Namaikizakari [Chapter 30]

At the pool, Yuki tells Shou that if there is something he wants to say then say it. After a pause, Shou replies that making him wait for three months is way too long so he is going to find someone else. *thug* Yuki has fallen down her bed. She thinks that it is a dream again and it’s very strange because if there is something that he wants to say, he is the type of guy who’ll definitely say it immediately. Yet unexpectedly, he is hiding something. At school, while leaving with Abe, Shou asks what’s going on, he doesn’t feel like doing that. Holding a broom, the teacher scolds him over ‘not feel like doing it’ and calls him stupid for didn’t he say that if anyone is ten times late for the first period, s/he are going to do general cleaning during the afternoon. Shou says that the morning practice has just ended. Abe laughs and says that it’s too bad, he’ll go ahead. Then someone shouts who says that Abe is going ahead when he’ll also do general clean-up. Abe exclaims in disbelief. Yuki is folding the clothes in the club room. She wonders what it is that Shou doesn’t want to say out to her. When he was staring at her, she thought that he is going to say something but in the end, he pinched her nose. She thought that he came to cause trouble with Shizuka but in the end, he just casually walked away.
Perhaps he was thinking of using some vulgar joke [<- you’ll be more moe if you have a bit more meat on your butt] to fool her in order to get away. But, he is very obvious and he isn’t the same as usual-- Then, she remembers that she forgot her whistle in the gym so she must immediately get it. When she opens the door, she bumps into Shou. Shou comments that she is still here. Just when surprised Yuki wonders what to say, Arisa calls out to Shou and says that she is telling him that if it is lunch, just eat a bento box from the convenient store because if he goes back home, he’ll definitely say again that he got careless and fell asleep. Holding a broom, Arisa is surprised to see Yuki who immediately backs away from Shou. Arisa tells Yuki that today, they were punished to do some general clean-up. Shou says that he wanted to buy lunch but in the end, he noticed that he left his wallet in the room. Yuki says he did again, and he better pay a bit of attention to it, geez.. Leaving, Yuki says that she still has work to do so there’s no need for them to lock the door. After watching Yuki leave, Arisa tells Shou, who got his wallet from the locker, that she deliberately said some things that will make things difficult for Yuki.
At a sports shop, some girls are saying that Shizuku looks tall and handsome. While looking at some product, Shizuka recalls asking Yuki when they are going to meet again next time. He suddenly hit his head on the shelf and laments over being careless and saying that out. The girls think that he is a bit of a weirdo so they should go. Recalling Yuki’s surprised and slightly blushing expression, Shizuka thinks that perhaps it is already exposed and by the way, for him to say, ‘next time can we meet again’, what he would talk about if they were to meet..!! He.. Then, he is startled when Amamiya wonders out loud what that guy is thinking. At the other side of the gondola shelves, it is Amamiya and Nishiyama looking at some shoes. Nishiyama asks who it is. Amamiya says that it is Shou, he asked Shou during summer vacation whether or not he wants to go out [and have fun] with Yuki but he unexpectedly ignored him, that brat. Nishiyama agrees for it seems that there is totally no progress when obviously, it wasn’t easy to confess during the camp. This surprises Shizuka. He suddenly appears above the shelf and exclaims what’s with that confession. He startles the two. The two says that he is Misuzu’s..trump card who is not only got excellent basketball skills but very popular, too..the enemy, their enemy!! Muttering about ‘confession’, Shizuka asks who confessed to who..?
