Skip Beat [Chapter 236]

Flashback: Kyouko is talking on the phone. She told Yayoi that the place where she is staying had contacted her today and said that even if they are both busy, but she [Kyouko] also wants to greet her before the day she arrives..

After Yayoi said something, Kyouko instinctively bowed in apology for causing them so much trouble for running away from home. Unfortunately, Kyouko is sitting in front of the table so she ended up hitting her forehead on it. Hearing the loud thud, Yayoi asked what that was. Kyouko said that it is nothing and compared to that, she has time on the 22th of this month so if Yayoi approves of it, then let her go back to apologize to her..

Yayoi said that even if she is happy about that but that is no good. Kyouko becomes gloomy for she thought that Yayoi won’t let her in their house again. Yayoi explained that the one who should apologize should be them for definitely, their son got her involved and furthermore, ran away with her.

Even if they don’t ask in detail, they can come up with that conclusion so even if they were to kneel down to her in acknowledgement of this mistake, Kyouko also doesn’t have to feel guilty. Yayoi said that no matter how she asked that son of hers, he would give a half-hearted reply of ‘not seeing Kyouko anymore and I don’t know where she is’.
Yayoi found that so irresponsible that if she didn’t give that stinky brat a good spanking on the butt then she won’t feel at ease. Kyouko smirked for she really wanted to see that scene with her own eyes wherein Yayoi is giving Shou a good spanking with a futon tataki.

Yayoi is shouting for Shou to prostrate down 100 times and do it quickly but Shou refuses. Kyouko found it amusing to see Shou’s objecting expression. Yayoi admitted to Kyouko that honestly, if they can meet with Kyouko this month, she wants to bring Kyouko back.

Yayoi assumed that it is possible that even if Kyouko wanted to come back but because of many misgivings, she won’t.. Kyouko mentally admitted that when Shou abandoned her, it was like that.. Yayoi said but Saena had asked them to give it up and let Kyouko do what she likes. This surprises Kyouko. Yayoi told Kyouko that Saena said that ‘Kyouko seems to have a dream that she wants to come true and it seems that staying in Tokyo is more convenient.’

Kyouko asked if that is..today..? Yayoi said yes, probably an hour before. Yayoi also said that she heard from Sanae that they saw each other and talked about a lot.. Kyouko admitted that it is so. Yayoi exclaimed for she is currently doing something so they’ll talk again on the 22nd when they will come over to see her. She apologized for being in a bit of a rush.
Kyouko apologized for disturbing her when she’s busy. Kyouko thought that tonight, she merely wanted to ask them when they are free but in the end, she didn’t think that.. Yayoi laughed and said that it is alright. It has been a long time since she heard Kyouko’s voice that is full of energy that it makes her feel very at ease.

Next time, they’ll slowly chat while having some tea for there are so many things that she wants to ask of her. That is to ask in detail about what is Kyouko’s ‘goal that she wants to fulfill’.  This made Kyouko gloomy that she wonders if by simply telling Yayoi about her goal would cause her to have a fatal encounter..

She imagines furious Saena asking what she is doing for she is absolutely not allowed to talk of the situation in detail and if she wants to say it, first quit those ‘doesn’t seem like work’ jobs. After hanging up the phone, Kyouko thought about what Yayoi said about wanting to bring her back.

She thought that if it was last year, no matter how much she hated Shou, it is very hard to imagine that she can convince Yayoi to let her continue to stay in Tokyo. It is also hard to imagine that she’ll regard her ‘revenge’ as totally different from her budding feelings for drama. After all, it isn’t really pure that she wants to depend on her acting skill to bewilder Ren.
Recalling Yayoi saying that Shou is irresponsible for saying that he doesn’t know where Kyouko is, Kyouko thinks that even if she doesn’t know since when he has been saying that but could it be that he is always protecting her in some way. Protecting her ‘very difficult to find’ future that is ‘able to put into use’ [her ability?]..

Flashback 2: While playing a console game, young Shou said that even if Kyouko is always a parrot and totally do not have a egoistic stand but after she grows up, didn’t she think of something she wants to do or perhaps what she wants to become.

Kyouko said that she has a dream. Shou asked what is it but Kyouko is hesitant to tell him since she is embarrassed. He insisted that she tell him since she knows about his dream. Kyouko continued to protest so Shou claimed that he felt a bit hurt so they’ll sever ties and don’t talk to him again. This made Kyouko frantic that she admitted that her dream is to become Shou’s bride.

