Hirunaka No Ryuusei [Chapter 67]

At the roof, Shishio tells Suzume the real reason why he hugged her. She accuses him of lying and how could he say such a lie after everything. He tries to explain but she tells him that she had decided at that time that he doesn’t like her but now, he is saying this. Shishio says that he’s telling the truth. She tells him enough. She quickly goes down and says that after everything, she doesn’t want to believe those words again. She left and later told Yuyuka about it at the toilet. Obviously, Yuyuka is angry about this. Suzume starts talking about this being cunning and mean that she totally doesn’t know what he is thinking so it is really great that it ended at that time and Yuyuka ought to also think so, too. Yuyuka tells her to stop, is she telling that to her or telling that to herself. Yuyuka says that even if she knows that right now, she is confused but for her to say those words is simply like she is telling it to herself. Suzume couldn’t reply back and just says that she didn’t know why Shishio would say these words at this time. Recalling Shishios’ reaction, Yuyuka just says that perhaps, he also has a secret[/things that are hard to say]. Yuyuka slaps Suzume’s back and reminds her that right now, Mamura is her boyfriend so don’t worry about unnecessary things. After reminding herself that she already decided to choose Mamura, she calls out to him at the hallway and asks if they can go home together. Soon, the two are walking together. Reminding herself not to be confused, Suzume is telling Mamura that the sports festival is already tomorrow and would he be joining the relay. He says ya. She starts telling him that her uncle will bring bento and it would be nice if it is a clear day tomorrow.
Mamura looks at her and asks her what had happened. This made Suzume become nervous. She denies something happened. He tells her that 1. She isn’t drooling when she obviously mentioned food, 2. She didn’t mention in detail the food and 3. This is the first time she invited him to go home together. He flicks her forehead. Holding her forehead, Suzume says that he knows [her] too well. Somewhat blushing, Mamura calls her stupid, and tells her not to hide things from him. She thinks that she is obviously not sad but why does she felt like crying. She asks him if he can go closer to her. This puzzles him that he starts exclaiming what’s up all of a sudden since she is approaching him. She leans her head on his shoulder. She thinks that the scent of the laundry liquid on him makes her feel calm as if her heart can go back to its original place. Mamura wants to hold her shoulder but he stops himself. He is surprised when she mutters, “Mamura, do not leave me.” Then, she holds up head and exclaims time to go home, thanks for today, and see you tomorrow. Mamura watches her leave. Suzume reminds herself that Mamura is only a choice she made herself. She doesn’t want to worry him, want to properly cherish him and she wants to properly look forward. Sitting in front of her desk, she touches the penguin doll and looks at the head band. She wonders why she couldn’t properly give it to him. At school, a teacher is telling Shishio about a certain teacher was injured so could Shishio substitute for him. Shishio tries to decline since he isn’t good at sports but upon seeing the list and seeing Mamura’s name on it, Shishio decides to participate.
Comment: Ah, just when I’m joking about it all being some basketball competition game, it really became a competition between the two guys. ^^;; Time to destroy the basketball court and build a track and field stadium. Shishio’s fangirls sit opposite of Mamura’s fangirls. Cheer for your respective guy, and let the race begin. Suzume would now have to choose, whom will she cheer for? Will the winner of the race also be the winner in Suzume’s heart? Based on this chapter, it does seem to be leaning towards Shishio. Suzume is bothered enough and seems to be mentally convincing herself about Mamura instead of what she feels for him. Yuyuka is, of course, biased. It seems to be a flag that she didn’t give the headband to Mamura yet. I’m not sure how to interpret that ‘don’t leave me’ and lean on his shoulder scene..is that romantic or as a friend? It seems to be a friend thing and if so, I guess she wants to keep him as a friend even if, well, she dumps him. Since Mamura is sharp and knows her well, I think he has a hint on what had happened and who is the cause. After all, when are the times when Suzume is like that? =P It probably stopped Mamura from comforting her...ah, because it would hurt later on? Given this kind of situation, I think that it will be soon, when one of the guys is going to go home crying for losing the girl. ^^; Anyway, in the next chapter, we’ll have a race to cheer either guy on, and with her uncle there, she’ll probably know part of the reason as to why Shishio lied to her. Edit: Do you know why she feels calm sniffing that laundry washed shirt? I think it is lavender scented =P Scans by allwink

