So, Aiko, Nozomu’s missing beloved sister for many years, turns out to be Sumi. Nozomu and Sumi are shock. Nozomu’s father asks Nozomu if he remembers that Aiko was kidnapped when she was barely a year old. At that time, even if they got the kidnapper’s ransom note demanding for money, but no one appeared at the place where the exchange will take place. Thus, Aiko was gone from them forever. There is a scene of Nozomu’s father comforting his wife while teary-eyed young Nozomu looked at them from the door. End flashback. Nozomu’s father exclaims that Aiko is unexpectedly alive. Eisuke admits to shock Sumi that he is saying this for the first time but she is an abandoned baby whom he picked up from a rose garden. And, from then on, he brought her up like his own sister. Sumi says that he is lying. Eisuke says that he isn’t for when he picked her up, she is wearing clothes used for carrying babies and a cross..[which Sumi happens to be wearing], yes that cross. Opening his album, Nozomu’s father takes out a picture and shows Sumi a picture of young Nozomu and baby Aiko with the same cross around her neck. He says that cross belings to Aiko. Eisuki says that he didn’t expect Sumi to be the daughter of the Ijuin family. Sumi just looks very shock. Nozomu repeats again about Sumi being Aiko. Nozomu’s father says that he understands right, this is the reason why they absolutely shouldn’t marry. This made Nozomu smile which surprises his father. Nozomu happily tells Sumi that this is the reason why he is infatuated with her. His father is shock when Nozomu declares that he will still marry Sumi. Eisuke shouts that Sumi is his younger sister. Nozomu says that even so, he doesn’t care or perhaps, he should say that he is very happy that Miss Sumi is his younger sister. Nozomu’s father shouts in protest but on cue, his heart fails him. While his father cringes in pain and Eisuke rushes to him, Nozomu calls out his butler to bring his father to the hospital.

Cover page: “Getting married with Nozomu--!? Sumi’s fate is!?” Everyone is shock after smiling Nozomu told them that he is going to marry Sumi. Sumi tries to protest by saying that didn’t he say that unless he hasn’t divorced with Miu.. Nozomu tells her that the issue between him and Miu has already been resolved. While Sumi is surprised by that, Nozomu tells his father that his health hasn’t recovered so he should rest. As his wife puts him to bed, Nozomu’s father worriedly watches on as Nozomu leads Sumi out and tells her that they should go home. Sumi can only mentally think of Soichiroh. Meanwhile, Soichiroh’s boss is telling him to go to England with him. He also says that it is necessary for Soichiroh to go with him as his attendant for he plans to expand his business. And, of course, the salary will be fair for him. Looking thoughtful, Soichiroh tells him to let him think about it a bit. Later on, Soichiroh goes to the old shack where the kids welcome him and ask if he brought something back. To the kids’ delight, he brought home some eel and stuffed buns. They ask him when Sumi is coming back for they want to live together with her soon. Soichiroh looks surprised. Then, he sadly says that one day, she will.. At Ijuin residence, Nozomu’s father has been looking at old photo albums. He somewhat looks fondly at young Nozomu, his wife and daughter. Then, his wife enters to say that it is strange that he isn’t at the hospital. She is surprised that he is looking at the old pictures. She tries to grab the photos and angrily tells him that she told him before to throw those old photos away. Nozomu’s father shouts back for her to shut up and this has nothing to do with her. His wife is taken aback as Nozomu’s father goes out of the room with the album.

While Nozomu and the beard guy walk away talking about not being able to shot a deer, Soichiroh just looks glum. Soon, it is time to leave. Beard guy is happy about this delightful business discussion. Shaking Nozomu’s hand, he invites Nozomu and Sumi to England. As they talk, Soichiroh and Sumi exchange meaningful glances. Nozomu sees this, that he looks totally furious after Soichiroh and Beard guy had left. Upon returning home, Sumi mentions about wanting to go to shogi club tomorrow but Nozomu says that he is dissolving the club because a lot of people have to work overtime, and it isn’t a good influence on them to keep on indulging their time in the club. He says that there is an intense influenza going around so it is best for her to stay home. Nozomu hires two new butlers and fires Komai. Sumi tries to insist that Komai stays but Nozomu shouts that Komai should quickly pack his things and leave. Komai leaves. Two butlers stop Sumi from going after Komai, and Nozomu says that he is going to work. At the office, a man tells Nozomu that things had already been properly arranged. He says good job.