To Kyouko’s shock, Shou scowled and said that he really hates girls who say that kind of boring things. Wants to be the wife of a famous musician in the future = want to have a ‘three meals without worry and can freely have an afternoon nap’ leisurely celebrity life when she is just in grade 5. Shou angrily shouted that she’s really awful for depending on him to support her. End flashback 1 and 2.
We are brought back into the present time with Kyouko’s vicious kick on Shou’s shin. Kyouko thinks that thinking over it, she felt that starting from that time, his attitude gradually become ‘cold/indifferent’ and ‘hurtful’. “You really hate it, right. Hate a person who lost one’s egoistic individuality and having an empty heart.”

Shou asks what is she is suddenly doing.. Kyouko said suddenly doing..that is her line. Taking advantage when one is down and out, not only once but even twice..thus, she won’t be Kyouko if she didn’t give him a kick. She is even so nice to come and visit him to make him feel at ease so at least, he should be thankful.

Shou shouts as if he’ll thank her, big idiot and quickly get off his foot for doesn’t she knows how many times expensive his shoe compared to her dirty sneakers. Kyouko calls him fake young master and tells him to shut up for he is getting in such a bad mood over this kind of shoe when basically, he has no right to become a young master..no, at that time, he basically cannot be called a human so it is right for him to receive a scolding.

Kyouko informs him that his mother seems to be coming to Tokyo on the 22nd. She had talked with Yayoi yesterday and met to talk WITH THAT PERSON. This shocks Shou for that is a huge development and where did that gloomy her at that time get that energy and power from.
Kyouko says that she got Saena and Yayoi’s understanding so she won’t go back to Kyoto until she fulfills her ambition (dream). Kyouko think that if it weren’t for Shou’s continuing lies, there won’t be a her who can say this words.

Recalling Shou telling her not to think too much and just carry out the future she decided on, Kyouko thinks that even if from the start there is a high possibility that it is simply a prank. But actually, perhaps, there is a a high possibility that she want to give a thumbs up and praise him like ‘not bad’ but in the end, she still couldn’t do it upon seeing his face.

Continuing to dig into his shoe, Kyouko thinks that for a young girl’s lips, there’s no deadlines [/to get justice] nor accidents or perhaps any other way of saying it. Shou shouts for her to stop that. She shouts for the fake young master to shut up for it costs around 80,000 at most whereas a young girl’s lips are more expensive. Shou shouts that is a long time ago and do not to lump him together with a junior high for his shoes is 5 times more [expensive]!!

Upon realizing that it cost 400,000, Kyouko immediately retreats for that amount is greater than her own lips. Looking at his shoe, Shou complains that it is now deformed and drooping. A person like her who basically couldn’t become a lead character cannot buy and get her hands on such things.
This made Kyouko scowl. She says that she basically doesn’t want something like a stupid shoe that is stupidly expensive that the stupid him would like. Putting his shoe back on, Shou tells him to quit with the stupid for that is just the barking of a losing dog. Kyouko tells him that from here, afterwards, she’ll fly even higher and her plan has already been decided from here on. It is alright for him to be there leisurely ridiculing her for she’ll immediately surpass him.

Upon seeing her confident smile, Shou also smiles back and says if she can do it then go ahead and show him that she can. Before she can even carry out that next plan, he has already flown in a much higher stage level. To Shou’s irritation, Kyouko ignores his speech by not listening to him and has started to say her thanks to Shouko for obliging her request and bids her goodbye. As Kyouko leaves, Shou gives Kyouko the middle finger and calls her losing dog to remember this. Shouko tells Shou to stop it for that isn’t something one must do to a girl.

Looking at him, Kyouko thinks those are the lines usually used by a losing dog and he’s really an idiotic young master. While Shouko urges Shou to eat the food she brought before it gets cold, she laments over how troublesome Shou becomes as if he is an elementary kid when he’s with Kyouko. They cannot let his fans see that..
Recalling Kyouko’s declaration of not returning to Kyoto until her ambition is fulfilled, Shou smiles. While walking, Kyouko types up a message. Somewhere else, a female interviewer is asking about Chiori’s goal (dream) whether it is something personal or regarding work. Chiori says yes, there are lots but first of all, she wants to consider whatever role she takes up to become a part of her soul, an actress that would train and admire it.

