Kedamono Kareshi [Chapter 20]

Cornering Himari on the wall near the door of their house, Keita tells her to sincerely answer his question, she likes him, right. After a pause, blushing Himari looks away and asks what he is saying, don’t say strange things and how is that kind of thing possible. She tells him to quickly let her go or their parents would be shock if they see them like this. Keita sternly tells her to say that while looking at him. Himari didn’t react that Keita calls out to her. Himari starts screaming that she said that she hates him, really hates him, okay that’s it, conversation over. She shouts isn’t his bullying given her enough misery when he obviously told her ‘hate you’ and ‘stupid Himari’ type of words. She exclaims how she can possibly like a person like Keita. Those words stabbed Keita. Flustered Himari kept telling herself that it is impossible and why things unexpectedly became like this and how could she say that. To her shock, Keita corners her again and darkly says that at this time, she could still say that kind of words, and is that the mouth that just said those words. He grabs her chin. Himari is nervous that he is angry. Himari is puzzled when Keita says that even if he is like that, he gets hurt when she jokes around like that. Keita leans to kiss her but she pushes him away and shouts that he’s doing that again, quit teasing her. Keita grabs her wrist. He shouts that he isn’t teasing her and he doesn’t mean to tease her for he won’t do this kind of thing to the person he hates. He tells her that if she hates it, it is alright if she hits him and runs away. And, if she doesn’t avoid it, then acknowledge it early on. Wondering if he isn’t joking or teasing her, Himari lets Keita kiss her.

Then, Keita asks her what is it. Himari wonders if she is going to say her true feelings. “—I” And, they were surprised to hear some conversation outside the door. It is their mother and a lady neighbor. They greet each other and talk about the weather. The neighbor mentions to her that she saw her children at the fireworks display and she’s envious that the relationship of high schoolers is quite good. Keiko says that they still always quarrel and if they are harmoniously get along, it would be more worry-free. The neighbor says that those two are not real siblings even if they are only legally siblings but they are of the same age and their relationship is always quite good, that would definitely be quite troublesome so she [Keiko] has to pay attention to things. Keiko laughs it off by saying that thing won’t happen to her children. That conversation affected Himari that made her just quietly leave Keita alone. In her room, Himari thinks that they were seen by someone at that time. She lies down on the bed and thinks that even if they aren’t blood-related, the people around them see them as ‘siblings’. She recalls Keita saying that he won’t do this to someone he hates, and his kiss. Recalling what her mother told the neighbor, Himari thinks that even if she wants to tell him, she can no longer tell him her true feelings. She is surprised when Keita opens the balcony door and asks if she is already sleeping. Himari sits up in surprise. He goes on top of her and says, “Hey- stupid Himari, don’t always run away.”

Comment: And, I guess Himari pretty much realized she likes him but unfortunately, overheard that conversation so she clammed up again. I almost hoped that their mother would suddenly open the door while they are in that position =P Hehe, just to see her reaction. Scans by all★wink汉化组