Sumi and Soichiroh are happily look at each other and saying ‘I love you’. Just when Sumi is about to kiss Soichiroh again, Nozomu is getting ready to cut down another door with his ax. Fortunately, two of the hotel staff members immediately grab him to stop him. While a couple of guests come out from their room to see the commotion, Nozomu is shouting for them to let him go. He shouts in frustration as they successfully restrained him. Back to the couple, Sumi comments that Soichiroh’s arm is rough. Holding up his arm, he tells her that it is because he is doing physical labor. “Always until then, I only know how to order people around at work. But now that I’m working for someone else, apparently, it had made me understand more of the workplace’s social interaction [/situation].” Sumi starts crying and says that it would be good if only time can stop at this moment. “I don’t want to be separated from you.. I want to be with you forever, Soichiroh-san..!!” Soichiroh tells her, “I will definitely get you back, wait for me.” Afterwards, they kiss again and Sumi prepares to leave. At the door, Komai is waiting for them. He smiles and says that for Nozomu, this kind of thing is.. “Until the time when young master comes to welcome Sumi back, I, Komai, will definitely protect Miss Sumi.” Soichiroh smiles over this. As Sumi and Komai head back, they overhear some ruckus. Still held by two other staff members, Nozomu is shouting about buying the hotel but the staff member says that even if they do that, they cannot break down all of the doors in the hotel. Nozomu stops his protests when Sumi calls out to him. Nozomu immediately perks up and says that it is good that she is okay. “Just now, for some time, where did you go?” Sumi tells him that she went to the courtyard where the wind is blowing. While Sumi is apologizing to him for making him worry, Nozomu is intently looking at the hickey on the base of Sumi’s neck. Komai asks the staff members about buying the hotel. The staff member says that it is nothing, but regarding the damaged things, they will put it on their bill. Komai is surprised about these damaged things. Nozomu starts to look totally horrified and speechless. Sumi and Komai are puzzled when Nozomu quietly leaves with fallen shoulders.

Cover page: “The one I like is only Soichiroh.” While hugging teary-eyed Sumi, Soichiroh tells her that one day, he is going to get her back. Looking happy, Sumi mutters his name. Then, they hear a noise and notices that a man is passing by the corner of the building. After being startled by that, Soichiroh takes the bento and thanks her for it. Sumi looks satisfied as she watches Soichiroh leave. She thinks, “It would be good if I can also become Soichiroh’s strength.” Back at the house, Komai informs Sumi that she will go to a party [/banquet] for madams so Nozomu wants her to wear a checkered design gown. While maid A is helping her dress up, Sumi is puzzled about this party for madams. Komai explains to her that it is a party wherein the madams of the financial world would participate in. Sumi says that she hasn’t participated in it, not even once. Komai tells her that it is because Soichiroh knows that Sumi isn’t used to high society life so he would decline the invitation. “But right now, if the madam of chairman Nozomu of Ijuin [monopoly] Corporation said that she won’t go, it is a bit hard to say that.” At a restaurant with many glass doors and windows, the women are chatting with each other but stopped to look at Sumi when she arrived. Sumi is surprised when a woman says that she is obviously a penniless good-for-nothing. Sumi looks at the direction of some women who were giving her mean looks. They say that Sumi stole Miu’s position as the rightful wife, and Miu is the most beautiful.. Sumi is flustered by what they are saying that she quickly starts walking away. To Sumi’s surprise, a woman throws the contents of her cup on her [Sumi]. Then, the woman smiles and apologizes. Another woman asks if she is alright. Just when Sumi is saying that she is, the other woman pushes her cake on a plate onto Sumi’s hair [near the shoulder area]. While Sumi looks surprised at the woman, the woman also smiles and apologizes. With a haughty and amused look, the women tell Sumi that it serves her right and it’s really humiliating. Flustered Sumi quickly leaves the place.