Chiori mentally laments that she failed to get that result with ‘Yumika’. The interviewer raves that is amazing and no wonder she is upcoming eccentric actress for saying things differently. So, if she were to integrate what Chiori said about the ‘Love Me section’, a Love Me member is the one who’ll carry things out to completion with love. It is the so-called, professionalism.

Irked Amamiya thinks that it is totally not that and is she even properly listening to what she said but then, it is too annoying to clarify it so she’ll leave it be. Kyouko has arrived and apologizes for being late.

The interviewer says that she came early so she decided to interview Chiori first. She introduces herself as Ishikawa. While Ishikawa takes a picture of the two Love Me members, Makino and Sudo watch them and said that it seems that a staff member of ‘Are you serious’ introduced Chiori to her [Ishikawa].
It is for some magazine which features strange goods, interesting activities and everything that is strange. The two thinks that Chiori is eccentric and also a Love Me member. It is the same with Kyouko. After a pause, the two find it strange for they don’t feel like they are envious of the two. After the interview, Ishikawa thanks the two Love Me members and apologizes for they must be busy.

She asks if she can take another picture of them after the shooting so that they’ll be in their drama outfits. Later on, Chiori thanks Kyouko for accompanying her during the interview even if she feels that it isn’t an advantageous interview.

Kyouko says that it isn’t really a bad thing since it is related to ‘Are you Serious’. Chiori tells her that she had tactly refused it and her excuse is, she is still a newbie in Love Me section but in the end, the other party got more interested that she even got Kyouko involved in it.

Kyouko tries to be optimistic by saying that it would be profitable if the publicity bring up some effect on their drama which is still in episode 2. Chiori darkly says that she doesn’t think so and it will only suffer losses. Kyouko mentally admits that it is so, so she also wasn’t able to refuse. That is because she doesn’t want ‘Love Me section’ to become famous and because she feels that kind of thing won’t reach that person’s eyes.
There is a scene of furious Saena telling her not to ever mention that Love Me section type of thing. Chiori comments about hearing for the first time about Kyouko’s goal. Embarrassed Kyouko says that she doesn’t want to say such an arrogant declaration in front of her.

Chiori says that if actresses who think that they are famous, she might sneer at them but if it is Kyouko, she feels that she can do it. Flashback to Kyouko saying that her ambition is doing well whatever role given to her and to become the most amazing and strongest top quality actress that will represent Japan.

Kyouko says that even if she doesn’t know about the future right now but she is actually feeling very confident in this next audition that she is preparing to participate in. As Kyouko and Chiori join the cast, Kyouko thinks of Ren. She feels that compared to anyone, she understands ‘Momiya’s feelings and she can perform it well.

All the more she feels that she doesn’t want to give that role to anyone else but-- During lunch break with Hiou, Kanae gets a message that seem to displease her. Hiou asks what it is. Kanae stares at him and calls his name. This made Hiou blush and asks what it is.
Kanae says that there is something she wants to specially ask of him.. She shows him a message from Kyouko asking Kanae’s help to ask Hiou to ask his grandfather to teach her fighting skills in order to increase the gap from the others [in the audition]. During Box’R shooting, Kyouko thinks but she already won’t think of unnecessary things.

Right now, being in this kind of situation, she won’t waste the reality of standing here right now. “I will thoroughly carry out the ambition that I’ve decided on.” After the shooting, the director asks if everyone is already here. Sudo says that Kyouko and Chiori aren’t here yet and it is because that person from the magazine are taking their pictures.

Inside, Chiori calls out to Kyouko in the dressing room and asks if she is already ready. Kyouko apologizes and says that she’s ready. Chiori asks if she is on the phone. Kyouko says that she is only checking her mail. Upon seeing Kyouko’s expression, Chiori smiles and asks if something good happened. Kyouko smiles back and says it seems so. Kanae emailed her that it is okay with Hiou’s gramps.
Comment: Just as Brittany guessed, the one whom Kyouko is on the phone with is Shou’s parent. From their talk, Yayoi seems like Kyouko being overly apologetic and everything. Did Kyouko get it from her? I can almost imagine her keep on bowing like Kyouko does when they meet. Maybe they’ll bump into each other’s heads while bowing simultaneously. ^^;

I wonder if the spanking will really happen. It will be amusing if fans saw that. =P Actually, depending on the body build of Shou’s father, maybe he can pin Shou down while his mother does the spanking. =P Nevertheless, we have to acknowledge the fact that Shou did help Kyouko out a lot from behind the scenes. She was able to pursue her budding interest for acting to the point of being in this position right now.

