Kanojo wa Uso wo Aishisugiteru [Chapter 62]

Sou tells Reiko that because she is his friend so he cannot let her cry alone and he will accompany her. Crying Reiko asks him to quickly come. After hanging up, Sou tells his friends that he’ll go ahead. Yuu exclaims wait, for it will be bad if he goes alone. Sou is puzzled. Pointing at him, Yuu says that he’ll be charmed by her. This made Sou burst into laughter and says no way. Riko says no, he is charmed by her. Sou looks surprised. With folded arms, Yuu says that it is because right now, he is super cool. “As your friend, I firmly oppose that Terada become your first love! *angrily points to self* So, I’m also coming with you!” While Sou is in disbelief, Yuu puts his arm around Sou and lead him away. Meanwhile, at the radio station of J-Wave 81-3FM, everyone is exchanging the ‘good work greetings’ except Shibaken who is grumpily looking at his Iphone. He asks his manager that once exchanging contact number with a senpai, shouldn’t the kouhai immediately sent back a message. The manager says that even if it is like that, if the kouhai is not interested, then it is possible that she won’t send a message.
Removing the headphones from his neck, Shibaken asks what is called not interested. The managers says like, not quite like.. Shibaken mutters that is impossible, absolutely impossible (because I am Shibaken). One of the staff member says that he thinks that it is possible that the kouhai has apprehensions so she cannot just send a message to him on her own. Standing up, Shibaken points at the guy and exclaims that what he said is right. He thinks that for a small fry, he is simply an existence that is too high to reach that just sending a LINE [internet messaging app], she is endlessly stirred up. He mutters that it cannot be helped, he’ll send a message first to her. Back at Budokan, Shun hugs Aki then puts his arm around Aki. Shun tells him that they have a drink. Aki tells him that he should prepare for tomorrow by going home early. Acting spoiled, Shun says that he cannot sleep without a drink. Aki agrees but he tells them to go ahead first, he’ll join them in a while. Shun is about to tell him something but Aki says that he’ll send him off. [<- ah, probably go with him home since he cannot drive after drinking?] While Riko fixes her bag, she recalls Kyoko saying that she will have to choose between music and friendship, and Shibaken saying that he cannot see her awareness. [<- the Shibaken one contradicts with the last translation. ^^; So, let’s just say that this one is correct so Riko is asking for his help because of what he said.]
Riko gets flustered. She exclaims that she had enough, this baffling worrying herself, she has enough of it. She taps her shoe and starts singing, “What a girl, like poisoned mushroom! I’m so addicted that I couldn’t free myself from always smiling like this. What a boy, like vulnerable cherry!” As she starts to kick off her shoes to dance around, the staff members outside say that Mush is singing quite lively and the voice is so amazing. Riko starts singing, jumping and dancing on the sofa. Just when she is doing some air guitar on top of the table and sofa, Shinya comes in the room. He is surprised to see equally surprised Riko. Looking really embarrassed, Riko immediately sits down and says about just now, it is just singing a bit of rock n’ roll to make her feel good. Looking at him, she tells him that just now, pretend that he didn’t see.. She is surprised when Shinya looks depressed. He mutters that in the end, when she is singing Aki’s song, it is more.. Riko calls out to Shinya that he apologizes and says that he only wanted to greet her before he heads home.
Just then, Aki burst into the room and exclaims that he heard that Riko is singing in the dressing room. “Eh? You’re not singing anymore!? Why!?” Riko looks away and says that today’s song has already been sung. Aki whines that she’s too mean, and cunning for Shinya has heard it. Sitting beside Riko, Aki asks her to sing but Riko refuses. While the two continue on Aki wanting her to sing and Riko doesn’t want to, flustered Shinya quietly leaves the room. Clapping his hands, Aki asks her to sing one more time. Riko laughs and says that she won’t sing one more time. Aki exclaims that isn’t it a performer’s job to respond to a request for an encore. Riko says that didn’t she say that today’s [concert] performance is over. They were interrupted when her cellphone rings. Riko says that it is a LINE from Shibaken. Aki asks how come Shibaken would send her a message. She tells him that during today’s greeting, they exchange contact information. He asks why they did that. She says that Shibaken told her that he can give her guidance. After looking speechless, Aki says that she can go to him to talk about that, why would she go to Shibaken. Riko says that it is because she doesn’t want to discuss work with him. Aki thinks that it is this annoying topic again.
Aki mentions of the possibility that Shibaken likes her. Riko goes huh~~because it is that Shibaken, how is it possible that he’ll like her. Aki says that she is Riko, and it is very possible. This made Riko blush. Then, she mutters, “Stupid boyfriend. [coz he’s] Not [a] stupid parent” Flustered Aki says that okay, even if he’s stupid, he is also worried. At the radio station, Shibaken stares at his message, ‘it is okay, there’s no need for you to be apprehensive in contacting me.’ Looking at the time, 23:34, he excitedly waits for a reply. Then he starts waving his Iphone around. His manager asks what he is doing for it is almost time to leave. Shibaken says that it is nothing, he is thinking that the signal here isn’t good. His manager looks at his own phone and says that his signal is full. Muttering ‘good for nothing’, Shibaken sends a message again, ‘A senpai is giving you a message, so immediately answer! This is showbiz world’s common sense!!” Message sent at 23:38. Then, Riko sends in an onion ‘I’m sorry’ sticker [/emoticon]. Shibaken stares at it and asks out loud if that’s it, nothing more. He replies to Riko that it is forbidden to use a sticker, sent at 23:44.
