While carrying Mego, Chiharu says that he will tell her Aoi’s true face and everything about his past. Mego wonders what he meant, and could it be that something had already happened to Aoi. Chiharu repeats that Mego really didn’t hear Aoi mention it and she is totally not trusted by Aoi. It is a bull’s eye for Mego. Chiharu says that obviously she doesn’t know a thing about Aoi so how could she say something like ‘like’[/love] and that’s truly a joke. This made Mego flustered. She thinks that Chiharu knows the Aoi whom she doesn’t know. She really wants to hear it and perhaps, she would know find out the reason why Aoi couldn’t touch a girl. Chiharu starts to tell Mego that Aoi’s right eye.. Mego swallows and covers Chiharu’s mouth while he is saying, ‘before b☆a’. While Chiharu struggles in telling her to let her hands off his mouth, Mego exclaims that she doesn’t want to hear it. She starts singing out loud. Then, she tells him that no, if Aoi doesn’t want talk about that, then she won’t hear it from him [Chiharu]. Recalling Chiharu telling her that she is totally not trusted by Aoi, Mego says that maybe he is right but she will wait and strive hard to become a truly trustable girlfriend of Aoi, then, she’ll wait for Aoi to tell it to her himself. Thinking that she truly still doesn’t know a lot about him, Mego tells Chiharu that the Aoi she knows is someone who would help a girl whom he met for the first time without consideration for his own safety. “He really thinks about his younger sister. Kitties and puppies-type of cute animals willing go near him. He is a very nice person. Even if he is very shy and not quite good in social interaction, but he would sincerely convey his feelings to me. (There are times when he would show a lonely look that makes one think that it is unreal, and [makes one] think of wanting to protect him).”
She smiles and continues, “Only knowing these, for me, it is already enough to ‘fall in love’ with [/to like] him. (Only these reasons are enough. Aside from these, what else do I need?)” Mego notices Chiharu looking surprised. He says to let.. He throws her away and shouts that he told her to quickly let go of her hand because he couldn’t breathe that he wants to kill her. Biting his teeth and clenching his fist, Chiharu says that right now, she can say that enthusiastically but one day, she will also become like him JUST LIKE THAT TIME.. This surprises Mego. At the café, Aoi’s co-workers call out to him while he is sweeping the floor. A couple of guys say that today, they have a lot of customers who kept on asking them about Aoi’s contact information and helping him reject it is a waste of effort. They tell him that it is hindering the store’s business and he should think of a way to deal with it. Aoi apologizes for the trouble. The two guys are jealous and infuriated over how popular Aoi is. They start accusing him for being some playboy that makes people jealous and up to now, he must have gone out with a lot of girls. Blushing Aoi says no, right now, he is going steady with someone who is his first love. They are shocked that Aoi is unexpectedly very decent when they wanted to tease him to the point of being embarrassed. The co-worker says that his girlfriend is definitely like a model type beautiful girl, right? Aoi shows them of the photo sticker he took with Mego. They think that she looks ordinary and why does the picture turn out that way. The two guys nervously say that it is truly a girlfriend with personality so what does he like about her. After repeating their question, Aoi blushes really red. The guys wonder what’s up with that cute reaction.
Aoi says that with her, he felt quite at ease. “Her external appearance coincides with her inner thoughts [/does what she thinks]. Even if I did some small things for her, she will burst into a happy smile. Perhaps, for other people, they would think that she is very ordinary but for me, she is a very beautiful and very cute person. ..I *blush* had been saying things randomly. I’m sorry about that..” The two guys are moved and think that this guy is a super good youth. While thinking that he’s so cute and pure[/innocent], they offer to help him sweep the floor. Blushing Aoi thanks them. While walking by the bridge, Mego summons her courage to ask Chiharu to give back her hairclip. While blushing, she explains that Aoi used his first working salary to buy it for her so it is a very special gift so.. This irks Chiharu. He says okay, he’ll give it back to her. He throws it to the river and tells her to quickly get it. Mego is horrified. It turns out that Chiharu tricked her for he is still holding the hair clip. He is amused over her ugly face. Just when he is telling her that she’s stupid for it is actually still.., Mego had already jumped down the bridge to the river. Now, it is Chiharu’s turn to have a shock over what Mego did. Looking for the hair clip in the river, she doesn’t want to lose it. She recalls when Aoi said that it really suited her. Then, Mego remembers that she couldn’t swim. ^^; While Chiharu wonders if she is kidding, Mego starts to sink and drown. Chiharu has no choice but to jump down and save her. After bringing her back to the surface, furious Chiharu shouts over Mego being a stupid girl for how can a person jump into the water without knowing how to swim. Mego is still groggy and imagines Chiharu to be Aoi. She hugs him tight that Chiharu couldn’t breathe. He shouts what she’s doing, stinky girl. To Chiharu’s surprise Mego tearfully apologizes to him, thinking that he’s Aoi, for she lost the gift he gave her. She thinks that Aoi is a very, very nice person so he definitely would smile and forgive her but it is because he is such a nice person that she would want to treasure it more.
