Tonari no Kaibutsu-kun [Chapter 48] -Fin-

Last Chapter: Graduation Ceremony. Blurb: “A lot of things happened in high school life, and [it] will also reach the final day..” At the gym where Asako and others stand up, Shizuku is the one giving the graduation speech. “—just like this, we can have a substantial time because here, we have met irreplaceable friends. Today, on this beautiful day, we would cry together and smile together in bidding this school goodbye. We vow that we will put the memories of this place in our heart, [and] strongly take a brand new step. Graduation representative, Mizutani Shizuku.” After the ceremony, the students outside are chatting, taking pictures and crying about seeing each other again. Chizuru commends Shizuku’s speech to be quite amazing and she is quite moved over the lots of memories part. Shizuku asks is that so, and because it is quite troublesome so she only copied a model essay. After she’s surprised by that, Chizuru gloomily mutters that until the end, she’s still very ordinary. Shizuku tells her not to mind it because for a lot of people, it is very good that Chizuru’s ordinariness is an applicable[/practical] ordinariness. Chizuru looks thoughtful as she looks the others. She says, “..graduation. Upon entering school, I fundamentally didn’t think that it will be quite fun.” Shizuku asks why. Chizuru says that it is because upon entering the school gate, she tripped and she’s very afraid of.. Shizuru comments that Chizuru is actually a subject for everyone to talk about. Chizuru says that Shizuku has changed. Sasayan’s baseball friends call out to them for a picture. Holding out her camera, Shizuku also wants a picture and everyone please adopt a ‘sword dance’ formation. Soon, they did a slightly wacky pose. Then, Hachisaki exclaims that is great and she wants one, too. Shizuku says that she’s quite happy to and they are going to do a ‘passing youth day’ formation. Then, Iyo arrives with some flower bouquets. She calls out to Shizuku and Chizuru to congratulate them for graduating. She says that Shizuku’s speech is outstanding and even if she had said a lot of arrogant things to them both.. She becomes teary eyed and flustered. She exclaims that even them senpai-s are quite unsophisticated but now that they’ve graduated, she would be quite lonely. She offers the flowers to the two who is looking dark over Iyo’s remark. Touching Iyo’s face, Shizuku tells her not to cry for her sending off words is quite unique. Iyo cries even more on Shizuku’s shoulder. This made Chizuru comment that yes, in the end, [she] changed. Looking puzzled, Shizuku she hands over her diploma holder to Chizuru. Sobbing Iyo tells Shizuku that she thinks that it would be better for Shizuku not to continue having that hairstyle upon reaching college.

Tonari no Kaibutsu-kun [Chapter 47]

Cover page: “Just thinking[/felt] that the you, who seated next to me[/tonari] exists, everyday becomes warm.” Title: Third Year Student/s. At her house, Shizuku looks at Takaya who is wearing his junior high school uniform. She is really hyped over this. Their father gets a camera and takes a picture of them both together. It is spring and time to go back to school for their third year. Still reading, Shizuku goes to school with struggling Nagoya under her arm. Looking at the school board, Natsume is shock for she isn’t classmates with Shizuku, Chizuru and some of Sasayan’s friends in 3D but she is with Sasayan and others in 3E. At the fastfood, Iyo is ranting at Chizuru, [I presume] who is surrounded by Mabo and Tomio. Shizuku and Yamaken are both studying. Then, Shizuku looks at lifeless Asako. Carrying their food, Sasayan seemed to ask what the matter is. Holding a paper, Asako cries that during their Kyoto graduation field trip, they are strictly made to move around by their own class section. Yamaken and Sasayan made a side comment which infuriates Asako and made her leave the group. Soon, at Nara Park to feed the deers, Asako gets in the picture taking with Shizuku’s group. She wants to join 3D but Sasayan pulls her away. At night, Asako even slept on the floor to be with Shizuku and Chiruzu. Sasayan and others had a pillow fight. Then, it is summer. Shizuku and others watch Sasayan’s baseball game. Chizuru sees Takaya heading out of his house. After Chizuru rings the door bell, she comments that Takaya has grown taller. Takaya looks smitten. And, it is hiking time at the mountains together with everyone including Yamaken’s group. And, another close encounter between Sasayan and Asako. Holding hands, Sasayan walks her home and apparently, one of her geta [sandals] broke. During summer review, Shizuku finishes ahead of time so she bids Yamaken farewell. Yamaken notices that she left her pen. He takes it and puts in his shirt’s pocket. [souvenir? =P] Then, Yuuzan, together with Andou, crashes in with Mitsuyoshi. He brought a lot of wine, doughnuts, pizza and a box of chocolates. After Mitsuyoshi took a bath, drunk Yuuzan rants over a picture of his drunk father with women. He is angry over this scandal and punches the magazine. Then, he laughs with Mitsuyoshi.