At Machida residence, second triplet complains about being hungry. Yuki tells him that she’s currently cooking pasta so wait a bit. While cooking, she recalls how Arisa fiercely glared at her while saying that it is because she likes Shou so if Yuki doesn’t need him, she wants to have him. Yuki thinks that her eyes are so sincere and it is simply like the look of someone who plans to throw a 3 point shot. She wonders how she should have answered. Could she also say, ‘I also like Naruse..?’ If she were to easily say it out before, won’t it be quite awkward. Considering the thing between her and Shou is her own problem so it has nothing to do with other girls. Anyhow, in considering Shou, she can ONLY PAY ATTENTION TO HERSELF, and where does this self-confidence come from. Then, the twins are squealing and calling out to her. Yuki tells them what is it, she is currently cooking [/using fire] so don’t come over. The twins exclaim that in front of their gate, there is a very tall guy..!! This made her aghast. Rushing out the house, Yuki wonders, could..could it be.. And she is speechless to see Shizuka looking aghast. As he timidly greeting her, his finger is about to ring the doorbell but he wouldn’t dare press it.
Aghast Yuki thinks that she was mistaken, and what’s up, compared to Shou, Shizuka is more difficult to deal with. Yuki asks him how come he knows where her house is. Shizuka tensely says that a while ago, he met up with Ryuhoku team members and he asks them about it. They told him that it is possible that it is at this side.. “About that..there is something that I want to ask you no matter what..” Yuki recalls about him want to meet her again and in the end, he is asking about that. To his surprise, she says that she understands, it is regarding the summer vacation’s practice competition, she’ll talk about it with the coach. After a pause, Shizuka exclaims, what the hell— [<- carelessly didn’t use polite language] so Yuki was startled. Yuki asks if what he said about ‘meeting next time’ meant something else. Shizuka exclaims that it is totally not about that and her brain is still filled with club activities!! “What I want to ask you today is whether or not, Shou..” He pauses and wonders what he is doing. Flashback: Shizuka asked the two who confessed to who. Nishiyama said that it is trump card to manager. Shizuka exclaimed in shock and asked where Yuki lives. Amamiya asked what’s up with that, is he a stalker. Shizuka exclaimed in shock. End flashback.
Shizuka thinks that just now, he unexpectedly wanted to ask her about Shou’s confession and that will only make Yuki more distressed. It seems that she is really only thinking of club activities. Clueless Yuki asks what about Naruse..what’s up. Thinking that he doesn’t want to hinder this person who is devoted to basketball, Shizuka says no, even if Misuzu lost at the Interhigh qualifying match, but next time they meet, it won’t be like that. “We won’t lose again. I only wanted to tell you that.” This seems to have moved Yuki that she says okay. Sitting at the train, Shizuka is very gloomy and aghast for he basically does not have time to worry and it is really great that the captain isn’t around. He imagines Kira saying that Shizuka went to her house then in the end, he’s coming back, so can he call himself a man, you idiot. Shizuka thinks that once he decided ‘not to run away again’, he’ll properly face that girl. At school, Shou asks Arisa what she said about ‘making things difficult’ for her. After washing her rag, Arisa says didn’t she say that it is nothing. Shou insists on knowing it so Arisa says that he’s annoying, she only said that Shou’s ex-girlfriend and Yuki are different. Just when Shou is about to say something, Hatori calls out to Shou and apologizes for disturbing him but please help him in cleaning the window since it is too high.
Shou tells him to just get a table instead of a chair. Hatori tells him to quit dilly-dallying when obviously he is quite tall. Arisa looks at Shou and recalls the time during junior high when she overheard some girls gossiping about how annoying Arisa is being all high-pitched in front of Shou. Eating her bento box, Arisa wondered what’s wrong with being in high spirits and excited in front of the person she likes. To her surprise, Shou called out to her and asked why she is eating alone [by the stairs]. Arisa said that she was pushed aside by the others because she is always around him and they aren’t used to it. That is because Satomi and Miho like him. Shou said what is that, really troublesome. Continuing to eat, Arisa said that she’ll temporarily learn from experience and let them cool down their temper. Shou threw some manga near her feet and told her that those are very interesting. He’ll bring her the rest tomorrow. Arisa angrily shouted if he wasn’t listening to what she said, and temporarily, it is better for her not to talk with him. Shou said that he doesn’t care and why would others be the one to decide on whom one wants to be friends with. This surprised Arisa. Then, some girls are talking with Shou about him eating his bento box earlier [before lunch break]. Arisa wiped her tears. End flashback.
