Kanojo wa Uso wo Aishisugiteru [Chapter 50]

Even if Aki fundamentally really likes composing music but he didn’t expect it to become a ‘most enjoyable thing’.. Flashback: During high school, Aki showed his friends his new music composition. Kaoru exclaimed that it is super amazing. They all praise it and cannot wait to perform it in front of the audience. This made Aki quite happy. He thinks that it is because he’s with friends. End flashback. Cover page: “My valuable things. Friends∙Girlfriend∙Music. Not a single one is indispensable. I cannot distinguish which is first or which is last. And for whatever reason, I cannot compromise [them] for anything..” At 503 st, Crude Play continues to practice. While eating chocolates, Aki listens to the music then stops them by saying that Kaoru got it wrong. Kaoru apologizes for he knew he played it wrong. Aki sternly tells them to do it again. Shinya shouts wait. He asks Kaoru to be honest and say if he thinks that he can play that part right now. Kaoru looks flustered. Shinya says that he thinks that Kaoru’s ability cannot accomplish what Aki is asking for. Shinya tells Aki that no matter how many times they do this, the outcome that he wanted is impossible so if they continue, it is only just a waste of time. Aki looks flustered. After looking surprised, Kaoru tries to laugh it off. Shinya and Teppei are speechless. Shinya says that he thinks that they should do synchronization in this part. And, a staff member calls out that they have a 20 minute break. Sitting on a sofa, Aki is emitting an aura of ‘don’t come near me’. At the lounge, Kaoru exclaims that he’s hungry so Shinya suggests that they go eat some ramen which is 5 minutes away from there. Riko quietly looks on as they leave. Teppei gives Riko a drink. He apologizes for making her see that unhappy incident. He says that Shun always follow suit and it is Kaoru’s turn this time. Riko says that she didn’t understand what happened, what this ‘synchronization’ refers to.
Teppei tells her that it is to method to make music be played perfectly during LIVE performance. He says that it would be great if, just by relying on their performance, it is competent [like a professional] enough to be played LIVE, but they couldn’t do it so there’s a need for someone to complement it. Riko asks if that means that they don’t want to be complemented[/assisted]. Teppei says that it is nice to say if their own performance would do, but using the performance of someone who can play well, can cover up one’s own inferior performance..and it is definitely quite frustrating. At the ramen store, Kaoru orders miso corn ramen. Shun says that’s quite fast and what would he order. Kaoru orders him the same as his. This made Shun exclaim but Kaoru says that it is alright for he is here to comfort him so he has to seriously eat the ramen that he doesn’t like. Shun says that it isn’t so, he is hungry to the point of being half-dead. Kaoru tells him to forget it, it is because he didn’t properly practice, and he really had a bit of too much good time[/goofing off]. Shun looks flustered and just agrees. While eating the ramen, Kaoru is crying. He says that he’s sniffing when eating something hot. Shun just says ya. Back to the studio, Aki is in a bad mood for why is it played bad up to that degree and he knows that it is because he’s too watery[? Or stubborn?] He thinks that what Shinya said is right about using synchronization there since it cannot be played well. And, Soichirou is also right when he asked which one would be worthy of the audience enjoyment, their performance or professional performance. He recalls that sickening feeling when Soichiro asked him who he thinks would switch in playing and Aki answered Shinya. [<- not too sure who’s who is talking between the two if it is vice-versa ^^; but] Aki thinks compared to anyone else, he obviously knew about his playing and how difficult[/sad] it was for it to be rejected but then, why is he rejecting his comrades’ performance. But then, it really pains him to listen to it because the music in his mind is a more beautiful sound. He tries to think that it would be better not to listen to it, nor understand the reason.
Shinya approaches Aki and tells him that 20 minute break is over so he should more or less have already prepared to be honest with his comrade. Aki looks flustered. Shinya offers to be the one who’ll bluntly say it to him that in order to pander to their so-called friendship, their practice wasn’t been conforming[/progressing] these past consecutive days. “If you always hesitate and be indecisive whether to synchronize or not, in the end, it will just tire out everyone. Be indifferent in no matter what method to finish it. Making the LIVE’s audience hear the most amazing music, isn’t that the goal? Kaoru holding[/in charge of] the guitar isn’t at all quite outstanding. It is only ‘cute’. ‘Shun and Teppei’s relationship is quite good’ ‘they’re both crew members and childhood friends’. It is fine just to give people that kind of impression. *Aki sternly calls Shinya’s name* But you also couldn’t endure it, right? The melody played in your head. You have no way of forgetting it, right? For that, this is inevitable. What you need is a performer with that kind of level. By chance, it is your childhood friend. That kind of miracle that gives people the chills won’t happen.” They were interrupted by Kaoru who says that what he said is right, let’s start again. Kaoru passes by them and apologizes to Aki for not being able to play that melody. Aki looks stunned as flustered Kaoru passes him by. Watching this, Riko wonders what to do for Aki is crying. She clenches her fist and shouts out loud. This surprises Aki and the others. Aki goes to Riko and she just says that she just really want to shout out loud. Seeing Riko’s expression, Aki says that he understands, because, he also.. Aki asks Kaoru if he can persist with it for a bit because he knows that he is being stubborn[/ willful] and even if that is so, he also wants Kaoru to play. Kaoru says that he might not be able to play it. Shinya tells Aki not to be this nice and on contrary, it’s quite cruel. Kaoru, Shun and Teppei look flustered yet quiet. To Shinya and the others’ surprise, Aki bows and says, “Please. Only for three days. If after three days, it still cannot be played then I’ll give up on it. Please let me persist on it for a while.”
Comment: And, that is how it is if there is an idealist and a realist in a band. =P Kaoru’s performance cannot reach the level that Aki wants. Is it good being idealist and believe that there will be a miracle and he can pull it off? Or, as Shinya puts it, stop fooling yourself, we’re already wasting time on this. Either side is right yet if balanced, it would turn out alright, I guess since solely being idealist or realist isn’t quite good. In a way, Aki did compromised by continuing it for three more days because he believes in Kaoru. Kaoru would be kind of pressured to pull something off especially since Aki is bowing and asking them for this favor. I think Shinya would agree to it. And, Shinya is really not afraid to say things bluntly without any hesitation even if he is hurting other people’s feelings. Well, the truth hurts. If Shinya didn’t mention anything, they would keep on playing that part and indeed tire everyone out. And, Shinya really knows Aki quite well for even if Aki wants to keep Kaoru playing it, he also knows that what’s in Aki’s mind is much better than that and that’s how Aki would have wanted it to be performed. Well, maybe a miracle would happen and somehow, Kaoru managed to play it well. And, this might be a band who can get away with friends playing together even if they aren’t really that good..not too sure about Mush&Co. Thinking about it now, somehow for them to pull off that stunt of making Riko sing alone with Shinya playing has sealed Mush&Co.’s fate since it made Riko the ‘star’ and not her other two friends.
