Corn says no, sorry that isn’t necessary. He mutters that it
seems that the things she mentioned are things needed for a curse. He tells her
that seriously thinking of it, his curse is inborn and not man-made so
traditional methods might not be effective. Kyouko exclaims that curses don’t
have ‘relatives and old friends’ and a so-called curse is to specifically to
bring about disaster to the other person and betting on one’s life to pray for
it to happen. If there’s A and no B, it absolutely wouldn’t hold water!! [I
think] Corn is imagining Kyouko A cursing Shou B. He mutters that is quite
persuasive. Kyouko says that if it is an inborn curse that means there is
someone who cursed him before he was born. No..no, it isn’t for sure that it is
specifically to curse Corn, what if a thousand years ago, there is someone who
hated the royal family that s/he chose to curse a future generation king so
that the royal family would have no inkling and lived a happy life then
unexpectedly, fall into disaster and spiral of tragedy. Thus, Corn unluckily
became that accursed ‘king’s successor’. Kyouko asks him if he heard of that
kind of story. Corn says totally no. While Kyouko sighs over this, he tells
her, but before, there was an involvement in a war in the human world between ‘angels’
and ‘devils’ and it seems that his ancestor totally stands at the angels’ side
as an ally. Perhaps the devils totally directed their hatred towards the king.
Kyouko listens attentively then snaps herself out of it. Shaking her head, she
calls herself stupid for being too excited over it even if she is truly
interested in this different world history. While telling herself that this isn’t
the time to be fond of that era, Kyouko says if that is the case, the one suspected
to be A [person who cursed him] is some devil then it is a bit..no, a completely
thorny problem. She didn’t imagine that the enemy is a very powerful character
for she thought it is just some commoner fairy, who has to pay high taxes. Corn
says that in the end, no matter what it is, a demon’s curse is very strong.
While thinking, Kyouko mutters ya. While telling her to drop this topic for
now, Corn thinks that as expected, Kyouko has regained her liveliness [/energy]
even if Kuon (I) wanted to deny[/reject] the ‘happiness’ that he felt while he’s
with this girl but he does not want this girl to be hurt. [<- seeing her cry
a while ago, I presume]
Kyouko suddenly holds Corn’s shoulders and asks if he wants
to give up, and he actually doesn’t want to continue on like this, right? Corn
looks at her and says whether it is good or bad, he.. *recalls Tina crying and
shouting at him while cradling Rick on her arms* he has no choice. Kyouko
kneels down and wonders if Corn is afraid and it is because she doesn’t know
that she is able to say such strong words for the enemy might be an old
immortal devil who placed the curse, and it is also inevitable to carelessly
become gutless. Then, she recalls Ren eating the yucky omurice before. Kyouko
says, Maui omurice. While Corn is puzzled, Kyouko pulls him up and tells him
that they eat together that food that can make one feel victorious. She eagerly
says that she’ll make one for him and it is possible that she can do something
like it. While pulling him along, Kyouko grabs her bag and says that when
humans got into a predicament in order to fight victoriously, they would hold a
kind of ‘ax to grind’ ceremony even if each person have their own way of doing
it. “But after all, it is Tsuruga-senpai who did it. *Corn is startled* Ah,
this is my own point of view. Before, Tsuruga-senpai is harboring perhaps of some
thoughts on boosting himself [/his morale] up and he ate this food. After
Tsuruga-senpai ate that food, he defeated the enemy without a hitch. So, Corn,
you also go try it. It’s alright. Having this reliable ‘victorious precedent’,
Corn will also definitely be successful in..” Kyouko is surprised when Corn
suddenly pulls his hand from hers. She turns to look at him. Looking serious,
Corn says that she said that in order to lift the curse, she said that she is
willing to do anything no matter what it is. After looking puzzled, Kyouko
excitedly exclaims yes for Corn has changed his mind. Corn says then, he has
something to ask of her. Kyouko exclaims what it is, what does he want her to
do. Corn says, “You ought to know it right, Kyouko-chan? *Kyouko asks what* Since
ancient time until now, it has not changed. In order to save the cursed prince
or perhaps, princess, the most traditional way is..” Kyouko looks on as Corn
lifts up his hand and touches his lips with his finger. Next chapter will be
out in Japan on February 20th.
Comment: Well, we
got an elaborate lie alright but it isn’t exactly about Ren’s past. It seems
that he isn’t ready to talk about it or deal with it yet. For a while there, I
really wonder what am I summarizing..a fairy tale and does it have anything to
do with the story. ^^;; Actually, in a way, it does because the ‘remedy to lift
the curse’ is based on Sleeping Beauty which is the story that Kyouko is mentioning
as the source of the curse. For now, Kyouko’s words that he isn’t a curse to
everyone has fallen into his deaf ears that even if she pointed it out that she
didn’t fall into misfortune because of him but on contrary, he helped her a
lot. This made her realize that his problem is much deeper than she thought and
it is like what Reino told her. But then, that ‘feeling’ on Corn the stone that
Reino felt was before what happened to Rick so there must be something more
than that..probably the pressure to succeed because of his famous father? [Edit: Re-reading chapter 169, it seems that is so since even Rick tried to help Kuon regarding a 'chicken/coward' problem within himself.] Hehe,
Ren carelessly made her cry. His chibi reactions on that are quite amusing.
And, to cheer her up again, Ren deceives her again. In a way, she seems more
than happy to be deceived with all that fairy tale-fantasy stuff. =P And, even
if she’s stupid and so into fairy tales to believe all that, in a way, she
really suits to be with Ren who is the only one who can make those elaborate
stories for her ^-^ Now that I recall it, Kyouko is quite knowledgeable with
curses since she made those voodoo dolls before and threatened to curse Shou.
