cover page: “The one who is most loved by Nino is unexpected not Kira nor Yabe, but this famous guy!?” In bed, Kira looks at the clock which is at 6:55am. Narration: “I hate the sound of the moving clock. I feel that it is the sound which kind of reminding me of how much time I have left. *recalls Yabe telling him that he cannot give Nino happiness since he is heading to the grave* ..Annoying to death. I feel that something is going to happen today.” Already dressed up in her uniform, Nino looks at the empty bottle of coke with Yabe’s ‘I like you’ note. She recalls him telling her to properly think about it. Her mother calls out to her to eat breakfast. Sensei looks at Nino and thinks that even if Nino’s feelings are already determined but it would be better if strange things don’t happen. At the shoe lockers, Kira tells Nino that he watched a zombie movie at CS. Nino asks if it is a sequel to the one he mentioned before. Kira says that is right, and it is really amazing. Nino says that’s great, then. Glancing at him, Nino thinks that it is good that Kira is more energetic and even if this is good, should she tell him about Yabe. She notices Yabe coming in the school. Yabe notices her. He blushes really red and looks away. Nino looks a bit tense. Then, Yabe notices that Rei is staring at him. Munching on her chocolate bar, she walks away thinking that he had confessed. A bit nervous Yabe thinks that it is that girl again. Rei goes to the two and greet them a good morning. Nino decides to talk with Yabe first. At the back of the school building, Nino apologizes to Yabe for calling him out to this place because she thinks that it is more convenient if there are no people around. Blushing Yabe waits with crossed arms. Nino thanks for his message and it is like a dream, she’s very happy. “But, I like Kira-kun. So, even if I’m thankful for your feelings..” Yabe walks towards her and shouts that he knows that and from his side, he also understands the situation. “I plan on doing a long term brave fight, idiot.” Nino protests that he still hasn’t totally heard her reply. Yabe tells her that no one predict the future. Nino looks surprised at flustered Yabe. Holding his arm that is trying to cover her mouth earlier, determined Nino exclaims, “I will like Kira-kun for a long time!! *walking away* No matter what is said, I have clearly said [my piece].” Yabe just glances at her. Still walking, Nino thinks that she didn’t expect things will turn out like that for it turns out that he still has some other things to say. She looks somewhat flustered. Yabe quietly hangs his head down. Narration: “December 13th. –Yabe-kun, how does he view this thing about Kira’s illness?”

Kyou no Kira-kun [Chapter 20]

Cover page: “Comfortably warm♪ Light as a feather☼ Every second together with you is comparatively quite blissful!” Page 20 – Crazy Moon. Narration: “What do those words, ‘serves you right’ unexpectedly mean?” At their house, Kira tells Nino that he’s going to sleep early so he won’t be going to her house. Nino says okay. “See you tomorrow.” Kira goes in his house and inside, his smile disappears. He recalls how Yabe was looking at him. While Nino hangs up her coat, Sensei says that she didn’t tell Kira about encountering that hoodlum. Taking off her sweater, Nino says that she didn’t because it appears that Kira isn’t feeling well and she didn’t want him to worry. Sensei says that if it were possible, he would also want to play hero and save the beautiful maiden but sorry, he is only a bird. Rubbing him on her cheek, Nino says that it is alright, she is already very satisfied that he is always at her side. She tells Sensei that she has to sincerely thank Yabe for saving her some time although she is a bit concerned about his strange words and actions before he left. Sensei seems surprised then he thinks that actually, even if she didn’t say it, Natural Perm had also seen it from start to end. Lost in thought Yabe is playing with the kitten when he perks up upon hearing a scream. Someone is shouting about an unexpected cancellation so what about the shooting tomorrow. It turns out that the studio has already been reserved so they have to temporarily find a female high schooler.. Puzzled Yabe thinks that his sister is really going wild. He is surprised when she goes to his room and darkly tells him that there is a teeny-tiny favor that she wants to ask of him. In school, while Rei is eating chocolate covered stick biscuits, Nino is surprised over what Yabe said regarding an interview. Yabe tells her that his older sister is working as an editor at a magazine. She is responsible for the layout and every month, she introduces an ordinary girl who can be considered as full of individuality. Surprised Nino asks why her. Yabe says that she is already full of individuality <- referring to the bird [Sensei] always perched on her shoulder. While Sensei is happy that he will be on a magazine, Nino still tries to protest until Yabe reminds her that he saved her yesterday. He assures her that it is just a small magazine that wasn’t read by many people and since it is work, she’ll be paid for it. After some hesitation, Nino accepts. She says that this small thing which might not be enough compensation if he had scars. Yabe holds her hand and says if that is so, then, to take responsibility, she’ll marry him. Nino, Sensei and Rei look surprised.

