Last Game [Chapter 40]

That night, Kujou informed Fujimoto about properly talking with Souma. She asks how she should face Souma afterwards. Fujimoto advises her not to mind him since the other party will treat her normally then she also needs to do the same thing. Kujou tries to protest but Fujimoto tells her it cannot be denied that she rejected Souma and perhaps, she had hurt him but that is inevitable. Even if she feels very apologetic about it, that doesn’t mean that Souma is also apologetic. If Kujou has too heavy guilt about it, then that is somewhat rude to Souma. Even if it is difficult, Souma’s feelings are a problem that he should handle himself. And what Kujou can do is only cherish her own inner feelings. Going to school, Kujou thinks that Fujimoto is really amazing and she [Kujou] surely still lacks a lot of things. To her surprise, she bumps into Souma. While Kujou tried to recall what Fujimoto told her to do, Souma smiles and greets her a good morning. This made Kujou greet him back. Souma laughs and says that he’ll see her at the club. Kujou recalls about doing something with her feelings.

Souma quickly walks away then rests by the tree for it is very awkward and he is still very sad. He wonders if there’s no problem and if he acted like the usual. He also has to endure meeting at the club since it is still not that relaxed. He hears some rustling by the bushes that he calls out to Yanagi. Standing up the bushes, Yanagi exclaims that it is such a coincidence. Souma wonders how he can have the face to say that when his body is covered with leaves. Yanagi says that he just wants to know what’s up with them on that Sunday but then, he doesn’t care what’s up with them. Souma thinks that even if he is very frustrated over the outcome, towards these two and the club, he still..  Souma tells Yanagi that he absolutely won’t tell him. Making a face by sticking out his tongue, Souma tells Yanagi that is because he is the person he hates the most. Yanagi can only angrily call him a jerk and he [Yanagi] is a fool for unexpectedly trusting him. Walking away, Souma just smiles and thinks that he will steadily continue on moving forward and also eat the vegetables that his father sent.

Folding his arms, Yanagi curses for being an idiot to ask Souma about it for after all, he is his love rival. Even if he directly ask Kujou, that would be too yielding and he basically do not want to do that. And speaking of that, the trend for him to be concerned over those two is simply..but then, he is really concerned about things that concerns [/bothers] him. At the library, Yanagi casually asks Kujou about her and Souma on that Sunday but then, it isn’t like he is bothered by it. Teary-eyed Kujou says that Souma is very kind, very strong and he is really an amazing person. Yanagi thinks that the good feeling [towards Souma] unexpectedly rose up that she is so moved to the point of tears. On the other side, towards him, it is just a friendship declaration and he is falling far behind so he has to think of a way. Wiping her tears, Kujou thinks that she cannot always cry without end. While she is thinking of what to do with her feelings for Yanagi, Yanagi says that since she went out to have Souma, then, how about also going out with him. This surprises Kujou that Yanagi asks what’s the big deal for this isn’t strange between friends. <- masochist way of inviting. Puzzled Kujou thinks that she is going to accompany him somewhere so to his surprise, she says yes.

Excited Yanagi says is that for real, then choose the day when it is okay. Since it is time for the next class, he tells her to just send him a message when she is free then think of where she wishes to go for he’ll accompany her without exception. Kujou is dumbfound for isn’t he the one who wants to go somewhere. At the cafeteria, Fujimoto tells Kujou that this is a date. Kujou says that she doesn’t consider it as what Fujimoto is thinking. Fujimoto suggests that they go shopping for clothes since she doesn’t have class afterwards. Kujou says that even if she doesn’t, she has to prepare for the lessons of the second school [for accounting]. Fujimoto says that even if studying is important but right now, this is the most urgent [/important]. At a clothing store, Fujimoto asks Kujou to come out so that she can see if the dress fits her. Kujou comes out and says that this outfit is.. At the other side, Tachibana also comes out and asks if there is a smaller size of the outfit. The two look surprise at each other and they are trying out the same outfit. As Fujimoto comments that it is quite a coincidence, Tachibana asks why Kujou is in this store. It is a female fashionable brand store.