Now, she isn’t going to make them but lift one for Corn. I guess Ren didn’t
anticipate that Kyouko isn’t going to easily give up on this curse thing. From
that last part, was he jealous with his created persona, Ren? He had that
reaction when Kyouko told him not to destroy Ren’s image. This time, it was a
mention of how Ren overcame his problem with a Maui omurice. Then, he is now
saying on how to supposedly remove the curse which is a kiss. So, is the
mangaka teasing us again deceiving us like Kyouko into thinking that there
might actually be a kiss in the next chapter? And, even if there is no kiss,
Kyouko might give a reason like she likes someone else – Ren. I wonder how Corn
would react to that. ‘Kill off Ren’? ^^; It would be quite complicated feeling
whether she kisses him or not. I mean, if she kisses him that would be like
betraying Ren’s warning on ‘keeping her purity’ and it would be like being able
to kiss without love. Wait, in fairy tales, there should be love with the kiss
to break the curse, right? The scenario that I do not want to happen is someone
interrupting and saying that it is time to go to the beauty parlor. ^^;; Well, Kyouko
will surely be able to help him out with his ‘curse’ but the question would be ‘how’
especially since no one seems to be able to do it and he isn’t willing to deal
with it. And based on the pacing of the series, as usual, it might take a long
time before we get to know what it is..or maybe not? The mangaka tends to tease
us with ‘beating around the bush then dropping the bomb’ then, possibly, ‘that
bomb turned into a dud’ =P Scans by 红莲汉化组

Thank-you for always providing us with translations.. <;D
ReplyDeleteAll your work is much appreciated! ^^
Thanks for reading and the comment ^-^
DeleteCool! I think that Kyoko won't kiss him. But i can kinda imagine what her face will be in the next chapter.
ReplyDeleteYa..you do..like what? Shock, blush, etc.
DeleteOh my ! Thank you so much for the translation Kat !
ReplyDeleteI really waited for this and i never thought you'll post it today !
( Thanks to my stalking abilities in your Blog, I knew it immediately. haha )
Thanks again ! ~
Thanks for reading ^-^
DeleteWell, thankfully, it came out in the afternoon and not night so I can completely finish it ^^
Thank you...thank you...,Kat. And then again...arrghhh I can't wait for next chapter
ReplyDeleteYou're welcome ^-^
DeleteYa..
Oh Oh~ Ren? do you want kiss from kyoko ? hehehe >.<
ReplyDeletei think, it's will fun if kyoko really kiss kyoko. but after that kyoko say, that she like Ren? it's imposible?
i want mangakan to the point. >.<
Don't tease me again!!! i wait 1 month for this chapter and this is make me want want more next chapter!! ^^
Hehe, ya.
DeleteTrue...another wait to know if this is a tease or not.
Thank you, kat. Sure she want to tease us >_< I don't think kyoko will kiss him. She probable will say about true love or the kind... Curses and voodoo dolls hehe... She is the expert.
ReplyDeleteYou're welcome ^-^
DeleteYup..^^
thx for the summary!!! great job as usual :)
ReplyDeleteit's hard to believe that kyoko would kiss him 'cause she would only kiss the man she loves (I can kind of imagine her saying something like that, or at least thinking something like that). there are few possibilities for next chapter:
1. she becomes so embarrassed that corn has no choice but to turn everything into a joke
2. she explains that no matter how much she likes corn this is the only thing she can't do because of the promise to the man she loves. this may let corn figure out that the man she loves is actually him
3. she somehow realizes that corn is indeed ren (unlikely though... but if she actually do realizes then I can just imagine how betrayed she would feel)
4. (that would be the funniest) she doesn't realize that what he means is a kiss :D instead she comes up with something totally different (like I don't know... defeating a dragon :D)
Thanks for reading and the comment ^-^
DeleteYup..and if she makes excuses, would it be possible that Corn would say that those other two [Ren and Shou] kissed her so why not him when it is to free him from his curse. I'm thinking that might be the reason why the mangaka brought up those kisses = 'mind reading' before.
It would be an interesting interaction between the two regarding this and maybe, it will mention of her love life =P
First, Thx Kat for the translations, I looked everywhere for you blog after I read the scans. Second, I totally think that she's gonna pretend not to know what he means and go the fairy tales way. But, what i wish is that at the end of their meeting, Corn finds out that Kyoko likes Tsuruga. It would be interesting since Tsuruga hates Corn, now Corn will have a reason to hate Tsuruga!!!
DeleteThanks for reading, Evie ^-^
DeleteLol..hm..possible. I'm just a bit nervous over the unnecessary dragging of the story if that happens when we are currently at this point of the story = Ren's past + possible knowing of the couple's feelings for each other.
I can't wait for next month!!! Thank you Kat for the translation!
ReplyDeleteYup, and thanks for reading, kuleetuleetuleet ^-^
Deletei hope kyoko kiss him though after all corn is special to her .
ReplyDeleteYa, naga and if so, it will be a milestone for this series ^^
DeleteThanks for the translation.
ReplyDeleteI wonder if he did that on purpose. Kyoko won't willingly kiss a guy because of her personality and the fact that she made a promise to Ren that she'd keep her pureity. So he knows she'd obey that promise. However, she is always catching us by surprise. Either she will totally shock him and kiss him, if I recall Ren said she can't kiss the same person again in her personal life. Or she won't and tell him she can't. Who knows she might kiss him other than the lips. Or her cell might ring from Ten san she did say she'll call Kyoko.
Thanks for reading, Brittany ^-^
DeleteIt doesn't seem to be on purpose though..
Yup, very unpredictable..possible that she won't though maybe she would.. Surely, there would be hesitation and Kyouko would probably rack her brains on what to do =P Hehe, what if Corn put on the 'doggie plea' expression. Ya..and I don't want that interruption scenario.
A kiss isn't a kiss! So perhaps he could salvage a kiss on his forehead? Perhaps she would conclude that THE KISS she has to save is the kiss on the lips of the man she loves.
DeleteAnd for Ren it could be a nudge to make his peace with Kuon. Giving him the chance to be on so easy terms with the girl/woman he loves.