Kyou no Kira-kun [Chapter 19]

Page 19: Goodbye, Sympathy [/tenderness towards] and Sadness. Character profile: Yabe Kazuhiro, 16 years old, <birthday> August 18th, <blood type> Type A, <height> 180 cm, and <commonly referred to as> Kira’s fan. Flashback: In section 3-C [junior high], glasses Yabe is all alone in the classroom. He is doing something on his desk when the door suddenly opens. He looked up and is shock to see Kira coming in. While he is freaking out that it is Kira Yuuji, Kira approached him and said that it turns out that he’s not the only one who is ditching PE class. “About that, what’s your name again?” Trembling since he thinks that Kira is a terrifying person, Yabe replied that he’s called Yabe. Looking away, Kira said that it turns out that someone like him would also ditch class. After looking surprised by that, Yabe told him that it is because someone hid his PE uniform. Kira looked surprised by that then he noticed that Yabe is drawing a mecha manga. Yabe quickly closed the book and shouted that he’s studying. Kira picked up the book and looked at it. Yabe nervously thought that he will be teased, he will definitely be teased. He imagines some people looking at him with a disgusted expression saying that he’s gross for he turns out to be an otaku. Kira laughed and happily said, “Yabe, you’re really amazing. This is very interesting- *Yabe is surprised; patting Yabe’s head* Aren’t you quite cool?” Yabe blushed and is moved by what Kira said. End flashback. And, Yabe wakes up. At school, Kira is with Rei, who is eating a crepe. Kira explains to Nino that it is because Nino looks like someone who is easy to bully[/one can’t help but want to bully her] so Rei did that kind of thing. “The fact is she fundamentally only wanted to check out my girlfriend but it appears her S[adist] heart is moved.” Surprised Nino nervously asks if she’s easily bullied. Kira says that it is because Nino has this lack of self-confidence look and Rei’s personality is a bit twisted. “It is because she has an eccentricity of loving to bully those whom she had taken a fancy on, so she doesn’t have friends. Right.” Rei apologizes to Nino for not only lying to her but also saying some mean things to her. “Even if I didn’t have a romance with Yuuji but during his second year junior high, he was scared witless and got depressed because he wet the bed.” In disbelief, Nino asks if it is Kira-kun. While Rei darkly smiles, embarrassed Kira shouts at Rei that didn’t she promise that she would never to say it to anyone throughout her life. “Nino, quickly forget it, just this once.” Sensei smiles and thinks that it isn’t some suspicious relationship but only just grabbing the handle[?], how idiotic.

