I guess because Suwa became a 'good guy', the mangaka needs an antagonist for the story?
It was? For me, Namai is the easiest since it is 'ordinary modern days'-type. Skip beat is more on acting and previously about samurai-s. Akatsuki is fantasy. The latter two would use terms that are difficult to translate since it isn't commonly used. Of course, they might mean...ah, scanlating it is more difficult rather than translating. ^^;

The guy in the first pages seems to be Shizuka's brother. I don't know what Kira is telling Shizuka but he confessed to Kira about doing some lewd thing during the training camp. Kira is smirking/snorting.
This made Shizuka mention about talking everyday, seeing and invitation/being enticed? I don't know what Kira said but I get the impression that he is hinting that it isn't definite whom Yuki will get married to.
I guess that is what Shizuka is stressing about when Fuuka passed by. She told him something like not running away or he'll absolutely regret it, gotta have courage. Courage! Hehe, that is kinda funny. ^^; And more stress for Shizuka.
He calmed down after that talk with Yuki + Shou. Probably about winning the practice game. During the game, the coach observed something and mentioned Shou's name. Something about the first years this year...
I have no idea what he told her during the hug. I tried googling the last part, it seems to be I'm only looking at Machida. Hm...thinking of context, I would ASSUME that because of her, he snap out of his confusion and got serious playing. She talked something about everyone's else contributing? So he said, he is only looking at her?
I think the mangaka is aiming for some sort of closure for Shizuka or rather, comedy/bit of drama for the confused on whether to give up or not.

Then, here comes so-in-love girl who's blurting things out like don't regret, don't run away and have courage... Of course for the girl, that is about confession and well, whatever happened to the previous chapter. So, it is like, he didn't wanted to do something bad but the people around him is urging him to do it.

Honestly, I don't know what to think of it. It cannot be something about love and stuff since it would be out of character. Perhaps, admiration like how she goes 'wow' when Shou is playing great in basketball? Is it about making eye contact? ^^;
I guess I'm not overthinking it because deep down, I know that they'll end up together and most likely not break up over anything even if there are times when they seem to be. Somehow, it is like a pattern with the other scenarios before...it seems that things are so bad then, in 1-2 chapters, it is quickly resolved. It wasn't as bad as we presumed it to be.
I don't get the impression that things are worsening like Shou is getting fed up with her. Anyway, it seems that the focus will go back to basketball.

Yup, it isn't normal. The thing is, it/hugs seems normal for the story and its characters as if it was nothing especially if we based it on their reaction to the kiss.
True, so I'm wondering if the Jap readers like that kind of scenario or the mangaka is running out of ideas for the story but couldn't stop since it is selling well.

DeleteI think it is erratic/inconsistent. He knows that he shouldn't do it. Usually after such scenes, he goes on a guilt trip especially during high school. So, it makes me think that it is out of impulse. Like doing something that feels good and regrets it later on.

As I mentioned to Mary above, I'm guessing that it is either this kind of scenario sells in Japan or the mangaka is running out of story but wants to continue the series because it is selling.
I mean, Shizuka isn't exactly a villain. He is even making it on the covers. Actually, that gave Suwa away before...I thought, the mangaka isn't going to make this guy a villain who'll steal Yuki. Even if Shizuka is doing all that stuff, he isn't really a threat.
So, I'm thinking that the mangaka is making him do those hugs and stuff just for the plot/cliffhangers...agitate readers? Somehow, iirc, these kind of scenario became more frequent when they got in college...rather, when Suwa 'backed out' because of Fuuka, it seems like Shizuka took over that 'role'. So, I get the impression that it is for plot purposes.
Hakamada reached a point where he doesn't give a f*ck about anyone! He just, causally, hugged Yuki like it's nothing. He hugged her as if she's already his girlfriend!! He didn't use to be like this. He used to always regret it and back out, but now he doubles down and flirts with her casually!! And I would, partially, blame Yuki and Shou here. If there is a guy that you don't want him to hug you or kiss you, as if you're his own, be more careful and, especially, don't be alone with him. And for Shou, if you know that he already kissed your girlfriend, don't just look at it from afar and get angry over it. STEP IN and stop it before it gets messy!

DeleteSomehow, I think it is a bit out of character but that is how the mangaka wants to portray him lately. I'm kind of thinking that he is somewhat stepping on what was Suwa's previous role. Like, that was Suwa's role but it cannot be pulled off anymore since he is going to be paired with Fuuka. But, the mangaka still wants to pursue that kind of plot so Shizuka is the replacement. ^^;;

It's clearly that Hakamada has 0 respect for Naruse. Therefore, it all lies on Yuki, who should stand up and knee him in the privates very hard. By doing that, it will give us the readers satisfaction, but also a strong and painful message to Hakamada, the perpetual molester.