And thanks a lot Kat for the quick extensive summary! It's great to have it immediately after the Chinese scanlations!
Possible..
DeleteThanks for reading ^-^
You Guys are talking like Ren, trying not to expect anything so you won't feel disappointed anymore. But I know that there won't be a kiss either.... But I'm totally hoping for a confession! Come on Kyoko reject foolishly and tell him you love someone else(Ren) but there's also a chance were she won't admit to loving anyone....
ReplyDeleteHehe, ya..
DeleteTHERE BETTER BE A KISS! I READ THIS MANGA FOR A VERY LONG TIME! MANGAKA SHOULD REWARD HER FANS WITH MORE ACTIONS LIKE " A KISS" !!!!!!!!!!!! lol, but I doubt that she will kiss him because of her personality and the mangaka's evil personality whom like to be a teaser. I will fall off my chair if she kiss him in the next chapter. She will probably kiss him if Corn tells her that she will not see him again, so it make her want to give him a happiness before he disappear? anyway, thanks for the summary! <3 Tika
ReplyDeleteHAHAHA! I totally AGREE with you. I've been reading this manga since High School. And I'm dying for them to get together as a couple.
DeleteHehe, true. ^^
DeleteIf she makes excuses and if Corn really wants it, he can make her do it by saying something more..or puppy expressions =P
Thanks for reading, Tika ^-^
siempre esperando! pero muchas gracias! =) te doy buenos deseos! arigatou!
ReplyDeleteYou're welcome and thanks for the comment, diana ^-^
DeleteWhoa - You are so fast! Thank you !=D So cool!
ReplyDeleteHooray! thank you and happy anniversary!
ReplyDeleteI completely concur...Kuon/Corn jealous of Kyouko's regard for Ren, as well as the fact that Kyouko may not agree to do the kiss because of her vow to protect her chastity. I am hoping that her explanation in declining the kiss will help Kuon/Ren realize that Kyouko has romantic feelings towards Ren. As far as Kyouko is concerned, Kuon and Ren are two completely different beings so it would be better if she didn't kiss Kuon; Hmmm...I guess i am not that desperate for them to have much skinship under these circumstances. Also, they will be playing house, again as Cain and Setsu, so maybe they can relieve some of their pent up frustration in that environment with plenty of hugs - giving birth to thousands of fairies. Oh dear. My mind seems to be a bit muddled at the moment.
Any update is a good update and even if it is dragged out yet again I will still read it as long as you are summarizing it.
Grace and Peace be with you..
You're welcome and thanks ^-^
DeleteTrue.. Lol, well, those fairies thing might happen after all, Corn looks like Ren and based on her reaction to Ren's kiss on the cheek.. =P
Thanks for reading and the comment ^-^
Thanks so much for posting this so fast! This is the first manga I've ever followed and I'm totally hooked! Can't wait for the full English translation to get posted!!! Aaaaah!
ReplyDeleteAs for what I think will happen...at first I felt just like Kyoko after Ren kissed her on the cheek, lol. Totally confused!
I mean, what the heck happened? Did Ren/Kuon suddenly become so totally desperate to kiss her that he's willing to have that kiss at any cost to her or himself??? If that is the case, then why bother stopping himself from kissing her/getting her to kiss him twice already? And how could he first tell her (as Ren) to protect her virtue, but now (as Corn) ask her to do something that she thinks Ren would see as a betrayal of her vow to him? She would hate herself! This is just so reckless!
But then I thought, No...Corn is completely capable of controlling himself when it comes to Kyoko. He is even able to suppress most of his darkness and get along with Ren because he doesn't want to disappoint her. Does he want her to kiss him? Undoubtedly. But would he want her to do it without real feelings? No way. Moreover, would he want her to do it if he thinks she would ultimately regret or have mixed feelings about it? I just can't see that either. On top of everything, he must know that such a request, with him looking so much like Ren would surely cause Kyoko no end of distress. So what the heck is with this request for a kiss???
My conclusion:
Based on his timing and actions (turns his head to the side, "thinking hard" in a way that she will notice, telling her the story of the "magic book", seeming to realize something, then acting as though it's hopeless) his initial plan was to ask her to kiss him (at least partly so that she wouldn't feel so totally useless), knowing that she cannot/will not because of the promise she made to Ren. But then she goes off on a tangent he never expected (ingredients to break the curse, etc.) and once she's feeling energized again, he doesn't have the heart to continue with his plan/his plan isn't necessary.
Only after she brings up Ren and the Maui Omurice does he change his mind and decide to proceed. In my opinion, this is either because he wants to find out if Kyoko has feelings toward Ren (don't forget, she didn't deny that she had been "ruminating" about Ren, which piqued Corn's curiosity), OR he is doing it to see which side of him she holds a greater allegiance to (will she choose to keep her promise to Ren or instead "save" Corn from his curse?) Either way, I don't believe he would actually let her kiss him, even if she decided to do it for his sake. He's far too emotionally invested to cheapen their relationship that way.
Sorry for the long post! Clearly I'm Waaaaay too invested in this story, lol. Thanks again!
Im guessing she will actually think about kissing him to lift the curse.. but then gets pulled back to reality due to her phone ringing..
DeleteAnyways, thanks for the quick summary!
Thanks for reading ^-^
DeleteYup..and for me, it seems to be a spur of the moment thing = for Corn. But from what you've mentioned, ya, that is possible. I didn't think he initially wanted the kiss since he mentioned that 'traditional methods' won't work then in the end, he decided to say that it works. It is a bit contradicting and his intention seems to be 'divert her attention with more fairy tale stuff' to cheer her up and drop the topic.
No problem~
Ya, that is likely..given how the mangaka likes to drive the readers nuts =P
DeleteThanks for reading ^-^
I'm the O.P.