It might not be related to her revenge on Shou but it is related to Ren. Ah, the evident shift of interior motive. In that childhood scene, even if Shou has a point but I think he totally missed Kyouko’s main point. She wants to be his bride because she loves him and it isn’t about wanting to be a parasite from all his hard work as a celebrity.

It is quite ironic that he would say that when later on, he was the one leeching on her until he became famous. So, now he likes her because aside from all that, she now has an ambition for herself? So, Kyouko is venting some grudge on that kick and stomping of his expensive shoe. I guess telling him about his mother can be said as a warning? =P If only Shou knew where did Kyouko get the energy to pull herself together from the time he last met her =P

Anyway, it seems like a ‘new start’ of challenging each other again on who will be on top. Will Kyouko finally succeed? It has been a year and a few months since the last time she declared that. Nevertheless, Shou is quite pleased with what happened. I guess he’s okay with that as long as a certain self-declared rival isn’t mentioned =P

As for the interview, it might have a reverse effect on what they’ll expect. I’m somewhat confused though as to why they accepted it even if they really think that it isn’t quite advantageous to them. Is it some positive thinking that it will help them because whether good or bad publicity, it is still publicity?

Regarding her role, Kyouko was thinking of Ren then mentioning that she can understand Momoji’s feelings. I’m sure she is thinking of using her ‘unrequited’ love for Ren in acting out the role ^^ Ambition is there, preparation is there, so it is time to become an acclaimed actress in the whole country and make Shou eat his heart out ^^ Scans by 红莲汉

Sorry, it is Chiori. I got confused. Thanks for the correction ^^

      Thanks for reading ^-^

Yup ^^ I do wonder if the mangaka's drawing style is changing again..

  2. I really love Kyoko's determination in her career and I hope that she surpasses Shou someday. I also want to add that Shou and Kyoko interactions with rivalry is hilarious, but I am part of the Kyoko and Ren ship. Thanks for your summaries as always and I hope to see more in the future of this series.

  3. Thank you Kat. I like your comment as you make me see the whole story much better. I am craving to see Ren and Kyoko in the acting scene again as a lovey-dovey couple in the scene and their love development off screen. Ahh..another month to go, Ren and Kyoko love story.

  4. I honestly don't know where this manga is heading but my only guess is it will focus on Sho and probably his perspectives. I mean in a way he kinda wants Kyoko to succeed (because of that smile) but I don't know what his actual feelings for Kyoko are. Also because his parents are coming. Regarding Kyoko's role, I really want to see it in action soon.

    1. Manga or chapter? My guess is that, it will lead to making Kyouko become a famous actress in Japan then from there, international actress <- US with Kuon/Ren. Of course, I'm not sure of the pacing. How fast can she do that? Will there be time skips?

Shou does have some childhood feelings for her. He seems to also come to like/love her but knows that it has no chance after what he did. So, iirc, he plans to keep on making her hate him so that he'll remain in her heart. Basically, it is complicated =P

Regarding the parents and everything, I think it is more for closure regarding Kyouko's past and she'll go full blast towards the future = fully concentrate on her ambition ^^

Yup, and what kind of costume and everything ^^ It will be fun ^^

  6. Thank you Kat,

I like your insightful comments as well as your summary :).
Sho and Kyoko relationship has evolved a lot; childhood friend, one-sided love, abandonment, and now mutual respect as colleague.

It's a long journey, but i really really like how each character develop.
    Can't wait for next chapter.

    See you again Kat :)

  8. Hey, it's been a while. Thank you for keeping up with the summaries. I love reading them and your opinions.

I must admit that Sho's comment hit home for me. I agree with you that he missed the point: for Kyoko it wasn't about living off a rich man, it was about living with the person you love. I understand people who have a dream of their own are more interesting and attractive, but in real life when two people in a relationship have a dream and neither is willing to compromise, things can become very difficult. In a case like that, love alone is not enough, so I can't blame Kyoko for having put her relationship with Sho before her own desires.