I can easily get that from the manga, Shou never been that hateful on him, and idk like won't be that angry on him,..like protects him. But hakamada not. And that's because he still feels inferior towards Shou. (Since childhood)
It's been always like that, Shou always the one who cheers him up (in childhood. When he was asked to be a captain, ch86 here, etc..) but he isn't realizing that For the a known reasons. (and always think it's Yuki). Or more he doesn't want to admit it (like he said before)
The mangaka is playing that kind of plot, a mature plot, I mean it seems like she's unfair on Shou but that's not really true. It's just that: she's going open for hakamada and secretly for Shou (mature plot). so I personally, really love and appreciate how she is going on on Shou. (Being hard on him rather than makes things easy for him. "Being hard on someone means that you care about them")
The moment when hakamada admit himself to Shou, this stuff most likely will solve.
You know, to me hakamada look like a child beside Shou. Like Shou already set up his life, but hakamada no, so he's bothering him every time. The one who is always searching for problems is hakamada. .. being a weak person would make you like that.
Shou is always the better, who won't stand down to his level. But hakamada is that inferior weak guy in between the two male friends couple. We see like that thing a lot in manga. And in real life as well..
So for resuming, you can't imagine how much I got disappointed on hakamada and how i completely hate him now coz he hugged Yuki this time, On how Shou was manly nice and trusty with him but he been so coward and unworthy.

ReplyDeleteBut here is the wrong: the mangaka is using Yuki (treatment/reaction) to Eases what hakamada is doing (did) .. normally that won't be a girl behavior after what happened (and even before) .. normally you'd be angry at him (maybe even hate him) and ofc distance him (at least for the now) .. so the mangaka is being very unrealistic. She's misleading the readers, be like: "Yuki is treating him normally, she's not angre, etc. So maybe what he's doing isn't wrong" .. TBH that's so frustrating. (All authors do the same tho)
In Namaikizakari hakamada has been always saying and doing what he wants. and never pointed out as wrongs. but more, he'd be victimized, and excused.
He never apologized, but he'd be the one bursting out on shou.
Every time he does something, he'd end up dozing it more, and not correcting it (cut it) .. she'd irritate us more (we never got satisfied on him.)
It's so frustrating, for an old woman to show that stealing someone else's partner as "not giving up on your love and fight for it. Something impressive". To show that it's not wrong to kiss and hug other people's partners "because you love them" .... I always thought what do the Japanese authors want to prove by such things but I failed.
I just hope, hakamada will get punished for all what he did up until now. Or at least he'll/it'll point out that he is wrong.

Namaikizakari got popular and extended from a prototype. Then from chapter 1, 2, 3. Where hakamada didn't even exist. And then it continued from volume 1 where hakamada didn't exist as well.
So All what I can think of, is that Japanese authors are weird. That's what I got from reading manga.
To me, the morals he already lost them, since he seriously and actively trying to steal someone else's Girlfriend. About Yuki, he definitely can't steal her. About basketball, Shou definitely won't stay like that.
In chapter 86, he couldn't keep up in the game and they were losing, until shou got in. But now she made him in the bench. I just feel that this author is Contradictory. She always makes (solves) things then back down on them.

I just stumbled upon this manga a few days ago and went marathon reading it for 2 days @_@ haha, for the reason I really find the main characters (yuki and shou) refreshing, funny and well, refreshing compared to other shoujo mangas. I also did a quick reading for the comments here as well, and agreed on some your frustrations.
ReplyDeleteWhat I am guessing or at least what I tried to chug down my reasoning why Yuki was acting that way to hakamada and suwa on the latest chapters despite of her supposedly tough attitude was that the 2 guys were initially nice and kind to her that is why she puts her guard down, unlike shou who was bluntly expressing his intentions from day 1. Since she has no experience and has an attitude of taking care of others, she basically gets taken advantage of.
What disappointed me big time was aside from the repetitive problems and scenarios, repetitive taking advantage of, repetitive being hugged and worst kissed, Yuki was not learning. She is disregarding Shou's advise, welcomes the advances, not violently reacting like she did with Shou and even contemplated to hide it from Shou *cringing*.
I also have a very soft spot for hot, loyal guys that forgives and understands her abnormal girlfriend just for the heck of it, moreso knowing she had been touched by the very guys he already warned her to avoid. Was thinking, was this manga supposedly tagged as TRAGEDY? Lol😃. Cuz thats what I am seeing, a tragedy love affair and martyrdom for our Shou, which BTW if continues, I will totally drop this manga. Big LOL.
Anyway I just pray the author comes to her senses to make up for the readers and think about quality instead of money. 🤔