As Fujimoto tries to explain, Tachibana says so, she is preparing to dress up for a date. Awkward Kujou says that it isn’t a date. Tachibana starts to criticize why the outfit doesn’t suit Kujou because of her face, flat chest body type, etc. And, she starts to help out in choosing the outfit for Kujou. While having a drink at a café, Tachibana tells them that this is her strength. Fujimoto praises her. Fujimoto also says that the outfit is very cute that she really anticipates the date. Kujou insists that it isn’t like that so Fujimoto asks why. Kujou says that it is because Yanagi.. She seems hesitant to say it because Tachibana is there. This made Tachibana darkly threaten to beat her up to the point of not being recognized by her parents if she dares to have some apprehensions towards her. She urges Kujou to continue. Kujou says that even if she likes Yanagi but he already has someone he likes. The two girls go huh? Covering her face with a book, Kujou says that she didn’t mention it before but after everyone went home during Miyabe’s birthday, sleepy Yanagi kissed her forehead that she guessed that Yanagi probably has mistaken her for someone else. Wanting to rant, the two girls think that, ‘isn’t it you’.

Holding her head, Tachibana mutters how she could have lost to this person. Fujimoto tensely says that no, relax, actually, those two’s preference is comparatively unusual and she thinks that there is no need for Tachibana to lose confidence. Kujou is puzzled over what they are talking about. Recovering her composure, Tachibana asks if suppose it is like that, Kujou shouldn’t be planning to give up, right. While Fujimoto is thinking that Yanagi probably dared to kiss on the forehead because he is drunk, Kujou tells Tachibana yes, is that so..and she actually still haven’t concretely thought of it. Tachibana says that is quite terrible for the first date is very important. The clothes, the style of conversation, the way of acting spoiled and also physical contact..it can be said that one can suddenly capture the heart of a guy by just completely depending on one action. <- a lie. Tachibana suggests that she think of a strategy for Yangi is hard to deal with and for someone like Kujou whose love level is lower than an ordinary person, it would be very difficult to use charm to conquer Yanagi. Fujimoto thinks that Tachibana seems to be having fun. Tachibana tells nervous Kujou to try her very best and bids them goodbye. Fujimoto thinks that she caused Kujou to become uneasy then just left.

Later on, Fujimoto wishes Kujou gambatte [/do your best] regarding her second school studies. Passing by a bookstore, Kujou thinks of buying a reference book. Then, after choosing the books that she wants to buy, she sees a book on ‘Figuring out a guy’s heart! Capturing a guy’s heart! Dating tips” Kujou gulps. At the accounting school, Kujou thinks that she carelessly bought it, and she didn’t think that she would unexpectedly buy that kind of book but then, in any things, one needs to study it. And it is the day of the date. Some girls are looking at Yanagi who is waiting by a tree. Yanagi is thinking that despite going to eat out before, this is the first time wherein it is just the two of them going out to have some fun. Then, Kujou calls out to him. He is stunned to see Kujou wearing a cute outfit. After she greets him a good morning, she tells shocked Yanagi that Fujimoto and Tachibana helped her with it. Fujimoto helped her with the hair and make-up. Yanagi is surprised that Tachibana also helped. Kujou timidly asks if it looks strange. Looking away, blushing Yanagi says that he doesn’t think that it is strange then he says that aren’t her legs too exposed. Surprised Kujou says that she also felt cold and in the end, she’ll go home first. Yanagi stops her from leaving by holding her hand and exclaiming that there’s no need for that. Anyway, he thinks that it is very cute. Kujou thanks him.

