Miseinen Dakedo Kodomo Janai [Chapter 14]

Everyday, Karin makes it a point to wake up early in the morning. Seeing Karin making breakfast, there’s no need to say that Nao would definitely scowl. At one side, he is saying that it’s truly a waste and at another side, he would have a grudging expression but always, he ate it all up with no leftovers. This morning, Karin’s 5 alarm clocks has not yet ringed when she heard some sound. She wakes up and asks if Nao is already going to school. She says that there is no morning practice today so how about eating breakfast together. Nao tells her that there is a ball [sports] assembly[/competition] starting today and since he is a sports committee member, he has to go there in advance. Karin whines that she bought his share of ingredients for the breakfast. He tells her that it is okay for her not to cook his share and he told her this so many times. Holding her clock, Karin says that even if he is a committee member, it is still too early since it is 5:36. Nao is startled when she asks if he is still angry about yesterday. She grabs his waist and exclaims that it is Isuzu who followed her on his own and that is something beyond her control. And, regarding tickling her like this [with demo on Nao], she also didn’t say that she is living together with him. She exclaims that she did her best so don’t be angry at her. Then, Karin accidentally pulls up his shirt and touches his skin. This made Karin blush. While apologizing, she’s happy to be able to touch his belly. Putting on a fake-looking smile, Nao tells her what she’s saying, he isn’t angry at all. He just forgot to tell her that he was shaken when he thought that someone in their school knew about their marriage. He thanks and praises her for being able to protect their secret, then, he’s going to school. Outside, Nao loses the smile and touches the place where Karin had accidentally touched him. Somewhat flustered, Nao mutters that whatever Karin does with whoever guy has totally nothing to do with him. Inside, Karin says that Nao’s smile is too glittering, no..he uses that smile when he is viciously dumping[/refusing] someone so why, she didn’t do anything wrong but.. Taking a kitchen knife, Karin wonders what she must do for if this continues, and he came to hate her, it cannot be remedied. In school, everyone is busy with all sorts of ball-related sports. Karin sneaks into Nao’s classroom. She finds Nao’s desk and put in a bento box on his bag. She thinks that Nao is obviously angry because it is almost exposed that they are married and he ought to be angrier if she gives this bento box but this is the only thing she can do. Because if the food she made is very delicious, Nao would definitely show a smile carelessly.

Standing outside the classroom, Karin prays that Nao would eat it. She is surprised when Isuzu is standing beside her and asking what she is doing in front of a third year classroom. Karin angrily looks at him and walks away saying that it is nothing, and it has nothing to do with him. This angers Isuzu. He tries to tickle her but Karin quickly protects her waist and tells him that it is forbidden to tickle her and they are already in high school so tickling would make someone think it is strange. Isuzu asks who this someone is, is it the person she’s living with. Karin shouts that Nao’s competition is starting. She runs off. Isuzu angrily mutters that he constantly sees her back image and he absolutely cannot forgive the person who changed her. He angrily kicks the door. Later on, the teacher is asking who broke down the door. At the field, fangirls are squealing over Nao who managed to hit the ball. Blushing Karin says that Nao is not only good in soccer but also in baseball. Isuzu says that it isn’t amazing at all. Karin complains why he is here. He is sitting beside Karin under the umbrella. He tells her that this is the only place that is shaded. Then, they hear a click. Isuzu asks the guys what they are taking a picture of. The guys are saying that Isuzu is so cute and they heard that with just his exterior appearance, he is the school flower within the first and second floors of the school. Someone grabs Isuzu’s arm and says that his skin is soft, white and smooth, and if this is a boys’ school, someone would have made a move on him. Aghast Isuzu says what kind of joke is that. Karin shouts what foolish things are they saying, for even if it is Isuzu, he is the same with them, he is undeniable a guy and not at all the cute type that they are talking about. Sparkling, Karin says that if they want to take a picture, take hers for not only the school but she is Japan’s cutest girl. The guys seem to decline taking her picture. Isuzu is blushing. Tall classmate tells Nao that Nao’s stalker is with a very beautiful girl today. Nao says no, that is a guy. Tall classmate asks if that is for real when they obviously seem to have that beautiful sisters feeling about them. Nao agrees that people would indeed think that way. Isuzu is leaning on Karin for it is very hot. Then, Nao thinks Karin doesn’t consider Isuzu that way – being cute. Tall classmate tells Nao to look, even if they are a guy and a girl, for them to stick together like that, it is baffling for it felt quite warm[/comfortable]. Nao is surprised to see Isuzu lying down on Karin’s lap as Karin tries to fan him with her hand to cool him off from the sun. Nao looks away and thinks that as he said, whatever [it is] doesn’t matter. He glances back to see Isuzu glaring at him. Nao thinks that their eyes just met.

