17-sai Kiss to Dilemma [Chapter 13]

Ririka and Yuu are eating together in her class. Her classmates are surprised that those two are going steady and they heard that the two hugged yesterday at the karaoke. Blushing Ririka is uneasy over her gossiping classmates who were looking at her. It is because yesterday, Yuu told everyone that they are going steady. She glances at Yuu. She is surprised over how calm he is when obviously everyone is looking at them so how come he doesn’t mind it. [He seems to be just looking at her.] As she eats, Ririka thinks that there are times when she doesn’t understand Yuu. Suddenly, Yuu removes a grain of rice from her cheek and eats it. He says that it is sticking on her face. Ririka and the others are surprised by it. Blushing Ririka asks what he is doing. Puzzled Yuu asks if he should have left it be, and doesn’t she mind it. The other girls are amazed by it. Tsubasa sadly glances at them. He clenches his fist and mutters, “--..Why that guy. He is obviously a coward and a weakling, who doesn’t have any strong points at all.. *recalls Yuu saying that she is not only his cousin, she is currently his girlfriend* Bastard..that girl Tanaka[/guesswork from 田中; Ann?] obviously said that she isn’t going steady--.. During the flower viewing, Ririka herself also said so.. *recalls Yuu telling him something before taking Ririka away from him during the flower viewing festival* ..I should have noticed it earlier. Moriya would absolutely want to do something. Darn, darn, darn. *leaves the room* Starting yesterday, I’ve always been avoiding them. This is really not a bit like me at all--..” Then, Ririka overhears some girls asking where Tsubasa is when they want to eat with him. The guys say that he was here a while ago. Ririka looks thoughtful. At the roof, Tsubasa is lying down on the floor while listening to music. He notices a shadow and it is Ririka looking down on him. Holding a can of coffee, Ririka says, hi. Removing one of the earphones, he asks what it is. Ririka says that she brought a return gift regarding yesterday for thanks to him, she had fun. Then, the can slips from her fingers and fell right into Tsubasa’s face. Ouch. Tsubasa angrily shouts that it hurts. Ririka apologizes. He asks what’s up with her. Ririka timidly tells him that isn’t it, she wants to thank him. Turning to his side, he says, really..then, thank you very much. Ririka is at a loss over what to say. She angrily thinks that this guy really infuriates her when he was obviously quite nice yesterday. “In the end, I’m not good in dealing with this guy.”

After quietly looking flustered, Tsubasa sits up and asks how she thinks of him. After looking surprised, Ririka says what, it’s very important ‘friend’. Tsubasa asks what about that guy, why she went steady with that guy. Ririka blushes. She tells him that Yuu confessed on the flower viewing festival day. Tsubasa ask afterwards, what does she like about him. While Ririka timidly wonders what it is, Tsubasa stands up in front of her and says that guy has no good point at all. “It’s just because he confessed and you went steady with him? You’re quite easy.” Taken aback, Ririka shouts that even if it is Yuu, he has a lot of good points. “He’s nice. During critical moments, he’s quite dependable. And he even caught that underwear thief!!” Tsubasa asks is that all. Ririka timidly says that’s it. Tsubasa tells her that up to that degree, he can also do those kinds of things. Looking away, Ririka asks what he is talking about, for doesn’t he always like to tease people. Tsubasa says that treating her well is very easy. “If it is me- I can do a lot more things for you. *holds a strand of her hair* Be with me, you’ll definitely be very happy.” After blushing, Ririka pushes him away. She wonders if he is saying..but he said that she’s his important friend. Looking away, Ririka tells him not to be like that for she doesn’t like joking around. “Yoshii, what are you saying? I would misunderstand that you like me, okay!?” She is startled when Tsubasa says that he’s serious. Looking away again, Ririka exclaims no, she is currently going steady with Yuu. Tsubasa says that it is okay. “I’m a lot better than that guy. If you want to have a boyfriend, choose me.” Flustered Ririka says that he obviously said that they are friends, and she’ll be very troubled this way. Then, she runs off, leaving flustered Tsubasa. While running at the hallway, Ririka thinks that it is obviously quite fun[/happy] being together, and obviously their relationship had become good. “Obviously, thought that [we] can be very good friends--..” While the teacher is teaching the lesson, Yuka looks at Yuu who is looking out the window. Yuka thinks that he is looking at Ririka’s classroom again. Their school is u-shaped so Yuu can see Ririka’s classroom across his classroom at any time. Twirling her hair, Yuka thinks that she is doomed to be heart-broken for he is already going steady with Ririka, and fundamentally, it is also impossible for him pay attention to her. The teacher calls out to Yuu to come to the blackboard and answer the question.