Looking away Yanagi wonders to Fujimoto on what’s up with this, is it a trap but then, he won’t be fooled again for anyway, afterwards, he’ll step one foot into the abyss. While Kujou is thinking what was mentioned in the book, Yanagi turns to her and says that they go eat first so what does she want to.. And, Kujou suddenly leans towards him and hits her head on his chin. He shouts that hurts and what is she doing. Kujou is puzzled for tip 32 said to pretend to be unstable while standing so that there will be physical contact. Yanagi asks if she is alright, and could it be that she is so hungry that she’s dizzy. While Kujou thinking that is strange, Yanagi says that there’s no need to go to a far place for there is a restaurant with good reviews nearby so how about they eat there. Looking aghast and dark, Kujou says that she feels that is very good. She is doing it in accordance to tip 27: To make the other party’s heart go dokidoki without end, look cute and helpless. Frightened Yanagi says that her expression isn’t the same with what she is saying. At a restaurant, a couple of dishes are served. Yanagi asks if that is enough, for this is mini-portion so will she be full by eating that.

Sparkling Kujou says that it is because she has a small appetite. <- a girl who brings a multi-layer bento box to eat. Tip 14: Having a huge appetite is not good so show the side that you have a small appetite. Yanagi asks what she is saying. Soon, Kujou finishes her food and thinks that it isn’t enough but it is really delicious. Holding a menu, Yanagi says that she’s so fast and does she want to order something else. Kujou says that there’s no need for she is full. Then, her stomach growls out loud. This made her embarrassed as Yanagi says that her stomach is growling. Holding his plate of good, Yanagi offers his food to her. Kujou timidly asks if it is okay. He says yes. As Kujou eats, she thinks that it is really delicious that she is bursting with joy. Then, she notices that Yanagi is staring at her. She asks what it is. He says that it is nothing, it is just that seeing her eat with relish that he thinks of wanting her to taste all sorts of delicious food. He smiles and continues to stare at her. This made her blush a bit that she suggest that he order something again for she doesn’t like eating alone. Smiling Yanagi isn’t paying too much attention to what she said. <- right now, he is particularly happy.

Kujou finds it very strange for eating with Yanagi is something very ordinary but then, for the first time, her heart won’t stop beating while eating. Later on, they are walking down some stairs. Yanagi asks if she thought of where she wants to go. Thinking of what is written on the book, Kujou says let me think.. Then, Yanagi calls out to her and says to be careful with the steps there. Kujou looks at him and slips on the next step. Yanagi immediately goes to her to grab her hand and pull her to him. While holding her, Yanagi says that is dangerous. He asks if she is alright and she should be careful. And, he notices that they are sticking close to each other. Yanagi immediately let go and says that it is her fault for being lost in thought while walking and she is really a bit strange today. Kujou wonders what to do for her heart is beating nonstop. Seeing her expression, Yanagi scratches his head and mutters, ah, geez! He grabs her hand and says let’s go. While walking holding hands with Kujou, Yanagi mentally curses and tells himself to absolutely won’t be fooled again. And the date starts.

Comment: Well, they are slightly progressing but unfortunately, Yanagi has his guard up. What happened before after the ‘let’s be friends forever’ is really a trauma for him that he thinks that whatever Kujou does and this is probably a trap plotted by Fujimoto so he tells himself that it isn’t what he wants to think it to be. That is he is only mistaken over those obvious signs. ^^; Somehow I think that dating tip book is telling Kujou to be pretentious and cunning in getting the guy like what Tachibana tend to do. ^^;; Nevertheless, it makes me wonder what other funny things that Kujou will do because of what was written on it and fail doing them which causes misunderstandings for Yanagi. =P Anyway, for someone who said that she won’t help, Tachibana is helping Kujou in her own way. Souma seems to be moving on nicely. As for the couple, I guess they have to realize that they mutually like each other and not someone else. ^^;;; So, hopefully, they’ll have a major breakthrough as their date continues in the next chapter. ^^  Scans by 红莲汉化组