After staring at his cellphone, glum Shibaken asks his manager what it means if the other party would only use a sticker in replying after he sent a message in LINE. And then, he replied, ‘you’re forbidden to use a sticker!’ but after it is shown that it has been read [by Riko], there was no reply. What’s going on with that? The manager mutters that the other party hates it-type of thing. Shibaken stares at his cellphone and thinks that is impossible. The staff member says that it is possible that it is because after thinking it over a lot, the other party doesn’t know what to answer. Standing up, Shibaken points to the staff member and shouts, correct! The staff member says that it is because the other party is Shibaken so in replying, one must trend lightly. Shibaken says is that so, he really cannot do anything about her, so she is a small fry.. Shibaken replies, ‘Since you’ll spend a lot of time answering, then, I specially allow you to only use stickers.’ Riko replies with a teary-eyed onion saying thank you very much. Shibaken mutters that even if he said whatever sticker doesn’t matter but why doesn’t she send a cuter sticker.. He touches the onion sticker and got directed to the page that sells those inarticulate onion sprite stickers. He says that except for her, no one will definitely buy these weird stickers. He smiles and says that he really cannot stand it, he’ll also buy it.
Back at Budokan, the couple looks at Riko’s cellphone. Aki points at her cellphone and exclaims that is absolutely abnormal. This irks Riko that she stands up and says, geez, he’s too noisy. She tells him that she has no way of answering and see, she made Shibaken angry. Following her, Aki says that it is stranger that he is angry. “That guy absolutely likes you, Riko! He’s into you!!” Riko stops walking and angrily glares at Aki who was startled by it. Riko goes towards him and Aki backs away until he is cornered on the wall. Riko angrily puts her foot on the wall and says, “What does it have to do [with them]?” Aki says that it definitely has something to do [with them], for he is her boyfriend so of course he minds it. Riko replies, “The one I like is you, Ogawara, *looks at him and blushes* Even if other people likes me, that has nothing to do with me.” Riko blushes really red. He smiles, holds her faces and kisses her. After the kiss, Aki shouts that in the end, he still minds it.
Inside his car at Budokan’s parking lot, Shinya listens to the CD music that Aki made for Riko. He remembers being told that singing that song make one become happy and Yuu said that it is better than ‘Tomorrow Still’. Shinya says that it would be good if he didn’t listen to this song. He is startled when Soichiro suddenly opens the car door and sits on the front passenger seat. After saying ‘Otsukaresama’ [/good work], Soichiro immediately notices the music playing and sees that the title is ‘For Rico’ playing on the car’s music player. Shinya sighs. Soichiro says that he heard Mush&Co’s second single didn’t work out [/got delayed]. Shinya didn’t answer. Soichiro says that it isn’t reassuring if they didn’t release again. He looks at somewhat flustered Shinya and asks what he plans on doing. To Shinya’s surprise, Soichiro claims that it doesn’t matter to him. Knocking the player with his finger, Soichiro says, “Whether it is Aki’s song, or your song, it is fine as long as it sells. *lights up a cigarette* Before next week’s Friday, I’ll wait for your answer.” Surprised Shinya asks, “..do you mean.. (‘Mean that although it is only 1%, it is also possible? It means even if it is just that one bit, you also believe that I can write a better song than Aki?’ Even if I really wanted to ask, but I couldn’t ask it out. *imagines Soichiro saying, ‘Idi-ot, it is for you to give up so I’m giving you a week.’* Because it seems that you’ll say that to me so I couldn’t bring myself to ask.”
Comment: So, I guess they knew what Sou told Reiko and probably, letting her off since Sou has fallen for a girl like that. Riko seems okay with it but Yuu doesn’t seem to accept it that he has fallen for Reiko. I guess even if they are angry over what she did, they pity Reiko for what she got herself into. ^^; It does seem strange that they still want to have something to do with Reiko. Oh well, if Sou loves her then so be it.. Hm..it seems that Yuu tends to disapprove of his friends’ ‘first loves’. ^^; And, somewhere else, there is another lovesick self-centered guy who doesn’t seem to know how to deal with a girl who isn’t that interested in him. He seems quite clueless and easy to manipulate just make things favorable for him...in his imagination ^^;; Anyway, his antics on LINE is amusing. =P For now, it seems that Riko is avoiding the problem by just singing herself to forget it. But then, even if she overthink it, there doesn’t seem much can be done because right now, she doesn’t want to give up on dream with her friends. Apparently, Riko ‘isn’t cute’ to Aki for not singing just because he asks her to. Usually girls would happily oblige but Riko didn’t. She doesn’t like to be asked to sing if it isn’t a public performance and she is no longer in the mood to sing? She doesn’t want to be some radio or singing bird that would just sing whenever he wants her to?

