Kedamono Kareshi [Chapter 32]

After Keita arrived in the house, Keiko informs him that Ryou is inside and he ought to know Ryou since they are classmates. She says that Ryou’s quite a nice kid to bring Himari home when it is quite late. Keita is surprised when she says that she let Ryou stay and sit in Himari’s room. Then, Keiko hurries up to bring the drinks. Keita looks flustered and grumpy over this. In his room, he overhears from the other room how Keiko is exclaiming over how happy she is to chat with Ryou and that Himari always likes Ryou. Himari nervously calls out to her mother. Keita clenches his first and mutters about Ryou can but he can’t just because he and Himari are siblings.. Himari tells her mother that it is almost time for Ryou to go home. Keiko asks for another five minutes since it is rare to have another opportunity to chat. Keiko interviews Ryou if he has always been living here. While they are talking, Himari looks at the wall and thinks that it seems that Keita has just arrived and since he is in the other room, perhaps, he heard everything. Ryou sees her looking at the wall, and he looks flustered. Himari tells her mother that she’ll go down and ask her father if he’ll drive Ryou home. Keiko says okay. Himari goes out of the room, sighs and looks at Keita’s room. She thinks that she doesn’t know what Keita is thinking when obviously that thing happened in school [<- he hugged her], and she let Ryou bring her home. After looking sad, she decides to first ask about the car.
While heading for the stairs, she sees Keita heading up. Himari tenses up. Keita says that it seems that they are chatting quite happily. He asks if she’s mocking him that after winning the lovers competition, Ryou would specially bring her home and she even invited him to her room. Himari tries to explain that it isn’t like that. She is startled when he exclaims then what about it, when he obviously asked her not to leave him. Surprised Himari slightly backs away that she trips and sits down on the stairs. Cornering her, Keita asks what the two of them [her and Ryou] are doing. He says that they are alone in the room right. Flustered Himari tells him not to say strange things for they didn’t do anything. Keita exclaims if she understands his feelings or not. Then, he kisses her. She thinks that at this place and time, she doesn’t want this. She calls out his name. He tells her that she’s too noisy, be quiet because if she’s loud, they’ll be found out. He is surprised to see Himari crying. This stuns Keita that he stands up from her. Then, he says that perhaps it is better for him to leave this house. It is Himari’s turn to be stunned. As she looks at him, Keita tells her that he has no way of becoming the younger brother that she wants and he never thought of doing it. “Besides, it is also impossible for me to ignore this current feelings... so, I want to leave this house.” Keita continues to walk upstairs and his words are sinking into Himari’s brain. Then, she asks if he is truly leaving this house. He looks at her, closes his eyes and walks away, leaving Himari by the stairs looking flustered.
Comment: Ya, he is indeed moving out. Since I don’t think he had enough money yet, so unless he manages to get his current parents to pay for his apartment, he might have to stay with his mother. In a way, that is an inevitable decision since he doesn’t want nor have the intention of playing siblings with her and he doesn’t want to see/hear her doing whatever lovey-dovey with Ryou even if he is obviously letting his imagination go wild. Apparently, his emotions also cloud his reasoning because from that chatting, isn’t it obvious that it is Keiko who is happily chatting and not Himari. ^^; It does seem quite awkward for Ryou on how Keiko has been interviewing him and everything as if he is the boyfriend. And, neither he nor Himari, want to burst Keiko’s bubble by telling her that it isn’t what she believes it to be. ^^;; I guess this is one frustrating love triangle since everyone are getting hurt because of the situation even if all the ones involved know who she really loves. Anyway, maybe with Keita leaving, things come to a shove and someone start telling everything to their parents. Or, at least, make Keita take in his mother’s surname so that they won’t be siblings by law = problem solved. Scans by allwink

PS. There is another incest series called True Love by Sugiyama Miwako. Based on the Chinese site, they are rated about the same. In TL, the couple seems to be really blood related unless later on revealed that they aren’t. Also, they are a ‘we love each other who cares what others think and who cares who gets hurt including parents’. Currently, TL is somewhat more interesting plotwise than KK. Currently, TL’s problem is external whereas KK is more on themselves. I don’t really mind which of this series I would summarize but I cannot do both. So, I’ll put up a poll for the readers of KK if they would prefer TL to KK. Just an option if you’re getting bored with KK. ^^ Voting closed: KK wins.

Which of these two 'incest' series do you prefer to read?

True Love, please..

  1. Thanks for the summary! I think Keita will move in with his mother, and it is possible that he will change his current surname to his mother surname. <3 Tika

  3. thnx a lot for the summary. I really appreciate your hard work. Hmm so keita is leaving home. That's good step to fight with the current situation. I understand that their problem is really big as it's quite selfish to hurt parents for love like this. But still i hope at the end they'll be together. Eagerly waiting for next chapter :P

Ya..and I'm sure they will end up together.

  4. Thanks for the summary!!
Please continue summarizing KK; I need someone to be frustrated with now that my sister is gone xD
Ah, why, Himari? If she truly wants to be just his sister, she should clearly reject him and tell him it's never gonna happen. On the other hand, if she wants to be with him, she's going to have to stick to her decision and be honest with herself and her parents. If she keeps being so indecisive, she's not just hurting Ryou and Keita. I wish she would make up her mind...