While walking fast, Yuki thinks that Shou said the general clean-up will start this afternoon so right now, he is still at school. She muses that Shou does what he wishes and is also willful that he doesn’t care what others do. No matter when, he won’t be at a loss so perhaps, he is also finding the answer on his own. Really a stinky brat and how can she allow such a thing to happen..and if he would think of using some vulgar joke to fool her and get away with it again, just go ahead and try it. At school, the teacher exclaims that it is now clean so listen up, during the second term, they should wake up early and not be late.. He asks where Shou is. Abe says that he isn’t around. The teacher wonders if Shou already went home. Arisa looks thoughtful. Sitting in the classroom, Shou is looking at his cellphone. Arisa asks if he wants to call Yuki. Shou glances at the side to see her by the door. Shou looks back at his phone and says that he isn’t calling. She asks why. Shou tells Arisa not to say unnecessary things to Yuki again for she will immediately remember it in her heart. Arisa says that is quite rare when normally, he would have an obvious indifferent expression towards others. Shou says that Yuki isn’t ‘others’.
Recalling how Yuki said that it is her fault because she is always thinking of him, Shou says that he is a bit unhappy. “..I do not want her to show that kind of pained expression. *bumps head on the desk* By the way, it really infuriates me over how stupid that person is.” Arisa asks who he is calling ‘stupid’, is he talking about Machida-senpai. Putting his head down on the desk, Shou asks who else it can be except for her. While Yuki is walking around the school’s hallway looking for Shou, she thinking that he might have left since no one is there. Still in the classroom, Shou says that Yuki’s brain can only have one thing at a time, obviously, she is really slow-witted but in anything, she won’t slack off. “Even if she is totally enthusiastic but she is always busy..in order for it not to be exposed, she can only show a serious expression.. she is extremely cute..” Arisa says that his brain really only thinks of senpai.. Just then, Yuki notices a slightly open classroom door. Pointing to his cellphone, Arisa tells Shou that it is Yuki’s call. Shou lifts up his head to look at his phone. And, just when Yuki looks in the classroom, she sees Arisa kissing Shou. After the kiss, blushing Arisa tells him to close his eyes and it is also okay for him to think of her as Yuki. While Shou looks at Arisa, surprised Yuki goes, ‘Eh, eh eh--..”
Comment: And, while the couple is having a bit of trouble, the ‘love rivals’ are moving in. ^^; Apparently, Arisa is like those other girls in shoujo. I’m thinking she is risking a lot in doing that since it would probably cost her friendship with Shou. Shou let his guard down and I guess he is probably unaware of Arisa’s feelings for her. Except if he knew but since she isn’t doing anything, he ignores her antics/peskiness. Apparently, Arisa is desperate enough to do that. Again, there are few possibilities for it. It is because it is the first time Shou fell in love like this. She doesn’t want to wait for him again. Do it while she has an opportunity to do so = they are not yet going steady. For her to do that, I guess she wasn’t that insecure with Shou’s ex-girlfriend before. As for Shizuka, still dilly-dallying...and Yuki is clueless about his feelings. I wonder how come Amamiya and others told him about Yuki though. ^^; But then, since they are talkative, they might mention this to Shou during the club meeting. Anyway, what we can anticipate in the next chapter are, Shou’s reaction, Yuki’s reaction and if Shou notices Yuki is there. Yuki is already thinking of being gutsy into saying that she also likes Shou though she might misinterpret things after having that kind of dream.  Scans by 红莲汉

