Narration: “After I and Her Majesty officially
declared it during the banquet, it had resulted to confusion and suspicion
among the audience.” In his room, Louis changes into his day clothes.
Downstairs, a newspaper boy tosses papers
around and shouts, “Extra, extra! Her Majesty the Queen had officially declared
her love!” Narration: “The rumors is like the autumn wind that rapidly spread
throughout the kingdom. Louis January, that Casanova, had seduced the queen.”
Some people look at Louis as he passes by.
Louis stops and looks at his reflection on the window. He smiles and wipes away
his face that used to have a scar. And, he continues to walk through the streets.
Narration: “Ah ah, not bad. This kind of
feeling wherein a lot of people are paying attention to me. Jealousy. Despised.
[by men] And also, curiosity— [from women]. Look at me as much as you please—
‘The queen’s man’ Louis January!”
He arrives at the palace gate and greets
the guard. The guard salutes and informs him that there are guests waiting to see
him at the reception room. This surprises Louis. At the reception room, he sees
four men inside. One of the men says that it is really a great honor to be able
to see him.
They introduce themselves as Baron
Voorhugang [bald], Viscount Paul [ponytail], Baron Gilul [moustache] and
Mikhail [curly hair]. Gilul says that his declaration during the banquet is
quite impressive that it fascinated him.
Louis nervously says no, no, what’s up for
them to be here so suddenly... One of them suddenly puts something on his hand.
Louis is surprised for it is a small sparkling chest. Louis asks why he is
giving him this precious item. Holding a pouch, Gilul tells him not to be shy.
Paul says that they simply wanted to give
him a gift for meeting each other for first time. They assure him that is all
there is to it. Louis protests. Voorhugang apologizes for startling him. While
they nervously look at each other, they apologize for being rude. Louis smiles
and says it’s alright, he doesn’t mind.
Quickly putting the chest into his pocket,
Louis says that it is definitely some sort of fate that they are brought here
together. The four men are surprised by the reaction. They quickly made him sit
and says that is indeed the principle. While Mikhail brings some food, they
suggest that they take their time to have a chat.
Later on, while walking up the stairs,
Louis look at a gem in the light. He is amused since he didn’t think that he
can easily attain this kind of things by being the queen’s lover.
Then, he sees Marion looking at him on top
of the stairs. He greets her a good morning. She quickly walks away. Holding
the gem tightly, Louis thinks that of course, he’ll also lose something.
In a room, Eyde is practicing her walk with
a book on her head. A couple of maids watches her. Louis enters and apologizes
for making her wait. Upon seeing him, Eyde sparklingly welcomes him back.
She puts her arms on his shoulders and says
that they quickly start the lesson. “I’ve been waiting for you for such a long
time.” Louis laughs and says, really, Your Majesty.
After the maids left, the two’s smiling
face freeze. Eyde quickly shoves Louis’ chin for him to move away from her.
Holding his chin, Louis says that it was obviously such a good ambiance. “This
is an acting lesson.”
Shoving a newspaper to him, Eyde tells him
to shut up and look at this in detail. While Louis reads the newspaper, Eyde
complains that after the relationship has been publicized, compared to her
being the ruler, everyone’s attention is all focused on him.
Louis nervously thinks that it is lucky
that his glorious history isn’t published. Eyde says that they think that she
isn’t capable of being a ruler since she is a naive girl who simply thinks of
romance every day. Louis asks if she really hates it.
Eyde says that even if she doesn’t quite
like it but it isn’t bad. “Making the three ministers think that I’m an
incapable ruler who is engrossed with romance— That is also my anticipated
result...
...While everyone is paying attention to
you, I’ll have more time and opportunity to regain the royal power. *looks at
Louis* You better be a bit careful. It’s highly possible that the three
ministers will send someone to target and dispose of you. That group of old men
really hates you so pay a lot of attention to your safety.”
Louis laughs about those old men daring to
dispose of him who has attained the queen’s love. He thinks actually, that old
man is his backer. He tells Eyde that compared to him, it is better that she
pays more attention to herself.
This puzzles Eyde. He tells her that even
if the banquet was interrupted midway, but the goal was successfully completed.
Eyde screams in surprise and asks, goal!?
Louis says that even if a mistake was
committed [Eyde caught off guard by Oberto?] but from today onwards, their
meetings will also double. So in the future, when they encounter problems, they
should properly discuss it together.” This surprises Eyde.
Later on, Louis stretches as he leaves the
palace. Someone calls out to him. It is Mikhail standing behind a carriage. He
asks if Louis is going home right now.
Louis tries to recall who he is. He shakes
his hand and says, ah, Michael. Mikhail corrects him and says that if he
doesn’t have anything to do, how about going to his place. “Lately, I have
found a really good place [/store to eat].”
Inside the carriage, a woman knocks on the
window to call Louis’ attention. She waves at Louis and introduces herself as Mirena.
She says that he looks better than the rumors describe him. Louis thinks, eh,
this scent...
Mikhail says that she is his younger sister.
“After she heard that I’m going to see you, she kept on pestering me to
introduce her to you.” Louis says about that...if it is heterosexual type of...
“Don’t look at Her Majesty like that, her jealousy is actually very serious.
(even if I really wanted to go).”
Mikhail exclaims in surprise then whispers
to him that of course, he won’t tell Her Majesty. “Relax. Relax. I’ll keep it a
secret.” Louis wonders what to do though actually, he is quite bothered by Mirena’s
scent. He says okay, let’s go. This delights Mikhail.