DeleteAfter FINALLY getting to read the manga for myself (yay!), I have to say I'm less convinced that Kuon/Ren had his emotions in check when he brought up the kiss the second time. I'm quite sure the Mangaka won't allow a kiss at this point (and if she did I think it could wreak a lot of havoc in the story), but I'm definitely less sure that Ren totally thought through the consequences of his actions.
Then again, he's WAAAAAY too clever for his own good (really, it's a little annoying)!
Ya..I think so, too.
DeleteWhatever he was thinking and the outcome, I only hope for progress in their relationship ^^
Indeed..but sometimes, he slips when his emotions get the best of him =P
wow.. thank you :)
ReplyDeleteI hope that when "Corn" asking for kiss.. Kyoko will be trouble as she is in love with Ren.. and can tell him that she loves Ren and thus cant kiss him.. *hopeful thinking* i know this is not going to happen.. and now i will have to freaking wait for a whole MONTH..
You're welcome, rs ^-^
DeleteYa..possible and yes, we'll have to wait another month to know what's really going to happen.
I know what is going to happen: Kyoko will refuse to kiss Corn, explaining that she likes someone else without revealing names and he will think that she is talking about other person and drama drama drama. OH, NO. PLEASE. DON`T.
ReplyDeleteYa, hopefully not, Yasmin.
Delete.
ReplyDeleteRen/Corn used his talent in acting and he is really good at making up stories huh.. hehehe.. and its really interesting for Kyouko to have this talent of memorizing things or remembering things.. Their interactions are cute, (when Corn wants to know what Kyouko is thinking and when Kyouko is aking about what Corn is thinking).. the illustrations, it makes me laugh..
And after all the talk, Kyouko still thought of Ren.. ^^ or maybe because she is seeing/hearing Ren thru Corn..
This seems to be a teaser again, Ms. Kat.. Well, is it really going to be a kiss?? oh, Ren you are so cunning.. ^^ i'm not sure if Kyouko will do it or not.. seems 50-50 to me.. though i want to see a kiss, i wanted more of a confession.. the past and feelings of love.. though i think Kyouko will be hurt by all of this..
Anyway, thank you again Ms. Kat.. And have a very very very Happy Anniversary and more enjoyable and fulfilling year ahead of you.. <3<3<3
Yup ^-^
DeleteTrue..this series is very unpredictable.
You're welcome and thanks for the comment ^-^
Aw Ren,you're using the fairytale story to get a kiss from Kyoko eh? You naughty you~ I don't really think that Kyoko would kiss him. You know Nakamura-sensei likes to troll.. Kyouko would freak out. But it's not really impossible to have a kiss in the next chapter though. A confession that she likes Ren maybe? Kyouko loves Corn as a friend so she would save him no matter what,I guess..
ReplyDeleteYup, Aisyah. Her reaction to it would be amusing..I wonder if Kyouko's brain would go on overdrive thinking whether to do this or not. =P
DeleteWow. So Fast ;) Thanks alot kat! Hope they kiss. Please Kyouko ;((
ReplyDeleteYou're welcome, Kassie ^-^
Deletei don't like that Kuon keeps lying to her and deceiving her with fairytales like she was still a kid. she's gonna be really hurt when she'll find out the truth and i think (hope) she will before leaving Guam. i only hope she won't push him away :((
ReplyDeletethanks for all your summaries, as always :)))
also, she's gonna be troubled: kissi kuon to lift the curse=betraying Ren, not kissing him=refusing to do the only thing that could save her precious friend...i really don't like this, i hope Kuon was joking
DeleteTrue..though she loves them fairy tales ^-^
DeleteHopefully not..it took a long time for them to be at this stage so for anything dramatic to happen regarding their relationship..we might reach chapter 300+ And, it doesn't help that this has become a monthly series.
Thanks for reading ^-^
True..I wonder how she'll react. Well, Corn looks serious there. But then, it seems that this arc is alternating between funny and serious so..
Hi! thanks for the translation! When I read it raw and saw Kyoko crying and remembering what Reino said, I allllmost thought Kuon dropped the bomb but then... he obviously didnt ... my mind is exhaaausted! XD 208 chapters and HE CANT STILL TALK ABOUT IT! It might be only me but Im starting to feel uncomfortable with all the lies... Yes, the fairytale is their way to communicate and even talk about serious issues but she'll get hurt sooner or later... or maybe she wont because she's unpredictable Kyoko but yeah...
ReplyDeleteI do think Kuon is doing the "kiss me" thing to discourage Kyoko from trying to lift his curse... he knows she'll freak out -and sensei wants to troll us too!- but it could lead to her admitting she likes someone, Kuon might think its Shotaro and get all crazy like he always does and end up knowing she likes him OR Ten-sama calls Kyoko and then nothing happens T__T
what Reino -yaay I'm happy to see him even if its just a flashback- said about the stone breaks my heart because at such a young age baby Kuon had such strong feelings within him... we imagine its about feeling pressured to be good at modeling/acting but I hope Sensei would elaborate in what happened back then because Reino clearly described the stone had the feelings of misery and anger of the owner.
Thanks for reading, GoldenGluvzKJ2 ^-^
DeleteYa, I know what you mean..
True..that's possible..and hopefully, no interruption...if it does, hope it is a 'good thing' and not a 'bad thing'.
That's right..and for Corn to say it is inborn..it might be more than because of the pressures. It must be pretty bad since he thinks that it is only Kyouko who is 'spared form his curse'.
well, I think that she won´t kiss him... I mean, she has problems with Kuon looking like Ren. Kyoko has already scolded him for doing things that could destory her image of "Ren Tsuruga". This would be really troublesome for her if she will allways remind a real kiss with a guy who looks like Ren. It would be more likely that she tells him these details. HOPEFULLY... I really wish their relation would proceed ._."
ReplyDeleteTrue.. and I agree, Unknown. Hopefully their relationship would progress and not regress from this arc.
DeleteThanks for the summary, it's totally crazy how kuan asks for a kiss, and it seemed like he was jealous of his other self (ren) as well. I want something good to happen like kyoko confessing that she likes ren. Maybe she will tell kuan because she shared most of her secrets with kuan when she was young.
