Kedamono Kareshi [Chapter 31]

Himari looked surprised when Ryou held her arm and told her that he’ll bring her home. Seeing her expression, he quickly lets go and says that it is already late and they are going in the same direction. Pause. He asks if he is making her feel perplexed. He tells her to honestly tell him if that is true. She thinks that he is very nice so she cannot be vague in dealing with this. She tells him that it is absolutely not perplexing for he is so nice and helped her a lot but if what he said during the competition is true, she cannot give him that answer, so please don’t be so nice to her. She quickly walks away. She thinks that she finally said it out but it is better than not saying it clearly. Then, she encounters Ryou’s soccer senpai-friends who start talking to her about Ryou like how she answered him [/his confession] since they are curious. Himari doesn’t want to talk about that topic right now so they back off a bit with an apology and explain that Ryou is a good guy so they are concerned about him. They say that he is serious this time. They start telling her Ryou’s good points like good at soccer, has a nice character, treat girls nice and honest so they sincerely recommend him. Looking down, Himari thinks that she knows that, she knows of his kindness ever since before. She starts crying that it scares the guys wondering if they said something wrong. Ryou quickly grabs her arm and tells her not to mind what the others are saying. He quickly leads her away that his friends are cheering him on. They ignore Ryou and cheer on, even if he shouted for them not to say that or else, he’ll get angry. At the train, Ryou apologizes in behalf of his friends for saying such strange things. Himari says that it is alright and they aren’t saying strange things. She laughs and says that they really like Ryou. Ryou asks is that like when they always bully him but he wants to apologize for in the end, he got on the same train with her. Ryou smiles and says that since it is like this, he’ll bring her home today and encountering again like that kind of thing earlier, is quite perplexing. Himari looks at him and says, ya. She thinks that at this time, Ryou is also quite nice. Meanwhile, at some restaurant, Keita asks his mother why she would suddenly appear in school and there should definitely be a special reason for her to see abandoned son so don’t waste his time and quickly say it. She tells him that right now, she is living alone so she is always curious how they are living and then, she heard that his father re-married. She is thinking if he is getting along smoothly with his new family.
Keita impatiently asks what she wanted to say. She tearfully says that if he wants, would he want to live together with her. Keita scornfully smiles and says that after doing that kind of thing, she even had the face to say that. He tells her that is a kind of thing that she shouldn’t even be thinking of since she was the one who left the house and abandoned both him and his father. Right now, his father is very happy so please, don’t come and bother them and don’t appear in front of them again. Keita says that he is finished talking so he’s leaving. His mother can only watch him leave. In front of their house, Himari is thanking Ryou for bring her home and they’ll see each other at school tomorrow. Her mother comes out and asks if Himari is home since she heard someone talking outside. She sees Ryou who greets her back. With sparkling eyes, Keiko quickly asks if he is Ryou. She starts talking about how Himari always like him and thanks for liking Himari and she was really moved by today’s cultural festival. Ryou can only say ha..yes. Himari tries to explain things but Keiko apologizes for it being sudden because it hasn’t been a long time since such girly topic is being discussed so she couldn’t help smile over it. Then, she starts talking about the love letter and apron Himari made for him. Snapping out of it, Keiko apologizes for talking at the door and she invites him inside. Ryou declines since it is very late but Keiko insists and that she has a lot of things she wants to ask. Ryou relents and agrees to stay for a while. Inside Himari’s room, the two are feeling awkward. Himari apologizes to him for her mother forced him in and this would make the misunderstanding deeper. Ryou laughs and says that it is alright, he doesn’t mind. Keiko is tense over what to do even if it seems that Keita isn’t home yet but what if he sees this kind of situation. Seeing her uneasiness, Ryou sadly says ya, compared to him, she ought to feel more awkward than him. Then he starts to look around and says that this is the first time for him to be in her room and it turns out to be this kind of feeling. This surprises Himari that she waves her hands and tensely tells him not to look attentively. Ryou laughs and says that she finally back to the usual Himari. This surprises her, and then, she smiles. And, Keita arrives and thinks that today is truly the most awful day. And, he sees a pair of rubber shoes by the door. Holding a tray of drink, Keiko greets him home and informs him that Ryou just brought Himari home and she asked him to come in the house. Keita looks surprised.
Comment: Yes, Keita..the most awful day isn’t over yet. I wonder how he will react to that. Make him step up his act like say, taking up his mother’s offer? That is either to get Himari back or give up if he misunderstands things between her and Ryou. It also depends on his reason for his plans to move out. It seems that because of how excited Keiko is about the love girlie stuff, both Himari and Ryou were unable to forcefully refute it and burst her bubble. It seems that they don’t have the heart to do it. So, the misunderstanding does become deeper until someone clarifies things to her. Actually, Himari couldn’t do it either with Ryou’s friends. ^^; Well, it is probably to ‘save Ryou’s face’ with his friends or if she tells the truth, they might ask why, etc. Ryou’s friends also don’t believe Ryou’s protests not to tease and say things like that. In a way, I think it boils down to they believe what the two are doing rather than what they are saying because they are assuming that the two are just being shy about it. ^^;; Himari obviously wasn’t too aware of the possible consequences if she lets Ryou walk her home right in front of her doorstep. Hehe, it is for this cliffhanger, I guess. At least, I give her credit in decisively turning Ryou down earlier. Scans by allwink

