Kenny, the American actor, called out to Murasame and they did an impromptu sword fight scene. They immediately hit it off but it was abruptly interrupted when Cedric’s friend who looked menacing at Kenny. Kenny immediately went to back to the side of the US actors but managed to give his email to Murasame through Kyouko.
This incident was discussed by Kyouko and Kanae when Kanae was doing a costume fitting. There is a side issue about Kyouko being mistaken for a middle school student. For the next costume fitting, Kyouko was forbidden from joining Kanae by the tailor. He told her that actors are the only ones allowed inside.

Later on, Kyouko is bored out of her mind while waiting that she is doing some exercises. After some computations of the time zone, she tries to fight the temptation to call Ren to ask about what he has been eating especially since he is now alone. She ends up calling but tries to hang up. Unfortunately for her, Ren had already answered it.
While talking with Ren regarding his eating, Kyouko senses something different from usual. Ren’s current tone of voice reminds her a bit of Corn. Kyouko hears the sound of waves that she asked him where he is. Ren declined to tell her by saying that it is confidential. When Ren asked Kyouko how was the current situation at her side, she replied that it is complicated and he’ll know when he arrives.
Ren seems to already know what it could be. Kyouko mentioned that everyone is eagerly waiting for his arrival tomorrow. After they hanged up, it turned out that Ren had visited Rick’s grave and was holding Corn the rock. There was a scene at the fitting area wherein Cedric’s friend looking smugly at the displeased tailor.

Comment: It is obvious that Cedric’s group are deliberately isolating the Japanese actors from the US actors. I’m not sure what is the purpose of it though aside from being racist/looking down on them. Maybe he wanted to force the producers to fire the Japanese and hire all US actors?
Now, I would assume that Cedric has a lot of power in showbiz because all these actors and even staff are forced to do what he wanted. Maybe he can make them lose their jobs, get cancelled or whatever. If Cedric has been doing this type of thing since he was young, I guess he knew that he can get away with it.
I think the Japanese actors can handle that well for now since they are adults and there are many of them. It would have been hard for a young boy like Kuon before. I would assume that those kind of tactics didn’t exactly work since Cedric had to resort to violence.

During the phone call, I guess it is showing that Ren is somehow unconsciously slipping that he is letting a bit of Corn out. Maybe because of his current appearance or that he is at Rick’s grave. The call also helps Ren know that Cedric hasn’t changed at all. I do wonder if Cedric can recognize him and what kind of persona/acting Ren might use to conceal, if he plans to, his real identity.
Hopefully, we can see something more exciting and eventful scenes + developments in the upcoming chapters since these past few ones is a setting up of what is the current situation and what are they up against. And, with their son in close proximity, I wonder if Kuon’s parents especially the mother can still resist checking up on him personally even if it is just a glimpse.

ReplyDeleteI honestly didn't think Cedric is such a petty man, but I guess it is how it is. Ah speaking of Kuu and Sarah, I also like the prospect of them meeting Kyouko. We still yet to know how Kyouko will get into the Project though. I mean, clearly Leonard knows what she is capable of so there should be plenty of ways, but so far no chance for that has arisen. Yeah I think this two prospects excite me most, either Kuon's (both Kuon) reunion with Kuu and Juli, and then when Kyouko is getting into the Project.

ah you think so? I was kinda thinking of Setsu-like setup in which her character added midway. I mean Kuresaki did give her peculiar assignment during the mock shot didn't he.
DeleteI only look at reddit nowadays since it seems nobody is doing Skip Beat scanlation for whatever reason, and they seemed to share the raws rather quickly , although nobody seemed to be working on it per regular basis. I think it's kinda fine as far as Skip Beat is concerned because the release rate is slow lol. And it's kinda nostalgic cause I also come here first time was when no scanlation was release. I mean, you always find something and add more nuance to what I have read, but reading your summary when I have little idea of what the chapter was about is a unique experience in and of itself and I don't dislike it.
It's possible though the excuse was they needed 'extras' for the mock shoot. I'm thinking that she is a potential sub. Hehe, maybe if they are expecting some mishap to happen since Cedric is involved. Somehow, I'm sure they know what kind of person Cedric is.
DeleteIt is strange though that they are already fitting the costumes instead of practicing with their American counterparts. ^^; Well, maybe they are waiting for everyone to be complete = Ren to arrive?
Anyway, if this is one of the final arcs, I think that somehow the author will make Kyouko act together with Ren in that show.
I also check it at reddit. It's the same in the Chinese baidu site. They are fast in sharing the raws but almost none scanlations. I wonder if there is a strong copyright thing going on with it or people are just not too invested in scanlating it like before.
Indeed, the release is slow and the pages are quite few that almost nothing much is happening. Well, since Ren is now in the US, maybe things will start happening especially if they all meet up. Then, there also a possibility of Shou showing up.
