KILL the ROSE [Chapter 6 - Encounter]

Eyde struggles from her captor. Her captor tells her to please calm down. “I don’t have any plans of harming Your Majesty.” When her captor let go of her, Eyde quickly turns to look at her captor and says, you are... It is Cyan.

Cyan gestures for her to be quiet. “Please forgive my rudeness. It is because there is something important that I have to tell you in private.” Angry Eyde says that even if what she has to say is important, doesn’t she think that using this kind of attitude towards the ruler will be pardoned!?

Cyan says that if she plans on punishing her then punish her after seeing this. She pulls the side of a painting. The wall moves and it reveals a secret room. Eyde goes inside and asks what this is.

Cyan says that it is a secret room to watch over the reception room. “Besides this place, there are still many other rooms in the palace that are like this.” Bewildered Eyde asks how come until now, she didn’t know of this kind of place.

To Eyde’s surprise, Cyan admits that these rooms are created in order to monitor [/spy on] Her Majesty. “...Your Majesty is secretly attracting guests, the previous generation’s counselors, who appear to have already been expelled out of the political circle. Does Her Majesty intend to pull them to your side?”

Eyde asks what about it. “Do you have any objection? I know that you are Oberto’s adopted daughter. Do you plan on hindering me for your father?” Cyan says that even if she totally empathizes with Eyde’s feelings for not having any comrades that she would even want to clutch the last straws [/one’s last hope]...

Pulling out a book, Cyan tells her to please look at this. Eyde hears some men laughing at the other room. “That girl really came to us to seek help. Even if she is the ruler, she is still a small child who cannot distinguish things.”

“She’s both immature and stupid. It is really better to take advantage of her.”

“Right now, we’ll just casually agree with her and later on, we can score big.”

“Then, we will become the new Three Ministers?”

“That would be wonderful. Ha ha!”

This made Eyde kneel on the floor in dismay.

Cyan tells her that in this kingdom right now, everyone wants to take advantage of her. “Please do not look for people who’ll be loyal to you. That kind of person doesn’t exist. Go and look for people who has the same goal as Your Majesty. That way, it will save more trouble.”

Eyde asks, same goal? Cyan says, “To expel the three ministers. As regents, they’ve ruled for 10 years. There should be many people who harbor hard feelings towards the three ministers’ tyranny. *holds Eyde’s shoulder* If you cannot find these people, then you don’t have any chance of success.”

Scowling Eyde looks at Cyan and asks, what about you? Cyan says, “Thus... *kisses Eyde’s head* I like Her Majesty. *smiles at surprised Eyde* I hope that your rude and impetuous rebellion can attain success. I hope that you can distinguish between right and wrong.”

At a bar, Louis watches as Lennon chugs his beer. Lennon exclaims that it tastes really good. “A schwarzbier [black beer] tastes great after work.” Louis asks him if it doesn’t bother him that he killed so many people.

Lennon slams his glass on the table and asks, “Does a farmer feel guilty for harvesting wheat? Does the miner apologize to the mineral? Does the cook apologize to food? It’s the same reason with me, it is just work, that’s all. So, there’s nothing essentially to be concerned about, is there?”

Louis asks work, what is his work? Lennon says that is to kill the people his father Oberto has assigned him to kill. “For example, those scums just now... *points at Louis* Or perhaps, a chaste and virtuous wife who committed adultery with a young fellow, those types.”

Realizing who he is referring to, Louis exclaims if that lady, he also... Lennon says that it is alright, Oberto still has many other wives. Louis exclaims that he isn’t talking about that.

Lennon says that his father is a generous man. “Wives are ornaments. Like Cyan, an adopted like me are his capable assistants. As long as one can properly finish the work that he had set up, then one can attain an equivalent reward. Isn’t the so-called society like this, too? If a person properly does his job, society can properly function.”

Louis tightly clenches his fist and thinks that if one fails in one’s ‘work’, then... Lennon puts a bag on the table. While Louis inspects its contents, Lennon says that this is the money that Oberto promised him. “It is your reward for successfully seducing the queen. Then, I’ll quickly discuss the next task.”

