Ryo’s father thanks Chizuru for her work. She tells him that
Ryu isn’t home yet. He tells her that it is like this everyday that he felt
that Ryu only comes home to sleep. Chizuru asks if Ryu has been eating well. He
tells her that when it is time to eat, he is properly eating for that guy is a
glutton. Chizuru laughs and says that is true. She asks him if he has been
eating well. Ryo’s father laughs and exclaims that he does, after properly
eating, he will strive hard to work. She recalls him telling her before that at
his age, he felt a bit lonely at times and she told him that he still has Ryu.
She thinks that at that time, he already knew that Ryu wants to continue his
studies and plans to leave home. Chizuru complains over Ryu being like this, unexpectedly
just leaving him all by himself. Ryu’s father laughs and says that it is
alright, and he thanks her. He says that he is most happy when everyone is
striving hard for their own future. He asks if she is okay with her studies
because she is working hard everyday. She tells him that she is okay because
anyway, she isn’t going to college. She asks him if he is okay. He says that he
is okay. Chizuru tells him that besides, there is still her. He says that’s
right, just seeing Chizuru so energetic, it cheers him up. She asks if that’s
true. He says that it is. Then, he shows her a picture of a baby on his phone
and says that his grandson is born. Chizuru exclaims in shock for she didn’t
know about it. She congratulates him. He thanks her and says that he thought
that Ryu already told her about it. Chizuru sadly says that there is no time
for her and Ryu to talk because that guy is always sleeping in school that the
only thing he does is eat, sleep and sports. This made his father worry for
he’s always sleeping and not studying. Thinking that she knows that Ryu is
always striving hard, she calls out to Ryu’s father. Later on, Ryu returns home
and sees three onigiri [rice balls] by the kitchen. He eats one and recognizes
the filling. His father tells him that Chizuru made it, and she said that it is
for him. Ryu says ya, it is his favorite flavor.
While looking at the rose gift that Ryu gave her in her
bedroom, Chizuru thinks that she knows Ryu is always working hard in his world
that he isn’t deliberately abandoning his father and it is because he wanted to
do something that he is leaving his family. Then, she gets a message from
Sawako. After apologizing that it is late and if she’s sleeping, or if she woke
Chizuru up, Sawako says that Chizuru’s birthday is coming soon, and can she
tell her what she wants as a gift. Chizuru quickly calls up Sawako who is happy
that she called. To Sawako’s surprise, Chizuru wants to come over to her place
right now. After greetings and apologizes, Sawako invites Chizuru to her room
and asks her to even stay overnight since it is already quite late. Chizuru is
hesitant for she didn’t bring anything with her but Sawako assures her that
they got everything she’ll need and she even prepared her a futon bed. Chizuru
is amazed that Sawako also prepared pajamas. Chizuru thanks her and says that
she’ll have to go home early in the morning. The pajamas are a bit small for
Chizuru that Sawako tries to find a night gown but Chizuru says that it is
already okay. Sawako starts to notices that something is wrong with Chizuru.
Looking at her table, Chizuru comments that she’s studying. She apologizes for
disturbing her. Sawako says that it is alright, for she’s the one who emailed
her first. Chizuru apologizes and says that she always felt a bit lonely and it
is good that she emailed her. Sawako says that she is very happy that Chizuru
can come. Sawako starts to massage Chizuru’s shoulders. This made Chizuru
teary-eyed. Then, Chizuru goes behind Sawako and starts to give her a massage.
Sawako says that it hurts so Chizuru apologizes for putting all of her strength
into it. While lying in bed, Sawako asks Chizuru what the matter is, and does
she want to tell her about it. Chizuru laughs and says that it is nothing, just
seeing her has cure her. Sawako is convinced that something’s up and does this
have something to do with Ryu. Chizuru asks her if she is going to stay here.
Sawako is startled for she recalls being told by Pin about D Normal University
and Ume wanting to go there. She hesitantly says yes. Chizuru laughs and says that
it is like her.