To Yuka’s surprise, Yuu snubs the teacher. She taps on Yuu’s table and whispers to him that the teacher is calling him. The teacher stands in front of Yuu’s table and shouts if he is listening. Just when he is about to call Yuu again, Yuu quietly stands up and starts answering the math questions on the blackboard. Then, Yuu finishes answering the questions. Everyone is shock over how fast he finishes and he answered everything even the ones that they haven’t learned yet. They wonder if Yuu is actually quite intelligent. The teacher is aghast as he mutters that all of it is correct. Then, he is surprised that Yuu is going out of the classroom. He shouts where Yuu is going when class is still going on. Yuu tells him that for him, there’s no need to listen to this lesson. With that, Yuu left the teacher calling out his name. Surprised Yuka wonders what’s up with Yuu for he unexpectedly showed his [true] nature in front of everyone. Troubled Ririka is in the library. She had skipped class because she has no way of facing Tsubasa. “Even if he said that he likes me, I also felt quite troubled by it. When he said that I’m his friend..I’m obviously quite happy..” She is surprised when Yuu calls out to her from behind. Turning towards him, Ririka asks if he didn’t go to class. Wiping his sweat, Yuu says that he saw from the window that she and Tsubasa aren’t in class. “What had happened? *hugs her* I want to help you out. ..Don’t hesitate and tell me.” Seeing that Yuu is perspiring a lot, Ririka wonders that upon realizing that she is here, Yuu quickly came. “..no matter when, Yuu would always worry about me. –Ah, in the end, I like Yuu.. Even if he is a coward, a crybaby, still quite inferior, I like Yuu.” Ririka asks if he isn’t going to class, the teacher will be angry. Yuu tells her that she is more important. Ririka blushes. She pulls Yuu’s ear that he tells her that it hurts. Then, to his surprise, Ririka kisses him on the cheek. Blushing Yuu calls out her name. Ririka stands up and looks away. Then, she smiles at him and tells him to go back to the classroom. Ririka thinks that she couldn’t tell Yuu about Tsubasa because Yuu would definitely be worried. “It’s alright. By myself, I’ll think of how to resolve this-” Later on, Tsubasa sees Yuu at the shoe lockers. Tsubasa says that he’s blocking the way, move. Yuu grabs his arm and tells surprised Tsubasa, “Yoshii-kun, let’s have a showdown.” Blurb: “Finally, direct confrontation!!”

Comment: This chapter is quite fun for there’s no ‘dilly-dallying’ and the two guys are quite ‘direct to the point’. It is amusing how Ririka is nervous over the gossips and typical of Yuu, he doesn’t care at all over that, his concern and eyes are only towards her. Tsubasa is believably acting like the guy who ‘lost’ because the other guy moved first and fast. He underestimated Yuu and to add insult to injury, Ririka dropped a can of coffee on his face. ^^; Tsubasa has finally ‘confessed’ in a way and he’s quite blunt to ask what Ririka likes about Yuu. Indeed, if it is just ‘treating her well’, Tsubasa can also do that. It is an interesting point on ‘is it love’ because the other party is nice and everything towards the other. There has to be something more. Unfortunately for him, Yuu got her first, what he said about being her friend backfired and he has a history of being a ‘teaser’. Anyway, it seems that in the end, Ririka still like Yuu than Tsubasa whom she seems to consider more as a friend. Yuu must have been quite irritated that he showed his true nature in class and it doesn’t help that the teacher decided to ‘pick on’ him. I’m beginning to think of Yuu as some sort of superhero. Whenever he removes the hood, he’ll do something really amazing and show his ‘dark’ side. Obviously, he is somewhat insecure about Tsubasa especially how he affects Ririka. Ririka has her reasons for not confiding to him her problem but Yuu is very sharp and it seems he is going to nip the ‘problem’ from the bud. Ah, very proactive indeed. ^^ I wonder what that showdown would be. Somehow, I think it will be about skateboarding. ^^; But as I’ve mentioned before, things are intense with these two that I won’t be surprised if they try to beat each other up for Ririka. =P Yuu also has to be careful and not make Tsubasa the ‘victim/poor guy’ especially since that is what he did before to make Ririka stick to his side.