ReplyDeleteThanks for reading, subhra ^-^
DeleteYup, let's hope for the best ^^
Thank you so much!!! you are really fast. About the kiss, maybe she will give him, but not in the lips....because she made a promise.....
ReplyDeleteYou're welcome, Clarageo ^-^
DeleteTrue..
Huh. Ren's a Third Culture Kid. I wonder if that's what the author is going for. While in reality he probably wouldn't suffer as much as they're implying, in Japan "not belonging" is probably one of the bigger curses a person can have - and a TCK doesn't fit in anywhere. They're split between two cultures, belonging to neither. In the Skip Beat universe where America shares Japan's ethnocentrism, that could indeed be a quite heavy burden to bear.
ReplyDeleteHm..interesting point.
DeleteI kinda want it to happen, but if it does it will just make it harder in the long run. Yet, if she confesses, there will be steamy Cain and Setsu scenes :D either way, poor Ren
ReplyDeleteHehehe.. is that so.
DeleteI don't know why Kuon is asking for a kiss since it was him(but as Ren) who told her to keep her chastity. mmmm It'd be like he is testing her??? I'm getting a little confused here!!
ReplyDeleteTrue..though it seems like a spur of the moment thing to me. He wasn't really thinking when he said that. But, who knows..maybe we'll know more what he was thinking in the next chapter.
DeleteThank you so much! The English version normally takes 15 days or more to come out.... So I come here to read it! You do a great job and I love reading your comments after the chapter! They help make it clearer and they give me some ideas as well! Thank you again for all the time you take to do this :) you are doing an awesome job! Please keep it up! =D
ReplyDeleteThanks for reading and comment ^-^
DeleteThank you so much!
ReplyDeleteA kiss, mygodwhat'sgonnahappen! so excited! kiss him, kyoko! though that would sort of make things difficult between her and tsuruga, like cheating on him
You're welcome ^-^
DeleteYup...indeed, what's going to happen.
how about this outcome: .. Kyoko looks sad and starts to cry silently, looking up at Corn with eyes full of pain and all teary.. Corn says something like "don't worry about it" or even puts up another story that not everyone's kiss will do the job and Kyoko can't help or something... and then while crying, Kyoko is saying "..it's not.. the kiss won't work because i've already in love with someone else.." - or maybe she'll even say with WHOM)))) - i'd love to see THAT!!!
ReplyDeleteI'm so hopping to see how Ren will discover about Kyoko being in love with him and then he forgive himself.. because ALL of him wants to have her love)))) and then, and then... pffff... my mind is blowing out so i'll wait for mangaka do her job))))
That's possible, Alexsandra especially since her tears is his weakness =P
DeleteYup ^^
Thanks for translating. I wish the story would progress a bit faster. I have been reading this manga since 2002, hopefully it doesn't take another decade to complete the story :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for reading ^-^
DeleteIndeed..hopefully not.
Thank you!! This staved off my longing for the next chapter's translation, haha. :)
ReplyDeletePersonally, I think it won't go that far, judging from the pacing of this manga so far. But there's definitely going to be some great development! I'm guessing that Kyoko will hesitate, wonder what he means, trail off about something else, perhaps freak out a bit, come back to the point and finally decide that she can't. Even though it would save Corn, it wouldn't be right for her to kiss "the affectation of Ren Tsuruga" because Ren wouldn't be doing that with her in his private life. Sooo, Corn might be touched by her saying that and do something further, like shooting her a seductive gaze again? Or maybe saying something that only Ren would know, therefore giving Kyoko an inkling that it might be him. In any case, it'll be good. :)
Anyway, just postulating! Feel free to ignore my rambling, haha.
You're welcome ^-^
DeleteTrue..and indeed, those are possible. And I just hope that there would be no outside intrusion..else, as you've mention, it will be a good interaction ^^
Hello. Thanks for this and nice go to next.
ReplyDeleteI presonally want kissing trip between Koyko and Corn. She can make him her experimental bunny :). However she can give him her first kiss but that shoud do not make her stop. Poor Ren maybe we will whitness breake of his selfrestrain and Koyko make some experience that make her more dangerous a mature.
Thanks for reading ^-^
DeleteHm..in what way, 'experimental bunny'? Her reaction if she were to kiss Ren?
Hehe, possible. He does that at times. ^^
Thank you so much for the translation I read your previous chapter before it got translated. I think the manga is just trying to tease us and get oir hopes up and then nothing happens. Well i hope not this manga is kinda long ant the worset part is that we have to wait for a month. I think this manga will finish in 2020 Haha . I hope not. I really can't wait to see Kyoko's reaction and what i Ren planning. Thank u again so much. Plz keep posting!
ReplyDeleteThanks for reading, A ^-^
DeleteYa..possible. That's true..it is the waiting that is hard..from two weeks to monthly.
Yup ^^
Thank you so much for the summary :D
ReplyDeleteI have so many things to say about this
1. OMG
2. I think I might go and fangirl in the corner so it looks like im having epileptic seizues
3. OMG
4. Knowing how oblivious Kyoko is shell probably be like 'ooh you have to kiss a fairy princess from another fairy world?'
5. Maybe he's trying to test her, after what Ren told her about keeping her purity and all.
6. Why one month between every chapter? that means like only 12 chapters a year.. we'll be stuck on this arc for like 3 years.. D:
Thank you again for the summary, can't wait for next chapter.. one month :'(
Thanks for reading, Farah ^-^
DeletePossible for 4 and 5. Indeed..for 6. I think that's what drive us readers nuts especially with cliffhangers like that. =P

ReplyDeleteYou're welcome, lenexija ^-^
DeleteHi Kat, thank you very much for your translation of Chineese scans. You are the first and the only source of what's going on in the new chapter for Russian fans)) I mean until Japaneese raws are released - but it takes a long time sometimes. Have a lucky day!
