Preview: Shuriken to Pleats [Chapter 5]

In school, Mikage is thinking of how she views Mahito. She thought that he is probably a despicable guy but she was mistaken.. but up to when will she wait for him to give his instruction, so that they’ll take the antidote. Someone is about to touch her from behind when she suddenly ducks down and prepares to attack. She asks Kotarou what he would suddenly. He tells her that he is passing the teaching materials from behind. While the others wonder what’s up with Mikage, the teacher tells her to go back to her seat. Mikage apologizes for that. Taking the papers from Kotarou, Mikage apologizes to him for she is still not used to a Japanese school. Kotarou smiles brightly and tells her that there’s no need for her to apologize for that. Mikage thinks that it is so shiny, that she couldn’t help but be muddled by it. During training, there is no such person like him there, and it is alright for the youth of this country to be so naïve and innocent. Perhaps, that is the inevitable radiance that youth have.

A young ojousama laments over their pitiful ninjas who totally acted as some idiotic peacemakers. The three ninjas are in their futons groaning and apologizing. The ojousama tells her personal ninja/bodyguard that on behalf of her father, she will give then another chance so quickly get up. Her bodyguard thanks her and calls her, Masako [guesswork from 真子] Masako says okay, Ichinosuke [guesswork from 一之助] and don’t mind it. In a room filled with cabinets and covered jars, Masako says that their family, together with the ninjas, continuously collected botanical seeds since the Muromachi bakufu era [under the Ashikaga shouguns].  Until today, they have been attracting all sorts of spies who come to steal and she never thought that it also brought to them that girl ninja whom Rod has taken under his wing. In the end, as expected, her brother and that girl teamed up. Since it is like that, it would be good to have given him poison that will cause instant death. They planned to make him change his mind then give him the antidote which she and her father consider to be a benevolent thing to do.

Flashback: Mikage told Rod that death penalty is imposed on rouge ninja/s. He told her that he won’t let that happen to her. End flashback. Mikage thinks that her master always wishes that she can abandon her status as a ninja. She was able attain the privilege to act freely. He had asked her to go to an ordinary school in peaceful Japan. That is his willful request on his last days.. She cannot ignore it because that is the long cherished wish of her master, wishing that she’ll have a smooth and steady life. But she.. what is she doing.. And, currently, in a small apartment room, Mikage is talking with the man. Mikage says, so he’s saying that he wants her to get the antidote from some people. Still on an IV, the man says yes, he can only ask her, a ninja. Looking at some id card, Mikage mutters his name as, Wakashimatsu Mahito. Mahito tells her that this thing by itself isn’t common. Of course, it is enough that her employer didn’t give her a mission in the meantime but only..he still doesn’t know the incubation period of the poison so he doesn’t know when it will flare-up and kill him. Without the antidote, he cannot ease the symptom. He begs her [to help] since she is his hope to live on. Mikage thinks that those guys retreated to confirm the effect of the poison. Putting down the id card, Mikage says but then, didn’t he say that she only have to listen to what he has to say and that’s all.

Facing a couple of ninjas while holding down the man’s head, Mikage thinks that for her to encounter ninjas in active duty, her intelligence report she attained is actually too little. She wonders who hired those guys, who this man is and why they are after him. She thinks that it can be somewhat concluded that they consider her as an enemy so.. Mikage tells the man to quickly run for he’s a hindrance. The man ran off as told. Mikage quickly uses her luggage to block the ninjas’ attacks. They were going to attack again when they stop, nod to each other and retreat. Mikage is puzzled Then, she turns around to see the man lying on the floor. She asks if he was hit. She checks on him to see if he is wounded. Thinking that she wasn’t able to protect someone again, the trembling man holds up a calling card. He tells her that he is only being drugged. He asks her to bring him to this clinic. At an old fashioned house, Mikage looks at the man sleeping in bed. She mentally tells Rod that even if she immediately acted to help him [/the man], this time around, she was able to protect properly. Holding a wallet, Mikage tells the sleeping man that she used his money to pay for the taxi. She informs him that she’ll be leaving it here.

[Free talk: This is just a preview so I’m not committing to summarizing this but so far, this is somewhat interesting. I think the girl’s name is Mikage [美影] nice one...it meant ‘beautiful shadow’. And well, VK’s Yuuki has reincarnated into a ninja. Lol. For the details and stuff, just wait for the English scanlations. Here is my informal summary for it:]

In London, Mikage disguised as a waitress then protects her master from an assassin. She apologizes to him for the careless wound she caused when she jumped and slightly hit him with the menu. ^^; He says that it is okay since it is a small thing. He thanks him for saving her and asks if she isn’t hurt. Thinking he’s so nice, she starts shouting about being happy for him to say that. Her master name is Rod [guesswork from 德羅]..and mutters his regret for not hiring them earlier or else, his wife and child would still be alive. Mikage vows to protect him to death. In Shadow Village Company, [lol, for the name], the boss is telling Mikage and another guy about Rod having a lot of enemies and tells Mikage that they should be quietly getting rid of the enemies. Then, reminds her about the rule they have about no feelings and be like a shadow. The boss says that even if he is her father, he won’t be lenient with her.
