Two days after the earthquake, Mego and her mother had
finally arrived at Yamagata Airport. Mego overhears some women saying that it
is great that they were able to instantly chance upon a flight here so through Yamagata,
they’ll go to Sendai. They are worried about their family for they couldn’t
contact them. Mego thinks that the uneasy mood is everywhere in the surrounding
since everyone is endlessly anxious over their important people’s safety. She
hopes that Aoi and her grandmother are definitely... Ayaka tells her daughter
that the taxi stand is at that side and it probably takes around an hour for
them to reach Sendai. Then, Mego bumps into someone. She apologizes and realizes
that it is Chiharu and Kagetsuna. After she called out to them, the two are
also surprised that Mego is there. Mego tells them that they came to Sendai to
look for her grandmother and Aoi. Kagetsuna says that he also came because in
the end, he couldn’t contact Aoi. Mego realizes that the two are also..
Noticing their fully packed luggage, Mego thinks that it is definitely stuff
for Aoi. Mego smiles and says that it is great that she is able to see them and
with everyone together, they’ll definitely find Aoi quickly.
Mego suggests that they all ride the taxi together.
Kagetsuna thinks the being terrified of the earthquake disaster has made a lot
of people too late in taking refuge but because Mego is particularly worried
and wanted to find Aoi, she even ran all over here. Recalling Aoi saying that
he will marry Mego and become his family, Kagetsuna mentally tells Aoi that
Mego is already a family who can be in charge [/take responsibility].
Meanwhile, in Tokyo, Azusa is screaming over the tremors. While hugging to
comfort Azusa, Mitsuru says that he is already fed up with the aftershocks. On
the television, it is reported that the epicenter seems to be in Tohoku. Azusa
asks Mitsuru if Mego and his mother are okay. Mitsuru says that it’s okay, he
is still lively and that is the best proof that Mego is safe and sound. Being
twins is quite baffling especially the more it is an urgent and important
moment. Right now, their body and soul had become one body and he can perceive
Mego’s everything.
At Sendai, grandmother happily calls out to Mego and Ayaka.
The two hug the grandmother and are happy that she is okay. Grandmother says
that they even specially came over here from Tokyo and she made them worry for
the telephone aren’t working. Mego is really relieved that her grandmother is
okay. Mego tells her mother to stay and accompany grandmother while she and these
two will go look for Aoi. Ayaka says that she’ll leave Mego to them for it
isn’t safe for a girl to be alone during this period when law and order is in
chaos. Kagetsuna assures her that they’ll definitely protect Mego. So, Mego and
others left for Sendai’s city center to the evacuation center near the seacoast
where Aoi’s college had camp. And, what they saw is--.. Mego looks tense for
after the tsunami, it is such a wretched sight with unending ruins piled up
high like mountains. Chiharu says that he couldn’t dare believe it, is this
place really Japan? That day, they searched everywhere at the nearby evacuation
centers but wasn’t able to find a single news about Aoi. Like them, there are
also a lot of people in the evacuation center looking for their family.
Mego is startled when she heard a loud wailing. Someone asks
what’s up with that woman over there. Someone tells the woman to accept fate.
It seems that she was married not long ago and the tsunami had swept away her
husband. The remains were found a while ago. This unnerves Mego that she
quickly clenches her fist. Chiharu thinks that Mego is going to cry but to his
surprise, Mego bites her lip and stops herself from crying. She tells the
others that they go search at the next evacuation center. While rushing out,
Mego tells herself that she cannot cry for she had vowed that she’ll protect
him as if her life depended on it. That tender night still seems as if it was
yesterday. Soon, it is sunset.. Mego thinks that it is already this late.. It
is like this today, then tomorrow afterwards, if they still couldn’t find
Aoi..? She felt a stabbing pain as she begins to think that if Aoi isn’t
around, then she will also.. Mego starts to sway because of the aftershock.
Chiharu calls out to Mego. And, someone holds her steady. It reminded Mego of
the time when Aoi steadied her from falling the stairs.
Mego turns around and sees that it is indeed Aoi. While
everyone blushes in surprise, Mego is in tears. Aoi suddenly holds his head in
pain then kneels on the ground. Mego quickly goes to him and calls out to him.
