Hibi Chouchou [Chapter 35]

[Free Talk: I’ve open up the comments for the entries as a trial. I’m a bit worried about it being hard to moderate. ^^; So, just choose whether you like to comment on that or in the tagboard. I would prefer comments for the specific series summaries, and the tagboard for not related to the summaries. As for Hibi Chouchou, I will continue it if Asahi of halftonecircle hasn’t summarized it yet.]

And, still not clearly knowing what is this ‘going steady’ thing..but ‘Sunday’ has arrived. Kawasumi is busy with karate practice and is a bit nervous. When Ryousuke asks Kawasumi where they are going to get something to eat before going home. Kawasumi says that he isn’t going. While Ryosuke wonders why, Kawasumi timidly says that he has a date with Suiren. This made Ryosuke wish him gambatte[/good luck]. Meanwhile, in Suiren’s house, Yuri is curling Suiren’s hair. Aya says that isn’t needed, just use a [baseball] cap. Then, she puts the cap on Suiren. Yuri exclaims what she is doing when it is no longer necessary for Suiren to hide because there is someone who’ll protect her. They are also going steady and everyone knows that. Aya says to wear plain and simple, skirts are forbidden. Suiren recalls Kawasumi telling her that this Sunday, after morning club activity is over, he’ll fetch her. Suiren blushes really red and pulls down the cap. Aya tells Yuri to see Suiren pulled the cap tightly down. Yuri wants Suiren to wear something cute. Aya wants her to wear a hooded sweater with a banana design. When they ask what Suiren thinks of it, Suiren has already dressed up into a long skirt. While Suiren dreamily thinks of date, Aya decides to tie Suiren’s hair to a ponytail. While Yuri argues over the ponytail with Aya, Suiren opens the curtains to see Kawasumi arriving to her house. Before Kawasumi can press the door bell, Suiren already came out. Suiren wasn’t able to sleep yesterday because she is so nervous and shy. From the first day, she was excited but as the day approaches, she becomes nervous. Her thoughts are interrupted when he says, ‘let’s go’. While at the streets, Kawasumi can only say ‘go’ and walks far away from her while saying that store seems interesting. Suiren follows and thinks of Kawasumi in casual clothes, walking together with him at the street. Then, Suiren notices a couple looking at them. She wonders if they look like boyfriend-girlfriend. Then, she overhears the couple talking about them that they absolutely won’t last a week together and would become like them who easily quarrel. Suiren felt pain. She cannot hardly keep up with Kawasumi who is walking ahead. She starts to worry for how long would they go steady together..would it be long or not. He is moving farther and farther away from her.

Kawasumi suddenly stops and turns towards her. He points at the park and shouts, ‘Sit here’. While they sit on the bench, Suiren feels pain, and realizes that it is her foot. She should have worn her ordinary shoes [not high heels]. Kawasumi suddenly stands up and says, ah. Then, he walks away which puzzles Suiren where he is going. Then, Atohira and friend arrive to see her. Arriving with some bottled drinks, Kawasumi is surprised to see the two. He blushes and exclaims what. The other guy quietly walks away as Atohira tries to tell him to wait. Atohira comments that Kawasumi really put his energy into buying drinks for his GIRLFRIEND, and would he deny it, or they are really going steady. Blushing, Kawasumi says YES. It also made Suiren blush. Atohira says is that so but her foot is bleeding, is that okay? Kawasumi notices Suiren’s foot is bleeding that he exclaims if she is alright, when it happened, how about using water to clean it. Atohira asks isn’t it because he made her walk a lot and if girls wearing this kind of shoes, it’ll immediately hurt and normally, it won’t bleed so pay attention to that. “Then, goodbye.” After Kawasumi bandaged her foot, Suiren says that he’s good at it. He tells her that it is because of karate since he bandages his own injury. He apologizes for not always noticing and made her walk for a long time. Suiren shakes her head and thinks that if he apologizes, they cannot properly get along. She keeps on shaking her head as Kawasumi stands up and says that they should go home. He bends down to carry her piggybank style. She hesitates but Kawasumi assures her that it is alright, he is used to it. She holds on his back and Kawasumi quickly runs off. Suiren hopes that they can walk again and walked further. Kawasumi apologizes to her again and says that next time, this thing will absolutely not happen. Since he mentioned next time, Suiren holds his shoulder tighter. She tells him that next time, she’ll wear sports shoes.., next time, and next, next time. Then, Kawasumi asks if it will rain. [I think] Suiren says that it will only delay and she’ll wear boots and bring umbrella. Then, he asks what about it heavily snows and typhoon. Suiren thinks if that means that he is already thinking of winter and summer. As they arrive, Suiren says that about typhoon, they’ll just think about it again when it arrives. And, he tells her that they’ll see each other tomorrow. Suiren thinks that even if she is like this, from today on, yoroshiku[/I’m under your care].

Comment: Nothing much happened on their first date and I guess in a slow paced series, so that ought to be expected. They are obviously still starting and Kawasumi is still not quite sure what to do. It seems that he just so happen to recall that he has to buy drinks for her. Maybe, he is so nervous that he is walking ahead or he just doesn’t know that they have to walk together. ^^; And, apparently, Suiren also doesn’t know because she thinks that they are okay until the other couple comments about it. She becomes nervous over the ‘next time’ but thanks to what Kawasumi said, there will be a next time and hopefully, things will improve from this first date. In a way, Atohira hinted things a bit to Kawasumi. Since they are open-minded and willing to learn from their mistake, things ought to improve. ^^ But the mention of typhoon and heavy snow, I get a feeling that Kawasumi would still fetch her even it those things happen..they don’t seem to know the word ‘cancel the date due to very bad weather’. ^^;; It would be amusing to see them do that though. =P Scans by all★wink汉化组