  3. After this, I have started to think of Himari as weak, her mother as meddlesome and Ryou apparently can't read the atmosphere too well. Also, Keita will probably jump to conclusions. Well, the characters could be more likable if they didn't create so many misunderstandings xD
I want to see some actual development on Keita's side...

  6. I think Keita has been honest enough about his feelings. It's Himari who's been holding back.

Kat, I don't want to reread anymore, but , correct me if I';m wrong, wasn't it Keita who made a threat about their parents' relationship, and that made Himari not do anything that might bring unhappiness to her mother? Do you remember what exactly was the issue? I just feel that whatever that was, it's now gone, and it would be safe now to let her mother know that she and Keita like each other.

But then, there won't be any drama , right ^^ It just frustrates me a bit because keita has been showing and conveying his feelings, and Himari has been rejecting those feeling unnecessarily. I guess she needs a rival, the shoujo way. Maybe when she sees keita with another girl, that will wake her up. She will lose keita with her stubbornness. She should tell Keita why she's trying to avoid any relationship with him.... then both of them can resolve it.

    1. True, megaworthit.

Do you mean the time when Himari suddenly 'became cold' to Keita? At the cemetery, his father mentioned about it being 'family' and everything. Later on, she got conscious about the neighbor asking her mother about her and Keita's relationship. Her mother dismisses it as not true and impossible for something to happen between them. In a way, aside from hurting her mother, Himari probably fears the scandal.

Yup. Ah, Keita knows that it is because she chose 'family' than 'love' that is why he is very infuriated. And, I'm assuming that is why he wanted to live out the house so that they won't really be like 'siblings' = less scandal, etc. I think it would be resolved if their parents knew and accept it so that Himari would feel less guilty of 'destroying the family' because of it.

    2. Oh, yes, that;s one of the reasons. But I remember Keita is one of the reasons., too. Himari even tells him don't do anything untoward , like, she can take Kaita's " abuse" and nastiness to her for the sake of her mother... or something like that.

Ah, since Keita is the bold one, he should then take the initiative to tell the parents, like , ask permission to go into a relationship with Himari because they have fallen in love. Whatever the consequence, at least they did something.

Well, of course if they did something right and sensible, the story will end, lol

But it can turn frustrating for the readers, right ? Because the solution to the problem is right in front of them.

    3. Yup, megaworthit but I believe that is no longer an issue when she had realized that she is in love with him.

True..or at least, maybe an indirect question about it to somewhat know what their opinion on it is.

Indeed..if this is resolved then it is 'the end'. Yup..since it is dragging things.

  7. * cries* I know it will ease up your job load of summarizing mangas, but I tell you, on raffmanga, it's not consistent. Sometimes there is, sometimes there isn't. Readers are at the mercy of the translators. There is really no obligation there to translate. Not that I call it obligation, because , really you are not obliged, but I really feel you have the passion to bring to us summaries of mangas that you like, plus, your comments, which to me are even more important. As I told you before, I read your comments first, before I jump in, especially on mangas I'm afraid to read and the depressing ones. OMG.... you have been doing this for years ! The details are amazing. So, it would be very very sad not to see you summarizing the end of Kademono. I have a feeling it will not take long, because Keita is already doing something to resolve the issue.

Anyway, I hope you change your mind about Kademono. * looks at you with pleading eyes*

    1. Is that so, megaworthit. Actually, this series is very easy to do..the reason for wanting to drop it is aside from ease up the job load is I'm under the impression that people won't bother reading summaries if there are translations especially since raffmanga has them on the scans.

Anyway, I decided to continue though not quite detailed. Thanks for the comment ^-^ True, I also have that feeling for this series since this part is slightly dragging.
