Suzume admits to herself that there is indeed something she
must ponder on. Moving forward and turning a blind eye are two different
things. Actually, she already noticed it yet, unexpectedly, she made Mamura say
that kind of things. “Sorry. I’m truly very sorry.” While Yuyuka is eating with
the others, her cellphone rings. It is Suzume telling her that she’ll be going
ahead to Tokyo. Yuyuka exclaims in surprise and asks what happened. At the
airport, Suzume apologizes for making her worry and she is saying this after preparing
herself to be scolded by her. She tells Yuyuka that Shishio is in the hospital
and even if it isn’t big deal but right now, she is going to see him at the
hospital. This confuses Yuyuka that she already doesn’t know where she is going
to get into the conversation but why is she going, and what did Mamura say.
Suzume says that Mamura knows. Yuyuka says that since it is like that, she
doesn’t understand, why. Suzume says that it is because she must, right now,
she have to see Shishio. Yuyuka looks surprised by this but before she can say something,
Suzume says that she’ll properly tell her when she comes back, bye.
Then, Suzume sees that she got a message on her cellphone
from Mamura. Mamura wrote, “Okinawa. I’m very happy that you were able to
invite me to come. Goodbye, idiot.” Suzume looks flustered. While there is an
announcement that it is time to board for the flight from Okinawa to Haneda,
Suzume bends down with the phone on her head. Meanwhile, at the beach, Mamura
is looking out the beautiful sea while thinking of the beautiful memories he
shared with Suzume. He thinks that time unexpectedly passed by so fast. “If I
knew early on that it will quickly end, I should said to her all of those
things that are hidden in my heart.” Back to the airport, Suzume tells herself
not to cry for right now, she doesn’t have the right to cry and it isn’t the
time to cry. She didn’t let him finish what he is saying, she didn’t listen
attentively to his intention [/feelings], and right now, she is going to face
it all.
At the hospital, Yukichi looks depressed. Tsubomi tries to
cheer him up by saying that it is only two stitches. Tsubomi says that he is
quite old yet he kept on wavering that it makes one worry about him. Holding a
bag to him, she says, here are his and Shishio’s change of clothes. Yukichi
thanks him. While Tsubomi complains about men being worrisome[/troublesome], Suzume
arrives. She tells to her shocked uncle that she came after telling the teacher
in charge of the trip that there is an emergency in the family. Her uncle
shouts why she lied. Suzume apologizes and says that she has a reason for it.
The nurse tells them to keep the noise down. Her uncle wants her to go back but
Suzume doesn’t want to. He is surprised that she unexpectedly said no. Then,
with a bandage on the right forehead, Shishio comes out and says that they are
quite noisy. Just when he is saying that he got embarrassed saying that he’s
with them, he notices Suzume. Surprised Shishio calls out, “Chunchun..?”
Comment: Let’s
see, how many Mamura fans are tearing up their hair and crying over this? Do
you regret that you didn’t stop reading while Suzume is going out with Mamura?
I’m sure Mamura fans are feeling the same way as Mamura. Better to have stop/not
start it..yet, if one did, we didn’t get to see all those beautiful stuff
between them..even if it is short-lived. ^^; Is it better to have happened with
unhappy ending rather than for it not to have happened at all? It seems that
Mamura is thinking of the former. Still it is better like this, I guess, for
Mamura to let go rather than be with someone who kept on thinking of the other
when he’s with her. Well, it’s pretty much over. The ‘other guy’ has given up
and ‘pushed’ the girl to the rival. It is indeed irritating that Suzume is
thinking that she knew it all along..yet, ya, she just have to make Mamura say
it out for her.
I can only imagine what thoughts/feelings are crossing over Mamura’s mind when he said all those stuff. He said goodbye though I’m not sure if that is total severing of ties. For the meantime, probably it is good since things would be awkward with him and their friends. So, the uncle is there and Shishio is there when Suzume is going to hear out the rest of what Shishio is going to say. I guess they will sort things out over why Shishio lied to her when she confessed. Of course, with her uncle there, I don’t think they will easily go steady yet..unless it is a secret. Maybe, it would be like in Sugar*Soldier, he will wait for her to graduate. So, I’m guessing that the next chapter might be confession, kiss and lovey-dovey..then maybe, an epilogue of what happens to everyone later on? Of course, Mamura fans would probably still reading to see if he also gets a happy ending or he’ll be like the other ‘other guys’ in love triangles, stay single and continue to like girl until the end. Quote of the day:
Letting go doesn't mean that you don't care about someone
anymore. It's just realizing that the only person you really have control over
is yourself. ~ Deborah Reber, Chicken Soup for the Teenage Soul
I don't like, I hope there's a twist on it! and it will end like Tonari no Atashi
ReplyDeleteMaybe...like she just want to hear Shishio out then go back to Mamura?