Then, Chizuru asks if she thought of parting with Shouta,
for example Shouta has something he wants to do and he is going to leave her,
or perhaps, Sawako has something that she wants to do that she has to leave.
“..Regarding this kind of thing, have you thought about it?” After a pause, Sawako
says no..she doesn’t want to part with him. Chizuru says ya, she and Shouta, ah
yes.. Chizuru confides that she doesn’t have some sort of dream or wanting to
do something type so.. Sawako thinks that in the end, she doesn’t know why
Chizuru felt lonely, and whether or not, Chizuru she has something to say or not.
Soon, it is morning and Chizuru has to leave so that she can prepare to school.
Sawako calls out to Chizuru to come over anytime and if there is something she
wanted to tell her, just call her anytime. Chizuru smiles back and says yes.
Chizuru’s question if she thought of parting with Shouta is always on Sawako’s
mind. While Chizuru is walking home, she recalls that she has to congratulate
Tooru. She laughs about forgetting about it since she kept on thinking about
Ryu. Then, she sees Ryu jogging at the other side of the street. Surprised
Chizuru wonders when it started, that she’s the only one paying attention.
She’s the only one who would chase after his figure with her gaze. And, it is
Chizuru’s birthday. Ayane gives her a hand cream and Sawako gives her bath oil.
Ayane asks her what Ryu gave her. Chizuru says nothing. Sawako says that he’ll
give it to her today, right, and deliver it to her home. Chizuru says who
knows, because right now, his brain is only filled with baseball. Sawako is
shock when Ayane blunts says that Chizuru is very lonely. The two are shock
when Chizuru admitted that she is, but she says that it is okay because he is
Ryu. She grins and says that she can only say, ‘gambatte’ [/good luck] and she
can only say, ‘ya, then go ahead’ regarding him wanting to go to college.
During lunch time, Shouta wakes Ryu up who notices a packed food on his table,
and it is some onigiri. Chizuru has already decided on what she is going to
tell Ryu since what she can do is only support him and that’s all. Soon, it is
night. Sitting by the doorsteps, Chizuru looks up the sky and mentally rehearse
the words, ‘Gambatte’. She thinks that even if she doesn’t say it, he would
still strive hard all by himself as if his life depended on it. And actually,
he is already striving quite hard. She mentally wishes Ryu gambatte as the moon
shines out from the clouds.
As the wind blows, Ryu stands in front of her. This
surprises Chizuru. After recovering from being startled, she nervous greets
him. He asks her what she is doing. Flustered and nervous, she says that is
what she wanted to say and how come he came over during his jogging time and
how come he’s not saying anything. Ryu asks her if she is alright. Chizuru realizes
that he came to comfort her. Tearing up, Chizuru says that is what she wanted
to say. Pause. Ryu greets her a happy birthday. He apologizes that he doesn’t
have a gift to give her. Chizuru says that he unexpectedly came empty-handed. He
apologized again for he wasn’t able to buy something in time. Chizuru repeats
twice that it doesn’t matter. While looking away, she says that he came over
just to say that. To her surprise, Ryu says yes. He thanks her for the onigiri
and for always helping his family. He says that even if he always wasn’t able
to say it to her but he knows that she is worried about him. “Even if this kind
of thing cannot be considered as a gift, but I will deliver the results. I’ll
definitely win. Ever since you were small, you always cheer me on ..thank you.”
Chizuru recalls how she cheered Ryu on. She had already decided to say these
words, ‘gambatte’ and ‘then, go’. Chizuru opens her mouth and says, “Don’t go.