I can't wait to see Kyoko in her new role. I can't wait to see her studying sword fighting! Specially remembering "Tokyo Crazy Paradise" I'm looking forward to the action scenes. I'm glad Ren will not play the Samurai, even if that means we won't see him as much. Can you imagine seeing him acting as Moko's lover? That would be awkward.

Anyhow, I've ranted enough. Thanks again.

That's right. And when you brought that up, I suddenly thought, isn't it ironic that Shou 'hates' that type of girls yet I'm sure most of his fans are that type of girls. They probably want to marry him too. =P It makes me think that he might be smiling and everything but inside, he is disgusted with them.

Yup, I agree. I love this mangaka's action scenes ^^

True..though he might project Kanae as Kyouko. And maybe that will hint to each other something.. I'm still not counting him out yet. I would think it depends on the mangaka if she wants to deal with some major progress for Kyouko's career as well as romance..or it is one thing at a time. Something like two birds in one stone?

      =)

  9. Kat, thanks so much for summarizing the chapter.

I'm really excited about Kyouko taking on this new role but I also want to hear more feedback about her Natsu. Perhaps because the drama is at episode 2 there isn't much talk yet. I really hope she gets recognized for her work there because although it's a bully role, it's still a different kind of character with charisma unlike Mio.

I'm looking forward to seeing Kyouko transform in this new ninja role. I am assuming of course that she'll win the audition. This is reminding me of the earlier chapters when she was first competing and we saw sparks of her genius even though her acting was still immature. I'm looking forward to seeing her breaking down the barrier to other types of roles.

Ya..perhaps, that is why they'll need all the publicity they can get? Also, based on what we know of the plot and the other actresses, doesn't Kyouko really stand out there as a 'lead role' even if it is an antagonist?

I'm sure she'll get it. ^^ For some reason, I kept thinking of a pink colored ninja ^^;; Yup..I'm sure it will be awesome especially since her 'past hang-ups' are pretty much gone now. ^^

  10. Hello Kat,

thanks for your summary! While I read it, I suddenly thought that it would be quite juicy if Shou played the Samurai in Kyoukos next movie.
Do you think that the mangaka would do that sort of thing? I mean, that would be a real challenge for Kyouko, pretending to love a guy that she doesn't like anymore. Furthermore, Ren would probably be jealous then ...

    1. Thanks for reading ^-^

It would indeed be interesting though I think the major hindrance to that is Shou isn't an actor. Since they are holding auditions for the female roles, I would assume that they are looking for really good performers and not just the usual 'good looking but cannot really act-type' of performers.

Though, I would be curious how Kanae would react to Shou since she knows what he did. ^^

  11. Have to wonder if the "bigger stage" Sho is talking about the heights he has reached with music or could he be considering getting into acting? That could be interesting. Thanks so much Kat for all your efforts!!

    Replies
    1. I think it would be music. He already made a niche there so why go into something that he isn't interested in and start from square one?

In general terms, I think they are competing based on popularity. Say..if Ren is the most popular star among the males, won't Shou be defeated if Kyouko is the most popular one among the females? ^^

      You're welcome ^^

  12. Sho and Kyouko's relationship has been developing in such an interesting way. I think he now sees himself in Kyouko, chasing her ambitions and not wanting to go back home. That's why he was so concerned about the possibility that his parents might try to bring Kyouko home. He did after all, run away so he could chase his dreams and refused to go back. Kyouko used to be so selfess for him, but now he likes her better when she's selfish and dislikes him and does whatever she wants. Kind of ironic?

    ReplyDelete

    1. True..though 'selfish' doesn't seem to be the right word since it sounds negative. ^^;

    2. Sho seems to want someone who will be his equal in terms of professional goals and accomplishments as his girlfriend. I could be wrong but I got the impression that he started to treat Kyoko badly when he got it into his head that she wanted the easy life as opposed to just loving him for being who he was to her. You got to admit though he has been consistent about what he wants for a girlfriend. Whoever she is has to be the best of the best. Anyone else can be a stepping stone to where he wants to go.

      Delete
    3. In a way, Yumichan. It might not be necessary in terms of 'equal' but rather, want to do something for oneself/has a personal ambition for one's life. Of course, having a nice body is a bonus, too.

