Free Talk: To OnH readers

Ah, out of curiosity, are there people still interested in this series, Ookami-heika no Hanayome? Just last night, I found out that BaraMei of baidu has been doing marathon Chinese scanlations since last month. Currently, she is already at chapter 51.

So, I want to know if there are still MANY people interested in this series. Honestly, it is very tedious to catch up to it. The Japanese seems to be around chapter 60+ already. That would be 20+ summaries to do if BaraMei updates it all by next month or even earlier. o_O

I'm not sure if I can immediately catch up since I'm doing many other series. ^^; I'm hesitant to drop other series so that I can catch up to this asap since I'm also not sure if people are still interested in this series. It has been such a long time already.

So for now, are you still interested in reading this series? If you don't want to comment, just click the reactions below. ^^ Then, if there are many favorable reactions, I will fill up the missing chapters and update it to the arc where I stopped before. If there are still a lot of people commenting and reading it, I will continue onwards. If not, I'll stop at that arc when Reishou's aunt came to visit up to the time she leaves.

    1. Huh..wasn't it updated..in English scans? That is one reason why I dropped it. I haven't been keeping tabs with it lately. ^^;

    2. not in the latest chapter though.. It's just me being impatient because I saw an uploaded raw chapter 30 in raffmanga for the last two weeks and there isn't any english scans available as of yet. And I think the latest chapter's incredibly a good one. XD

      oh and btw, I'm also supporting for OnH! :)

    3. I see. Well, they might be taking their time. It is a series that is out every two months so they can take their time with it.

      Is that so ^^

  6. Hi! I really like this manga and saw the raws till 62. if you can, picking it up from ch 61 is good enough for me. there's a lady in the plot and I don't know who it is. worried it's his wife? am waiting for ch 63 to come out to see if I can make sense of what is happening through the pictures.

    1. i think that lady is his mother

    2. The lady with the kid is not related to Reishou. She is his little brother's mother.

    3. =) c[_] I did think of jumping but then, there is that 'slow development' between the two so it might be slightly disorienting if they are already at that stage of their 'lovey-dovey'.

  10. I don't really care much for this manga. I would prefer if you translate it only if it doesn't interfere with the other summaries since I like those a lot more.

  11. What is OnH? *blush*

  12. Why would you continue this one when you dropped Hachimitsu ni Hatsukoi and Suki-tte Ii na yo.................. This makes no sense. If you're to continue OnH, then take back those 2 series.

    1. Actually, there is a reason for it, Kelly.

      OnH was discontinued due to no Chinese scanlations. For those other two, it is due to lack of interest. At that time, I would have been able to continue them but seeing zero comments as in no one bothered to comment about those two AT THAT TIME. I've decided to drop them and why bother.

      I still do check on those two series once in a while and they still make me think that I made the right decision to drop them. HnH is a bit cliche and seems to be following the mangaka's former series...guy seems to be leaving and she is left with the other guy making some moves. As for Suki-tte, it is mostly about the other characters except for the main couple which was the reason I started summarizing it. ^^;;

    2. I'm with you
      I also stop reading Suki-tte li na yo

      Delete
    3. Suki-tte ii na yo got boring, plus that and hachimitsu ni hatsukoi chapters are being released pretty frequently, so it's only right that Ookami-heika gets translated~

  13. I dying to know what happens to this couple!!! I'm from Brazil, but I'm reading in english and catch the raws to know what's is going on!!!

    Please, continue this serie!!!!

    whatever it is, thank you for your hard work on this series

  21. Hi, Kat!

    I'm glad you arrived safe and sound at home :)

    I'm worried if you do Ookami heika no hanayome's summaries it would be too much work to do. You are already doing so much summaries, so I don't want you to overdo it. I'm worried about your health. One must rest too. :)

    BTW, @Kelly, Kat is in no way, bound to do the summaries. She is free to do the summaries of the series she wants to, so, your comment: "This makes no sense. If you're to continue OnH, then take back those 2 series.", sounds demanding and rude.

    One must be thankful that Kat is doing the summaries, and that she is always so thoughtful and kind towards her readers. :)

    And, to the fans of the manga in question, the group that is currently scanlating it, is doing summaries too (currently they are at chapter 60):

    2. Thanks Yuki for promoting us! And I agree with you, overdoing it is no good. I had to slack off because it happened to me, thus the delay in my summaries. Wouldn't want it to happen to Kat and have ALL series penalized.

