Kobayashi ga Kawai Sugite Tsurai [Chapter 13]

At the shoe lockers, Mego cries as she calls out to her friends. She is still in pain since she likes Aoi but she made  him angry because she lied to him and now, he hates her. She becomes nervous upon seeing Asuza since she knows about the switching secret. To her surprise, Asuza just passes by her. At Akechi Academy, Mogami is staring at Mitsuru and wonders out loud why he seems like a demon to him now, when yesterday, he seems like an angel with wings. Mitsuru thinks that Mogami is unexpectedly sharp. Then, he spots Aoi outside with the cats. Aoi is holding on to the Masamune penguin strap. Mitsuru calls out to him. To Mitsuru’s surprise, Aoi immediately knows that he is Mitsuru, the twin brother. Mitsuru tells him that his younger sister cried upon arriving home. He kneels down to him formally [seiza] and asks Aoi to forgive her for she didn’t do anything wrong since he was the one who got her into this and asked her to switch with him. He confesses that he likes Shino and currently, Shino still thinks that he is Mego and treated him as a reliable best friend.  He doesn’t want a life wherein he cannot see Shino ever again for he always wanted to be at her side to protect her. But, Mego doesn’t want to switch with him again since she said that she doesn’t want to see Aoi again. Aoi is surprised by that. Aoi mutters that he isn’t angry at her..it is only.. He recalls Mego telling him that she wants him to treat him as a boy and can they be friends. Mitsuru asks him what he meant by ‘it is only’ and if he doesn’t hate Mego, what he is thinking. Aoi  asks who ‘Mego’ is. Mitsuru explains that is her nickname from Megumu. He recalls Mego asking him to name the cat that kissed him as Mego and also, how she looked at that time. Mitsuru asks Aoi how come he is blushing. Later on, at the rooftop, Aoi kept on thinking of Mego that he even imagined her coming in and calling out to him. Flustered, he thinks that it has only been a week and her voice is echoing in his ear. Recalling Mitsuru telling him that Mego won’t see him again, Aoi quickly runs off.

Meanwhile, Shino asks listless Mego why she isn’t eat. Upon seeing Shino’s eyes that is similar with Aoi, Mego starts crying since she remembers Aoi. Wiping her tears, Mego apologizes and comments that her eyes are like her brother’s. Shino gestures her thanks to Mego for she’s happy to hear that since people would always say that she and her brother ‘aren’t similar’. Shino ‘asks’ if Mitsuru is doing well because when they go home together, Aoi would always talk about Mitsuru. Mego perks up for it is about her. Flashback: Aoi had told Shino that Mitsuru guy is a good person who would easily cry and smile that while being with him, he finds himself smiling and it is the first time he met that kind of person. Aoi smiled and said that even if he isn’t used to interacting with people but with Mitsuru, he felt that this is quite good. End flashback. Shino ‘tells’ Mego that it is the first time she saw Aoi smiled that way. She asked Mego to tell Mitsuru that she’ll leave her brother to him from here on. She is surprised to see Mego crying. Mego thinks that it is also her first time – her heart beating wildly that it hurts, although happy and in pain that she wants to cry, she definitely won’t meet someone like him again. She doesn’t want to be hated by him and end everything because she has always been lying and never been honest with him. She never sincerely conveyed and said ‘like you’ to him from the real her. She decided that it is okay even if he viciously reject her, she doesn’t want to leave let feelings for Aoi be just a deep regret. Shino is surprised when Mego suddenly slaps her face. Mego stands up and thanks Shino. She tells her friends that she’s going out for a while. They ask where she is going. She shouts that she’s going to say ‘I like you’ to the person she likes very much. While running in the street, Aoi wonders what he is thinking for him to run and see Mego when he obviously couldn’t even touch her and obviously, he might hurt her like this again and perhaps, he’ll only make her cry once again. “But still, I want to see her.  Hoping that this time, to meet you in person.”

After an hour, some scared guys [since he is from Akechi] tell Aoi that Mego left school early on. At Akechi Academy, Mego is shock that Aoi already left. She runs off thinking that she might catch up to him. Then, she trips and falls. While walking at the pedestrian bridge, Mego thinks that in the end, she wasn’t able to see him. Then, she recalls that this is the pedestrian bridge where she met Aoi for the first time. At that time, she didn’t know of his name or appearance, but only that lavender scent and it is definitely starting from that moment, she-- Then, she spots Aoi running below. She calls out to Aoi. Mego is teary-eyed for unexpectedly seeing him again. She apologizes for suddenly calling out to him and he can relax for she won’t go near him again. “There is something that I want to tell you, just give me 5 minutes okay.. Afterwards, I won’t appear in front of you again, so this is the last time, please let me honestly tell you of my feelings!! I’m sorry. I wanted to stay at senpai’s side so I strive hard in suppressing myself and always say some untrue words like ‘please treat me as a guy’ and ‘let’s be friends’. All of that are lies. Actually, I hope that senpai, you can like me as a girl.. I..” Then, a car starts honking loudly. A couple of women say that it is so noisy and there is a person who left the car on the road so there is a traffic jam. While thinking that this is happening while she’s confessing, Mego tries to shout that she likes [Aoi] but the honking is too loud. Aoi doesn’t understand what she’s trying to say and says, “Kobayashi, I..” Mego doesn’t want to give up like this, and even she couldn’t convey using her voice, she’ll tell him of her feelings. Recalling what Mitsuru taught her, Mego uses sign language to say, “I like you. I really, really like you.” Aoi blushes. Narration: “Do you hear me? Do you feel this confession conveyed without voice? Aoi-kun, I really, really, ‘like you’.”