Then, someone asks Nao if it is alright for him to always be standing like that. Surprised Nao exclaims that he isn’t thinking of anything. Tall classmate hits him with his gloved hand that is holding the baseball and tells Nao that it’s three strikes, you’re out. Back in school, short classmate is venting his frustration on Nao that they could have won there if things were reversed and why is he staring off in that place, could it be that he didn’t eat breakfast. Nao apologizes and says that he ate breakfast. Fangirls offer their delicious-cute bento-s to Nao and he refused for he never accepts those. The third year fangirls tell off the first years to remember that it is useless to give Nao bento box, and don’t do this again for it will just perplex Nao, after all, he never once accepted theirs. The third year girl claps her hands and tells the other girls to take it all back along with those who just put it on the table, or else, it will be thrown away. Then, they wonder whose it is that is left on Nao’s bag. Someone opens it and it is a couple of sandwiches that are overcooked. Nao immediately remembers that those sandwiches are the breakfast that Karin told him that she made a lot and it would be a waste if she throws it away. The third year girl asks if the person who brought it isn’t ashamed of giving this to Nao. The other third year girl says that she’ll throw it away. To her surprise, Nao takes the bag and says that it is his, he brought it from his house. He says that it doesn’t look good but he really likes what’s inside. The third years students say is that so, and it’s actually delicious if they look closely at it. Someone says that there is meat inside, how about giving one to him. Standing by the door, Karin blushes upon hearing what has happened. After class dismissal, Karin prepares to leave but Isuzu grabs her bag handle at the hallway. Karin asks what he is doing. He says that she is in such a hurry so is she going to watch the soccer practice again. Karin says that she isn’t for today, she is only getting ready to go home. Karin is thinking that she definitely has an opportunity tonight. She’ll buy something and go home early, then, make all of Nao’s favorites. That way, he definitely would be forced to show a smile. Isuzu is flustered upon seeing Karin’s smile. Holding a picture, Isuzu hesitantly tells her that there is something that he wants to clarify with her today, and it is related to this picture. Taking the picture, Karin asks him if they cannot talk about this in school tomorrow. Karin looks at the picture and looks surprised for it is a picture of her and Nao’s wedding. Isuzu says that it doesn’t matter to him but regarding this thing, he thinks that she would also feel that it is better not to talk about it at school.

Comment: Nao is still going for his ‘none of my business’ but he’s obviously affected by Isuzu’s appearance and closeness to Karin. I wonder for how long he can keep that up. Of course, Karin mistakes that as Nao angry at her for what had happened. So, her strategy is to make him smile = feed him with yummy food = no longer angry. As for Isuzu, it does seem that he likes Karin romantically based on some of his reactions. But the other scenes here would also make me think otherwise. He seems more angry at Nao for ‘changing’ Karin since it would seem that he had lost his ‘buddy’. After all, they are the only ‘different’ ones in school so if Karin becomes ‘normal’.. Isuzu also doesn’t seem to like that she is keeping things a secret from her and his ‘tickle you’ technique is useless. It turns out that Isuzu looks kind of ‘different’ from the mangaka’s usual drawings is because he is supposed to pass for a girl even if he is a boy. ^^; I wonder though how Isuzu got the picture. Bribed the photographer? Do they even have a wedding album? ^^; Weren’t there supposed to be no one else there except family and the priest? Anyway, I think we’ll know Isuzu’s true intentions towards Karin depend on what he plans to do after knowing the truth. I don’t think Karin can still lie or keep silent with that kind of evidence. Of course, if Isuzu uses that to do some sort of blackmail for her to hang out more with him, that will surely make Nao more jealous which in turn make him realize his feelings for Karin. ^^ Scans by all★wink汉化组