  23. You have a very good attitude, Kat! Usually translators, scanlators and whoever work on this kind of stuffs are usually a walking bomb. Beware in approaching or they'll explode in your face. Not that I can blame them, they're doing it for free and readers demand new chapters from them as if they owed the readers something. I would be pissed off too. But I've never seen/read you angry. Always as cool as a cucumber. Good for you! =D Actually I'm just here to read the comments. =P Not interested in this manga. I tried to read it once but it was so boring!!! I'm all for Kanojo wa uso wo aishisugiteru. =D

  25. I agree with you to drop Hachimitsu ni Hatsukoi and Suki-tte Ii na yo.... I read them before but right now the story doesn't interest me anymore same as you... I do really really appreciate if you want to summarize OnH, it will be AWESOME!!... even though the story kinda slow but to me the plot somewhat interesting... So I suggest that you make short summary by combining few chapters (since the story kinda slow).... this way you will not too stress out... (^_^) V

    1. I agree as well!
      I actually like the slow progress; there is no person on earth who magically realizes that another person's feelings are mutual. And the class division is an important factor. I'm actually glad that Yuulin doesn't give in to her feelings too easily.

  27. Well, I don't know about this series because I've never read it but I have a couple of suggestions to relieve you from excessive loads of work.
    Suggestion 1: Don't do verbatim translation for insignificant pages or chapters, just give the outlines and save your efforts to translate the essential parts necessary to understanding the plot's development until you reach a point where you can keep up and translate each new release on a monthly basis.
    Suggestion 2: It is much faster if someone is doing an instantaneous translation and another person is transcribing. We used to do it in study groups and things went much faster "(divide the tasks and conquer the work" motto). In your case it can't be done but there is a work-around, if you record each chapter you translate using a software like "Audacity" for instance, which is a very user-friendly freeware, and export the project into an MP3 (you need also to install something called LAME for windows in order to do that; don't worry this a green download and instructions are posted on the software's main website: http://web.audacityteam.org) ==> post the file on your blog ==> ask for volunteers to help you transcribe it. If the file is 30 mn long then you need three volunteers (each will transcribe 10 mn of it and it is done). This could be a condition for the series to go on, and if it has fans then they should contribute to releasing the summaries.
    Post links to the raw chapters instead of uploading them and drop the commentary part unless you really want it. This way you will only invest 25% of the usual time needed to summarize a chapter, good luck.

    1. Thanks for the tip, RoseFleur ^-^

      I'll try to do the number 1 especially for the 'filling up' chapters though I usually tend to be so engrossed that I do it in detail. ^^;;

      For divide and conquer, I tend not to depend on others. ^^; Got bad experiences with teamwork.

      I'll probably minimize commentary though since well, this is more catching up and I pretty much knew what happened next. Also, HnR is ending in two months so I think that will give me some free time.

      Thank you ^-^

    2. Aww, shoot. And I was so proud of it, too. Well, let's try again... I think I first thanked and congratulated you, because your summaries are complete yet without the typesetting so that you gained time. IMO, people who complain about the latter instead of just looking at the raw manga while reading are disrespectful to you, who spend so much time on those. I used you as a model when I noticed that summaries needed descriptions, not just translated texts. In fact, I've followed the serie since it was at chapter 32 in Japan, and read all of your summaries. I'll also admit to using them when proofreading on particularly difficult sentences. It's only recently though that I started my own summaries, and so far I've done chapter 58 to 61. I intend to do 62 to 64, and the rest when it'll come out, though I lack time and it'll take a while. Oh, and if you want, you can put my summaries (available at Tiramisu and Stayberry tumbl) here, as long as you put the credits. If you're not sure, you can always contact me.

      As for the interest, there's people who follow OHNH on our team (Tiramisu and Trawberry), on Raffmanga and also Mangafox, so I'd say it stands a fair chance. Although I don't know how much it holds on to your other series. I don't even know which other series you do, so I can't make an impartial suggestion. To be honest, I selfishly hope you're gonna continue. But not to the extend where it'll impair other series that have their own fans.

      At Tiramisu, the translation has been done up to chapter 36, but we're currently proofing chapter 31. Which means we're still a long way until chapter 38 and more. I also think that the traveling arc starting at chapter 49 is relevant to understanding the current Japanese arc, but since there's only a few chapters between the aunt arc and this one, I guess it makes a lot of sense to continue, if you do get there. Which I hope *grins*.

      There. I hope this helps clear up a few things and help you making a decision, if that wasn't already done. After all, it's been a month already. Whatever happens, I'm glad you took the time to ask and consider, even after so long.

      I'm still a little bit dissatisfied and think my original comment was better, but at least I covered all the important points. Hope to hear from you soon! ~Crystale

    3. Ah..too bad, crystale. It tends to happen on long comments. It happened to me, too ^^; Thank you for the comment ^-^ Gambatte ^-^ I was thinking of that and thanks for the offer. I'll consider it and well, it is still a long way to reach to that chapter ^^

      Well, there used to be an interest for the series. It has been a long time since it was updated here. Anyway, based on the commenters, it seems that there are still people interested in it ^^ Thanks~

      True..actually, I think each of it is interconnected to the build up of what is currently going on. ^^

      Hehe, actually, it didn't take too much time to consider..it just so happen that I have other series to catch up to after a vacation. ^^; Comments like this tend to raise up my enthusiasm to work on the series ^^ I'm hoping to update this one asap. ^^

      Thanks for taking time to comment and re-type it again. ^^