..do not, go to college. *Ryu looks surprised* ... what-‘gambatte’.. *cries*
What-support. ..I couldn’t do it.. *starts hitting still surprised Ryu* ..do
not go. Do not go. Do not go. DO NOT GO!! Do not go..!! *recalls Ryu saying
that because Chizuru is here, always together* (No. No. No. I’m the one who isn’t
willing to part with him. I’m the one who always want to stay at his side.) *Ryu
reaching out to her with his hand* I’m kidding.. *pat Ryu away and looks at him*
..go!” Ryu grabs her left wrist and asks, “[Do you] like? Do you like me?”
Still crying, Chizuru exclaims, “..I like you, idiot!!” Ryu rushes to her which
cause his cap to drop. He kisses her. Narration: “My love[/like] will hold Ryu
back.”
Comment: And,
finally, what Ryu x Chizuru fans have been waiting for. ^^ It is a classic case
of the chaser finally stop chasing, and the one being chased looks back and
realizes the chaser is no longer there..and usually like in this case, realizes
that she loves him when he is gone from her side. ^^ The chapter is nicely done
especially the last part of the conversation..or rather the confession which is
sealed with a kiss ^^ Now, being teenagers and being in love, it is natural to
not want to part with one’s lovers though I wonder if it is okay in the long
run. They will be giving up their dreams/further studies just to staying with
the ones they love. Based on Ryu and Sawako’s personality, they would most
likely give in and stay since they seem easy to satisfy. There would possibly
be no quarrels with ‘if only I..’ when things start to go wrong. ^^; So, I’m
saying, I’m not sure if this would be a conflict or not though there would be a
bit of guilt like being selfish on doing what one wants and make the other
agree to it, rather than doing what is right for the other person’s
dream/future. Temporary separation can be like eternity though at times. For
the one who is busy with their dreams, it can be quite short but for the one
who is waiting, it can be quite long. Scans by 夜莺工作室
Word of the day:
A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold in a
setting of silver. ~ Proverbs 25:11
Ryu has been working so hard for this and loves baseball so much that I don't think he would not go just because he loves Chizu and she asked him not to go. I think, since she loves him back, he would either commit her to a long-term relationship (easier to do if she works for his family) or he would convince her to come with him, even if she just got a job in the city where he's going to college. I'm not sure if I see this series having them live together, though. Maybe if it was "dating with marriage in mind" then their parents ... might? be okay with it? Maybe? But Ryu has worked so hard. I don't think he's going to give it all up now just because he finally got her to admit she likes him. I'm glad she finally admitted it and he kissed her, though. Yay!
ReplyDeleteI agree with you, I mean, she can even just go to that college for management that she has to go on weekends only like Pin said and during the week, stay behind. Them having a long distance relationship or even living together wouldn't ever come to a shock to their parents like, they'ee been waiting for it for years now. I mean, Chizu's mother might not even take it as romantically, that's how close they are like "you're moving in with ryu as your roomate? makes total sense" haha. Srsly though, I'd think their conflict to be more believable from now on if it went on the lines of they can't see each other much or chizu thinking they can't be together because she doesn't wanna be on the way of his dreams, as far as long distance for them it shouldn't be an issue. Nor do I think Ryu would quit the idea of playing in college - not because he wouldn't do it for her but because he's not the type to settle for just one thing. He got Chizu and he WILL get baseball too, he's very goal-oriented.
DeleteYup, and when Chizuru has probably calmed down, she probably won't really, kind of, make Ryu choose between her and baseball. From this chapter, it seems that she doesn't want Ryu's father to be all alone either. Anyway, we'll see how this goes.
DeleteYup ^-^
THAAANNNKK YOUUUU!!!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for summarizing this chapter!!
ReplyDeleteThanks for reading, Sora ^-^
DeleteThank you always for your summaries. I really wish ryuxchizuru have more chapters. Their love story is the only reason i still like this series. Haha. I think that ryu will still go but it's either (1)chizu goes with him or (2)chizu will wait for him.. ryu staying is not an option for me. Hahaha

FINALLY!!!! ABOUT TIME! (Tears of joy) This chapter made my day!! btw, thanks for the summary! <3 Tika
ReplyDeleteYup and thanks for reading, Tika ^-^
DeleteThank you !