Kyou no Kira-kun [Chapter 18]

Cover page: “You are this world’s one and only, and with me, we are mutually intertwined by fate.” Page 18: two of us. While walking together, Kira and Sensei are nervous over gloomy Nino. She is thinking over what Rei said that she already slept with Kira once and Rei even showed her a picture of half-naked young Kira. “Did Rei-chan go steady with Kira-kun?” Kira lightly chops Nino’s head and tells her that this is their first ‘date after school’ so what’s up with her listless attitude. Nino says that she is only nervous. Kira asks if that’s true. Nino insists that it is true. Holding out his hand to her, blushing Kira tells her, “Then, your hand! Let’s hold hands, okay?” Sensei thinks that Kira unexpectedly do this while he can’t move. Nino puts her hand on his and says, “Woof.” Kira thinks that it is so cute. Kira asks, where they are going. Nino wants to go to the place where he usually goes to. Kira laughs and says that if it is that, then, it would be that place. Soon, at a game center, Nino is surprised over how fast Kira presses the buttons of the arcade machine. And, bunny mascot wins by a K.O. Kira tells her that before, he would always stay here and play. Nino claps and praises him that he’s amazing and is this a so-called ‘special skill’? Kira tells her that while he was hospitalized, it is actually quite boring and it was also the start of the turning point [of playing electronic games]. “Rei is my master!” Nino is surprised to hear that then she looks a bit uneasy. Kira suggests that she go and try it out. Nino agrees. She thinks that since this is something that Kira is fond of doing, she ought to try it even if it is her first time. “I should, more or less win.. *you lose; bunny mascot down* More or less.. *you lose; bunny mascot down* More.. *you lose; bunny mascot down*” Nino is totally shock and Kira sweatdrops. Standing up, Kira suggests that they go play something else wherein the two of them can play together. Nino timidly apologizes. Nino thinks that she cannot express ‘understand’ and she is only limited to knowing what he likes. While walking around, Kira asks her what she plays outside when she was young. Nino says that she doesn’t play anything special because she didn’t have any friends so she would just always stay in the room with Sensei. Sensei says that is right. Nino says that even if that is the case, she still has a place that she really likes. “It is the time before I’ve met Sensei. We’ve went to Nansho’s Nanasato Beach [guesswork from 南湘七里浜] for a field trip. At that time, I’m chatting together with my classmates. Everyone are building sand castle together. We are so fond of it that when we were told to go home, we don’t want to leave. *smiling* The sea[/beach] is a place of special memories.”

Kyou no Kira-kun [Chapter 17]

Page 17: SPICE. Cover page: “Finally found you. Let me feel the warmest place”. Narration: “I want to understand more of Kira-kun’s new side.” At the train station, it is almost 430pm. Kira tells Nino that Christmas is coming soon and do they have plans on going somewhere. He is surprised to see Nino pouting and somewhat flustered. He asks her what’s up with that expression. Nino tells him that she has something important to tell him. “Today, I always felt like someone is watching us! I also have that innate REACTION even though it is vague.” Kira is surprised. He tells her that he thinks it isn’t that but rather, it is his fault. Taking out a folded paper, Kira admits to her that while she was around, a couple of girls confessed to him midway during the lunch time’s clean up. He had always observed that they are waiting for a good timing and even if he refused them, he accepted their feelings. Embarrassed Nino says is that so, then she must be imaging things. Sensei is angry over [Kira?’s] complacency. He tells her that starting tomorrow, he is free. Nino is downcast for Kira has been confessed to again and generally until now, they are probably acting that way because they are thinking ‘if he can go steady with Bird Girl, then..’ Noticing her expression, Kira pinches her face with both palms and says that just now, she is thinking of some negative stuff. Nino denies it. He tells her, “Liar, it doesn’t matter who the other party is, *pecks[?] Nino on the lips* I like you, Nino.” Sensei freaks out while Nino covers her mouth in surprise. Blushing Nino asks him where his cute side went. Kira tells her to get used to his original self or one might say, he is being lenient. Narration: “December 2nd. The season is totally winter season but my heart felt quite warm.”