This author is pretty horrible at writing characters. 95 chapters ( I guess like only 60-70 since that hakamada became an issue tho) and Yuki still hasn't distanced herself from the guy that continues to try and get close to her. Yaa i think so. for me I felt that she's hinting something since chapter 90, when Shou said those words + proposal, Hehe.
But fans instead of being fully happy about the ring they're actually sad thinking it may end soon, haha. For me I didn't get the impression that it is so I'm not sad, hehe.
For me, I think the mangaka is playing around. I notice that every time there is anything related to Shizuka happens or a crisis, it was easily resolved afterwards then one or few lovey-dovey chapters to make the readers feel that everything is okay....until it happens again.
DeleteThe flow fails for me. A lot of people are agitated because of those Yuki-Shizuka scenes in 94 then boom, a ring in 95. A roller coaster of emotions. I'm not fond of it.
So, will a ring make Shizuka realize that it is hopeless? Or, will he react like how he did with the hickey?

Also it seems that Shou turned to a demon of practice, haha. Several days passed since the practice game and he has been always practicing alone until 9mp. So he got so exhausted. And Yuki got worry about him, so she invited him for a date to help him relax. Like how he did for her during her entrance exam. Hehe 😍 (also I got that she missed him since they weren't lovey-dovey cuz He's busy, hehe)

The problem here is that this arc has already been done and redone, it should've been over for a long time already; now it just feels like the author has no clue what to do next. Hakamada became a totally pathetic character that only serves to further the "plot" in a really forced way.
ReplyDeleteAnd the worst part is that it's even affecting the other characters in a horrible way, Machida becomes a weak girl and Naruse becomes a brooding boyfriend the whole time. The main characters are being forced into inconsistency because of this badly written love triangle that doesn't end.
And Let's be real here, if a real man did the things Hakamada has been doing in these latest chapters, he would be a total creep and a real assho**.

First, yuki has to be worthy of redeeming herself which for me she is not right now...making your BF compete over you with someone who just randomly confessed to you is not ok and it definitely shows that this relationship is sustained by Naruse´s efforts and hard work...i´d just never want to be with someone who makes you feel like you have to prove yourself over and over again because that would be so damn tiring!

Kira seems to be more on hinting things and make Shizuka figure it out himself. With Yuki before, it helps when someone is suddenly persistently courting.
Actually, I have a problem with this line 'Never mind I'll find someone like you'. Isn't that like displaced emotions? Passing that love for her to someone else = similar to her. ^^;

DeleteI don't think that it's easy. And you're right! Having a friend to talk to is a lot more helpful. But I think music can help as well. Just like working out or studying, people listen to music to get bumped up or to be more focused. The same thing applies here. Listening to something that would give you the extra push.
Hmm...when I listen to that line, I think about 'finding someone as good for me as you' or 'someone that I can love as much as I loved you'.

And the most thing I hate in him is that he can't be happy for Yuki, I mean she is happy.. she found the one for her..,. she gets happy for him, congrats him, but he never did that .., just like now, that Naruse gave her a ring I know he won't congrat her .. don't tell me anything. he's just very despicable to me.

DeleteYa...I thought it was like that after the first confession but the mangaka decided to go this way so... Who knows...maybe that will be the mangaka's 'excuse/reason' for him to finally give up.
The reason why the author always pull up quickly with sweet chapters/scenes after bad chapters aside from the reason Mary scent mentioned above is also to reduce/ease off hakamada's behaviors/advances.

ReplyDeleteWhy would you write your MC this way. She comes across as not likeable when she let's this happen, when she has a boyfriend. Makes you wonder if the MC is a self insert of the mangaka (who's female) and because of that every male character needs to be in love with the MC and the mangaka is unaware that the MC's behavior makes her come across as likeable.

DeleteWell, Japanese readers can write to the mangaka so I wonder, do they dislike those scenes, too? If so and the mangaka keeps it up, that is bad in the long run.
This is my fav manga but the problem is there are two sides to it. 1/ There's some gorgeous personalities with a great vanilla relationship whose interactions are always good for a laugh or an "awwww" or both. 2/ And then there's some kind of run-of-the-mill rivals, complications and angst. I keep hoping that we'll see more character-driven comedy and touching moments, but the mangaka, or maybe the editor, seems to think it's not OK to have those unless you've waded through some overdone complications to get there. God, those two are together, they're in love, they're solid--why cant they ever have any fun?!
