Hirunaka No Ryuusei [Chapter 53]

Mamura asks Suzume if she’s free this Sunday. This surprises Suzume that she wonders what he meant by that. Mamura tells her that it is his birthday this Sunday so they are going to eat outside. Her father and Daichi would always pester him to bring her along. This made Suzume brightly ask if it’s his birthday. He tells her that it is on the 10th. Suzume asks if she can invite Yuyuka. Mamura says if Suzume wants to. This made Suzume exclaim that is great, thank you. She asks where they would be going. He tells her that it will be at Tsukiji [famous fish-seafood] market to eat sushi. Suzume blushes for it is the holy place, Tsukiji..drool, drool. Later on, with Yuyuka, Susume tells her about meeting at 9am before going to Tsukiji so does she want to come. Yuyuka says that it is too early. Suzume is reading a book about Tsukiji. After a pause, Yuyuka declines. This puzzles Suzume that she reminds her that Mamura is coming. Yuyuka says that isn’t it awkward to eat sushi together with someone who rejected her. Suzume apologizes and says that isn’t what she meant. Yuyuka says that it is alright, actually, she ..is already interested..in someone else. This shocks Suzume that she throws away her book and screams. Yuyuka says that she’s noisy to death. Suzume asks her who it is and what section. Blushing Yuyuka says that it is [Minagawa] Togyuu-senpai. Suzume goes into shock for the second time. Holding her head, Yuyuka curses for she said what’s on her head and that is like admitting it. Suzume asks how come it became like that, she doesn’t quite understand. Yuyuka exclaims how she should know for she also wants to understand it since she sincerely likes Mamura yet unexpectedly, towards that kind of guy, that kind of guy!!! Suzume thinks that Yuyuka likes him since she mentioned ‘that guy’ twice. Looking at the side, blushing Yuyuka says that obviously it shouldn’t be like this, and what should she do.. Moved by this, Suzume says that she’s so cute. Yuyuka calls her stupid for she is always cute, and should she go see an ophthalmologist. Yuyuka threatens her not to tell anyone or she won’t forgive her. Suzume thinks that Yuyuka likes Togyuu-senpai. In bed, Suzume thinks that Yuyuka worked and strived hard that even if it didn’t progressed smoothly, she still found a new love. She is a bit startled that the other party is Togyuu-senpai but to make Yuyuka like him, he is definitely an amazing person. Suzume feels a bit lonely for in the end, she’ll be going to that birthday by herself and what about the gift..she doesn’t have taste in choosing gifts. Then, she realizes something for if Mamura is mentioned, isn’t it that, yes, it’s only that!! At Tsukiji Market Station, Mamura looks at his cellphone and it is 9:45am. Mamura wants to kill Suzume for she told him to meet at 9am. Then, Suzume arrives and says that she’s late. She asks where his father and the others are. Mamura angrily says that they are meeting with the others at the restaurant and compared to that, isn’t it already 10am. Suzume apologizes to him and wanted to tell him that she’ll be late but she doesn’t know his email. “So, even if it is somewhat sudden, FOR YOU. THIS GIFT.”

As she holds the bag to him, Mamura goes huh, at this time-- Suzume apologizes that she is the type of person who would find it unbearable if she doesn’t immediately give the gift. She urges him to quickly open it up and see. Mamura couldn’t believe that it is in this place and time. He opens it up and it is headphones. Suzume tells him that she’s late because she bought this. She was at a loss for a long time but it seems that he would always listen to music so she thinks that this is good. Suzume is quite pleased with herself. She asks how it is. After a pause, Mamura thanks her. She asks if that’s it. He tells her what else would he say, and it is almost time for them to go. Somewhat disappointed, Suzume thinks that he’s quite cold, could it be that he doesn’t like the gift. Pointing at the side, Suzume tells him that she wants to go to that convenient store to buy some food. While the cashier says that it is 160 yen, Suzume looks out the store to see Mamura using the headphones. Suzume is quite glad that he’s wearing them. Looking at his expression, Suzume thinks that even if she cannot say why, but it seems that Mamura is quite happy. Recalling his answer earlier, Suzume thinks that he could be shy then, fufu, he also has a cute side. The cashier repeats for her to pay 160 yen. Suzume starts wondering what kind of music does Mamura usually listen to, and she doesn’t even know that. Soon, at Tsukiji market, Suzume excitedly kept on shouting, Tsukiji~, Tsukiji~~ Mamura asks if she is a train conductor and that expression of hers is very much the same during Christmas. Suzume exclaims, fish, people, seafood, *fires up like a hero* Tsukiji~~!! [<- I thought it was a Saiyan mode in DBZ but what she calls out is from Saint Seiya.] Mamura tells her to calm down for she’s noisy to death. A store owner calls out to Suzume and tells her that the cuttlefish here is cheap, 1 kg for this price. Sparkling Suzume asks if that is true. Mamura asks her what she is going to do with them, buying that much. [I’m not sure if Suzume did bought 1 kg since they weren’t carrying it, maybe she’ll pick it up again since] Mamura comments that unexpectedly she bought it. Looking at Mamura, Suzume apologizes for being excessively happy. While Mamura is muttering that she has that kind of reaction, Suzume lightly pats his back and tells him to look at that [side]. Then, Suzume notices that Mamura blushes really red. She apologizes and says that just now, she unconsciously did it. She thinks that it is bad for her feelings are really on a high. Suzume tells him that she’ll pay attention and do her best in not touching him. Quiet Mamura is slightly covering his face. Then, a man bumps into Suzume. The man apologizes to her and Suzume says that it is okay. Suzume thinks that there are really a lot of people. To her surprise, Mamura holds her hand and puts it by his coat, near the pocket. Blushing Mamura tells her that during this time, there’s no need to mind that kind of thing. He tells her to hold tight so that she won’t get lost. Suzume is now holding the hem of his coat. Then, he tells her that they’re going. Suzume just says, ah, ya. Looking at Mamura from behind, Suzume thinks that he really grew taller. Then, she looks down and holds tightly on his coat as they keep on walking.

Comment: How to be subtle. That’s the name of the ‘move’ of the suitors. It worked for Togyuu when he asked Yuyuka to go to his house with his alibi of being sick and Yuyuka couldn’t refuse. It seems to be working for Mamura, too since Suzume is/seems to be the only one he invited. As a friend, Suzume cannot refuse since it is his birthday. Luckily for Mamura, Yuyuka decided not to go. And apparently, Yuyuka cannot believe that she has fallen for Togyuu. ^^; Well, this had forced Suzume to choose by herself a birthday gift for Mamura. And being Mamura, he isn’t quite expressive though Suzume seems to be learning to know those ‘seemingly nothing but actually, it is..’ expressions of his since she kind of knows that he likes her gift. Suzume can be quite childish when she’s overly excited. ^^ And, her accidental touch and being bumped by others, gave Mamura another opportunity to have a cute moment with her. ^^ I wonder how things would be in the party itself.
