Suki-tte Ii na yo [Chapter 46]

Yamato is taking pictures of the scenery with his new camera. He thought that he could perhaps discover himself [as a photographer] when he took pictures of Mei looking quite happy but then, no matter how many times he takes pictures, he doesn’t feel anything at all when obviously the scenery in front of him is quite beautiful. He develops the pictures and is puzzled why it came out that way. He returns home to see Nagi greeting him with a new hairstyle done by Daichi. Yamato is a bit speechless since the hairstyle is patterned after Megumi’s. That is because Megumi is popular in her school so Nagi asks Yamato to introduce them. After extracting a hesitant agreement from Yamato, Nagi lets Yamato inside. They talk a bit about Megumi being famous and popular. Yamato says that Daichi has been coming home lately so what’s up for today. He says that before, it is to talk with their mother but today, it is with Yamato. Yamato is surprised that Daichi wants him to shoot a photo for a poster in Daichi’s store. Yamato is also shock that he knows that he is taking pictures. Daichi admits that it is because he saw the camera and pictures in his room. Yamato scolds him not to look without permission. His brother asks if he’s quite shy about it. He says that it is mostly flowers and scenery so is that his interest. Yamato pauses and says, no, he doesn’t know, though he likes looking at scenery-stuff. Daichi comments if he can take pictures being like that. Then, Yamato begins to doubt himself and wonders if he was mistaken about feeling that he could discover himself [with photography]. When Yamato snaps out of it, he sees Mei staring at him. They are in the train. Touching his hand, Mei asks him if he is alright and does he feel ill or something. This made Yamato timidly apologize and says that it is alright. This made Mei asks if he doesn’t like to ‘eat cake until full for 120 minutes’ or doesn’t want to go out this weekend. Yamato says that it isn’t that. He blushes when Mei asks if he wants to a quieter place. Soon, they are in a ‘cat place’ = somewhat of a cat zoo where customers can play and pat cats. Mei timidly says that even if a park-type of place would be good but it is already July so she thinks that it would be quite hot. She tells him that since they both like cats, and she thinks that a hairy feeling can put them at ease. Yamato agrees. When Mei admits that she wants to smell the back neck of the cat, he teases her that if she made a tiny wrong step, she could have been a pervert. This made Yamato fall in deep thought that he also have a lot of cute cat pictures and there is something missing from them. Yamato decides to tell Mei what’s bothering him since he feels that she’ll understand him.

Kai wakes up because of an email on his cellphone. It is Rin asking if he is going to the gym today, and she is quite lonely for Megumi isn’t there either. At the gym, Rin is excited when she hears her cellphone rings. Rin puts down the towels and reads her email from Kai saying that it isn’t definite but he’ll probably go in the afternoon. Ren grouchily tells her to get back to work since they are busy in the morning. Rin answers back that she is working and she’s only reading her email. Rin says that doesn’t Ren use his non-working time for play time and would he go out with his otaku friends this afternoon. This irks Ren that he retort back with a sarcastic apology that he wears the same kind of outfit and isn’t she a fashion otaku. Rin cutely says that she is a riajuu [/REAL, satisfied with her offline life] so she doesn’t understand what an otaku says. After talking back at each other, Rin happily anticipates Kai coming to the gym. Then, Ren comments that Rin has a lot of magazine work lately so would there be more days when she isn’t free to help out the gym. At a bookstore, Megumi sees the magazines with Rin on the cover. Megumi sadly thinks that fundamentally, it is always her on the summer edition and also in next year’s spring, there is no market[/sales] for her who is about to leave Japan. At school, Mei goes to Megumi’s class and asks if she can talk to Megumi. Outside, Megumi comments that it is quite rare for her to take the initiative to talk to her so what’s up. Mei nervously asks her if she can introduce a photographer to her for Yamato wants to become one. She explains that Yamato took a lot of pictures but he has no way of deciding what he wants to take pictures of, that he is at a loss, so she thinks that it can help if he listens to the opinion of a professional. She doesn’t know someone into photography so she thought that Megumi knows someone like that. It is a surprise for her to see Yamato who is always strong to look quite frustrated but before, when he is listless, even if she thinks that he’s acting strange, but she doesn’t know..so she didn’t about comforting.. Megumi tells teary-eyed Mei that she shouldn’t cry and from her side, it seems like Mei is showing off. She casually tells Mei that at this time, isn’t it normal to have that kind of expression and it is more strange if he’s smiling like a nitwit. It isn’t like Mei did something to him so don’t mind it too much. Megumi tells her that there is no benefit in becoming depressed together with the other party and if she couldn’t say anything, at least give her a smile. But then, for Mei to come to her like this, it still depends on Yamato if there would be a result from her hardwork. Megumi says that she knows of a good photographer who is an expert in capturing a splendid moment so she thinks that they[/Yamato] can ask him a lot of things.