Tonari no Kaibutsu-kun [Chapter 46]

In room 1003, Haru is intently looking at some Japanese doll, a bottle of insects, etc. He recalls that Shizuku had just called him to tell him that right now, she is going home from the library so if it is okay, can she drop by at his house. Lying in bed, Haru is surprised by that and wonders what he should do. End flashback. Title: home•sweet•home Blurb: “Finally the two are mutually connected. Currently going steady from now on, what would it be like!?” Haru thinks that no matter what, he must first quickly bring out his collector’s items[/precious objects] and it ought to be okay for him to give these to her. After staring at his stuff, he turns around the Daruma doll towards him and says that is much better. Then, he recalls that it seems that she has somewhat mentioned about this during New Year. Flashback: Carrying a tray of drinks, Haru asked everyone if they are already leaving when it is obviously January 1st, and it is simply okay to make the kids of his house. Someone commented that Haru really makes people know that he is expressing his loneliness. Then, he noticed that Shizuku is looking at him. He asked her what it is. She told him that she’ll come back again and next time, it will just the two of them. End flashback. Haru starts imagining himself as a meerkat. Meerkat looks left and right, then walks together with another meerkat. They snuggle. And then, meerkat is standing behind the other. Ding dong. Haru is surprised since his imagination is interrupted. It is Shizuku who greets him a good afternoon, and sorry if she is early. Flustered Haru says no, no problem, sorry for making you come [<- being polite], please come in. While looking around, Haru excitedly tells her that since she came here before, he thinks that she already knows that on this side is the toilet, this is my room, and even if it is a bit dirty, please go in. Giving her a 3kg dumbbell, Haru tells her to listen well, even if he thinks that nothing will happen but just in case something happens, take this so that she can fight when trying to run away. Puzzled Shizuku just says okay. Then, he happily smiles and says that Shizuku is in his house. Holding up a wrapped bento, Shizuku tells him that she brought onigiri [rice balls] that they can eat together later on. Haru shows her the washing machine and tells her that he washes his clothes once a week. While Shizuku looks at a dried up carrot, Haru says that the refrigerator is broken so right now, they eat instant noodles. Showing her his treasures, Haru urges her to pick one. [<- He arranged it like some tribal offering] Shizuku declines and says that she doesn’t want it. Jumping on bed, Haru exclaims that this is Mitsuyoshi’s bed and since two years ago, he is sleeping alone by himself and it is so funny. Shizuku says that she doesn’t know why it is funny. In the messy kitchen, Shizuku looks at a burnt pot with chopsticks sticking out of it. While eating some onigiri[/round dumplings?], Haru says, “..By the way, why did you come here for?” After commenting that one can’t cook soup here, Shizuku looks at him and replies, “..you don’t know? *Haru is puzzled* ..*blush* Can’t I go in your room today?” Haru looks surprised and the meerkat is screaming.

Tonari no Kaibutsu-kun [Chapter 45]

Cover page: “Making my heart beat endlessly, it is HARU’s fault!? Spring has arrived! For the first time, Shizuku cried in front of Haru..” Top 5 Popularity poll: 1. Yamaken - “This is of course, inevitable”, 2. Haru - “I’m the only number 1 in Shizuku’s heart”, 3. Sasayan – “I’m so happy to be able to get into the top 3. Thank you everyone!”, 4. Asako – “Number one female character~ (cry)” and 5. Shizuku – “I’m the lead character..” Haru looks at crying Shizuku and asks, “What is it? Does your stomach hurt, Shizuku?” Shizuku replies, “(Every time I feel hurt, I choose to run away..) No.. (In order not to let myself get hurt, I’m always all alone by myself..) I just feel very happy. (My heart is overflowing with this feeling that it is hard to stop it. Once all alone, the two of us gradually mature, and now, finally [our] feelings are connected--.)” Title: Warm Dawn. Shizuku tearfully tells Haru that she thought that Haru would definitely not be around anymore because she said some really mean words. “..why, I obviously didn’t come here to talk about this. (-just like a child, I can only push through shoving and bumping, not knowing how to express my own feelings) This isn’t what I want to tell you. *sobs* I originally do not want to hurt you. ..sob, please do not hate me..” Haru touches her face and thinks, “Why did I think that she is only a strong person. Thinking that she doesn’t have times when she is weak.” Haru hugs Shizuku and says, “I’m sorry, Shizuku.” Surprised Shizuku asks why he is apologizing when she was the one who said those mean things. Haru replies, “I cannot be hurt merely because of those words so it is alright even if it is said. You can even say a bit more of those words, Shizuku. Because of this thing, I won’t choose to leave you.” Shizuku looks at Haru in surprise. Haru smiles at her and Shizuku starts to cry again. “Haru.” Haru freaks out and exclaims why she is crying again. Wiping her tears, Shizuku says, “Be..because.. is this real?” Haru looks surprised and starts laughing. Haru makes Shizuku wipe her tears on his shirt. Then, he licks her cheek. This made Shizuku blush. And, after looking at each other, they kiss. Scene: Young Shizuku is reading a book and a young Haru gives her a flower. At the back of Mitsuyoshi’s game center, some things including the tanuki statue is packed at the back of a van truck. Standing at the back of the truck, Yuuzan says that it is gratifying to be able to reach this stage today, and it took a lot of effort. Mitsuyoshi laughs and says, ‘good job’. Andou asks Mitsuyoshi if he still has things that he wants to throw away. Mitsuyoshi says that there’s nothing more, thanks. Mitsuyoshi comments to Yuuzan that it is quite surprising for he had really made up his mind.