Page 16: Boyfriend. Cover page: “Really like you, really want to hug you tightly!” Narration: “Kira-kun *Kira held Nino’s hand and said, ‘The meaning of my existence is you, Nino’* had thrown my own words back to me.” Covered with a blanket, Nino sits on her bed with a blank look. Sensei perches on her bed post and quietly sweatdrops. He flies to Nino’s bed and asks if she couldn’t sleep. Nino says, yes. She blushes and lies back on her bed. She tells him that just thinking of what happened yesterday made her somewhat excited. With a teasing look, Sensei says that is right, after all, she got promoted to ‘girlfriend’. This made Nino blush even more. Nino wonders out loud over what kind of progress will happen between them in the future. “Just thinking of this since the start, I couldn’t stop imagining it.” With folded arms, Sensei says that Kira is a pretty boy so he ought to quickly make a move on her. He tells her not to say other things for won’t he directly kiss her and if he does any strange thing to her, *gesturing a punch* she should definitely hit him. Getting out of the blanket, Nino says that she thinks that ought to be not quite possible and she had also thought about that. Narration: “Today is the first day of starting going steady.” Kira is waiting at the gate. Nino comes out and nervously greets him. Kira just says, morning with a blank look. Surprised Nino exclaims what’s up with him. Kira says that it is nothing and everything is normal with him. “Come, let’s go.” Nino notices that Kira has his hand[/s] is in his pocket. While walking, Kira is telling her about watching a television show that he didn’t notice that it is already the middle of the night, and it is a movie about zombies. It is by seriously watching the deeper contents of the movie that he finds it very interesting. It is quite philosophical that he starts to like zombies. Nino keeps looking at his hand on his pocket then, she looks at her hand. She agrees about what Kira is saying. Sensei seems puzzled. Narration: “Ah- about that, how should I say it. It is a start which is, just like before, with no change.” In the classroom, everyone looks at the door when Kira and Nino come in. A student says that they’ve arrived so who is going to ask. Another student says that after all, they hugged in the classroom. This made Nino blush as she remembers that when they returned yesterday, everyone is already gone. A guy holds Nino’s hand and exclaims, “Hey, Bird Girl, are the two of you going steady!?” Kira chops their hands to separate them. Kira pulls Nino to him and says, “Right now, she is my girlfriend. No one is allowed to touch her.” Everyone blushes and exclaims if this is for real. Nino is surprised by Kira’s declaration. Yabe looks glum while lying his head on the table.

Page 15: Beautiful Life. Cover page: “I only have to be with you, and the world becomes more radiant than yesterday.” Narration: “Okamura Nino.. strange neighbor. A person whom I haven’t exchanged glances with throughout my life. That is the very first impression.” At the train station, Nino nervously looks at Kira who is lost in thought. Nino tells him that he looks very tired today. Kira groans and says that compared to what he imagined, working takes a lot more effort. “But, it’ll end today. Just thinking of the thing [I’ll do] afterwards makes my vigor become fully restored!” Nino asks afterwards, what is that thing. Kira looks away and says that it is nothing, he can sleep. Blushing Nino glances at Kira. Narration: “November 24th. It has been 3 days since that [almost kiss behind the curtains] and it seems like nothing has happened at all. But..” There is an announcement of a train coming so Kira stands up and says that his train came first so he’s going. Nino says okay. To her surprise, smiling Kira touches her head and says, “Don’t catch a cold.” As Kira left, Nino blushes. Sensei thinks that Kira is putting on an act [= nothing is happening]. After a while, Nino says, “Sensei. Kira-kun really puts importance to me.” Puzzled Sensei asks why she looks downcast. Nino tells him that because of the balcony incident, it brought about expectation within her. “I’m expecting ‘Is it possible that Kira-kun also thinks of me as..?’ But, I’m mistaken. On the second day when we met, it is quite ordinary. And just now, I felt that I’m the only one who is thinking of that. For Kira-kun, fundamentally, it isn’t something special because it just means ‘important friend’.” After a pause, Sensei thinks, “Don’t worry. Curly generally will tell you tomorrow, Nino!! –I really want to tell her~~” Sensei has been told by Nino about the balcony incident.
