Kanojo wa Uso wo Aishisugiteru [Chapter 67]

And, a plane flies up the sky. The pilot tells the passengers that this is flight number 535 that is going to Takamatsu airport and estimated time of arrival is 12:40. The local weather is sunny.. Looking out the window, Aki thinks that for a long time now, he always made Shun endure. Aki recalls how Shun told him that in a band without Aki, how could he.. Looking flustered, Aki thinks that no..actually, he noticed it early on. “Even if I already noticed it..” Meanwhile Crude Play is in a van heading for the concert venue. Everyone is sitting in silence. Shun seems to be sleeping. Looking out the window, thoughtful Shinya mutters, “compared to what I imagined..it came a lot sooner.” He closes his eyes and calls out to Senzaki. He asks if they will be at the venue soon. Senzaki tells him that they’ll be there at around 10 minutes. Shinya asks if he can get off the van here. Senzaki asks if he is going to a convenient store. Shinya says no, there is a place that he wants to go. After agreeing, Senzaki tells the driver about it.
After the van parks by the sidewalk, Shinya stands up and head to the open door. He looks out the street. He takes one step down. He pauses. Then, he takes the final step to the street. He didn’t look back as the door automatically closes. After hearing it closed, Shinya turns around to tell Senzaki that he’ll be going ahead. Senzaki asks if there’s no need to wait for him. Shinya tells him that it will take some time. Looking at his cellphone, Senzaki says okay and the rehearsal will start at 14 o’clock after some preparations. As the other members mind their own business, Shinya waves goodbye and says okay. At Takamatsu airport, it is announced that flight 535 from Tokyo has already landed. Aki looks at his cellphone and checks that the travel time for the venue will take 30 minutes so he’ll ride a taxi. He walks past some people. There is an announcement from Japan aviation that those who are flying to Tokyo on flight 738 at 13:45 will have to start boarding at 13:25. When the announcement is being repeated, Aki vaguely notice that Shinya going in the airport and passes by him. He quickly turns around and calls out, “..Shinya..?” But Shinya isn’t there. He thinks that it is impossible [for him to be there].
At Office Takagi, Mush&Co. listens to the music made by Shinya. Holding the 2nd demo CD, Miwako says that this is a good song! Sou exclaims it is. Yuu happily says that it is super amazing. Riko just looks speechless and surprised. Noticing her reaction, Soichiro calls out to her. Holding the CD, Riko asks if this is a song made by Shinya. After looking surprised, Soichiro lights up a cigarette and says that it is indeed [his song]. Mush says that it always felt frustrated [/not willing to give up]. “Even if it is inevitable..in the end, I felt that Shinya, he truly really likes Crude Play, right..” Soichiro says that part is the song’s flaw. This puzzles Miwako. Soichiro says that perhaps compared to Riko singing it, it would be better if Shun sings it. Riko stands up in protest about that idea. Sitting down, Soichiro says that it is because she is comparatively transparent [/like sunshine] and it can be a better song if Shun, a positive yet has a dark side type of guy, sings it.
Gesturing to herself, Riko protests that she also has a dark side. Soichiro exclaims that she doesn’t and she is never troubled [/worried] about something for more than a week, right? Riko exclaims that she did. Sou says that she didn’t. Yuu says that he never seen her like that. Riko exclaims that it is just because they haven’t seen it!! Soichiro says that she doesn’t. “Let me say, this isn’t at all saying as to which side is better. This is your biggest weapon and it is your personality. If it is you, you definitely would choose to advance until the end no matter how hard it is. No matter what happens, you will not commit suicide. On you, there is this unwavering resilience. Whether it is during the MS or the time at Budokan, that resilience has moved the audience. That is your..you guys, Mush&Co’s biggest weapon. It is personality and also, the strong point. But it isn’t so with Crude Play. Bright yet hiding a darkness. Strong yet frail. This kind of uneasiness is where their charisma is located. *gestures to the CD*...
...This song expresses out Shinya’s beautiful part. Very eccentric yet sincere. Pretending to be indifferent but kind [/gentle]. *the others are moved by this* A lot of this is expressed within this song.” At the roof of Takamatsu airport, a kid points out to an airplane and asks if that is the airplane that papa is riding. His mother says yes, and it is waving goodbye. The kid calls out bye, b—ye. While sitting on a bench, Shinya looks at the flying plane. Then, he says, “Ah. So. He will definitely receive the Stingray.” A taxi arrives at the concert venue. Aki goes out of the taxi and is met up by a staff member. In the dressing room, Shun says Kaoru is the killer. Pointing to himself, Kaoru asks why, how come it is him. Teppei says that he also agrees. Kaoru nervously says wait..tell him clearly! “It really isn’t me! It is absolutely not me!” Upon seeing them, puzzled Aki asks what they are doing. With cards on the table, everyone says, “Werewolf.” [/mafia party game wherein players will guess who is the werewolf/killer]
Shun tells Kaoru that he is absolutely the werewolf and it is already exposed. Kaoru is flustered. He opens his card and he is indeed the werewolf. And everyone rejoices for the villagers have won. They laugh over how they can easily deal with defeated Kaoru. Shun happily asks if they’ll have another round. Seeing him smile, Aki smiles a bit. Shun notices this that he asks Aki to join them in the next round. Aki refuses for he is absolutely very weak at that but if it is Shiritori [Japanese word game], he’ll join. Senzaki looks at his cellphone and says that it seems that it is almost time to prepare so please get ready for the rehearsal. As the others keep the cards, Shun tells Aki to properly look at them, producer. Aki smiles back and says that is nonsense, for he went here from Tokyo just for this. Senzaki asks a staff member if he has seen Shinya. The man says no and it seems that he isn’t back yet. Puzzled Senzaki says that is rare. He tries calling Shinya but he only gets message that the phone isn’t being answer so if something is up, please—
Senzaki hangs up the phone and looks at it. Aki asks what’s up with Shinya. Senzaki sheepishly says that it is nothing, it is just that while waiting for the rehearsal, he went out.. At the concert hall, Shun and Aki are chatting. The others are tuning their instruments. Shinya’s place is empty except for his bass guitar. Shun asks Senzaki if he still couldn’t contact Shinya. Looking at his phone, Senzaki says that it seems that there is no signal there. “I’ve called so many times but it is switched over to voice mail...” Gesturing to the side, Shun tells Aki to substitute for Shinya for the lighting check. One of the staff shouts that it would be a great help, gorgeous substitute- Aki reluctantly goes to Shinya’s position and stands where the T is placed on the floor. He asks how it is. The staff member says no problem and tells him to please stay like that. Shun looks a bit flustered at Aki while they are testing the lighting. He smiles and mutters that even though Aki can really stand[?]. The other two CP also blush a bit. [<- feeling nostalgic?]
Another staff member shouts an apology [for interrupting them] and says that it seems that the owner of a music store has brought over a Stingray for Shinya. This puzzles Aki. Aki opens the case to see a Stingray bass guitar. Kaoru asks then, where is Shinya. Aki’s cellphone beeps. Thinking that it is a message, he takes out his cellphone from his pocket. After reading it, he is surprised by it. Shun calls out to Aki. Aki asks what he thinks this meant. It is a message from Shinya, “Really sorry [but] do not use my bass. As substitute, I’ll give you a present.” Aki starts to recall what he has seen at the airport. Coming through the airport door, it is Shinya. End flashback. Becoming flustered, Aki asks what, what is going on. Kaoru nervously says that perhaps, Shinya is going back to Tokyo. This surprises everyone. Kaoru says that yesterday..he might have overheard what Shun said on the phone. This surprises Shun. ‘Without Aki in the band, how could he..’
Comment: And this chapter is all about ‘observation’. Aki has already observed/realized that Shun isn’t too happy in a band without him but he just turned a blind eye to it. Why? I guess he would rather have Shinya playing bass for ‘perfect beautiful music’ compared to if he is playing it. That is what Mari is insisting so she is using lip-synch. Well, Shun doesn’t care about that and probably about popularity or anything else. It is just simple, playing in a band with his best friend. Since it is mentioned how Shinya loves CP and everything, he is going to do them a big favor by letting go and giving back what isn’t really his. I’m not too sure if it is a good thing but in the end, it is a huge thing for him to do it..or rather, his intention/reason for doing it. I mean, for him to just let Aki replace him, he might be shortchanging the CP fans. Again, Shun and the others probably do not care about that. Probably Shinya knows that this might be the ‘big last one’ since Shun’s father is in critical condition. It might be the last chance to play with Aki again as CP in a band. I guess Aki ought to more or less know how to play the songs and how to do a concert even if he can be a bit uneasy about it. Oh well, maybe he’ll pull through it for this might be the last concert. I’m not sure though if he is aware of it. At least, he might remember how much fun it was to be in CP before.