Back in Tokyo, Mitsuru felt something. Azusa asks him what is it. Mitsuru says
that he heard Mego’s voice..and she definitely found Aoi. Back at Sendai,
trembling Mego holds Aoi’s face who calls her name. Mego starts crying for she
couldn’t restrain her emotions and it is coming out. Chizuru is also crying.
While wiping his tears, he asks what is this, isn’t he alive..so don’t make
them worry, jerk.. Teary-eyed Kagetsuna holds Chizuru’s shoulder. Chizuru
comments that a while ago, Mego is restraining herself from crying. Kagetsuna
says that she has already heaved out a sigh of relief. Actually, she is very
uneasy and that is also inevitable. She is really a strong child. Recalling
telling Aoi that death won’t part them for they will always be together until
they had grown old and have white hair, Mego thinks that day’s promise, thank
you for keeping that promise for her, ‘Survive, live on, loving each other,
always protecting each other as well as their promise’.
Flashback to March 11: Someone shouted that the tsunami is
coming!! Aoi told his mother that he’ll stay here for a while and they go
ahead. Yuki tried to protest but Aoi shouted for her to quickly go, there’s
nothing between them and she is such an eyesore here!! This startled her that
Yuki quickly grabbed her child and ran off with the others. Aoi thought that
this is good, and she shouldn’t let go of the child’s hand again.. Then, he
felt a sharp pain on his head. Aoi mentally apologized to her for saying things
in such a heavy tone. Actually, what he truly wanted to convey to her is.. Yuki
looked back to see Aoi using sign language. Aoi ‘said’ that right now, he is
very happy for he has someone whom he loves. ‘Thank you for bringing me into
this world’. Yuki remembered young Aoi asking her to teach him sign language.
Yuki stopped running. Recalling the things that Aoi said to her, she realized
that he is telling her to live on.
Yuki started to cry. She thought that at that time, she was
submerged into a love that had no outcome. She is also not happy after she had
given birth to a child. It is because she only wanted love that’s all. From
start to end, she cannot accept that she cannot hear Shino’s voice and Aoi, who
had such ugly scars. There was a scene of Yuki backing away and told Aoi not to
touch her for he’s too ugly. But Aoi, he had unexpectedly become quite strong
that he used that kind of gentle eyes to tell her, ‘thank you for giving birth
to me’. Such a foolish child and he’s totally unlike her. Just then, a glasses
man arrived and called out to Yuki. He exclaimed
that it’s really great that she’s fine. The boy called out to the man as ‘papa’.
As Yuki gave the boy to glasses, he told her that this place might be reached
by the tsunami so they have to quickly go to a higher place. Yuki told him that
she’ll leave this child to him for she had left a very important thing behind.
Glasses called out to Yuki as she went back.
While Aoi is struggling on the ground, he is shock to see
that his mother rushing towards him. Yuki mentally told Aoi that she thinks
that she is definitely the ugly one, right. She wants to convey to him that he
isn’t a bit ugly. Aoi shouted for her not to come over and quickly go back.
And, the tsunami swept them away. While his consciousness is fuzzy, Aoi seemed
to be able to hear his mother saying, “Aoi, compared to anyone, you..” Aoi wanted
to hold on for he must save her but his body won’t budge. He saw something
sparkling above. It is his necklace. In the dark water, that small necklace is
like a faint light. He imagined Mego calling out to him. He told himself to persevere
for Mego will cry. He managed to grab hold of the necklace. Just then, someone
grabbed his wrist and pulled him up on to the roof of a house. Three men said
that he is injured yet he is okay. They quickly helped to stop Aoi’s bleeding.
After being rescued, it was an instant loss.
Two days after he woke up from the hospital, he learned that
his mother is already no longer in this world. At the hospital, a doctor asked
about the eye patch child who is staying in this ward. The nurse said that she
couldn’t find him when obviously he should properly recuperate. Aoi went back
to the place where his mother was swept away. He asked how come he is the only
one who was saved. “How come, at the end, I made her aware of my true
feelings.. Afterwards, what happened to that child.. it would be like Shino and
me..a life without a mother. *cry* It’s me. I’m the one who took away the life
of that child’s mother. Is it really okay to sacrifice mother’s life to cause
me to be rescued [/delivered]..? Who’ll come and tell me..” Just then, he heard
Chizuru shouting that it is already very late today and they’ll look again
tomorrow. He called out that it is already evening and the view isn’t quite
good [<- because it is getting dark] so it’s very dangerous.
