Kedamono Kareshi [Chapter 30]

While the host is telling some first year lovers to come onstage and shout out loud their hearts’ feelings on the microphone, Himari is busy wondering what Ryou meant ‘if she was at the clinic just now’. She wonders if he realized it but then, it is impossible. She is startled when a guy shouts that no matter what, they’ll be together whether in high school or in college. His girlfriend says that she’ll do her best so that they can always be together. As the host calls for the next couple, Himari is wondering how to resolve this. It is now Ryou and Himari’s turn. Ryou just stand up and go onstage while Himari nervously wonders what to say. She is horrified to see her mother waving at her. Then, she wonders how come Keita is also there. She becomes flustered as he kept on looking at her. The host introduces the couple. Keiko is quite excited over their mutual declaration. She asks Keita if he knew about this. Then, she realizes that guy’s name is Ryou. She excitedly tells Shigeru that Ryou guy is the one whom Himari always likes during elementary. Keita can only slightly scowl upon hearing that. The audience is becoming noisy. Himari still doesn’t know what she should say. Ryou tells everyone that actually, he and Himari aren’t going steady but rather, he only always has an unrequited love for her. Some are shock over that kind of confession while the others think that it is quite courageous. Ryou continues to say that he likes Himari and he joined the cultural festival committee because of her so that it made their classmates misunderstand and recommended them to the contest on their own. While softening his expression, Ryou says that for him, right now is a very important time and he would like to ask everyone to calmly listen to what he said until the end. [<- I’m not sure if a page is missing but after this, he didn’t say anything else so maybe he is saying to give them space ^^;] While their classmates wonder if they did something excessive, the audience is already cheering Ryou on and he’s quite cute. After Ryou finished talking, someone says that compared to telling his feelings for her, right now, Ryou did an onstage confession. The audience is clapping their hands. Ryou seems to tell Himari that perhaps, by just doing this, the people around them would stop talking about them. Himari looks somewhat sad[/guilty]. Soon, it is announced who is the first years’ winner. Later on, Keiko is really happy that Himari and Ryou won and it’s truly amazing. Himari timidly says that it isn’t a bit amazing. Patting Himari’s shoulder, Keiko giggles that the other party is Ryou and it seems to be fate.
She asks how come Himari didn’t tell her earlier about it and there were definitely a lot of love letters between them. Himari tells her that is a long time ago and right now, they— Her mother says that if it is Ryou, she’ll hold up her hand and approve. She tells Himari that Ryou always treated her nicely so he is definitely a good kid w and she supports Himari. Himari is shock by that. Keiko says that they still have to clean things up so she’s going ahead. Himari tries to tell her to wait but her mother tells her to just tell her everything in detail after she returns home. Keiko happily tells her husband that they’re going and it’s really great that the other party is Ryou. Himari wonders what to do for the person she likes is-- [Keita]. Meanwhile, Keita is kicking some stone around to vent his frustration over Ryou and Himari winning the contest. He tries to laugh it off by asking if he’s an idiot when that is only a game. Nevertheless, he couldn’t convince himself that it is only like that. Looking flustered, he wonders if she is still choosing family. Then, a woman calls out to Keita. Keita looks dark and asks how come she appears here, leave. The woman tearfully apologizes and says that in the end, he is still angry at her. “But, no matter what, mama still wants to see Keita.” Soon, Himari waves goodbye to the others. She overhears the others about how lucky that they are with today’s activity because of the lovers’ competition and the two are their committee members. Himari thinks that Keita isn’t around and he didn’t participate in the activity so maybe he went to work. She decides to go home. Then, a guy asks if she’s going home alone. She says yes. The guy then pushes Ryou out and tells her to let Ryou bring her home. Ryou protests that didn’t he say not do to this kind of thing. The guy just bids Ryou goodbye. Somewhat flustered, Ryou apologizes to Himari for he told them many times but.. Himari nervously laughs and says that everyone doesn’t have malice about it. She adds that it is only a misunderstanding so it is alright. Still smiling, she thanks him for today but it is alright for her to go home alone. She tells him that she’ll see him tomorrow at school. Himari walks away. Ryou looks downcast then becomes determined. Just as Himari goes to the train station, Ryou grabs her wrist and tells her that he’ll still bring her home, let him bring her home.
Comment: Why do I feel that Himari is digging herself into a hole as she continues to kept the truth from her mother? Contrary to what Ryou seems to intend to do, it now makes everyone want to root for him including Himari’s mother. In a way, Ryou being nice to Himari during elementary is paying off. I begin to wonder if Keiko doesn’t know that Keita was the elementary bully who made Himari scared of guys. Somehow, this realization makes me wonder how she’ll react if she knew. With the appearance of Keita’s mother, Keita can use this to his advantage. He can use his mother to get his father back so that he won’t be ‘siblings’ with Himari anymore. Of course, that wouldn’t exactly make Himari happy for breaking her mother’s heart. The other way is for Keita to move out and live with his mother so they are no longer ‘siblings’ in a way. One thing is for sure, things would change a bit with the mother’s comeback. As for Ryou, I guess he isn’t going to easily give up but he isn’t exactly going to act like a ‘villain’ just to get Himari. Will he successfully bring her home or would their be a hindrance like she refuses again or someone like Keita sees them and..? until the next chapter. Scans by allwink

  2. Aah, I really like this manga, but I don't like Himari!
    She seems so indecisive and weak sometimes, and I can't stand it.
    When she finally figures out what she wants, she should just go for it.
    If she hesitates too much, then she won't get another opportunity.
    Also, if her mother really loved her, she would accept their relationship, so Himari shouldn't be so afraid to tell her.
    I hope everything turns out well in the end!

    2. Yeah, she acts like such a door mat. Putting other people before her own feelings is starting to cause huge problems for everyone now. Lies and half-truths just keep piling up.

      Just go away Ryou. Himari was yours for the taking and you blew it by arrogantly assuming she would wait around for you. His behavior now seems desperate and pathetic.

      I actually feel bad for Keita. He just needs to get away from everyone and all the drama.

    3. I totally agree with you too. With her indeciciveness, she will end up with nothing. If this story is a game, Himari already missed many flags. And she will get a Bad End. Haha.

    4. Hehe, is that so..though I agree. It is one of those..I really don't understand what the guys saw in her..oh ya, it is love, right? But then, in this series, I'm totally not rooting for any of the guys either. ^^;;

      In a way, if all that happens, this series would be over. =P I get the impression that it will end when the two finally get together.

    5. I like Himari..but she's driving me crazy with "my parents' feelings are more important than anyone"...and I feel bad for Keita too :/

  3. Himari should be honest with her feelings. I'm getting annoyed with her attitude. I know she's afraid her mother might disapprove of " sibling " love, but she needs to take the risk .

    2. You probably did, Anonymous, like what Tika mentioned.

      This is a non-priority series of the Chinese scanlation so it isn't updated with the Japanese raws.