  1. I think the fact that having Mamura around her, feeling relaxed when she holds him and all is why she asked him to not leave her. She's been dealing with ups and downs with her feelings with sensei and with Mamura it's just.... soothes her?

I think that if her uncle really will be at the competition that Sensei will at some point realize that it's a little too late. It sucks I know but seriously Mamura deserves happiness!! lol

Anyways I'm glad this series update a every 2 weeks... Waiting a month would kill me!!!!

  2. OMG OMG!!!!! YES!!!! THERE IS STILL HOPE FOR SUZUME AND MAMURA!!! KYAAHAAAAAAH!!!!!!! sorry i was literately jumping up and down!!! and screaming!! anyway i don't understand why shishio just now said something he has to stop playing with her its confusing her! even after uncle said he wasn't good enough for her and how he has to stop before somebody else finds out after he broke her heart in like he most heartless way you can reject someone i mean think about it he led her on almost kissed her hugged her held her hands and more when she wants to make sure he says he doesn't love her!!! WHO DOES THAT!?!! all he had to say to her was "Suzume......I do love you but your still my student and this relation ship is illegal. So we have to wait until you graduate. so until then i cant be with you. im sorry." don't you think he could have said THAT!! and not say you DO NOT love if you loved me you wouldn't do this and that. all im saying is that he had his chance with her.... and why after all that he made her go through! right when she become happy with mamura he comes in again and does this!?! i really dont understand what he is thinking. and he doesn't love her he is just doesn't want to believe that she is falling in love with someone else. if he really loved her he would let her move on like the in the song " you only know you love her when you let her go" but SHISHO DIDNT LET HER GO! so he probably doesn't love her! but mamura loved her so much that he let her go off with shishio! MAMURA LET HER GO!! so he is in love with suzume more than shishio! suzume would have done anything for shshio! anywhere she would have followed him but he didnt say something so she gave up on him! she would do any thing for him! jump off a plain for him! she would do ANYTHING for him but he wouldnt do the same! mamura would do anything for her ANYTHING!!! and im pretty sure suzume would do the same. i hope no I WISH shishio will move on and let suzume be with mamura!! mamura is everything you would look for in a guy (sadly no one is actually like him :(.. ) and shishio is a DOUCHE BAG!! and i swear to god if shishio says ANYTHING to mamura i will cuss at my computer screen and scream at the top of my lungs! i hate shshio he literally makes my blood boil. anyway Thank You for your summary :) really appreciate it thanks again :D

P.S i was fangirling at this part of the summary

    1. True..he could have said that and he should have something like that.

Ah..such a passionate objection to Shishio x Suzume. ^^ Indeed, he lost the opportunity but I think he is doing this since he hopes that he might still be given a second chance - a gamble that she might still likes/loves him. Of course, the ethics, etc on wanting to get the girl back who already has a boyfriend is open for debate.

Interesting for you to say that..somehow, I also have a feeling that Shishio might say something to Mamura in a bad way.

      Thanks for reading ^-^

      Ya, that was nice ^^

    2. Well they do say " All's fair in love and war" right ? :P I don't blame Shishio if he wants to make up for his mistakes, I think it's a pretty natural thing ! I mean, everyone makes mistakes in their lives, especially so in their relationships; I know it's hard to forgive Shishio for what he did, but I can somehow relate to him "awkwardness in speech"-wise ! xD Well, my point is that, making poor decisions doesn't make you necessarily a bad person : it just means that you have poor self-control ! ;) So don't look at Shishio with So much disdain, it could happen to the best of us; That said, we have YET to hear his words of apology which are cruelly lacking : He did confess, but he didn't actually apologise at all, nor did he explain what really happened so yeah...I can understand Suzume's confusion I guess ! :/

      Delete
    3. That's right. True, it is indeed a natural thing and it is somewhat hard to forgive. And yes, poor decisions doesn't make one a bad person..though it ought to hurt to be lied to and cried all over the place over it then be told that it was a lie. ^^;

Good point. He didn't apologize. And well, she already ran off before he could say anything.

