Sleeping Beauty [Chapter 7]

Cover page: “The ME underneath the MASK is the REAL ME..” Recalling how surprised Yoshiharu is regarding the confirmation of Erika’s death, Yuki thinks that she didn’t know that Yoshiharu still didn’t know about Erika and it must have been a shock to him. Yuuya calls out to Yuki and thanks her for coming. Yuki apologizes for being late and tells him that she had met up with Yoshiharu. This somewhat surprises Yuuya. Yuki says that she told Yoshiharu about meeting him and asked if he wants to come along but it turns out that he didn’t know about Erika, and she carelessly told him that it gave him a fright. Yuuya says is that so, and after all, there is still that thing about Kousuke so they basically plan to tell him about it later on. Yuki apologizes for it. Putting his arm around Yuki, Yuuya says that it isn’t her fault, and later on, he’ll help her explain things clearly to Yoshiharu. He suggests that they eat dinner first. At the train station, Yuki tells Yuuya that they go to that side since there are fewer people there. Yuuya smiles and says okay. Suddenly, someone is pushed down the train tracks that people are screaming that someone fell down. Yuki turns around to see Yuuya down at the train tracks. Yuki [or someone else] is shouting for someone to help in pressing the emergency stop push button and to quickly call an attendant to come over. Holding out her hand, Yuki calls for Yuuya to quickly come over. Yuuya could barely stand up. Yuki becomes tense because there is an announcement that the train is coming. Yuki goes down the tracks and shouts for Yuuya to stand up. Teary-eyed Yuki grabs hold of him and tells him to hang in there. Yuuya groan and calls out to Yuki. The bystanders shout for them to hurry for the train is coming to the station soon. Tense Yuki grabs Yuuya tighter and tells him to quickly lie down. Yuuya seems to be in a daze that he mutters, lie down. There are people screaming that it is too late. The train has already arrived. Yuuya stares at the train’s headlights. While the others are recording it on their cellphone, the rest are screaming about calling the ambulance and if they were crushed by the train. One guy exclaims that that guy and his girlfriend have dodged it by staying underneath the platform.
Trembling Yuuya is holding Yuki tight. He pulls her face to him and asks why she also went down for what would happen if something happens to her. Crying Yuki says that she basically didn’t think about it. While Yuuya looks startled by it, Yuki hugs him tight and says that they were saved. After relaxing from looking stunned, he also hugs her tightly. While there are people investigating the incident, a woman says that it is a woman who pushed him down. A guy refutes that by saying that it is a man who pushed Yuuya down. While the two argue, the policemen decide to check the surveillance camera. By the bench, Yuuya and Yuki’s injuries were already treated. One of the policemen apologizes for interrupting and asks if Yuuya is hated by someone. Yuuya says no. They say that it might be a case of indiscriminate attack [= no motive]. While walking in the streets, Yuuya apologizes that Yuki also got injured. Yuki says that it isn’t his fault and it’s great that it is only a minor injury. Yuuya says that’s right, even if his laptop computer got crushed. Yuki says that’s too bad. Yuuya sadly says ya. Noticing his expression, Yuki touches his face and asks if he isn’t feeling well. She says that he lost quite a lot of blood and he shouldn’t force himself. Yuuya says ya, and possibly, he is a bit dizzy. Yuki tells him that she currently left home and is temporarily staying at the hotel nearby so does he want to go there and rest for a while. This surprises Yuuya. Later on, Yuuya is sound asleep in bed. Yuki thinks that she just went out to buy some drinks and he is already asleep. “He ought to be quite tired. *sits on the chair* Asumi-kun has passed away. Erika-san’s remains are also found. And now, this kind of accident happened.. even if I’m at his side, I couldn’t calm his feelings.. ..but, perhaps like this is also okay.. *smiles* Right now, Yuuya definitely doesn’t want to be alone..” Later on, Yuuya wakes up and finds Yuki has fallen asleep on the bed while sitting on the chair. He carries her to bed. His heart beat upon seeing her sexy sleeping figure. He goes on top of her and is about to kiss her but he stops. He looks at her bandaged arm and has a flustered-smile. Touching her face, Yuuya mutters that it is the first time [for him] to have this kind of feeling..
A while later, Yuki wakes up from a ringing cellphone. Yuki is surprised that they slept on the same bed. Yuuya is already sitting on the bed and answering the cellphone. On the phone, Yuuya asks Sou what’s up that he’s calling so early in the morning. “Huh? Okay, I’ll immediately go to the hospital right now.” Sitting up, Yuki asks what’s up so early in the morning. Pulling his hair down, Yuuya greets her a good morning. Yuki looks flustered upon seeing him. Yuuya says that he’ll be using the toilet to change the bandages. Yuki offers to help him. Yuuya informs her that it seems that Yoshiharu is severely injured at school and was brought at the hospital. Yuuya tells her that Sou said that the police are also there. Yuki is surprised to hear that. While carrying some bandages to the toilet where Yuuya has taken off his shirt, Yuki asks if Yoshiharu got injured after they’ve separated. “That place seems to be reference room. When I woke up, Ono-kun is no longer there.” Yuuya just glances at her and didn’t say anything. Soon, Yuuya, together with Yuki arrive at the hospital. He greets Sou and Eiji who is also there. Sou says that it is bad. “Ono, he’s dead. It is reported that his wrist has been cut and he died due to massive blood loss. I heard that he had collapsed at the deeper part of the reference room.” This made Yuki and Yuuya look tense in surprise. A plain clothes policeman says that they are currently investigating if it is suicide or murder. He asks Yuki if she is also from O University. Yuki says no. The policeman says that among the student witnesses, they have seen her with the deceased Ono-kun together so does she know any clues about this incident. Yuki looks aghast. Before she can answer, Yuuya says that he called her to school. “Afterwards, she immediately met up with me and didn’t meet with Ono-kun. *Yuki tries to say something* After we met up, we went to the station where I fell down from the platform. She jumped down to save me so she also got hurt. There are also policemen at the scene and I think that if you investigate about it, you’ll know about it.”