Megumi agrees to help Mei out but it would depend on the time and schedule of the photographer. She says that person is important to her so they better not stand him up[/they better show up]. Mei bows and thanks her. Megumi wonders if this is the so-called ‘interrelated’. At the gym, Rin happily greets Megumi who is working out. Megumi asks her what’s up since she looks quite happy. Rin tells her if it found out that she is going on an amusement park date with Kai on Saturday. Megumi asks if it was changed to Saturday. Rin asks if she mentioned it before. Since the tickets are from Megumi so she knows, she just tells Rin that it was Kai who told her. This made Rin timidly ask that she has been thinking if Megumi and Kai have a very good friendly relation. Not wanting to chat about love, Megumi says more or less but it isn’t something special. Rin asks Megumi to please tell her if she knows things about Kai since she likes Kai. Megumi thinks that Rin is quite greedy since Rin has the height and appearance to become a popular model while in junior high and her work is going smoothly without having to work hard, yet unexpectedly, she still wants something. Megumi tells her that Rin gave her that feeling [that Rin likes Kai] but sorry, she cannot tell her anything about Kai for they aren’t special friends. She doesn’t like Kai and she thinks that it is the same with Kai. Blushing since Megumi knew that she likes Kai, Rin tells her not to say that and she [Rin] should be apologizing. Continuing to work out, Megumi is envious of Rin who is quite frank in everything and is successful, and the opposite of envy is frustration. In school, Megumi goes to Mei’s classroom and gives her the contact information of the photographer. Megumi has work on that day so she cannot accompany them but he said that he’s free on Saturday ten o’ clock. She says that it would be good if Yamato learns something and good luck [/gambatte]. Mei says okay. Later on, Yamato is shock and amazed over Mei did. Yamato asks her if she is okay with this and Mei says yes. Mei praises Megumi for working earlier than them and she’s even long-sighted because she [Mei] never thought of going out of Japan because for her, the world is only the country of Japan. Yamato laughs that it is the same with him, his vision is quite narrow. Touching his hand, Mei cheers Yamato on since right now, he wasn’t able to attain that level. She says that she doesn’t have a lot of contacts and she doesn’t know up to what degree she can help him but she’ll do what she can do to assist him. She urges him to go. Then, on Saturday, the two went to see the photographer. [On the side, I think that is Megumi at her work.] The ending narration says that they don’t know if it is a waste of time because they still haven’t started so keep on struggling and working hard to move forward. Blurb: “After listening to what the photographer said, Yamato will.. Meanwhile, Kai and Rin’s amusement park date unfolds!?”

Comment: Mei is such a nice girlfriend that she takes the initiative to help out Yamato even if she has to go and ask a favor from an ex-love rival. Maybe after this, Yamato would reward her with something ^^ I wonder what Nagi would think if she learns that Megumi had a crush on her brother and he turned her down. =P But then, I think Nagi would still pick Mei for her brother. As for Yamato’s problem, I’m not a photographer but I get the impression that his problem is liking what he is taking a picture of..he likes Mei but for the rest, it is a bit of ‘shallow feelings’ that it is cute and beautiful so there is no connection. If it doesn’t move him when he’s taking those pictures, I guess it shows on the pictures. It would be amusing though if in the end, Mei turns out to be the photographer and Yamato as the kindergarten teacher =P Megumi is quite nice to help them out. I guess for her to think of Rin as greedy stems from her frustration and envy that Rin can easily get what she [Megumi] personally wants = great modeling job. Well, it remains to be seen if Rin can get Kai. There isn’t much romance lately because of the focus regarding the main couple’s future careers so I hope that there will be something between Rin and Kai on their date. Scans by 离境汉化组