Tonari no Kaibutsu-kun [Chapter 44]

“I came to tell you once again to try going steady with me.” Yamaken scowls and asks what’s with Shizuku’s expression. Looking aghast and tense, trembling Shizuku apologizes for there is totally no movement on that aspect and she was certain that they have already ended that topic. Yamaken apologizes for saying it right now. Looking at the side, he says that [he told her] ‘can’t be friends’ is because being with her, like this, he still thinks of her. Recalling Yuuzan asking if he is afraid of getting hurt, Yamaken thinks, “That’s right. EVEN IF REJECTED YET STILL WON’T GIVE UP, who can do such an unsightly thing but in the end, after meeting [her], things became like this.” Shizuku sweatdrops and says that even if there is more or less some mistake but at the moment, she is going steady with Haru so where is his moral ethic. Yamaken thinks that Shizuku can really attack in a different way, and the current him really doesn’t want to be asked that question. Yamaken repeats that just now, he said that he suits her more. “If it is me, you won’t feel unease and you won’t feel distressed. I can cherish you more.” Meanwhile, Asako groans over this dangerous ambiance. She starts scolding Haru for not hindering them when he is Shizuku’s boyfriend. Haru says that maybe they are just discussing textbook lessons. Asako shouts what nonsense he is saying. Worried that things are advancing with those two, Asako starts crawling back into the bushes. Haru asks Sasayan which part of Asako does he likes. Sasayan says no comment. Thinking that it would be better if they fix things up first [<- sorry, not sure because words are too small], Sasayan asks Haru if he had talked with Shizuku and did they reconcile. Haru timidly says generally, though he’s not quite clear if it’s okay, or not yet. While trembling and angry, Haru tells Sasayan to quickly pull Asako back in for his body really wants to straightforwardly jump in, and he is quite scared what he might do. Sasayan sweatdrops and thinks that it turns out that Haru is really suppressing himself. While in the bushes, Asako stops when she hears Yamaken saying that Shizuku wants him to be her friend so that is saying that she had more or less considered that he is essential. “And if it is me, we could have a friendly competition [/‘cultivate one's character by studying hard’].” Shizuku asks him what friendly competition. Thinking that even if he is sorry about it but he’ll use this way to convince Shizuku, Yamaken says that is right, on the aspect of taking exams. While Asako is shock, Sasayan thinks that Shizuku took the bait. Haru is furious at Yamaken and mentally wants Shizuku to refuse. To Asako and Haru’s horror, Shizuku is actually considering it. Asako couldn’t help but stand up and shouts what’s up with that for even if it is Haru, he also has a lot of good points. “Haru-kun, he likes animals!!”

Tonari no Kaibutsu-kun [Chapter 43]