      Delete
    4. Yeah you've got a point I guess; I too would have a very hard time forgiving him for making a fool out of me (putting myself in Suzume's shoes), however that may be, I can't be sure I could suddenly start hating him ! What I mean to say is that, being hurt by someone is something but falling OUT of love is something else right ? In other words, we get hurt all the time by people we love, but it doesn't mean we can forsake our feelings for them ! That's the beauty of love :3 Moreover, it's just like you said, she has yet to hear out his whole story ! Well, I just hope the author would keep it interesting :D

      Delete
    5. That's right. And, I think it also depends on the person if what Shishio did is unforgivable or not..and how much feeling one has for him.

      Yup, hopefully ^^

  3. I gather you all today to formally announce that I heavily support Mamura x Suzume. I SERIOUSLY want them to be the ending couple. If not, I will scream and shout (and let it all out). T^T PLEASE, OH GOD OF FANGIRLING. PLEASE. MY LIFE WOULD BE COMPLETE. Ahh love triangles tear me up ;___; BUT TEAM MAMURA FOR THE WIN. YES. YESS.

  4. As always, I thank you for your summary. OMG!! Mamura x Suzume all the way!!!!! I think it would be interesting if Suzume would cheer Mamura in that game :) then Sesnsei woulg get jealous and realized thae he is already too late. I mean goodness! mamura deserves to be happy with Suzume!

    1. Thanks for reading, yuuki ^-^

Well, in terms of deserving, that's right. As for cheering..well, let's see. She might be 'forced' to since Mamura is from their class and the others know that she's going steady with him.

  5. Mamura x Suzume! Because shoujo manga needs more of a healthy relationship than staying in love with the person who always make you cry.

  6. Thanks for the summary Kat ! :3
I share your thoughts on this chapter ! Obviously, Suzume can't totally ignore Shishio's confession as much as she'd like to, and Mamura does seem aware of the fact that "something's not quite right"="something related to Shishio" ! xP I think, (and that's my humble opinion) that if Suzume had indeed such strong feelings for Mamura, she wouldn't feel as confused as she was after his confession : remember when Mamura first confessed and she was in love with Shishio, she didn't even hesitate to turn him down ! Now, it seems more like she's in denial, like she can't believe it happened or something...
Well that's all for my thoughts so far ! :)

True..the romantic feelings for Mamura isn't that strong..yet, if there was any there. She wants to move on, etc after that, starting out with Mamura and before anything came out from that, he says that he likes her.

She does seem to be in denial, telling herself what she should do and starts questioning something that she didn't do for him. Well, maybe that will lead to some realization ^^

  8. I'dont like sensei if he did this to Suzume.......
He just made her sad and confused,i don't want if in the end suzume will be with him.I think Mamura is the only one who can make her happy and as long as the story suzume always happy and more open-minded with Mamura than with sensei,and...... Mamura and Suzume deserve to be happy together

  10. First and foremost thank you Kat for the wonderful summaries you bring to us. They are most appreciated.

If I may give my two cents on this please and be totally frank and be able to rant a bit:

I think that the people that think what Shishio just did, is very reprehensible are on the right here. From the beginning he has been really wishy washy, flaky and a very unreliable kind of guy. This move was just the drop that overflowed the glass for me. I was willing to overlook many of his sins in the name of Love... But I realized that he is a very selfish guy and doesn't act fairly towards Suzume or is even thinking about her feelings. Every time he feels lonely is he going to do this? only to leave her when things get too difficult again? I don't believe on doing this "today I love you, tomorrow I don't" game can last forever and he rejected her at least twice on the course of the manga. Once the first time she confessed and then telling her after leading her on for quite a while, that he didn't love her was the WORST. To me he has, indeed, lost his chance. Mamura backed off like a gentleman, because he realized that Suzume and Shishio might like each other, but after he hurt her on a big final blow like that, he lost the rights to come back and mess with her head again.