The mangaka is so cruel to do that to Yuki 😭
Ugh.. I feel really uneasy right know!! Hope Shou notice that Yuki is there soon and explaining what's going on.

Well the story has become more complicated but interesting as well.
The thing that makes me more curious is what would happen afterwards. And looking at Shou's eyes in the last page make me felt uneasy. Would Shou really going to close his eyes? Would he notice that Yuki was standing there and watching them? What will Yuki do over this incident, is she going to make a move? She should just get Shou back before she really lose to Arisa.
Fuuuhhh.. I am being fired up here, haha ( ̄∇ ̄)

      Yup...lots of possibilities.

As for losing to Arisa, I don't think so since Shou doesn't have any romantic interest in her. Just like Yuki doesn't have any towards Shizuka. I think it is either to cause misunderstanding between the two or force some progress between the two. ^^

    2. Yeah that's right..
I hope Shou would notice that Yuki was watching them, and then Shou will explain everything to her, same goes as Yuki, she also needs to be more honest to him..
So that, this misunderstanding won't become more worst than it is now →_→

    4. Uummm.. As for next chapter, maybe someone will calling out to Yuki (Abe could do) "manager Machida, what're you doing here?" or something like that, and it would make Shou notice that Yuki was in there. She might say "it's nothing" to Abe while walking away.
And it's end up with a big misunderstanding, just when she had a thought that Shou can think only of her, then she got that dream and saw that kiss. Fufufufu too dramatic ( ̄∇ ̄)
I think the key to solve this matter is Arisa. Maybe Arisa will feel guilty to Shou and think that it is her fault, and she heard everything that Shou said about Yuki before. So then she explain everything to Yuki that its just misunderstanding and Shou really likes her. But she should put this in the end "but if you make him sad again, this time I will really take him away from you" hahaha that sounds more like Arisa (≧∇≦)
Well it's just what I want hahahaha sorry for my silly opinion *^O^* (and my poor English) (^_^;)

    5. Probably, Viska if someone is still looking for Shou/Arisa since no one was around when Yuki came to look for him. I'm assuming that everyone left home after all that cleaning. ^^; It was also assumed by others that Shou already left. Maybe, Yuki will make a noise or something then that will make Shou notice. Perhaps, bumping the door when she is about to leave and he'll chase after her? Hehe...that already happened at the sports store. So, probably not. ^^;;

Possible though because of what Arisa did here, I'm not so sure. It depends if she would prefer that Shou do not end up with either of them rather than end up with Yuki...or, it is as you mentioned, she had a change of heart and explain things. In short, depends on what kind of love rival Arisa will become.

Don't mind ^^ And it isn't poor at all.

    6. Haha this story is too good that we can't make a prediction about what will going afterwards \(^o^)/
But somehow I don't want this misunderstanding to be solved soon, I need some more drama.
"one may smile, and smile, and be a villain..", it's from Shakespeare quotes, I think Arisa is this kind of rival haha
She's very curious about Shou's girlfriend, and found that Yuki is different from them.
She tried to know Yuki, she get closer to her, saying she likes Shou and want him, and now she pretend to be Yuki's substitute, good way of becoming a rival (≧∇≦)
We can't blame her, because she likes Shou after all. Even if it were me, I would also do that too ( ´▽` )ノ
Can't blame Yuki, Shou, or Shizuka either..

      Delete
    7. Hehe, is that so. ^^

      True.

      Hehe, you would? Well, technically, it is 'okay' I guess..since they are not going steady. I'm actually thinking that Shou has been stealing Yuki's kisses, too. Still...ah..hard to say..I guess it depends on people ^^;

      Delete
    8. Of course, if it were me I will kiss him too hahaha ( ̄∇ ̄)
Yes, it depends on each person.
Sigh, we should just leave it to the mangaka (^_^;)

  5. Thanks Kat! As always, I appreciate your hard work!

The love rivals are coming out swinging. Arisa and Shizuka are fighting for the win! Shoulda is starting to show his fighting spirit! Marisa is playing a calculated game of dare. Honestly, I understand and like both of them. Yet, I still want Yuki and Shou together.