      Hehe..is that so.

      That's right.

  5. If Keita will stay with his mother. then problem solved. I guess. If Himari is so concerned with their " sibling" and living in the same house situation, then Keita staying away will solve the problem. I think.

  6. Kat, just my 2 cents opinion regarding KK and True Love. Though I like True Love, and am actually reading it when it's available, KK is not incest. We don't know if True Love will turn out not to be incest at all, but there's no hint yet that they might not be. I have a problem with incest, not based on morality or societal values, but on scientific one. We all now about recessive traits and all that. It's my major course ( genetics ) , hence I kinda know where I speak of. Since you can only do one, I suggest KK. I feel a bit uncomfortable with True Love.

    1. Yup, megaworth, so I put the word 'incest' in quotes since for KK it isn't and for TL, who knows.

Is that so..though I'm not too familiar with it..is it like causing defects on the kids, right? Is incest okay if they don't have kids because of that potential problem if we disregard the scientific one?

      I see.

    2. I can't answer if incest is okay if they plan not to have kids. If their love for each other trumps all , who are we to judge ? Defects are always 50-50, but in genetics, that is extremely huge, and if the couple will have more than 1 child, there is 100% chance the recessive traits of the blood siblings will become dominant in one of the children. It's not only physical defect.... oftentimes, it's mental. Mental disorder, is, in fact, a dominant trait. It's scary. I know of a couple who have mental disorders in the families of both.... their one and only child is severlye schizo, which means non - functioning . They can't take care of him themselves ( both parents died, and child is now 27 years old, and housed in a facility...) Expenses now are on the relatives.... lucky for him that relatives can somehow afford to keep him there, otherwise, he would be taken care of the state, or worse, he'd be walking on the streets that would cause harm to himself and others. That's why, laws have been passed to make incest illegal.

That said, I'm not sure if Japan has actually banned true incest stories in mangas. ( I had read about this more than a year ago ) That of course violates freedom of speech, so I'm not sure if this ban was okayed. The rationale is that mangas are read by impressionable young readers, and incest stories might convey to young readers that this subject is okay.

True Love though has very young characters, so the possibility that they aren't blood siblings is great. It has a feel of a happy ending. That's what makes me interested in the story.... that is, I want to know how the author is gonna pull this off.

    3. I see..and I always thought it is just some physical disorder. Thanks for that info. ^^

Oh..there was a ban or planned ban. I see..but there are a lot of those stories..I haven't read the shounen ones though if they are true incest.

Is that so..hm..maybe getting rid of the mother by the mangaka since she seems to be the only obstacle now =P Or, the mother saying something that they aren't blood siblings..which is unlikely based on how she's reacting to the two.

  7. I'm always a silent reader but this time, I have to be vocal. Please continue summarizing KK. We are already halfway in the series and dropping it will leave us have withdrawal syndrome. Don't give up KK. As for True Love, there's a lot of website that are currently posting its english scanlations.

As for the latest summary of KK, I'm annoyed on how the characters response on how they will interact. Himari is always playing on the safe side. There's no wrong on being "selfless", I can see that she is worrying about the reaction of her mom and the society. But doing that makes her selfish at the same time. She only cares on how people will see her and for loving Keita, her immage would be ruined. Selfish in a way that she is hurting Keita and saving her self from trouble. But what the ef, if they truly love each other, they will take the risk and fight for it.

Thank you so much for the hard work, Kat.

    1. And, are we halfway? Ah..is that so..

True..and well, she wants to be an 'ideal' daughter to her mother. And aside from playing safe, it seems that she wants both..pleasing her parents and still have Keita by her side even if it is as a brother.

Ya..and that is what's happening in TL so I'm wondering if the readers would prefer that kind of scenario - truly love each other, who cares about everyone else.

      Thanks for reading ^-^

    2. Actually, it would be great if you could actually summarize both, but we were asked to choose only one, so KK it is. But I have feeling you like TL. He he.

    3. Unfortunately, megaworthit, I cannot do both. Summarizing is already eating too much of my time so plan to trim it down a bit as I anticipate some series to end soon. So it is a choice between the two.

      Currently, plotwise, TL is better but as I've mentioned, I don't really mind either because I have come to dislike the characters of both series..especially TL female lead. ^^;

  8. Please continue with KK. I really like the story and no one's really scanlating it now. I've also tried reading a couple of chapters of True Love and the incest factor disturbs me too. I don't know why but I feel sick kind of disgusted. I think it's because when I try to relate to the character, or imagine me being in the same situation, I wouldn't be able to feel the same way about my sibling because we grew up together and it establishes a different kind of bond thats not romantic love. I don't really know how to explain it that well :/.
But in mangas it's really uncommon for siblings to be close to each other or get along which is why I really love Kobayashi ga kawai... that one manga you're translating that has the twins who get along as siblings and care for one another. Thank you for summarizing that as well :)