ReplyDeleteI feel so happy for Ryu and Chizuru, I'm even crying >< I love the part with Sawako, it was cute :)
Hopefully, Ryu doesn't give up his goals and Chizuru decides to go with him. She is such a good and caring person, and wanting Ryu to stay is kind of opposite to her personality.
Concerning their parents, I believe they will be pleased to know what happened ^^
You're welcome ^-^

Yup ^^
I'm so happy this finally happened! As for the whole "my love will hold him back", I highly doubt that. I feel like, while this is something that would be an issue for Sawako, having Ryu and Chizu to play out the same plot would be a bit of a stretch. I mean, I'm not saying it won't happen, maybe Shiina will even add this conflict where Chizu will tell him they caan't be together cause he has to focus on his dreams but it's so senseless, like, of all the couples they're the one for which distance wouldn't be a issue. I mean, of course there's the main difference which is, while Chizu can love Tohru even though he lives far away, she can't allow Ryu to do the same - however, she'll be the one to follow him. I think it's part of her sense of duty to the running from now on. If she goes to one of those twice a week colleges, she can be with him every week and still be in the restaurant and keep Ryu's dad company (even though he now said that he'd be happy wherever they were if they were happy). By the last line you can guess that Chizu will make an issue out of this, but, by human logic (and not mangá logic), her problem was with him leaving her behind and not liking her, once she knows that he wants her with him, she should be ok whether they see each other every day or only on weekends. But maybe there's still space for "you have to train a lot so we can't, like, be dating or something so let's not be lovey dovey" - though I can't see Ryu taking much of this bullshit (IT'S BEEN SEVENTEEN YEARS) nor Chizu being able to go through with it (She could hardly tell lhim good luck haha). So, tbh, whatever drama they throw on them now will feel a little "too much" for me. BUT UUUGH I'M SO HAPPY. Especially because Ryu's dad (Genji) loves her so much and her family loves Ryu as well and ugh, when the class finds out as well it's gonna be glorious. Particularly excited about ChIzu having to tell Ayane about it. My one biggest worry is that they're kissing on Chizu's porch right now and Shiina kinda likes to make things embarassing sometimes so if someone shows up, I'll die.
ReplyDeleteIndeed, thatu..it seems unlikely for them to have the same outcome..though for now, it is the same predicament.
DeleteTrue..so basically and hopefully, they'll sort this out without unnecessary drama and stuff. Also with technology and everything, it would be less harder.
Yes, it would be a positive reaction for their family and friends..as if they just got married =P
Hehe..is that so.
Loved it! I like how well Ryu knows her and how he didn't hold back once she admitted the truth. Of course now reality will settle in and I hope he doesn't give up what he really wants to do.
ReplyDeleteYup, Brose ^^
DeleteOmg thank you for not dropping kimi no todoke!!! what I was waiting for chizu&ryu <3 I'm sure chizu is going to understand and let ryu go to college they r probably going to stay in a steady long distance relationship
ReplyDeleteHehe, well, didn't really plan on dropping the series..just that last chapter got on my nerves ^^;
DeleteYup, I'm sure they'll work things out ^^
Hi Kat! Thanks for this. I actually tried translating the japanese raws but I could only properly translate the "Do you like me?" "I like you. Idiot!" parts hahaha. Thank you thank you! -Diana
ReplyDeleteYou're welcome, Diana ^-^
DeleteHehe, those are frequent words in Japanese shoujo manga ^^
Finally , Really love it <3! Thank you so much for summarizing this chapter!! I believe being in a long distance relationship won't be a problem for ChizuxRyu. Or maybe chizu surprise us and she'll go to college/university . I really hope we get more RyuChizu next chapter because they're killing me!! When does next chapter come out? Lily
ReplyDeleteThanks for reading, Lily ^-^