ReplyDeleteThanks for reading ^-^
DeleteIs that so ^^ Thanks, same to you ^^
I think its funny that not that many chapters ago she accepted sho's challenge and not long after admited she was in love with ren....hmmmmmm sounds like sho gets a new maid ;3
ReplyDeleteHehe, ya..but I don't worry much about that. I'm sure Ren would think of something for her to get out of that =P
DeleteWell, it reminds me times when I proclaimed I will or woun´t ever do. My only possibility to cancel my rush statements was to declare that I have changed & my opinion has changed and therefore those claims are no longer valid, but as I know Kyoko, she woun´t do that. Well at least not yet.
DeleteAnd by the way, it looks like she completely forgot about her promise to Shotaro, that she´ll become his maid if she´ll be foolish enough to fall in love with Ren. Now she was much more afraid of rejection and disappointment from Ren... which is funny because he likes her too.. Can´t wait for more 0:)
Yup, I don't think Kyouko would do that so I'm thinking she, Ren or both would think of a way to bypass that.
DeleteYa..unless, she no longer cares..I mean who is Shou to ruin her life just because of that? =P Indeed. It is a case of both not knowing how they are feeling for each other = still thinking that it is unrequited love.
Hmm, I don't know? I thought the deal was that as long as Kyouko becomes a/the top Japanese actress, Shou is out of luck? Lol. Clearly Shou meant that to exclude her falling in love...but what if she can do both at the same time??? (become a top actress and fall in love)?
DeleteAh, which deal is this, Daneille? Hehe, I got confused. About the love thing, I thought it is about not falling in love with Ren when they are quarreling at the parking area after Ren saw them together in the car. And if she does, she'll be his servant and she'll go back to Kyoto..iirc.
DeleteAbout the actress thing, that was the first one, right? When she saw him with his manager in chapter 1?
Hey Kat,
DeleteHmm, after rereading the passages in chapter 191/193, I guess it could be taken either way. It's true, their fight does center on the subject of whether Kyouko will fall in love with Ren.
To me, though, it sounded like Kyouko diverged somewhat from the subject of love when she started talking about how her new primary purpose in showbiz was to improve as an actress because it makes her like herself better. To which Shou replies that Ren will subdue her. She will lose to her feelings and just end up as another fangirl of Ren (I'm paraphrasing). To which Kyouko then replies that she would never do that, she will become a/the top class actress in Japan, and she will never "kneel" before Ren. And that is when they make the bet.
In my mind, that sounded less like "I'll never fall in love with Ren" than it did "I will never let Ren distract me from my goals." But after re-reading it, I can definitely see it either way. I guess we'll just have to wait and see! >.< Ugh...how many months.... lol
I see, Daneille ^^
DeleteWell, if it is fangirl type, I think they can use that as an excuse to get away with that bet. ^^
Yup, so many months before we could even get there. I won't be surprised if this whole year, we would still be in Guam. ^^;;
I think there will not be a kiss, but an accidental confession of her love for Ren while she tries to get out of kissing Corn. And, Jelly woods will probably interrupt pretty soon in the next two chapters, she may even interrupt Corn and Kyoko straight after he asks her to kiss him. Knowing how nakamura sensei works.
ReplyDeleteIndeed..that might happen.
DeleteAnd, as mentioned, I really hope the interruption won't be in the next chapter after that request.
Thanks for the summary :) I always go to this blog when i hear that the raw version is out because thanks to your hard work i can finally understand what they're saying XD
ReplyDeleteThis chapter based on a lie really irritates me ! I mean for how long is this going to continue ?
And i just can't understand how is kyoko believing every word he says so easily ! She needs to get down to earth , this is really going too far !
And why is Ren asking for a kiss? Does he want to satisfy an urging need? Or because he is too afraid to face her directly?
Let's suppose she kisses him , what will happen next? If he tells her the truth she will get mad because he lied to her.But i think she will not kiss him because she will be too troubled by that !
I just don't know in which direction this manga is going ! I feel lost right now :(
And also one month to release one chapter is a long period of time ! It's been more then 6 years that i'm reading this manga !
I loved the challenges and the acting parts in the beginning , but now it's just boring !But i guess i will never stop reading it because i'm too curious !
Thanks for reading ^-^
DeleteAh..cannot say. I thought he would at least lie something about his past but that didn't happen.
Well, she believes that he is a fairy so...
Hm..it seems to be a sudden request to me..if there is a need..probably to satisfy his jealous over Ren? He wanted to drop the topic earlier on so why he is suddenly reviving it.
Well, this series has always been unpredictable. Indeed..it is more bearable before when it comes out twice a month. I think the series is focusing more on the romance and their overcoming over the past now rather than the acting part especially since I think there is no doubt anymore over how good they both are in that field.
Hey Kat, I wanted to pick your brain about something. :)
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry to post this here because it's not the right chapter, but unfortunately the chapter/s in question won't allow me to post any new comments now. So here's my question:
In chapter/s 200/201, in the scene where Cain is hugging Setsu and asks her to cheer up, at the very end he says "Setsu, ___
___" (we don't know what's in the blank bubbles).
I know in your summary you wrote that you thought Cain said something that calmed her, but looking at her expressions, I get
the exact opposite impression, that at first she appears to be in shock, trying to hang on to her composure, trying to
figure out what to do. But then after his words, it's like she was shocked out of her shock, maybe. lol. To me, her
expression looks like full-blown "love" mode (at least that's how her eyes look to me). And it's only seeing the president
watching that snaps her out of that expression...
I imagine I'm not the first one to suggest that maybe Cain told her "I love you"? I'd be interested to hear any thoughts
comments you (or other readers) might have on that hypothesis! :)
Hehe, forgot about that Daneille..it is in chapter 200.
DeleteHm..possible..something along those lines. I wonder if we'll ever get to know it like how we don't know what is her birthday gift for him.