Running Mego apologized and told him to let her search for a
while. Aoi recognized the voice. Mego said that perhaps, he is trembling at
some place and it is better for her to find him as quickly as possible. “I
promised that I’ll protect Aoi as if my life depended on it.” While wondering
why she is in Sendai, Aoi muttered Mego’s name. Then, Mego seemed to be crying
but she slapped her face and looked determined. Aoi realized that she came to
find him. Soon, the ground is shaking. Chizuru shouted danger, it’s an
aftershock. And, Aoi went to hold Mego steady. Aoi thought that compared to
calling her name, he rather wanted to put her into his bosom as quickly as
possible. Mego looked at him and started crying. He thought that her moist eyes
looks like light that is glittering and dazzling, as if the radiance is flowing
out. She called out to him and hugged him. As he hugged her back, Aoi thought
that it is really great that she is still alive and that is first time he had
that thought from his heart. “Mama, I’m sorry. I will take along your share and
properly live on forever.” End flashback.
Aoi wondered what his mother wanted to say AT THAT TIME. He
heard her voice with the meager consciousness he had, ‘Aoi, compared to anyone,
you..’, why-- Aoi wakes up and sees Mego calling out if he’s awake. While Aoi
is puzzled, Mego informs him that he is currently at her grandmother’s place.
At that time, he was feverish that he collapsed afterwards. It is Kagetsuna and
others who brought him here. Recalling that time when he hugged her, Aoi
touches Mego’s face and says that it turns out that it wasn’t a dream.. Pulling
her to him, he thanks her for coming to find him at the risk of her own life. “I’ve
always really wanted to see you.” This made Mego blush and cry. Before Aoi had
collapsed, he had told her everything including losing his mother in the
disaster. It is because she wanted to rescue Aoi who couldn’t move that her
life was taken by the tsunami. Right now, it is definitely Aoi who really
wanted to cry out. Holding his hand, Mego tearfully tells him that she’s the
one who’ll have to thank him. “Thank you for living on.”
Mego thinks that it is because Aoi is a kind person so he’ll
only blame himself for being the only survivor but no matter how many times
she’ll says it, even if it is very cruel words, no matter how many times.. As
Aoi hugs her, she thanks him for surviving. Later on, Aoi informs Mego that he
wanted to look for that boy who was with his mother during the earthquake. Mego
wonders if it is Aoi and Shino’s younger brother from a different father. Aoi
says that he is really worried about that boy and it’s great if the boy is
okay. At an evacuation center, Mego and Aoi are asking around about a boy
wearing a checkered coat. The man says that he isn’t too sure for there are
many kids at the evacuation center. Just then, a boy calls out to Aoi. Then, he
calls out to his father to say that it is that ‘brother’ at that time who saved
him and mother during the earthquake. Aoi becomes nervous upon seeing Glasses.
Glasses introduces himself as the boy’s father. He thanks Aoi for protecting
his wife and child during the earthquake. Aoi realizes that this man is his
mother’s..
Glasses says that it is regretful that his wife has already lost
her life in the tsunami. Patting the boy’s head, he says that this child is too
young so he still totally doesn’t understand when he told him this ‘even if you
cannot see mama, but she will always protect you at your side’. Aoi suddenly bows
down and apologizes. He says that it is because his wife wanted to save him
that she got swept away by the tsunami and that unfortunate thing happened..!!
Glasses asks if his name is, ‘Aoi’..? This surprises Aoi that he asks how he
knew. Glasses slightly smiles and tells him that he is a neurology doctor and
Yuki is already his patient. [<- Hm..shouldn’t that be a psychiatry or
psychology?] Yuki is very beautiful but her heart [/innermost being] is extremely
weak. He wanted to become the strength who’ll support her so he married her.
Her spirit also gradually improved and in the end, they welcome the birth of
their son, Akane [guesswork from 茜]. One time, Yuki had told him about
her past. She already had a son whose right eye is injured and a daughter who
is deaf.
The boy is called ‘Aoi’ and the daughter is called ‘Shino’. ‘I
don’t know how I should love them so I’m not qualified to become their mother’.