DeleteFrom what they've said and other implication, it seems unlikely. Still..maybe...
No hopes left..crushed..I don't understand why ppl lead others on if they only have to leave them halfway :( :( ...thanks Kat for summary
ReplyDeleteAh..and it is always very painful for the one left behind.
DeleteThanks for reading ^-^
thnks for the summaries U.u team mamura dying slowly U.u
ReplyDeleteThanks for reading, Shinohara ^-^
DeleteYa...and the relationship seemed to have ended like 'instant death'. ;_;
I'm conflicted. I love Mamura and Shishio, but am disappointed Mazume had to end like this and was so short lived. He didn't even get a chance to kiss her. I'm interested in how this is going to play out.
ReplyDeleteTrue, Courtney. And the way the mangaka showed almost kiss for both guys..I think the only kiss she'll get in this series is from the one she'll end up with.
DeleteUgh, yet another student/teacher romance ending that I will always find disturbing. Though I'm not going to hold my breath that Mamura will get his own happy ending with someone else. The left out rival never does or I can't remember one ever getting any right of the top of my head. Thanks for all the summaries!
ReplyDeleteYa, most likely, Sarah.
DeleteIndeed..I also cannot think of one. ^^; It must have been really rare.
Thanks for reading ^-^
If Suzume really won't choose Mamura, let me have him. Waaahhh
ReplyDeleteWell, I kinda expected it from the very beginning of their relationship. But I'm still hoping that this will be like Moe Kare or Tonari no Atashi where the main girl chose the second guy. Because there's always a tendency that second guys are better.
Hehe..lots of his fans would want him ^^
DeleteTrue..that's always the most difficult..liking the second guy and then that happens. ^^;;
mamura.... huhuhuhuh.... altho i expected this to happen.. still, i was also one of those hoping it would end like tonari no atashi
ReplyDeleteI see...well, it seems the mangaka wanted it to be this way.
DeleteI don't understand!!! This is NOT SUPPOSED TO HAPPEN!!! Kat, oh my god, I really don't want to accept this. This is so painful. WHY??? ARGHHH!!!
ReplyDelete-Sara-
Alas, Sara...her heart seems to already belong to her first love. Lucky Shishio gets a second chance...
DeleteI certainly still want Suzume to wake up and see that Mamura really cares and sacrifices a lot for her. Sensei....well..I am not sure about him. Do you think Mamura still has a chance? I can cry all over again by just reading your summary.
DeleteBut thank you Kat. Your summary was really helpful.
-Sara-
True..but her heart lies with...
DeleteFrom how things are, seems not... she could have refuted all those things that Mamura said but she didn't, and was determined to go back to see Shishio. It would be nice if she goes back to Mamura but how things happened and if she were to go back..would make her look really fickle. ^^;;
Thanks for reading, Sara ^-^
mamura.. :'( no no no no no.... this totally sucks...
ReplyDeleteYa...that kind of break up is really...
DeleteNow I can sit down with peace and waiting for the next development. Thanks Kat! :D
ReplyDeleteHehe, sangataa ^^
DeleteYou're welcome ^-^
My ship is almost sailing away! I have nothing against Mamura, but I still believe that the chemistry between Shizume is definitely better. Mamura deserves a better girl (me? :D), but I don't wish for anyone to go into a relationship knowing fully well that the other party still has lingering feeling for another. Most of the time, that ends with a heartache. I don't know if I should be angry at Suzume for accepting Mamura's feelings without having full closure on Shisio or not. Mamura is the "logical" choice for her age, but just dating him to force yourself to forget Shisio is not the way to do. Anyway... what the heck, she's 17 :') She doesn't know shit most of the time (and most adults don't either hahaha).
ReplyDeleteI personally think that acceptable for her to have a relationship with Shisio AFTER she graduates high school. If it's really meant to be, Shisio can wait and so can Suzume. It's only a year (or two?).
Is that so, jaejin. ^^ True..and well, it is indeed a risk. I guess everything might turn out well if Shishio didn't 'come back for her'/confess. Actually, I think there was closure when he rejected her. But then, yes, there is still that lingering feeling though she must have thought, well, he doesn't like me, why am I going to keep on liking him. Something like that.
DeleteSince it is too soon, it does seem like she is on 'rebound dating' with Mamura. Mamura probably also thought that he had a chance because of how Suzume is reacting/being proactive. Like, she went to his house early in the morning to say it is okay to go steady, she was the one who invited him to Okinawa, etc. Of course, there are signs that she is easily distracted with anything related to Shishio. So, at that point, better to end it as soon as possible?
True..everyone makes mistakes.