Hey Kat,
ReplyDeleteAfter reading your theory that Ren is currently styled as Kuon because of his passport, it occurred to me that if that is indeed true, then that means he will have to revert to that look once more in order to leave Guam. Which would mean that Corn could potentially make one more appearance before the trip ends...
So taking that idea into consideration, here is my latest theory:
Talking with Kyouko is making Kuon/Ren more and more jealous of each other, especially Kuon (lol, what a bizzarre setup!). I think Kyouko's worshipful attitude toward Ren and everything he does is ticking Kuon off and he wants to feel that he has trumped Ren in Kyouko's heart (like someone else said, a Ren-Kuon-Kyouko love triangle). Although Ren was in control when he brought up breaking the curse (to cheer up Kyouko), my guess is Kuon took over after Kyouko suggested eating the rice. So I think it's him who is pushing the kiss.
Like other people have suggested, I predict their discussion will be interrupted and left hanging. Kyouko will be in emotional turmoil all during the 4 days of filming. Ren/Kuon will feel bad, thinking that her conflicted feelings only come from her promise to Ren. Before they leave, Corn/Kuon will make another appearance to tell her not to worry about the kiss anymore, and I bet Kyouko will confess that she has feelings for someone else (hopefully she'll actually say it's Ren). That would set the stage for new relationship development when they get back to Japan.
Ahh, then again, who the heck knows??? Nakamura-sensei is such a mastermind with this stuff! The story could end up going in a totally different direction, lol. I wish I knew if this "on location" shoot was supposed to be the last shoot for TM? It doesn't seem like it should quite be ready to wrap, since by my calculations the production has only been underway for a couple months or so...and like you pointed out, Kat, Ren/Kuon absolutely must have a break through before the end... *raaaaah* *pulling out hair*
Sorry for my long rambling posts. Chatting about the story is the only way I stay sane between releases, lol.
Hm..that is quite possible, Daneille and indeed, she is quite good with this..you think it is like that..then it is but most of the time, it isn't.
DeleteIf I remember correctly, I think this is the last outdoor shoot but not necessarily the last shoot. Indeed, most likely there would be a breakthrough..well, I really hope so.
It's okay..^^ It is nice to hear other people's theories ^^
I foresee this turning out really bad... I mean, think about it, Kyoko doesn't even want to look at him because he looks like Ren, because his expressions remind her of Ren... so I sincerely doubt she'll want to kiss a Ren-look-alike, and knowing Kyoko, she'll say as much, something along the lines of "I don't want to kiss you because you look like Ren," which in turn, will be taken the wrong way, Ren thinking 'she wont kiss me because she doesn't feel that way for Ren' when its really the opposite. This may very well be negative progression in their relationship... AUUGHHH, if only they were honest.
ReplyDeleteAh, that is possible but I really hope that it won't be a negative progression, Jeremy.
DeleteI mean..the series is already on a slow pace..if it ends up like that...when would this series end..chapter 300 with a once a month release? ^^;; That would be like around 7-8 more years.
Ah, prehaps I should have stated that differebtly; negative progression, is still progression, only, in a negative mannor. I'm refering to the very cliche and extremely irritation pattern that is common in shojo, in which, confussion and missunderstandings will first tear apart the relationship, creating an emotional chain reaction of distrust and doubt, that ultimatly leads to a dramatic confrontation, and thus, a confession. No, such trash is always so painful to read, and skip beat has done well not to follow these destructive trends. Forwardness and honesty is much more apprieciated in compairison. ;3
DeleteAh, I see, Jeremy..but that was what I had in mind. That is usually used to prolong a series by other shoujos so I hope it won't happen in this series.
DeleteIndeed..it would be painful to read.
Yup ^^ Hopefully, we'll get into that soon ^^
Ah, so there was no need for me to elaborate, XD
DeleteAt any rate, I'm glad we agree it would be the worst possible situation, however, the fact that it is so commonly used posses a question: is this by any means a valid reflection of Japanese culture? Does pride and humility -traits of the Bushido, that are said to carry on in their modern businessmen- truly close them off from properly expressing themselves? Haha, perhaps I'm thinking too much into this.
I think in some ways, it does, Jeremy.
DeleteSo those who are more vocal and very expressive of their thoughts and feelings aren't exactly encouraged. Or, most Japanese I assume are turned off by that. I recall that group harmony is prioritized than the individual in Japan. There is also the phrase they always say, 'sorry for bothering/intruding'. That is the impression I have.
Of course, I don't like to generalize or profile by race, and I certainly have no actual experience to make a claim by, but this is the general feel I get from shuffling through their media, history, and culture. This discouragement of expression is also apparent in the way the more eccentric of otaku treat their idols, as if they are not people themselves, and thus have no right to a life or love. And the way their society looks down on otaku, as if the passion for manga/anime/video games/idols is bad, simply because those who go too far, make their voices heard. Ah, but I'm moving off topic. Back to Skip Beat; Ren and Kyoko forever! ;3
DeleteTrue, Jeremy..indeed, since we don't have real actual experience as in living in their society, we only have their media, history, culture, etc to get the general feel of what they are like. Of course, there are similarities that there are some generalizations/stereotype impressions but it doesn't necessarily mean all of them are like that. ^^
DeleteI get the impression that it is more than just being obsessed with that. I think it is more like nerds bordering perverts..much like how virgins are like 'rare' or 'looked down upon'...based on some manga/anime.
Yup ^^
Of course, by no means am I judging the race as a whole. I recognize that a nation is not a rock, but a mound of pebbles, and while each may be stacked as one, there can be no doubt there exist subtle differences ingrained in each stone, rivets and textures that cannot be replicated. I think we can both agree, this is purely subjective generalization -which, perhaps holds some truth in mass, but does not exist as a clear line to define by.