That could be part of the reason. Indeed...so currently, the other girls/women including past Kyouko, Shouko and that other fangirl actress are just stepping stones.

  13. I'm also really looking forward to the ninja role. I'm excited to see Kyouko in action in the role and also, less of a plot point and just for fun, in a ninja outfit! This role feels like it will be very different than her other ones. Both Ren playing the samurai that Kyouko's character is in love with or Ren getting jealous of whoever the samurai is sounds fun! I wonder if there's a possibility that he won't be jealous at all and he might just help Kyouko practice for the role. What do you guys think is most likely?

    1. Wouldn't it be interesting if the samurai was Taira Murasami

      Delete
    2. True..though essentially, it is still an 'antagonistic character'. Of course, I'm not sure how much her character hates the lead and if she does underhanded things. ^^;

Well, he might not act obviously jealous in front of Kyouko. He might be 'professional' and think that it is part of the job as a performer. If he isn't the actor, he might help her in practice. Again, it depends if Kyouko knows how to tackle the character as she mentioned in this chapter.

Right now, if there are new actors and it isn't Ren, I would also assume that it would be Murasami since he is into action and he looks like a 'hoodlum' which might fit for a ronin. =P

    3. Kijima could be another interesting choice.

  14. Hi Kat, thanks for the summary!

I'm thinking that the character relationships might be quite interesting in the upcoming chapters. If Kyoko does get the role as Momiji and Kanae gets the role as Chidori whilst Ren accepts the samurai role, we might be seeing something happening between the three. After all, Ren is known for being a "co-star killer" (his opposite is said to be likely to fall in love with him)...

Moreover, I'm interested in seeing Kyoko's interpretation of her role. I'm wondering if she can reconcile the hating Chidori bit and turn it into something unique the way she did with Mio. That'd have a strong impact and no doubt it'd show Sho up. I'm also interested in her 'love' acting and how it's going affect Ren and Sho... :)

True..though I would think Kanae is immuned to him =P If it is the three, I would think of the same but it will be Kyouko who is in the middle of the love triangle ^^

Yup, it will be quite interesting with so many possibilities ^^

I'm just wondering if there will be a plot twist (Kyoko will get the main lead female character instead of Momiji and Ren will be casted as the main lead character). Thus they will have to act the love scene :D

Possible if the producer/casting director decides that it is better for the two to switch roles. Still, that role is Kanae's Love Me mission so I think it will defeat the purpose if she didn't get it.

  17. Thanks for the summary, Kat!

    So I was right, lol!

Kyoko is finally moving forward and her reaction isn't as strong to Sho as it was before, she is able to let go and ignore him if she wants without letting her feelings get in the way. In other words, her grudge is no longer there but now there is a friendly rivalry instead. Frenemies?

I can't wait for the Momiji role, but first I believe the next chapter would introduce Hiou's grandfather. There will be many new faces for this arc, I can't help smiling. Not to mention, as of everyone's talking about him, I also feel that we'll see Murasame again, though I'm not sure if he will play the ronin but because Lory was talking about getting him to LME. Then there is Maria as well. Earlier, I had the feeling she is going to do something. Ah, so many things coming up. Shou's parents, the main character playing the ronin, Hiou's grandfather, the girl who kept calling the Love Me section, and others who will be on the cast. I'm so excited! But I especially can’t wait to see Kyoko's Momiji. :)

      Yup, you were ^^

      Something like that..and also rivals...in a way.

True..I also thought Maria is going to do something then..it has been a long time since. Yup..many things are coming together in this arc. ^^

    2. I agree with you about Maria. I wondered if she had anything to do with the problems with the ninja auditions and the call to the Love Me group. So many interesting paths the storyline could take.

  19. Thanks as always Kat! If I may say, though I know many wil disagree, I really think Shou has always liked Kyouko since they were small. He just never knew how to properly show it, egoistic and all, so he comes across as arrogant and annoying. But even now I think he does what he does to somehoe protect and push/motivate her. I am not saying his approach is right though. Since contrary to him, Ren is able to do what he wants to do in a perfect manner -- whether that be to show concern or to hide his feelings. He doesn't resort to childish tactics. Given that, I am still waiting for that Shou-Ren faceoff. Haha and yes, I love Ren a lot but I also like the thrill of Shou x Kyouko. Til next chapter! Thanks again! :)

    1. You're welcome, Jacque ^-^

Like..as in romantically like her? I would agree on the points raised but I would think the scene that started this series doesn't seem like 'never knew how to properly show it'. Maybe it is a different kind of like..and something like being childhood friends/'siblings'.