I mean, he didn't care much about how she felt for months after he told her off and now that he realized she isn't moping around over him and actually is going out with someone else that cares about her, he gets all jealous?

After seeing his reaction at the end thinking of "challenging" Mamura, I thought "what is he, 5 years old?" . I wish he would act like an adult for a change and not like an insecure little child that sways with the changing winds or whenever he gets an itch. Mamura is twice as more of a man than he is. If Suzume has grown a little bit and matured since he played with her heart so carelessly, she should look forward and not even spare one more thought about him and focus on somebody else that will actually give her some stability and happiness. If she chooses Shishio she deserves whatever happens to her and I quite frankly will think she hasn't learned her lesson/s. I think she did wonderful by at least telling him off and calling him off on his "pretty words". Too little, too late. My hopes are for her to be stronger in the near future. It would be a set back on her character development is she accepts Shishio at this point. It is refreshing and certainly an improvement that she is enjoying the nice clean smell of soap over the acrid smell of cigarettes. I think its great symbology.
Thank you for reading this ^^.

Well, may the BEST MAN win ;) .

    1. Thanks for reading ^-^

Yes, you may and you're more than welcome to do so ^^

I cannot say much on the previous stuff since I speed browse through it but your point from missed chance to get all jealous now, I agree.

      Indeed..and perhaps, it is lack of maturity on her part if she goes back to Shishio or it could be 'even after all the pain and tears, I still love him'. Love is more important than happiness and stability. Eh, something like that. ^^;

I actually thought she became strong when she just passed by him casually before after the rejection. Then, after that, she seems to waver and uneasy. Not sure if that is the intentionally for her as a character..or it is for the plot so that readers cannot guess the final outcome of the love triangle.

      Nice comparison. ^^

      Indeed. ^^

oohhh the lead male is sishio, and mamura just a second male
and then baaannng, they broke up, make me so upset and angry at the same time

mamura came, and make my day so lively because he can comfort suzume
    now... zzzzz

OH man Idk whome to root for with thie series! on one hand i feel that mamura deserves her more and she deserves mamura. but if she does end up with him it wouldnt follow the typical manga path of the girl ending up with the first guy she sees! OH man i wanna root for Mamura, but i don't wanna be let down if she ends up with sensei.
I feel kinda mad at sensei for doing this to her. I kinda wanted to see more development between her and mamura!

  15. So whome are you rooting for kat?
And I guess that is what will end up happening. Not that I would not be let down when it ends on tht note. But this manga is set up to end that way. Thr triangle would be over then. The main plot would be over. No reason to continue beyond that. I hope itll be mamura tho :3 do u think the mangaka has already decided? Or might she look into which one will give a less hated ending. I wish this was more like last game. There u know that kujou is going to end up with yanagi and shouma is just there for yanagi to be forced to make a move. Then again the main plot there is to find out when kujou will realize or when yanagi will grow a pair and ask her out properly.

    1. It's Mamura, Raina.

True..since those rooting for 'the loser' might not want to read on so, love triangle series usually ends when the choice is made.

I think the mangaka has decided/ought to have decided when she announced that this series is ending this year.

Hm..for Last game, I don't think it is only about Yanagi asking Kujou out..since it is 'Last game', Yanagi would be aiming for Kujou confessing to him first. Well, of course, plans might change with the recent developments. And well, Yanagi might decide to 'lose' the 'last game' against Kujou.