DeleteAh, I was referring to the Otaku trolls that will break CD's, tear up posters, and burn books, criticizing and ranting incessantly on the internet when their favorite idol finds a boyfriend. Going as far as to call them sluts, they'll stop supporting even the most talented idols, simply because they don't want their dream girl to be taken by another, and boycott any new form of entertainment that she is featured in. In fact, some Idols have lost their jobs because of this. And in turn, this gives Otaku a very bad name, making them appear as the scum of society; when really, the word translates to "obsessed fan", which -at its core- is not such a bad thing; as we all have things we're obsessed with. Technically, someone who loves science would be a science otaku, but because of the dark connotation its associated with, the term has become no more than an insult.
Nice metaphor, Jeremy ^-^ That's right.
DeleteAh I see..those types. Hm..I know about them not wanting the idols to have boyfriends that it is even in the contract. I recall there was a girl who even shaved her hair after getting caught. I didn't know it was up to that extent = destroy a career and reputation. Talk about obsessed. Indeed, those types give them a bad name. I guess that is why there are those who are kind of like 'closet otaku'.
Right well, their biggest fan base is Otakus, or perhaps one could say, to be a fan makes you an Otaku. At any rate, it all surmounts to this, if your fan base wont buy media with a certain actress in it, then don't use that actress. Its only good business sense. Of course, its even worse if you signed a 'no boy-friend contract' because not only did you betray your fans trust/loyalty, but you have also failed to properly preform your job. Because its written and signed, it becomes a legal issue too.The idol you mentioned, Minami Minegishi from AKB48, not only shaved her head, but she was in tears, feeling ashamed that she should happen to fall in love and pursue it, feeling ashamed for putting her happiness before that of her fan's for once. So once again, I think we come back to the subject of pride, duty, and humility.
DeleteDue to her repentance they didn't sack her, but she was removed from her team and demoted to a recruit. Interestingly enough, one of the most popular founding members of AKB48, Atsuki Maeda, was caught for a similar scandal, but in her case, it happened after she graduated from AKB, after her 'no-love' contract was terminated, yet she was treated as a traitor and a slut regardless. Her job offerings dropped severely, and I don't think she was ever able to recover her spot in the entertainment industry.
I cant agree with this, Its not right. Such contracts should not exist in the first place. Idols and Seyriuus are here to entertain us, not to become slaves to our desires and delusions; they too deserve happiness. They too, are humans, and have as much right to, have as much need of, love as we do.
But yes, that's why closet Otakus exist. Because if they made their passion clear, family friends and coworkers would look down on them.
DeleteYup, it does go back to that..and thanks for sharing this, Jeremy ^^
DeleteIndeed..that was quite harsh with Maeda. Reading a bit on her, ah..it seems that she has an incident after graduation, too. ^^; Is that what you are referring to or her current boyfriend? Or both? ^^; Speaking of that, I wonder if it works vice-versa..like boy idol groups should also have 'no love life' or at least keep it a secret. I get the impression that handsome/beautiful celebrities, especially East Asians, tend to do that whether there is such a contract or not, because they would lose some of their fans if they already had someone/getting married.
Indeed..and I guess it is hard for those type of people to distinguish that their idols are also human..probably thinking that they are 2D type girls.
Ya.
For Maeda, I was referring to the incident after graduation, I'm not aware that she had one prior, as she was popular to the very end. But while I think sexes should be treated equally, I doubt that is the case. I mean, have you heard of any male scandles from Japan? certainly they must occure, but no one seems to be making a big deal. I wonder why that is? Regardless, its quite a contradition to how we treat celeberties in the US, where, rather than ban them from realtionships, we support and gossip about them. Maybe there's a little jealousy, but no expectations or demands; we simply accept it, and that's how it should be.
DeleteOn a side note, I consider myself to be a Japan otaku, in love with everything from their culture and history to their food and media, so the behavoir and aquired bad rep of otakus deeply saddens me.
Lol 2D girls.... hahaha, there are some otaku that go as far as dating their body pillows... certainly anime girls are cute, but there can be no substite for the real thing... not that I've ever been so fortunate as to be the voice of experience.
Ah, so it is the graduation. I googled her name and boyfriend..got some article about dating a kabuki actor with intention to marry. I was wondering if you meant that one, Jeremy.
DeleteI have heard of a male scandal that it even reached my local newspapers. =P Well, aside from the Minegishi incident, it is Smap's Kusanagi Tsuyoshi - drunk, naked, public display, causing ruckus late at night and got arrested for it. I'm not sure how badly it affected his career/the band, etc and I recall there was a public apology for it. It is the same here..usually support and gossip about them. Though sometimes, go vicious on a supposed third party of a love team.
Is that so.. Well, for the English term otaku, indeed I'm a fan. But for the Japanese term of 'obsessed with anime/manga'/geek hehe, maybe not to that extent. ^^; So, maybe, better not say 'otaku' in Japan. I get the impression that bad rep is more on within Japan itself.
Hehe..^^
Yeah, but his scandle is understandable, not so frail and hollow as dating. I mean, there's no question that getting drunk and running naked in public is foolish and illegal if not immoral... but I don't know how you can compair that to chasing after love.
DeleteIndeed, that's why I said 'love' rather than obssessed, lol At any rate I really enjoyed talking to you, though hopefully next time we can keep it to a happier topic
Ah, Jeremy..I thought you were talking about any male scandals. So you mean male scandals regarding relationships? Reading on Smap, they mention it as a scandal when one had a 'shotgun marriage'. Does that count? But then, I got your point. I get the impression that girls tend to suffer more in romance scandals rather than the guys.
DeleteThank you and I also enjoyed talking with you ^^ Until next time ^^
I feel like the last few pages, Corn wants a kiss but the way this hands were shaped. Kyoko might think he want the stone to break the curse.
ReplyDeleteHehe..hm..possible, Jennifer..she might think something else..though his hint about lifting curses in fairy tales..does it involve a stone?
DeleteErmergerd
ReplyDeleteDo you haz chapter 209 yet?
Right now..yes.
Delete