Glasses says but..that’s right, at that time, she told him, ‘I had left a very
important thing behind’ and it turns out that she’s referring to Aoi. Perhaps,
in the very end, Yuki finally become a qualified mother. This made Aoi and Mego
cry. Akane holds Aoi’s sleeve and asks him if he is okay and is he hurt
anywhere. Patting Akane’s head, Glasses tells Akane that it’s great for even if
he cannot see mama, but in exchange, his real brother had come to his side.
Glasses tells Aoi that there isn’t anything that he should feel guilty about
for if he wasn’t there before to save them, then it is possible that Akane
wouldn’t have escaped. This child is left by Yuki and for him to be able to actively
live on, it is thanks to Aoi. Glasses tell Aoi that it is also okay to occasionally
see this child and it seems that he really likes him. Akane happily asks if Aoi
will really become his older brother. While moved Mego watches, Aoi hugs Akane
tight.
As Akane hugs back, Aoi thinks at that time, when he seems
to have heard his mother’s voice, it was, “Aoi, I’m the one who’s ugly. You’re
not a bit ugly. Compared to anyone, you have kind and beautiful eyes.” Later on,
Aoi shows to Mego his mother’s grave. He says that since he’s here, he can come
and see her anytime. This grave is put in a high place so that it will be able
to evade disasters. Aoi notices Mego bowing and calling out to Aoi’s mother that
it is the first time they’ve met. Kneeling down to the grave, she says that
later on, she also wants to give birth to a child who is kind like Aoi. Mego
thinks that it is because Aoi is very kind so he always engrave every pain into
his memory which enables him to become strong and live on. “So, I beg of you
let Aoi and me carrying the heavy cross and live on together.” As blushing Aoi
seems to shield his eyes, he calls out to Mego and says that before, he said
that they’ll get married after she graduates from college, well, he wants to
take those words back. With a broken heart, aghast Mego exclaims why, he wants
break his promise of marriage.
Holding her hand, Aoi tells her to marry him right now. “I
already cannot endure separation for a short period of time. Let’s live
together. At that time, I thought that everything had ended but when I have
thought of wanting to live on, your face appeared before my eyes. You are my
reason for living. Right now, I realized that it isn’t at all inevitable that one
can welcome ‘tomorrow’ safe and sound. No one knows what will happen in the
future so I also refuse to regret and just live at the moment. Do you want to
be together with me?” Moved to tears, Mego thinks that it is the first time for
Aoi to have this kind of intense desire for he’ll always be very kind and would
think of other people. Mego holds his hands tightly and says, “..okay. *smiles*
I will become ‘Sanada Megumu’.” Aoi smiles and touches her face. Narration: “Co-existing
in the piece of land where you are. *holding hands with Aoi* 18 years old on
March, I had become the bride of the person I love the most.”
Comment: And, Aoi survives and will be marrying Mego. I
guess they’ll study and work at the same time. Hm..unless, Mego won’t study
college. As for the mother, I guess it is good that Aoi can move on from what
happened for honestly, it can really give one a guilt trip. The father didn’t
mention it but Aoi did sign language to her his real message which made her go
back. If she didn’t go back, she’ll definitely regret it but then, I really don’t
know..she ended up dead and Akane has no mother. If this series isn’t ending,
it can be prolonged at that point rather than for the father being quite
understanding and everything. In a way, what Yuki did is similar with Mego’s,
risking one’s life and going to save someone important, but of course, with
Mego, it is a happy ending. Scans by 夜莺工作室

At least before she left, they manage to say their feelings to each other and that the Husband (glasses) understands the situation. I'm so happy for Aoi and Mego and finally they're getting married!! Is the next chapter the last one??
Thanks for reading, avismonte080 ^-^

ReplyDeleteI'm currently working on it. ^^

Thank you. TBH, I don't like where the manga is heading... I mean, like I thought Misturu and Shino were going to end up together but it looks like I was wrong lol.
DeleteYou're welcome ^-^
DeleteHm..ya, the pairing had already changed and it seemed to click for most readers.
I know right??? I hope Misturu ends up with Shino in the end because I don't like him with that other girl. XD
DeleteHehe..well, the series is ending..and from the looks of it, that won't happen. Shino had actually become a 'side character' ^^;
