Miseinen Dakedo Kodomo Janai [Chapter 15]

At a room in Isuzu’s Japanese mansion, Isuzu spread the pictures on the floor and tells Karin of what he learned. Karin 16 and Nao 18 registered their marriage at a certain government registry on June 20, 20XX at 8:12am and Nao got married into her family. At 10:05 am, the wedding ceremony is held at some Holy Maria church. Then, they move to live together at some run down apartment that was built 48 years ago. But the real motive for the marriage is for the Oriyama to have a heir[/successor] and in return for that, they will provide monetary assistance to the Tsuruki family. The husband, Nao, has no feelings for Karin and it is only for him to leave his always quarreling parents. Isuzu puts down a document on the floor regarding the investigation. He scolds Karin for being unbelievably stupid that she got deceived just because of a handsome face and got married while in first year high school. Tightly holding his arm, Isuzu angrily asks why marry this way and unexpectedly with some other guy. He tells her to say something. Karin is depressed because Nao had repeatedly told her to keep it a secret from everyone so what now..she’ll be hated by him. She was happy that her sandwiches had made Nao happy but because Isuzu went ahead and investigated things on his own, everything had gone to waste. Karin is furious at Isuzu then she realizes something. Isuzu is the only one who found out about it so she only has to keep him quiet and it won’t be exposed. Karin happily tells Isuzu to promise not to tell anyone about the marriage. Isuzu quickly says yes. Karin is delighted over this. Holding out her pinkie for a pinkie promise, Karin asks if he really won’t tell anyone. Isuzu says that in exchange, divorce Nao. Karin stops and asks what he is talking about. Isuzu says that this marriage is strange and awful so immediately divorce now. Karin says that if she divorces then there’s totally no meaning in making Isuzu keep it a secret. Isuzu didn’t reply. Karin exclaims that it is impossible and she absolutely won’t divorce. To her shock, Isuzu takes out his prepared flyers to announce that Karin and Nao had married. He tells her that he’ll spread those tomorrow. Karin shouts that she’ll do anything except divorce.

Kneeling and bowing to Isuzu, Karin begs him. This infuriates Isuzu further. He holds her shoulders and calls her an idiot, don’t do this kind of thing which is unlike of her. Teary-eyed Karin looks determined at him. Isuzu tells her to live at his house from today on. Karin asks if he meant for them to live separately. Nao says that she doesn’t have a dependent[/servant] at her side, right? He finds it very strange for both Karin and Nao’s parents to agree to this marriage and as her childhood friend, it cannot be helped. He will first help her keep it a secret so thank him. Karin tries to protest that Isuzu gives the flyers to Wakamatsu who says that he’ll deliver them to all the teachers and students. Karin exclaims no. Isuzu tells her whether it is living separate or divorce, and perhaps, exposing this matter, choose one that she likes. Karin shouts that she doesn’t want to choose any. As Wakamatsu pulls open the door, Isuzu walks out and says that he’ll give her one night to properly think about it. Leaving a flyer with Karin, Isuzu says that if she hasn’t chosen by tomorrow, he’ll start distributing these at school. Karin crumbles the flyer and angrily shouts that Isuzu is an idiot. Isuzu mutters whatever, a loveless marriage, stop kidding around, don’t go back to that guy’s house. Soon, it is already around 8:23pm. Nao is calling Karin’s cellphone but she isn’t answering. He hangs up and wonders why she isn’t picking it up. Since he is already hungry, he decides to eat some instant noodles. He thinks that it isn’t like he is worried about Karin because he’s going to eat..but only Karin should definitely be the first to come home around this time. He recalls Karin would say that she cooked a lot again that Nao reprimanded her that he told her not to cook his share of the food. Karin denied it and said that she is going to eat everything but she was careless and made so much that there will be a lot of leftovers, and that would be such a waste. So, in the end, Nao ended up eating with her. End flashback. Nao eats a mouthful of instant noodles. He mutters that it is strange for it actually tasted bad. He looks at his cellphone and decides to contact Karin again. In the room, Karin reads a message from Nao saying that he is a bit worried so at least let him know if she is okay and he already ate so there’s no need to buy specially for him upon her return. Karin thinks that it is late and Nao is worried about her.

Looking at her missed calls log, Karin thinks that Nao had called so many times and she really wants to immediately consult this with him but she’s quite scared since he is already quite angry when their apartment was discovered [by Isuzu] so if he learns that the marriage has been exposed, he would definitely.. She recalls Nao telling her that he hates her the most. Then, her cellphone rings again. It is her father. She answers it and asks her father what to do, Zuzu did a mean thing.. Nao angrily says, hey, she can actually answer the phone normally so why is she ignoring his calls and emails. Shocked Karin exclaims why he is using her father’s cellphone. Nao says that he is currently at her [main] house. Flashback: Karin’s father is surprised that Nao came suddenly. Nao apologized that he couldn’t contact Karin and he came to see if she went there. Worried, Kazuki decided to also try calling Karin for it is already 10pm. Nao apologized for making him worry. To Nao’s shock, Kazuki told him that he already contacted Karin who is calling out to her father. Kazuki gave Nao the phone. End flashback. Karin apologizes to him. Nao angrily asks where she is and what she is doing right now. Karin couldn’t tell him so Nao says that she just said ‘Zuzu’ so is she together with that guy. Karin won’t answer that Nao angrily calls out her name. Karin shouts that she cannot tell him for he’ll get angry. Nao shouts that he won’t be angry so quickly say it. Karin says that he is obviously already angry and it is because she would definitely be hated by him. Nao sighs and asks if in short, she didn’t get into some sort of accident. Karin says yes. While Karin’s worried parents look on, Nao tells Karin that is great, it is alright, and try telling it to him. Then, he says he understands, so that’s how it is. After he hangs up, Kazuki asks what happened. Returning his phone, Nao says that there is no accident, so don’t worry and right now, it seems that she is at the house of her childhood friend called ‘Zuzu’. Kazuki mutters if it is Isuzu. Nao says that he’ll go there first and if the situation changes, he’ll contact him. Kazuki tells him to please definitely bring Karin back because he is Karin’s husband. Nao says yes and that is what he is planning to do. Using the map on his cellphone, Nao arrives at Isuzu’s place. Outside the gate, Isuzu is already waiting for him.

Comment: Isuzu’s information network is really awesome. That is a very detailed report of Karin’s marriage and even down to Nao’s intention in agreeing to the marriage. How did whoever he sent/hired get to know all of that? It does make me wonder if it was Kazuki, based on his reaction that Karin is with Isuzu. Is that because he is currently worried and tense about Karin or something else? As an outsider, Isuzu’s actions are understandable that he made me think that he’s some sort of overprotective parent. From his view though most probably due to his romantic feelings for her, he doesn’t want Karin to ‘suffer’ a loveless marriage, experience hardship without any servants and become a different person from the Karin he knows/loves. Since she is so infatuated with Nao who ‘deceived her’, Isuzu decides to do things drastically. I wonder if Isuzu is actually serious in carrying out his threat or he is just testing things. He did left her cellphone with Karin so it isn’t like she cannot call for help. And, he is actually waiting for Nao to arrive. Was he tipped off or he was always waiting there to see if Nao would be worried enough to come and get Karin? Most likely, Nao would have to prove to the overprotective childhood friend regarding his true intentions with Karin. And, hopefully, we get to see some concrete progress or confession from Nao =P Scans by all★wink汉化组