Miu screams in shock because Sumi really jumped off the cliff. She starts to panic for Sumi has not surfaced from the water. Trembling, she wonders what she should do. Then, Komai arrives and asks Miu what was that scream just now. Komai becomes nervous when Miu tells her that she did something unforgivable. The two immediately go down the cliff by the seashore. Komai calls out to Sumi. Then, from behind some rocks, Komai sees Sumi’s head surfacing. Sumi stands up and starts coughing. Komai is really relieved that she is okay. Trembling and flustered Miu starts to cry and mutter that Sumi really did jump off. Wet Sumi tells her that it is because Miu is hurt because of her, so until Miu doesn’t mind it anymore [/forgive her], she will jump off the cliff no matter how many times [Miu wants her to do it]. This made Miu cry even more. She starts to apologize to Sumi. Sumi tells her that if Miu loves Nozomu, she shouldn’t divorce him. Sumi says that always until they divorce, she will make Nozomu treat her [Sumi] as a stranger. After thinking a bit and calming down, Miu says that she understands, she won’t divorce Nozomu. Sumi is very happy about this. While riding the rickshaw with Sumi, Komai asks if she isn’t cold. Sumi says that she is fine and asks him if they can go on a detour. At the old shack, Sumi and Komai see the landlady giving some yams to Sumi’s younger siblings. The kids thank the landlady. Sumi is relieved and happy that everyone went back to their old house. She wonders out loud if Soichiroh is out in the streets but then, she is glad that they are all healthy and fine. Soon, it is dark at the pier. Soichiroh and Eisuke are working as stevedores. After piling up a huge cargo, Eisuke asks Soichiroh if he is alright. Soichiroh says that this is better than having no job. After finishing their work, the one in charge tells the stevedores to line up to get their pay for the day. After Soichiroh got his pay, he starts to count the money. He tells the man that he made a mistake with the computation for how come he is only given that much money when he worked the whole day from early in the morning up to nightfall. The man shouts what he is talking about, if he doesn’t think it is enough then don’t come back tomorrow.

Sumi looks tense because Nozomu plans to make her his tonight. Just when Nozomu bends down to kiss her, Sumi asks her where Miu is. This surprises Nozomu. Sumi tells him that he hasn’t divorced with Miu, so she cannot become his as long as the issue with Miu has not been resolved. Nozomu sits up and says that she is right. “So, until a line is drawn between me and Miu, I will not touch you.” Before going out of the room, Nozomu tells her that he’ll sleep downstairs, good night. After he left, teary-eyed Sumi looks at the huge heart ring then, glances out the window. She starts crying again upon remembering Nozomu throwing out her ring given by Soichiroh. Soon, it is morning. At some building located far from the city, Nozomu visits Miu who is lying on the bed. He asks how she is but she doesn’t respond. He takes out a bag and throws bundles of money on Miu. He tells her that he is going to get married to Sumi so he hopes that she would give her consent on divorcing him. Miu didn’t react. Before leaving, Nozomu tells her that if the money isn’t enough, she can go see him. Miu still doesn’t move an inch but her expression look somewhat dark. Back at Ashida residence, Sumi is frantically looking for the ring among the flowers in the garden. Her thoughts are all about Soichiroh. Komai goes to her and tells her to stop this because she will be pricked and hurt. Trying to help her to get up, Komai tells her that there might be a problem if she continues to stay in the rose garden. Sumi pulls her arm from him and shouts that she doesn’t want to listen to what a traitor says. Komai calls out to her but Sumi continues to search and tells him not to mind her. Then, Sumi overhears the maids welcoming Nozomu back. Komai tells her to quickly head back in the house or else. Sumi shouts that she knows. As she quickly runs off, Komai looks somewhat worried.

Eisuke tells him to relax, he is at the clinic/hospital. Soichiroh is a bit puzzled when Eisuke couldn’t quite answer him as to where Sumi is. At some restaurant [I think], Nozomu holds up a glass of wine for a toast with everyone there. He thanked everyone who are extremely busy yet found the time to come here to join his ‘becoming president’ party. He tells them that from today on, in place of his recuperating father, he will be holding two positions - one as Ijuin Bank’s bank president [and the other as president of the Ashida Products.] “And, at the same time, as a leader among corporations [/top tycoon], I will also definitely do my utmost best to not to put this work [/mission] into disgrace.” A woman asks another woman as to where Nozomu’s wife today. The other woman tells her that she heard their relationship isn’t good and right now, they are living separately. Then, the two women entertain thoughts on the possibility of Nozomu and his wife divorcing and thus, they will have a chance with Nozomu. Then, Nozomu says, “Before the banquet [/toast], there is someone whom I want to introduce to everyone.” While everyone is wondering who it is, Nozomu tells someone to come in. All dolled up, Sumi enters the room. The women exclaim that it is the past president’s wife. Nozomu smiles at serious looking Sumi who walks toward him. While Sumi stands beside him, Nozomu says, “She is my fiancee, Miss Sumi.” Everyone is in an uproar for Sumi is the past president’s wife. Then, barefooted Soichiroh charges into the room. A guy tries to stop Soichiroh and shouts that he cannot go in. Soichiroh shouts back for the guy not to hinder him. While Sumi isn’t reacting, Nozomu mutters in surprised that this voice is..