Taking the bag, Louis says no, he didn’t hear about being attacked like this so he won’t do it anymore. “It is already enough that I protected the queen from those men who were aiming for the engagement.” Louis starts to leave. Lennon tells him to sit down first.

Louis ignores him. Lennon says, “Please sit down, Mr. Louis. If you were to walk away like this, perhaps some thing will befall on your ‘mother’? *Louis glares at him* Or perhaps, your sisters? It’s really such an ordeal to have so many treasure things~”

Lennon smiles as Louis turns around and pulls a chair. To his surprise, Louis sits beside him. Putting his hand on Lennon’s shoulder, Louis says, “Hey, I think you doesn’t seem to understand. Of course, I’m thankful to you for helping me deal away with those inconveniences.”

He pats the bag and continues, “‘As long as one properly completes one’s job then one can obtain an equivalent ‘reward’, right? So, as long as you tell me what’s the gist of the next reward, then I can also be more enthusiastic, right? Don’t do this boring threat.”

Lennon asks if he means that this amount of payment is still not enough? Waving his index finger, Louis exclaims basically, don’t even say that it is enough. “Obviously, I have won over the queen and had put the entire country in my hand. In the end, the reward is merely giving me this little bit amount of money. I really don’t expect that!”

Louis shivers when Lennon says that Louis really catches his fancy. “Then, this is Oberto’s next instruction. “First, use flowery speech to deceive the queen into getting rid of foreign affairs minister, Tequila.”

At the balcony overlooking the gardens, Eyde is in deep thought. Louis approaches her and hears her sighing. Louis asks if she is alright since her complexion doesn’t look good.

Eyde says huh, well, his complexion also doesn’t look good. Louis nervously laughs and asks what happened. Eyde tells him that based on the news that he gave her, she tried to call over some central faction from the notable former families. “In the end, they are also the same rotten corrupt lot.”

She recalls Cyan telling her that everyone in the country wants to use her. She adds, “Even if I don’t have hope that they’ll be loyal to me but it is a lot better if there are many who have the same principle. In spite of everything, there is no one worth trusting.”

Louis happily points to himself and asks if she is throwing him to the side of what she said. Eyde lamely looks at him which made Louis asks what her eyes meant and he’ll get hurt.

Louis thinks that in the end, he wasn’t able to reach the level wherein she’ll trust him. “I really wish that she can trust me more. Ah— The queen expects to have people who have the ‘same goal’ and Oberto’s wish is getting rid of Tequila... *cogs moving* ...Isn’t there a ready-made best candidate who can make the two sides sufficiently meet?”

Louis asks if Eyde has gone out of the palace before. Eyde says it seems that she went out once...when she was young. Holding surprised Eyde’s hands, Louis exclaims that’s great then let’s go on a date outside the palace. “And, during the date, one can calm one’s head. What do you think?”

Pulling away her hand, Eyde exclaims right now, in this situation!? “Can’t you even see the mood here?” Louis whispers that it is possible that they’ll encounter the suitable person Her Majesty is looking for. Scowling Eyde asks, “What ‘possible’, tell me clearly.”

Louis nervously says yes, can...encounter. Eyde looks at him then quickly heads inside. She shouts that she is going out so prepare the carriage. “Prepare it immediately, right now!” This surprises Marion and the other maids.

Eyde orders to keep the guards at its barest minimum since she doesn’t want to cause unnecessary disturbance. Marion asks how come it’s so sudden. “It is very dangerous outside the palace. If you were to go out, then, let me also...”

Eyde shouts that she’s going on a date, don’t interfere, Marion! This shock Marion who furiously glares at Louis. Louis thinks that he is now being thoroughly hated by Marion. Soon, the carriage is prepared. Marion tells Eyde to please be careful and return before sunset.

Eyde tells her not to worry since she isn’t a child anymore. As the carriage leaves, Marion thinks that frivolous man had unexpectedly gone so close to Eyde. “I was too careless. I must think of some way to...” Eyde glances back to see Marion heading back in the palace.