Hm..less than 2 but more than a year since they are probably in June-august of second year high. With her uncle there, yup, that would probably happen.
Damn, I was probably dead tired XD So many sp.
DeleteYes! Mamura was the rebound :( Ugh, I feel so much for this story, since it's easily to relate (being the rebound or being guilty of using a rebound).
True.
DeleteIt's bitterly funny... 1st guy breaks the girl's heart. 2nd guy picks up the pieces and the girl is able to smile again... All for the 1st guy to just come back and take the repaired girl back and the SAME CARD, THE SAME CARD, THESE WORDS: "I've love you, I was wrong, I see it now, forgive me!" And of course she forgives him, because let's face it, it's the same terrible cliche, always. *Sighs* this story route happens in all romance mangas at least 80% of the time, while all the other story love routes are the sad 20%... I Sadly always wind up choosing the 20% story route, poor me. I'm tired of the same romance story 80% of the time. Someone switch it up. There's no rule that the main girl always has to end up with the guy that is the second main character. Can we stop the madness? Yeah. It's your story, but at this point your basically just copying all the rest or are recopying with different characters and different dynamics. *Sighs* this main girl and main guy thing needs to die.when u write a story, all characters are the MAIN. So all story routs are valid. Feel free to step out the box, go crazy, you have different characters, use 'em. My rant is over. G'bye.
ReplyDeleteAh yes, MarieBeTrue, Oh..is that so..hm..so you usually root for the 'second guy'?
DeleteWell, that is true though apparently, for it to go for the 80% story cliche = time and tested? It is like first love = last love. There are some who did it and even went for the 'didn't end up with anyone' route. I guess, there is already a strong fan base for the main couple or rather, the mangaka likes that pairing.
I am. DOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONE with this manga!! DONE!! T___T My Mamura, my baby!!! T__T Waaaah, what did she make him say, look at him! LOOK AT THIM, WAAAH *crying herself to sleep tonight*
ReplyDelete~Yuki
Ya..Yuki...that was quite heart wrenching.
DeleteThis mirrors Ao Haru Ride's latest chapter.
ReplyDeleteWhile AHR is already sealed.
HnR on the other hand still gives off the feeling that it'll have a plot twist like Tonari no Atashi.
Is that so, Sanzy.
DeleteHnR, does? It does seem pretty much sealed to me.
yay i'm having hope on shizume again
ReplyDelete=) Chun
DeleteI just keep thinking that she comes back to recheck about her feelings and then finds out that her heart lies with Mamura ~
ReplyDeleteOr maybe this is only my selfish thought.
Who knows, right?
#teamMamuratilltheend
Maybe..but seems unlikely for her to go back again with only two chapters left. She could have said something else to Mamura instead of leaving which pretty much confirms his belief that she is indeed still in love with Shishio.
DeleteI too think there's going to be a twist. This may seem really inconsequential but there was a side chapter where Suzume and Mamura went out to on a date to some cafe that's supposed to be for couples. And I remember one of Suzume's friends saying that couples who had an item off the hidden menu (or the menu on the back or something) is meant to stay together forever and then in the next panel, we see Suzume munching on just such an item and Mamura looking a bit bemused but happy. That kinda gave it away to me who the endgame is going to be. However, I could be totally wrong and finding clues where none exist. I hope I'm right though but for some reason, Shishio's just not doing it for me. He's an adult and at a completely different point in his life compared to Suzume. I guess we'll see.
ReplyDeleteAh, true, there were those side stories, thebookwurrm, and there is even one that hinted on it in the hibi chouchou crossover with this series. It is with Mamura. I don't know if it is because she is currently dating Mamura at that time.
DeleteAnyway, ya, let's just wait and see.
I think those two guys aren't good enough for her. She's moving in a faster pace to maturity and it looks like the guys are stuck at a point in their growth and are being left behind. There's one she looks to as a friend (lower level of relationship), and the other, she looks up to and admires (someone in a higher level of relationship), I just wish there'll be one she can look to as an equal. I mean those two likes her, yes, but aren't they pampering her too much? Better if there'll be someone who could scold her, make her angry occasionally, challenge her to do better on her grades and straighten up her twisted thinking about love.
ReplyDeleteIf you disagree with 'twisted thinking' here's one example: she went out with someone even if she wasn't sure if it was love or not.
Is that so, ann ^^ Well, apparently, that isn't what the mangaka is going for. Lol, from that description, isn't that Yuyuka? ^^;
DeleteAre there other examples of the 'twisted thinking'? That example is quite common in shoujo so I don't think that it is unique to her. It seems that even if the person doesn't like the other, one might agree to it..though the usual condition is the one doesn't like anyone else. Then, they know each other more and fall in love. If not, bye-bye.