The man exclaims that this land already belongs to Ashida Products and they should leave. Eisuke tells Sumi to take only the things that are necessary for their daily living. Sumi starts looking into the drawers and sees the cross necklace. She wonders what it is. The man shouts for them again to quickly leave. Eisuke urges the others to leave. The grey skies start to pour down its rain. At some other old-type apartments, Eisuke is asking a woman with three children to take care of the baby. The woman refuses for she cannot take care of such a young child. Eisuke says that he knows that she is also hard pressed but please, can she help. Soichiroh asks Sumi who that woman is. Sumi mutters that it is her brother’s ex-girlfriend, probably. Putting on his charms, Eisuke tells the woman that he will come back to have fun with her. The flustered woman tries to resist by saying that even if he say it that way.. Eisuke deeply kisses the woman on the lips. The woman tells him to stop for the kids are watching. Sumi pleads to the woman to kindly take the baby and after a short while, they will definitely take it back. She asks the woman to please give it shelter. The woman finally relents that Sumi happily thanks her. Then, Eisuke asks her to also take the other three older kids. The woman looks at him in surprise and exclaims for him to quit joking around. Soon, under a wooden land bridge, Eisuke and Soichiroh prepare to leave. Eisuke tells Sumi and the kids that they’ll go look for work. [I think] Sumi says that they shouldn’t force themselves. Tomi worriedly calls out to Sumi. Sumi can only assure them that it will be alright. She hugs them and continues to assure them that everyone will be alright. As the rain continues to pour, Soichiroh keeps on getting ‘no work available here’ from all the stores he went to. They even tell him not to come back. Holding an umbrella to him, Komai calls out to Soichiroh. Soichiroh looks surprised. Holding a thick wad of money, Komai tells him not to say anything and just accept the money. He also says that right now, this is the only thing that he can do. Soichiroh looks surprised as Komai sadly smiles at him. Then, to Komai’s surprise, Soichiroh got angry that he shouts that he doesn’t need the help of a traitor. With that, Soichiroh quickly leaves.

Cover page: “Can Soichiroh sufficiently protect Sumi..!?” Sumi looks tense after Nozomu proposed that he won’t buy the land if she agrees to become his wife. Back at the shack, Atari comes in and tells the other that Sumi has not yet returned. Soichiroh, who is reading to the other kids, says is that so. Eisuke sighs and says that he cannot believe that just because the land has been purchased, they are to ‘quickly driven away’ by the landlady. Soichiroh tells them that he’ll go find Sumi. Then, he meets with a woman carrying some vegetables. Atari calls out to his friend, Tadashi [invented name from the kanji 平 which can be read in many ways.] Tadashi’s mother says that she wants to thank Soichiroh for teaching her children arithmetic. She gives him some vegetables as a small token of gratitude. Atari and others thank them as they leave. The kids are delighted over the fresh vegetables and they would want to ask Sumi to make some vegetable congee for them to eat. Then, sad Sumi arrives home. Soichiroh exclaims where she went and everyone is worried about her. He stops when he sees her crying. Sumi quickly rushes to him and hugs him tight. She remembers that after Nozomu asked her to be his wife, she quickly stood up and shouted that she is Soichiroh’s wife before running out. When Soichiroh tries to ask her what happened, Eisuke says that even if the landlady said that the place has already been sold off, they had lived there since they are young so it can be said that place is theirs so until then, dead or alive, they won’t move from that place. Sumi shouts at her brother to quit talking nonsense. That night, Sumi couldn’t sleep as she remembers Nozomu’s proposal again. She sits up and soon, she is walking at the red light district. While holding a cloth wrapped item [/furoshiki; japanese wrapping cloth], she pulls down her braided hair and walks past men who were attracted to her. Sumi thinks that it is good that her brother’s girlfriend’s make-up and clothes are still in the house. A moustache guy calls out to her, “Hey, girl, how much?” Sumi tells him that it is how much he wants [to pay] but first, he must win a shogi match against her. Sumi pulls out a shogi board from her furoshiki.