In disbelief, she says that she can really go out like this. “I even have the image of a queen who doesn’t distinguish reason due to being engrossed with love... *covers face* Ah ah ah I’m sorry Marion!”

Louis assures her that it is okay because like this, the three ministers will relax their vigilance and conveniently, they can play to their heart’s content! Eyde tells him not to be so relaxed since she doesn’t really plan on...

She stops and takes a deep breath. She says that the air isn’t the same. She looks out the window and sees the countryside and towns. She exclaims that this is the outside world! Louis says then, let us go to country’s biggest clothes store, the Boutique de Livi!

In the boutique, Louis tells Eyde to look at this, using red dye to make this high grade embroidery, and this season’s limited silk attire. “Do you want to wear this, this and this, it will definitely be very prett--”

Scowling Eyde refuses. “I don’t plan on buying clothes. I came in order to search for a comrade.” Louis exclaims how can that be, when it is obviously a rare date. This made the attendants laugh which embarrassed Eyde. Eyde says that she cannot deal with him and since he says that...

Louis calls an attendant to bring all the men’s outfits over there to him. Louis wears one after another but Eyde rejects all of it, and tells him to change again. This irks Louis. He hopes that there will be a day when he’ll make her know of his skill!

While looking at some other clothes, he sees Olivia and calls out to her. Olivia says that she got his message and unexpectedly, he took the initiative to come to her store. “It is quite rare that you have money to come and buy clothes. Since you have an excess, how about first paying me back the money that you owe me.”

Louis says that it isn’t like that... The twins tell him that he cannot continue on delaying the deadline for paying and going totally naked to apologize won’t do either! Louis shouts that he never did that kind of thing!

Olivia is surprised over the bag containing gold bars that Louis gave her. Louis says that will do and he even included the interest for all of the loan. Olivia says that even if he is currently the ruler’s lover but where did he get so much money.

Louis smiles and says, ah, he’s quite relieved since he is clear of the loan. “There is no longer any relationship between the two of us.” Olivia scowls and says, you... Louis says that he didn’t at all came to return the money but actually, he wants to introduce someone to her.

Giving the bag to one of the twins, Olivia asks who. Louis says Her Majesty. Olivia freaks out over this. He tells her not to be so loud. “For you, I think this isn’t a bad thing. *pulls Oliva towards Eyde* But, I beg of you not to say unnecessary things to Her Majesty.”

This made Olivia scowl as she grinds her teeth. Louis calls out to Eyde and says that there is someone whom he wants to introduce to her today. Doing a curtsy, Olivia introduces herself and says that she is a lowly merchant. “It is a supreme honor to be able to see Your majesty.”

Standing up, Eyde says that she heard of her name, she is the head of Livi’s chamber of commerce. “Then, let me get to the point and ask, Olivia.” Olivia says yes, Your Majesty. Eyde asks what is their [Louis and Olivia] relationship.

Surprised Louis says that for her to suddenly... Without missing a beat, Olivia says physical relationship. Olivia smiles. Louis is shocked. Eyde looks astonished.

Comment: Cyan seems like an ally. She exposed the true intentions of the ones Eyde wanted to ask for help. She also gave Eyde advice on whom to rely on to achieve her goal. Earlier, she also helped cover for Louis. Since she likes Eyde, it is likely that her principle or goal is similar to Eyde’s.

It seems like Louis got himself into a gang wherein one cannot leave so easily. If it is any consolation, Oberto reward his lackeys well. Lennon is obviously a cold-hearted killer. Most likely, he was trained that way since childhood.

Still, he lacks some persuasion skills which Louis and Oberto has. In their interaction, it makes me think that Louis is older. Still, it is a good decision for Louis to react like that to the threat. At least, he can pretend that he isn’t scared easily and he doesn’t want to be paid cheaply to do their bidding.  

The current target is Tequila. Olivia seems to be the one whom Louis have in mind. Well, during the banquet, Olivia and Tequila don’t like each other. In a way, it seems that Olivia doesn’t want to get involved in all this that she quickly revealed her relationship with Louis.