Soon, the carriage arrived at some deserted
town area. After they got off, at an alley, Mikhail tells them to please wait a
moment. He informs them that this place is his real estate. Giving them a
thumbs up, Mikhail says it might take a long time. Louis and Mirena look at
each other. After Mikhail left, Mirena is surprised when he suddenly pushes her
to the wall.
Mirena nervously asks if it is a bit too
quick. He asks if she really hates it. “If you hate it, then forget about it.”
This surprised her. She quickly grabs his wrist and made his hand hold her
chest. She says [she] totally [does] not [hate it].
Louis leans to her and holds the ribbon on
her neck. He asks, “Mirena, what’s your name? *pulls the ribbon which reveals a
large bruise on her neck* your real name.” After looking surprised, Mirena asks
him what is he saying.
Louis thinks these intoxicated eyes, bruise
on the body and also this vanilla-like scent [/[plants] which the red light
district exclusively has… “This lady isn’t a noble’s daughter rather, she is
a... prostitute. Depending on seducing people in order to survive. She’s the
same type as I--”
Mirena is surprised when Louis ties the
ribbon back on her neck. He says, “Even if I don’t know why you are concealing
your identity but if someone is threatening you, then tell me. I’ll help you.” Mirena
asks, help her, why would he help a person like her. He smiles and says, don’t
[ask] why.
Mirena holds her ribbon and says that she
thinks that she already knows why the queen got attracted to him. Turning to
leave, Mirena tells him to quickly run away. Louis asks why. Mirena says that
man isn’t her brother. “I’m a prostitute whom he took care of. That person
wants to kill you so quickly run away, okay.”
While Louis looks tense, someone calls out
hey! This surprises the two. Mikhail arrives with two minions. Mikhail says,
“My younger sister. It wasn’t easy for me to make you a noblewoman. Capture
them!”
The minions dash towards the two. Grabbing Mirena,
Louis shout for her to go to this side. Mirena shouts for him to let her go.
Louis tells her that in a night filled with love, running away is the best! “As
long as we run to a place where there are a lot of people--”
As they turn to the corner, they are in a
dead end. Louis thinks that he forgot that from the very start, this place is a
dead end. Mikhail asks if he thought that he is such an idiot like him.
While a hooded figure watches from the
roof, Louis starts to think about possibly dying in this place in this way. He
closes his eyes as one of the minions approach them with a knife. Mikahil tells
Louis not to forget his own position in the next life.
Suddenly, the hooded person jumps down from
the roof and stabs the minion going to kill Louis. Louis is stunned as the
blood splatters on his face. He wonders who is it. Mikhail exclaims the same
question.
Minion 2 dashes toward the hooded person
who quickly stabs him with his black sword. Mikhail shouts to kill them. He is
about to take his weapon from his pocket but the hooded figure is too fast and
quickly slashed him down.
While Louis is stunned and Mirena is
horrified, the hooded man says, “As the queen’s lover, please be a lot more
careful, Louis. Every night, pray that the people who want you dead will pile
up to the mountain like that side. Ah, I got careless. *removing his hood* I’m
Lennon Johannes who was send by Oberto to become your bodyguard.”
Louis thinks that Lennon looks so familiar.
“It seems that I have seen him somewhere...?” Holding out his hand to shake
hands, Louis says that this time, he is really thankful to him... Louis is
puzzled when smiling Lennon holds out his hand towards Mirena.
To their surprise, Lennon starts to
strangle Mirena. Slapping his hand away, Louis shouts what he is doing. Lennon
asks the question back at him. “That woman had sold you out. How come you are
helping this person? Killing her is inevitable, right?”
While holding Mirena who is coughing, Louis
says, “Let me say, Mr. Lennon, as my bodyguard who’ll protect me, there’s no
need for you to be responsible for the other things. *looks at Lennon*...
...Even if I have snatched away so many
women, but I don’t remember about me snatching away other things. If you want
to kill this lady, then, please kill me first.” Louis nervously looks at Lennon
who smirks at him.
Meanwhile, Eyde is in her study when some
maids tell her that the guests have arrived. While they escort her through the
hallway, Eyde tells the maids that they’ll talk about something very important
so they are to wait here. The maids say that they understand.
Taking a candle, Eyde walks by herself.
Then, someone holds out one’s hands from behind Eyde and covers her mouth. Eyde
is pulled to the side. The dropped burnt out candle is left on the empty dark
hallway’s floor.
Comment: From this chapter, we can see two types of people who are
approaching Louis due to his new found fame/position. First, it is the
opportunists who wanted to gain his trust and favor so that later on, most
likely, he’ll return the favor if the price is right.
The second one are those who want to gain
his trust and when he put his guard down, they’ll get rid of him. The first
kind is actually better since they don’t have nothing to lose. The stuff they
gave him are most likely loose change.
If they knew of Louis background, it is the
preferred approach especially if they’ll need something from the queen. The
second approach is risky with only one side will benefit but then, the pest
will be gone forever. Mikhail would have succeeded if Lennon isn’t around.
And, we have a new character...an
assassin-type. He’ll be very useful to Louis especially since Louis doesn’t
have fighting skills. So, it will be like Lennon will get rid of those whom
Louis cannot charm his way out or perhaps, outsmart. ^^;
I guess even if Louis does play with women
and leech on them to survive, he still has a soft spot for them. He didn’t take
advantage of Eyde when she was sleeping then. Now, since Mirena is similar to
his former way of life and perhaps, since she warned him, he saved her life
even if it is practical to kill her like how Lennon views it. Scans by 鴿子漢化组
