Kedamono Kareshi [Chapter 23]

And, the small lies are accumulating bit by bit. Himari couldn’t sleep when she should because they are going home tomorrow and it will be a long trip. She looks at her cellphone with a fox strap and blushes. She thinks that it isn’t ‘a souvenir from the trip’ but rather, it is a confirmation of their close connection. She hears some sound and is surprised that Keita with his quilt has gone to her and tells her, shh.. Himari still screams in surprise that Keita immediately covers her mouth and ask what she is doing, stupid when he tells her to be quiet. Blushing and confused Himari is wondering why Keita is over at her side when her mother is just beside her. While hiding inside the quilt with Keita, Himari whispers what he is thinking, quickly leave when their parents are in the same room. He whispers her to stop moving recklessly when it’s quite crammed inside. She blushes in surprise when Keita hugs her tight. He tells her that she’s noisy, can’t she keep quiet. Himari becomes quiet and feels very nervous. Keita complains that obviously they have three days’ time yet [they] didn’t get to do anything at all. He blames his father for being a hindrance and all of his original plans are wasted. Himari turns to face him then stares at him. This made Keita blush and tells her not to look towards this side. She asks him if he wasn’t happy during this trip. After a pause, Keita says that it isn’t quite bad like that strap thing. This made Himari think that obviously this is wrong but she wants to stay at his side and really wants to be close to him and thinking of this, always liking him.
They were startled when Keiko groans. This freaks out Himari that she tells Keita to quickly leave together with his quilt. Keita tells her that hurts, don’t push. He goes back to his side and looks at Himari. He whispers good night and goes back to sleep. This made Himari blush. She looks at her mother who turns towards her. Himari mentally apologizes to her mother. The next day, Shigeru tells Himari that he wants to go a certain place before they head home and actually, this is the real reason for the trip. While packing her clothes, Himari wonders what it is. Soon, they are at the cemetery. Himari realizes that they are going to her father’s grave. Shigeru chuckles to Himari if it is a bit unexpected. He tells her that he always wanted to come once with his new family. Shigeru bends down and says, “It has been a long time, Tomoyuki[guesswork from 智幸]. Today, all four of us came to see you. Today, I want to officially tell you that I and my son, will always protect the two people whom you always loved and protected so you can relax. I also hope you will bless our newly established family of four.” He stands up and tells Himari that it is almost time to go back to their [‘our’] home. As the parents plan to buy some souvenirs, Himari holds her cellphone tight and subconsciously think that ‘she doesn’t want their parents to know’ ‘want to be always like this with Keita’..what the heck is she doing. Keita asks Himari what she is always standing like that, lost in thought. He notices Himari’s flustered expression. Keita immediately grabs her hand and asks her just now, what is she thinking?
Comment: So, Keita manages to sneak in a lovey-dovey moment with Himari even if might be short-lived or the last one for a while, since Himari also has to consider Keita’s father aside from her mother to keep and be a ‘happy family’. In a way, it does seem that Keita’s father has been a hindrance to Keita in regards with Himari during this trip. Aside from ruining whatever he planned for the trip, the talk with Himari’s father probably made Himari decide to sacrifice her love for her parents and for them to stay as a family. I’m beginning to wonder if such relationship is really frowned on even if they aren’t really blood related. Will their family be ‘destroyed’ if their relationship is known? At most, in this series, they would have to deal with gossipy neighbors and well, in a way, it might be about Keiko being oblivious to the two’s relationship which would show that she’s a ‘bad mother’-type. But then, their parents only recently married and those two have a ‘connection’ way before. Well, I guess this is to prolong the series in a way to give Ryou a chance. Scans by allwink

  2. Thank you so much for giving up your time to translate this manga. I don't know where this is heading towards, but I want Himari and Keita together and be lovey-dovey without any worries and disturbance and I guess that'll take some time for it to happen. Thanks.

  3. Yay!!! Thank youuuuu very very much :)
I liked the love-dovey moment too <3...and it as well seems like you sad "the last one for a while".

Himari will suffer if she really stay thinking that way. Keita is self-centered and can be very mean with those who oppose him ...rsrsrs...I'm excited to see the progress of the next chapters.

  5. Thanks for the summary! Himari is a girl who tends to think of others before herself which is her character which I don't blame her, but Keita is the reason i am worrying about. He is pushy type, and I hope he will give Himari a time to tell him how she feels about the relationship and its consequences. It looks like he doesn't think what will affect the family if their relationship is public. <3 Tika

That's right. Hopefully so and it seems that way.

  6. It will be interesting to see how Keita handles the direction that this is taking if/when Ryou steps back into the picture. With his past issues of female abandonment/betrayal (mother, previous girl) it could get pretty nasty.

Others might disagree, but I don't like Ryou much. He might be "nice", but the fact that he went out on dates with her before breaking up with his girlfriend and has been stringing her along since her confession doesn't speak highly of his character.

On an unrelated note, it seems like every series I'm following right now has the main couple on the skids and the rival stepping in to interfere. So frustrating. - RC

    2. Ya..and that's right, I forgot about that..indeed, it might be nasty.

That's right about the dating..though the after confession thing, I thought of it like he is now entertaining Himari as a potential girlfriend = he hasn't closed the door yet. Aside from the mangaka giving Keita a chance to get together with Himari, I think it is like not to easily change girlfriends because he is on rebound-type of thing. Anyway, it would be nice to have a side story as to why he did that since there isn't much stuff about him..only the 'shallow' nice-nice stuff.

      Hehe, is that so.

  7. Thank you for this! With Keita having tendency to do cruel things and Himari having a soft heart, I wonder how will the story go.

  8. Thnx a lot for the summary. I really appreciate your hard work. ♥ Himari & Keita's lovey dovey moments was very cute. Gosh!! this keita is so handsome & himari is so cute!!! :P But i guess after hearing the family thing himari will try to sacrifice her love n may be then Ryou will get a chance. But keita won't keep quiet ...let's see how himari battles with her own feelings. Here is only one question in my mind: What's so wrong in their love when they are not blood-related? n I agree with your comment in this matter :)
