I was wondering if you meant that one, Jeremy.

I have heard of a male scandal that it even reached my local newspapers. =P Well, aside from the Minegishi incident, it is Smap's Kusanagi Tsuyoshi - drunk, naked, public display, causing ruckus late at night and got arrested for it. I'm not sure how badly it affected his career/the band, etc and I recall there was a public apology for it. It is the same here..usually support and gossip about them. Though sometimes, go vicious on a supposed third party of a love team.

Is that so.. Well, for the English term otaku, indeed I'm a fan. But for the Japanese term of 'obsessed with anime/manga'/geek hehe, maybe not to that extent. ^^; So, maybe, better not say 'otaku' in Japan. But while I think sexes should be treated equally, I doubt that is the case. I mean, have you heard of any male scandles from Japan? certainly they must occure, but no one seems to be making a big deal. I wonder why that is? Regardless, its quite a contradition to how we treat celeberties in the US, where, rather than ban them from realtionships, we support and gossip about them. Maybe there's a little jealousy, but no expectations or demands; we simply accept it, and that's how it should be.

On a side note, I consider myself to be a Japan otaku, in love with everything from their culture and history to their food and media, so the behavoir and aquired bad rep of otakus deeply saddens me.

Lol 2D girls.... hahaha, there are some otaku that go as far as dating their body pillows... certainly anime girls are cute, but there can be no substite for the real thing... not that I've ever been so fortunate as to be the voice of experience.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02316746461064804194noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5891049529945268328.post-70912858657556436302014-02-12T20:41:13.003+08:002014-02-12T20:41:13.003+08:00Yup, it does go back to that..and thanks for shari...Yup, it does go back to that..and thanks for sharing this, Jeremy ^^

Indeed..that was quite harsh with Maeda. Reading a bit on her, ah..it seems that she has an incident after graduation, too. ^^; Is that what you are referring to or her current boyfriend? Or both? ^^; Speaking of that, I wonder if it works vice-versa..like boy idol groups should also have 'no love life' or at least keep it a secret. I get the impression that handsome/beautiful celebrities, especially East Asians, tend to do that whether there is such a contract or not, because they would lose some of their fans if they already had someone/getting married.

Indeed..and I guess it is hard for those type of people to distinguish that their idols are also human..probably thinking that they are 2D type girls.

Ya. At any rate, it all surmounts to this, if your fan base wont buy media with a certain actress in it, then don't use that actress. Its only good business sense. Of course, its even worse if you signed a 'no boy-friend contract' because not only did you betray your fans trust/loyalty, but you have also failed to properly preform your job. Because its written and signed, it becomes a legal issue too.The idol you mentioned, Minami Minegishi from AKB48, not only shaved her head, but she was in tears, feeling ashamed that she should happen to fall in love and pursue it, feeling ashamed for putting her happiness before that of her fan's for once. So once again, I think we come back to the subject of pride, duty, and humility.

Due to her repentance they didn't sack her, but she was removed from her team and demoted to a recruit. Interestingly enough, one of the most popular founding members of AKB48, Atsuki Maeda, was caught for a similar scandal, but in her case, it happened after she graduated from AKB, after her 'no-love' contract was terminated, yet she was treated as a traitor and a slut regardless. Her job offerings dropped severely, and I don't think she was ever able to recover her spot in the entertainment industry.

I cant agree with this, Its not right. Such contracts should not exist in the first place. Idols and Seyriuus are here to entertain us, not to become slaves to our desires and delusions; they too deserve happiness. They too, are humans, and have as much right to, have as much need of, love as we do.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02316746461064804194noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5891049529945268328.post-32067310218034251722014-02-12T12:05:58.491+08:002014-02-12T12:05:58.491+08:00Hehe..hm..possible, Jennifer..she might think some...Hehe..hm..possible, Jennifer..she might think something else..though his hint about lifting curses in fairy tales..does it involve a stone? I recognize that a nation is not a rock, but a mound of pebbles, and while each may be stacked as one, there can be no doubt there exist subtle differences ingrained in each stone, rivets and textures that cannot be replicated. I think we can both agree, this is purely subjective generalization -which, perhaps holds some truth in mass, but does not exist as a clear line to define by.