While she kept on crying, she exclaims, “I’ll definitely find it, wait for me..!!” Mego passes out from exhaustion. While walking towards the river bank with Mego, Chiharu mutters that he is really defeated by this girl that just for this hair clip, she would unexpectedly do that as if her life depended on it. “Haha. Then, I should really throw away *holds up the hair clip* this thing. *holds clip to the river* throw--.. *suddenly holds the hair clip tight and looks flustered* definitely, if I throw it away, no matter how many times, this stupid girl would jump down again. *holds her hair up and puts the hair clip on her hair.* I won’t [throw] this kind of [rare?] thing. I give it back to you, okay, stupid girl..” Riding a taxi, Mego is still sleeping with Chiharu’s his coat on her. Chiharu notices Mego muttering Aoi’s name. Then, she says, no..that isn’t totoro-jiru [yam soup], that’s natto. [<- during their first date] Chiharu lets out a laugh for Aoi ate natto and totoro-jiru. He wonders what kind of dream this stupid girl is having. Chiharu snaps out of it and angrily asks what he is laughing about for this girl is just a bait to provoke Aoi to act seriously. Taking out his cellphone, he tells himself not to be confused by her and do not put in his feelings because of that. Soon, Aoi bids his co-workers good job and he’s leaving. They happily greet him back and tell him to greet his girlfriend for them. [<- being polite] Aoi notices that someone sent him a message but then, he hasn’t seen the [email] address before. “Who could it be..?” He is shocked to see that it is passed out Mego sleeping on the bed. Aoi drops the cellphone and nervously mutters Mego’s name. Chiharu has taken a picture of Mego on the bed, and then he touches her hair. Narration: “That day, I poured out my feelings and there’s no pretense in it. *scene of Mego telling Aoi that she likes him the most* Aoi-kun, no matter what happens, you must believe in me.”
Comment: It is really nice how these two profess their love for each other to other people even while they are apart. Of course, what’s coming up next is would their actions go beyond the words. From what Mego said, it seems unlikely that upon knowing Aoi’s past, she would suddenly hate Aoi like Chiharu does. The highly possible reaction which would hurt/traumatize Aoi again is if Mego fears him..like after she wakes up and sees him after he’s gone through Chiharu. =P The other highly possibly outcome is like how Aoi reacted before when she, as Mitsuru, got involved with Aoi’s enemies at the arcade. That is, he would have to leave her in order to protect her since his enemies would likely see her as Aoi’s weakness and an easy target. Maybe that way, Mego would somewhat lose her naïveté on hopes of protecting Aoi in ways that she thought of – physically which she has a long way to go, and well, about dealing with the problem by herself since things are becoming worse than she would probably had imagined. It seems that they would have to deal with trust issues. If Aoi seems to not to trust her enough about her past, she doesn’t seem to trust him enough to tell him about her problem with Chiharu. Of course, there is also fear over totally losing the hair clip because of Chiharu’s threat. As expected, Mego doesn’t want to hear the truth from Chiharu but rather from Aoi himself. It is nice how she doesn’t cower when Chiharu tried to destroy how she views Aoi because of the trust issue. She is with him enough to pretty much know and love the Aoi she does know, and perhaps, felt how sincere and innocent he is while with her. From their interactions, Chiharu seem to be fond of Aoi before but he has this mindset of ‘defeating him in a duel’. What could be the reason for it that it is overpowering whatever presumably happier memories there are, between them? Is it just some satisfaction of ‘teaching Aoi a lesson’ or ‘want to prove he’s better than Aoi’ type of thing or totally something else? I wonder if plan A regarding threatening Mego with the hair clip is for him to date her publicly, then maybe it is to make other people tell Aoi he is making a move on his girl and make Aoi beat him up..rather fight him? But then, if it is that, he had already accomplished it so why go to plan B – bring unconscious Mego to his room and send that picture to Aoi? Trying to disillusion Mego regarding Aoi isn’t exactly intentionally either for it is only brought up when Mego is asking what his problem with nice Aoi. Well, since we are already at this point, I imagine some scenarios like Chiharu is undressing Mego since her dress is wet and Aoi sees them in an awkward position...bloody mess afterwards, or Chiharu falling for Mego, does some lovey-dovey thing and Aoi sees them..still a bloody mess afterwards. If he does fall for Mego, Chiharu might go to a similar Azusa path – used to be bully the sibling [Aoi/Shino] then falls for the Kobayashi twin. So, I’m kind of hoping a different scenario with Chiharu. Or, if the theory that Chiharu and Azusa are related is true, Azusa comes in and Chiharu doing something to Mego..Azusa beats him up for it since Mego is her future sister-in-law. Hehe, I’m assuming that Chiharu is weak against Azusa ^^; Still based on that theory, Azusa comes in the room with Mitsuru and sees the two in an awkward position, Chiharu would be beaten up by Mitsuru. Hehe, I’m in a comedic bloodbath mood after reading a couple of shoujo wherein the lead guy goes threatening some other guy for messing with his girlfriend. Well, comedic since this is a comedy-romance series, right? So, something serious like what happened to a certain cat guy in Kyou, Koi wo Hajimemasu is unlikely. Well, Aoi has already threatened Chiharu, and Chiharu still did that. He also unintentionally caused Mego to almost drown. What would become of him after Aoi and, presumably the rest goes through him? Unless, Aoi goes all wimp about not hurting anyone and that kind of stuff. Well, if Chiharu is also not serious when he is fighting with Aoi earlier, then that’s good for him but he is already serious and Aoi isn’t, he must be suicidal. ^^; Maybe the upcoming fight, if there is one, would reveal what’s under the eyepatch =P Scans by 夜莺工作室 PS. The Chinese scanlations doesn’t come out immediately after the Japanese raws so I’ll really appreciate it if no one spoils me what would happen in the next chapter. Thank you.