Maybe it is also related to Riko doesn’t want Aki to have anything to do with her work yet she likes to sing his songs. Seems like a contradiction. ^^; I can understand if she wants to become famous without his help but then, she is singing that song with CP. Was that a special case? Riko has shown her dominating side, as a Chinese reader commented. It amuses me that Aki seems to have a thing or unconscious thing for girls who tend to dominate him. Unless he brings it out from the girls naturally =P He cannot seem to contradict what the girls want. Mari wants him to write songs, and off he goes even with a bit of misgivings and hesitation. Here, Riko doesn’t want him to have anything to do with her work. She somehow manages to do that so I think Aki cannot really stop her from have anything to do with Shibaken. Riko can be quite stubborn. But then, he can be, too. Will that cause a problem for them later on? Riko’s declaration is nice ^^ I guess this time around, Aki would realize how Riko felt when he is around Mari before. In showbiz, I think it is bad if the couple or any one of the couple is very insecure with their relationship and tend to be overly jealous with anyone of the opposite sex dealing with the other especially at work. We’ll see how they handle that. As for Shinya, it seems to be a turning point for him on what to do next. Mush&Co. might really be over if there is no second single and there are other offers for Riko.

I guess Shinya regrets hearing that song because he would tend to compare whatever he composed with the one Aki made. I wonder if Soichiro is insinuating that Shinya use that stolen song. Hopefully, Shinya isn’t stupid enough to do that for that is just a short term gain and a lot to lose later on. But from his imagination of what Soichiro is going to say, I guess Soichiro is either positively saying that he can do something better than Aki, or negatively saying that he give it up. It doesn’t help that his lead singer prefers Aki’s songs even if she doesn’t want to use them for her own band. In this case, it would be nice if Shinya got a friend who can help him decide on this or at least, get the Mush&Co but then, he stole that music from Riko’s player and somewhat claims that it is his to Yuu. He might also have this ‘I’m the producer/composer so I should be deciding things myself rather than asking them especially since they are novice’. It is indeed a tough choice – continue to work hard even if the chance of success of making a better song is 1% which might sell less, or just give it up because Aki’s song will forever be better for Riko’s, stop dreaming, you can’t compete with a genius. It would be nice if Sou can tell him that it doesn’t have to be best-whatever, just do what you like best. Being in a competition with someone/something can really zap the enthusiasm and fun in doing something. Of course, in other cases, it can have the opposite effect like in sports. But then, add in the factor of the music industry as a business..it really complicates things. 红莲&wink炖蘑菇汉化组

  2. This might come out a little disjointed, but I went back and reread the series from the start earlier today and it was striking how similar Soichiro and Shinya are. Both of them can be cold, cruel manipulators to get what they want, and Shinya wants a long term career in the music business like Soichiro. Early in the manga it is shown that only Shinya played on the Crude Play albums because Soichiro pointed out that only the quality of the product and the final sales matters in the music business. I see their conversation at the end of the chapter as Soichiro's challenge to Shinya to see how bad he really wants success, how far he will be willing to go for it and will he be willing to swallow his pride to put out the best product possible. After all, Soichiro has successfully taken credit for Aki's work for years. Will Shinya be able to do the same in order to have the career that he thinks he wants?

    1. I forgot to add, I personally think Soichiro is an evil sociopath and that this is Shinya's crossroad moment where he has to decide whether to sell his soul or not.

    2. Hm..good point ^^ I do notice those similarities that I wondered how come Soichiro didn't 'train' Shinya. ^^;

I forgot about Soichiro doing that to Aki, so ya, he doesn't care which song he uses but of course, if Shinya did, he will really be destroying his relationship..whatever kind it was..with Aki. I don't think Riko knows that song since iirc, she claims that she didn't listen to it. Also, it might just be a 'one time' thing..what about the next single...

Let's see what he will decide...it is very tempting though.

It is one of my favorite series out there IT is so unique.
It even got a movie tough they changed it a lot tough the flow was similar but the scenes where all shortcut compared to the manga.
Well I guess they had to do it so it could be made into a film and so on <.<

    1. Thanks for reading ^-^

      Is that so.

Indeed..it is because it is a film. Maybe it would be more detailed if it is a tv drama.

  5. So I commented on one of your other posts, but I'm translating the rest of the manga scans into English, from 61 to 88. Since I'm doing it alone, I assume it'll take me a month to release, if I do a chapter a day. But I'm determined to try and get it done within 2 weeks. It just upset me that the rest of the chapters aren't posted anywhere, I have the means to do it, and I don't really have the time but I want to do it. I was procrastinating on my work anyway so it'll get me back into the mood of working consistently on a project again. These summaries were super helpful, it's what made me want to translate them! So thank you! So please look forward to the update ^_^!