As for Riko, the girl’s observation of the Shinya’s music shows how in-depth her music sense is. She and Soichiro are the ones who had felt it. I do wonder if Soichiro will indeed give that music to CP. If they disband, then it will be Mush&Co’s. Soichiro is also a very keen observer of people. He knows what makes them tick and everything aside from music. I do recall before with Mari, that he tends to match songs with the personality of the singers. I do wonder whom he is implying about ‘committing suicide’. Maybe it isn’t like literally killing self but rather spiraling down and ruining one’s career. It made me think of Mari. I’m not sure if it is applicable to Shinya because of what he is currently doing. It seems that Soichiro isn’t that willing to give up on the Co. of Mush&Co when he positively commented on them. Well, if Shinya is going back to Tokyo though he probably missed that flight mentioned in the announcement, what would be the reason for it? I mean, he isn’t that close with the Sakaguchi to look after Shun’s mother. I would think he might sulk it out at the airport still, why at the airport unless he does plan to go somewhere? 3. Sigh... I pity Shinya.

I also pity Shun. How did an innocent happiness of playing in a band with your best friends became so warped that it became the thing that hurt another person. All those fame and money and success seem so empty now. And it's a pity that it took them this long to achieve that happiness again. And at the cost of someone's pain nonetheless. It's just a pity.

  4. Thanks for the summary! I used to hate Shin, but now I feel sorry for him, which makes me likes him for giving Aki an opportunity to play with his band. Besides, I know he is a famous person, but why did he got out of a van by himself without a security (body guard) with him)? Many people will flocking around him if they see him! That makes me wondering. <3 Tika

    1. Thanks for reading, Tika ^-^

      Yup..and make Shun happy.

Good point. I checked the place out and it seems to be the smallest prefecture in Japan. And if you look at the concert hall, it is small compared to Budokan. So, I'm thinking that there aren't that many CP fans there like in Tokyo for people to flock around him. And, it makes me wonder why are they having a concert there. ^^;; So, the place must be a bit like a province. Anyway, that's the only reason for it that I can think of.

  6. First of TY! And I think Shinya didn't get on the flight since he is still unsure if he wants to see CP with Aki playing bass. You know there are times when you don't want to see something because it breaks your heart but there seems to be a compulsion for you to see it.