Aww, Ms. Yuki was hoping that Shou was at the door! Man was she disappointed! Shou is no longer chasing her, but it looks like she wants to still be chased. Now, she the one in search of Shou. And she is now the one demanding answers. She is starting to remind me of someone....who is it.....?!

Shou on the other hand is slowly maturing and acting in consideration of Yuki. He is more worried about what's best for her, so he is showing restraint.

It's time to flip the script: Yuki on defense and Shou on offense!

  8. Thank you for the summary Kat!

Shou is definitely being considerate of Yuki. I think the reason he is holding back is because he is worried about Yuki. Like Shou said, Yuki can only handle one thing at a time. Therefore, because of her growing feeling for Shou she is mishandling her other responsibilities (like managing the team).

Shou does not like that his influence on her is:

    1) making her feel bad; show pained expressions
    2) causing her trouble; managing problems, school problems, social problems (Shou's fangirls surrounding her)
    3) making him doubt his place in her life; whether he is enhancing her life.

In the end, Shou wants Yuki to be happy. He does not want to cause/be the cause of negative consequences for Yuki. He's holding back because he thinks that Yuki's feelings for him have become a burden for her.

Because she is so serious, she gives 100% to everything. She takes tiny mistakes to heart, and over internalizes them as major failures. He protective of her feelings, and he understands her better than anyone. Although he wants to reach out to her, he also does not wants to cause her anymore damage/burden/pain.

Arg, Arisa! I understand her feelings but those were underhanded methods. Can she really be happy with him pretending her to be another girl. Besides, I doubt Shou would do that since he really loves her. I mean not only that he's aware of her feelings and he doesn't want to hurt her further, right? I hope they don't see Yuki and she gets away unseen. I've seen that in manga before and I want to avoid that awkward tenseness. Ugh, I just know when the next chapter comes out I'll skip the beginning and see the after math then go back. -.-"

Cannot say but most probably, it will be more on reactions over what Arisa did.

      Hehe...I think that might depend on how clingy/desperate she is and how Shou will react to what she did. Lots of possibilities though I get a feeling that the mangaka will aim for something to drag the situation. ^^;

  18. Thank you very much for summarising this chapter and the previous one, wherein I had not commented because of being too late. I had my university entrance examinations and a few more things to work on, thus, am late to comment this time as well. ^_^"
    Pardon me.
These two chapters were so appalling, that I could hardly bear to go through more pages. This manga is taking the same turns as any other run-of-the-mill shoujo manga. From a light-hearted romance between a guy who is younger than the girl and a girl who would certainly not want to deal with a childish guy, and the regular basketball fun, it went to something so unexpectedly stilted and tiresome. I wouldn't have minded this if this manga had always been the complicated type, but it just shifted leagues away from being a jocund and upbeat manga to an 'unnecessarily complicated' one. I don't want it to end, but this kind of dragging is so unnatural and ponderous that it is chipping away at my enthusiasm to read this. With Arisa and Naruse's previous involvement taking away the light-heartedness, it is almost irksome to see Naruse being so out of sorts, completely unlike his character. I was hoping that the twists would be a bit more natural.
Well, I just hope that the 'last scene' that I abhorred with all my might, may end up resolving things instead of complicating them.
Thank you for taking out the time to share your views on the chapter. If banality has a say in this, then, Naruse probably won't notice Yuki by the door, and Yuki will run away with doubts in her mind.
The 'word of the day' applies to my life as much as it does to the chapter.

So, she ran away and started to think that Shou has given up on waiting for her. It turns out that Arisa was dumped once but she isn't giving up. Yuki's friends learn about the confession and start asking if they are going steady. Shou says that they aren't. When the others are teasing, Shou says that he has given up on Yuki and won't like her again. And, Yuki left. Then, Shizuka did what a love rival should do - make a move.