The policeman asks what happen afterwards. Yuuya says that they were always together. The policeman repeats what he said so Yuuya says that they were always together at the hotel where she is staying. “Always until this morning. *Yuki looks aghast and Eiji looks flustered* I think the hotel entrance’s surveillance camera ought to have videotaped it. Please go investigate it.” Outside the hospital, Yuki grabs Yuuya’s sleeve and tells him to wait. She asks him why he lied to the policeman that she didn’t meet up with Yoshiharu when she fundamentally wanted to say the truth. Gesturing to his lips [like a secret], Yuuya says that it would be troublesome if she is being suspected and it would be okay to leave this thing up to him. Yuki couldn’t answer back. She couldn’t believe that she unexpectedly lied to the police and Eiji would definitely misunderstand that thing regarding the hotel. While sweeping in front of his workplace, Eiji is called out by Yuki. She asks him if she can wait here until he gets off work because there’s something that she wants to tell him. Eiji says that didn’t he tell her that this place isn’t suitable for her to stay and if she got something to say, it is better for her to tell it to Yuuya. Yuki says that it isn’t Yuuya, it is with him whom she wants to talk with. “About that, I.. and Yuuya-kun..” Eiji interrupts, “Let me say.. *puts broom and dustpan at the side* Yuuya, he is very nice, totally broad-minded, and he is a very good person. The one who’ll be able to silently support you isn’t me, it’s Yuuya.” Holding her scarf tight, teary-eyed Yuki says, “..I, even if I’ve been rejected by you, but even now, my feelings for you is..” Eiji interrupts, “Don’t say anymore, I already have Saki.” Yuki is flustered in tears. Taking the broom again, Eiji tells her not to come back here again for it would cause trouble for the people at the store. “Understand?” Yuki tearfully says, “..I’m Saki. *Eiji looks at her* The one whom you are searching for, Matsushima Saki is me..” Blurb: “The secret that absolutely shouldn’t be uncovered. But it was uncovered by Yuki-chan.. How will Eiji confront this secret--!?”
Comment: So, Yuki is somewhat forced to confess who she is. The thing is, would Eiji believe her? He might think that it is her desperate effort to get him and forget about Saki. Yuki doesn’t exactly have proof that she is Saki. Hm..maybe they should get some sort of DNA test or something but then, that might take time. Of course, it would be test for Eiji because if he didn’t believe what Yuki says right there and right now, Yuki might be hurt and he’ll regret it later on when he learns the truth. Well, things are indeed a bit of a set-up for the complicated love triangle. Because of Yuki’s concern for him, Yuuya seems to be misinterpreting her feelings for him. It would be better if she had clarified it to him or do that really soon or else, he might think that Eiji betrayed him. I’m still wondering if I should overthink Yuuya’s somewhat strange reactions here and some of his actions. Perhaps, he just so happen to take it lightly about Saki accidentally telling Yoshiharu about Erika and just want to give Yoshiharu time to cope with it. I wonder if he was really pushed down the train tracks or it was self-inflicted. His reaction during that incident seems weird – in a daze, alert enough to save them both, startled, etc. Is it just because of that incident or something else? Okay, it is a bit idiotic for Yuki to just hug him there and wait for the train to hit them. ^^;; Where is the cool Yuki like in chapter 1? Yuuya also intentionally lies to the police with the excuse to spare Yuki the trouble for being a suspect. That might be problematic later on and might be used by Yuuya to blackmail Yuki in order not to make her a suspect. He also probably deliberately mentioned that he and Yuki were together at the hotel. He already has doubts that something is going on between Yuki and Eiji during the Erika search party at the ruins before. Also, the one whom Yoshiharu would most likely call at that time is Yuuya but then, what would be his motive? Apparently, Yuki didn’t forget about Yoshiharu, she just assumed that he just left her there so she didn’t bother look for him around the place. ^^;; Whoever killed him is most probably the same one who killed Kousuke. Since Yuki passed out during those times, could she be the killer? For the police to consider suicide, aside from a possible murder/foul play, could it be that Yoshiharu’s injury is only a slit wrist? If that is so, it seems unlikely Yuki can do that to a guy who can easily shake her to a cabinet. Hm..I wonder if the one who is killing them now, is the same as the one with the ones who killed Erika? It doesn’t seem to be the same. Maybe it is Shiki killing them off so he can have Yuki back? Something like he followed Yuki or used GPS to know where she is, killed Yoshiharu then tried to kill Yuuya? If there is police involvement here, I think they ought to find it already very suspicious to have successive incidents happening to this group of people lately unless Yuuya pulled some strings to cover up some things. 5. Hi, Ms. Kat! hows your week? just read 7chapters of this manga, though its not that catchy from its 1st chapter, its getting more and more interesting and intriguing throughout the next chapters.. every chapter has its own mystery to reveal and another question or mystery to wait answer for.. maybe this will be a short story manga because its fast paced.