Ah, I was referring to the Otaku trolls that will break CD's, tear up posters, and burn books, criticizing and ranting incessantly on the internet when their favorite idol finds a boyfriend. Going as far as to call them sluts, they'll stop supporting even the most talented idols, simply because they don't want their dream girl to be taken by another, and boycott any new form of entertainment that she is featured in. In fact, some Idols have lost their jobs because of this. And in turn, this gives Otaku a very bad name, making them appear as the scum of society; when really, the word translates to "obsessed fan", which -at its core- is not such a bad thing; as we all have things we're obsessed with. Technically, someone who loves science would be a science otaku, but because of the dark connotation its associated with, the term has become no more than an insult.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02316746461064804194noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5891049529945268328.post-76480453816984361652014-02-12T07:05:57.901+08:002014-02-12T07:05:57.901+08:00I feel like the last few pages, Corn wants a kiss ...I feel like the last few pages, Corn wants a kiss but the way this hands were shaped. This discouragement of expression is also apparent in the way the more eccentric of otaku treat their idols, as if they are not people themselves, and thus have no right to a life or love. And the way their society looks down on otaku, as if the passion for manga/anime/video games/idols is bad, simply because those who go too far, make their voices heard. Ah, but I'm moving off topic. I mean, think about it, Kyoko doesn't even want to look at him because he looks like Ren, because his expressions remind her of Ren... so I sincerely doubt she'll want to kiss a Ren-look-alike, and knowing Kyoko, she'll say as much, something along the lines of "I don't want to kiss you because you look like Ren," which in turn, will be taken the wrong way, Ren thinking 'she wont kiss me because she doesn't feel that way for Ren' when its really the opposite. This may very well be negative progression in their relationship... After reading your theory that Ren is cu...Hey Kat,

After reading your theory that Ren is currently styled as Kuon because of his passport, it occurred to me that if that is indeed true, then that means he will have to revert to that look once more in order to leave Guam. Which would mean that Corn could potentially make one more appearance before the trip ends...

So taking that idea into consideration, here is my latest theory:
Talking with Kyouko is making Kuon/Ren more and more jealous of each other, especially Kuon (lol, what a bizzarre setup!). I think Kyouko's worshipful attitude toward Ren and everything he does is ticking Kuon off and he wants to feel that he has trumped Ren in Kyouko's heart (like someone else said, a Ren-Kuon-Kyouko love triangle). Although Ren was in control when he brought up breaking the curse (to cheer up Kyouko), my guess is Kuon took over after Kyouko suggested eating the rice. So I think it's him who is pushing the kiss.

Like other people have suggested, I predict their discussion will be interrupted and left hanging. Kyouko will be in emotional turmoil all during the 4 days of filming. Ren/Kuon will feel bad, thinking that her conflicted feelings only come from her promise to Ren. Before they leave, Corn/Kuon will make another appearance to tell her not to worry about the kiss anymore, and I bet Kyouko will confess that she has feelings for someone else (hopefully she'll actually say it's Ren). That would set the stage for new relationship development when they get back to Japan.

Ahh, then again, who the heck knows??? Nakamura-sensei is such a mastermind with this stuff! The story could end up going in a totally different direction, lol. I wish I knew if this "on location" shoot was supposed to be the last shoot for TM? It doesn't seem like it should quite be ready to wrap, since by my calculations the production has only been underway for a couple months or so...and like you pointed out, Kat, Ren/Kuon absolutely must have a break through before the end... *raaaaah* *pulling out hair*

Sorry for my long rambling posts. Hmm, after rereading the passages in ch...Hey Kat,

Hmm, after rereading the passages in chapter 191/193, I guess it could be taken either way. It's true, their fight does center on the subject of whether Kyouko will fall in love with Ren.

To me, though, it sounded like Kyouko diverged somewhat from the subject of love when she started talking about how her new primary purpose in showbiz was to improve as an actress because it makes her like herself better. To which Shou replies that Ren will subdue her. She will lose to her feelings and just end up as another fangirl of Ren (I'm paraphrasing). To which Kyouko then replies that she would never do that, she will become a/the top class actress in Japan, and she will never "kneel" before Ren. And that is when they make the bet.

In my mind, that sounded less like "I'll never fall in love with Ren" than it did "I will never let Ren distract me from my goals." But after re-reading it, I can definitely see it either way. I guess we'll just have to wait and see! >.< Ugh...how many months.... lolDaneillehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16245352377639172504noreply@blogger.com