What kind of faceoff are you anticipating? I mean that is different from the other faceoffs? ^^

      =)

  20. Kat, my internet name is renxkyoko. I haven't been reading SB for a long time now. Kyoko's and Ren;s relationship ( or lack of it ) is already getting into my nerves. Its unfathomable that Ren is being patient and taking time to even give a hint of his feeings for her. He's not exactly a greenhorn... after all, he has had numerous sexual encounters since he was 14 years old... and it has been hinted and implied that that is still the case up to the time he began to " like " Kyoko.

Kat, I don;t feel deep love emanating from Ren. It seems he doesn't mind if he sees her or not for weeks and months. he's acting like an older brother or a mentor.

ren's ambition is to go to Hollywood. maybe he knows he cant actually take Kyoko there ?

    1. megaworthit, true, but I think Ren is trending with Kyouko lightly especially since he still believes that she has shut her heart from love. Also, he did had his issue regarding cannot let himself fall in love as some form of punishment. He might not be greenhorn in that department but he is when it comes to romance as Lory pointed out.

I cannot exactly say that there's no deep love just because he doesn't extremely miss her. Maybe if he is a high school student, or an actor who has lots of free time. I'm not sure that should be demanded from Ren because currently, they aren't even going steady and there's no commitment. I think given his busy schedule, the time and attention that he is giving Kyouko already means something.

I think they'll go there together. For her to meet with his father seems to already hint on that possibility. Why can't he take her with him?

    2. Hi kat! I guess my view on Shou was influenced much by the last few episodes of the anime. Shou getting jealous, though some may argue it's more of an ego thing. And the "deer in front of headlights" analogy. It's like he actually cared that much but either he doesn't know how to act it out given his egoistic and spoiled personality or he doesn't realize it was more of because he liked her that he cared but wouldn't show it. Or perhaps you were right that it is more of a brotherly thing. It's just that I am someone who tends to get overly hopeless romantic and I love reading between the lines that way. Haha. Faceoff... something like Shou finally admitting he likes Kyouko and challenge Ren about it (not the ego-based faceoffs before) and Ren finally saying out loud he likes her and fights Shou for it.

Megaworthit is sooo right in getting impatient with Ren. I am getting impatient too. Perhaps that's why I want another faceoff to finally get Ren to do something boldly, drastically, as Ren and not in the guise of fairy Corn. Yeah, so as much as I want Ren finding out Kyouko actually likes him, I feel like that would make things too easy for him. I want to see him "struggle in getting Kyouko" and not "struggle in controlling himself when it comes to Kyouko". It's like, "Awww you are sweet/too kind/mature and kyouko needs that, but hey! Until when are you guys going to be like that?!" Hahaha. But I guess another interesting twist that would make him struggle is if Kyouko finds out the whole Corn thing and feels betrayed... and so on.

Shocks, I feel like such a bad person to Ren. Just looking for thrill I guess. I miss the feels of previous arcs with Ren+Shou+and that goth band guy. Haha.

We'll see. I can't wait for the next chapter. Thanks for always sharing your summaries and commentaries. ;)

    3. I get your point, Jacque. It's possible though I would think that it is some high school-type of scenario. Perhaps, I couldn't imagine it? There's basically nothing to fight Shou with when Kyouko is already his. And, how will he do that? I cannot imagine Ren stooping down to Shou's level/antics.

And, if Shou admits that he likes Kyouko to Kyouko, that is basically game over for him. I get the impression that is part of Kyouko's revenge earlier. Of course, lately, it seems to be limited to their career on who's more popular/successful.

Hm..isn't that what he is already doing that is causing the 'slow progress of the romance'? After the Guam arc, I'm under the impression that he is already dropping hints to Kyouko but Kyouko is 'ignoring' them for she doesn't want him to know of her feelings towards him.

Until when...most probably until the end of the series. I have a feeling that the series will end when they get together. Even if that is a likely development, I'm not really anticipating that feel betrayed that he's Corn emo stuff. The story's pacing is slow and it comes out once a month. It might take years to resolve that and might set them back to square one.

      Thanks for reading ^-^