I really think Yuki is Saki, having those dreams and sudden memories coming back..and those confessions from her brother Shiki..and the connections between the group of Yuuya and Eiji.. and how one by one things/evidences suddenly started to appear when she reunited with the group. coincidentally

About who the culprit is, it seems that Shiki is suspicious because he knew the matters about Saki and the guys; knowing he's a doctor who is 'genius' and the skeleton being intact stating that the culprit is very talented and may have knowledge about human anatomy. Sou also seem to know something that others dont know, or maybe he is also investigating about the matters silently. Yuuya doesn't look suspicious to me until the scene where Yuuya just glances at Yuki when she said about meeting Yoshiharu. As for Yuki, she seems to have split personality or something. she is quiet and shy at first but suddenly became provocative. and the incident where she had blood on her shirt..

Well, I really thought "Sleeping Beauty" is like other Shoujo Manga which is romantic-comedy or something. But does this Sleeping Beauty means something really happens when she sleeps/ lost consciousness? Can't wait for what the next chapters will reveal..

    Thank you Ms. Kat..

    1. Well, week is okay..still nursing a cold ^^;

Ya..it also gives me that impression that this will be short but of course, it depends on the mangaka's capability to prolong it with more twists ^^

Yup..it is really too much of a coincidence.

True..regarding those observations. They are the suspicious ones. I'm wondering if the ones who killed the two guys are the same as the ones who killed/attacked the two girls.

Hehe, is that so. It seems to be. I thought it is because she always tend to 'sleep'/drowsy/unconscious :P

      You're welcome ^-^

  6. I hope Yuki is not schizophrenic. Why do I feel that she was the one who pushed Yuuya? And the title, 'Sleeping Beauty'... Hmmm.

    1. Ah..you think so. I assumed she is walking ahead of him so..

    2. yeah, i think she is walking ahead, that's why she didn't notice that Yuuya was already at the railtracks.. but did Yuuya really did this to himself??

    3. Hm..not to sure because even the witnesses there aren't too sure about it.

Actually, if he was the one who 'attacked' Yoshiharu, that incident is an alibi for both Yuki and him. Something like 'I couldn't be the one who harmed him because I also got injured'.