Title: 2 people in a dream. [This is before Yamaken came to the school->] In the classroom, Yano[/Shitayanagi] gave Haru a notebook which contains the notes that he missed while he was absent. Haru is touched by that for Yano is unexpectedly nice to him. Taking the notebook, Haru thanks him and says that he’ll treasure it forever. “Oh ya, I also brought a souvenir back.” Yano asks if it is a NASA autograph. Haru says that it is nori [/laver or seaweed sheets used for sushi or can be eaten by itself]. Yano is quite speechless while holding a pack of nori. At the door, Asako tells Haru that this nori is delicious. Haru notices that Shizuku passes by and uses the notebook to cover her face so that Haru won’t see her. Haru goes to the door to look at her and she quickly walks away. It turns out that Shizuku is eating nori, too. =P At the art room, Asako is making an outrageous pose as Shizuku tries to draw her. Asako asks her if she doesn’t want to reconcile with Haru, and is she ‘doing nothing but smile’. Somewhat irritated Shizuku says that she knows, she knows but knowing is one thing but she just seeing Haru’s face, her legs would start to tremble. Asako exclaims that it is alright for if she is really hated, and even if it is possible that until graduation, he also won’t look at her but she, no matter when, will make this her own issue, and she is already prepared to grumble. [<- I think that she means if Haru snubs Shizuku, Asako will bug Haru yet still be with Shizuku] This made Shizuku aghast and depressed. While copying a ridiculous pose by a male classmate, Sasayan tells Shizuku that it is alright for he thinks that Haru definitely also wants to reconcile with her. Shizuku blushes a bit over this and Asako pouts [<- probably because Sasayan is more comforting than her]. While walking at the hallway, feeling light Shizuku thinks that since Sasayan said that, it is most probably true. She decides to quickly find Haru. By the window, a couple of girls are telling Haru to move to the right a bit and quickly save it. Haru is on the branch of a tree trying to reach out to the cat. Haru tells them that if he moves forward, he will fall down. While the cat is meow-ing, Haru notices Shizuku quickly running away at the hallway.

Title: Merry-go-round. There is a missing poster of Haru on the bulletin board at Mitsuyoshi’s place. It is noted that if anyone has seen someone similar to the photo attached, contact Asako. There is a funny note below which says that people shouldn’t get close to the person [Haru] or else, they might get hurt, and in case they have found him, don’t start a conversation with him, contact her first..‘Life first [priority]’ =P Asako groans and calls out where Haru is and what is he doing. She tearfully wonders out loud if Haru is somewhere alone and hungry or he had fought with someone and he can’t move at all. Mitsuyoshi tries to tell Asako that it isn’t a bit useful putting that poster on his shop. Sasayan wonders if Asako is treating Haru like a lost dog. Sasayan asks why Asako is so concerned about Haru even though he is also worried. Asako says that it is because Shizuku is pretending to be totally not concerned, and as a girl, during this kind of time, friends should discuss this big issue together. “Everyone talking together at the same time, giving all one’s energy in making a decision. ..even if I never have any experience doing that, but I’m quite drawn to that kind of thing..” There is a flashback of girls talking together about a certain guy liking Asako during junior high and one of them said, “I knew early on that I shouldn’t be friends with Natsume.” Asako says that if there is anything that she can do, whatever it is, she wants to help. “Mitti won’t discuss anything with me and we are friends.” Sasayan looks thoughtful. Then, Asako starts muttering that goes for Haru, too. “If he had any trouble, even if it’s just a word, he should have talked it over with me. What does those two think of me? Ah, just by thinking of that makes me want to cry again-” Sasayan tells Asako that it is okay, Haru will come back in a few days. Then, Sasayan notices some guys from his junior high who are now going to a commerce school. Asako sheepishly laughs and apologizes about not noticing that she’s complaining all by herself. She says that next, after finally sticking the posters up, their goal for today are pineapple buns. Sasayan apologizes to her and says that he saw his friends so sorry, she can go home first. Asako exclaims if she is going to buy a pineapple bun all by her lonesome. Starting to leave, Sasayan apologizes and says that’s it for him for today. Asako is shock, angry and aghast for Sasayan obviously said he wanted to eat. Angrily walking home, Asako is furious that they would always say friend and friend, but what is she. “What’s so amazing about having a male friend!! Sasayan, he.. confessed to me but.. [he acts like] it totally doesn’t seem like a big deal..!? *She had been intently watching Sasayan acting normally when greeting his friends* Forget it, isn’t this very good?! Wasn’t I the one who told him to give it up!? *angrily looks up with folded arms* Heck, I don’t care about Sasayan. I’ll just wait for Haru-kun to come back and we’ll eat pineapple bun together.. *looks sad* .. Haru-kun, come back soon..”

Cover page: “Television anime adaptation finally starts!! Everyone bravely confronting oneself, once again, looking ahead.. An irreplaceable being, evoking limitless thoughts[/longing]--” Title: Two Weeks After. Narration: “It has already been two weeks since Haru didn’t come to school. Accompanied by his friends, Yano [Shitayanagi] calls out to Shizuku from her classroom. Shizuku greets him a good afternoon and asks what the matter is. Yano asks her to ask Haru on his behalf for a signature of a NASA astronaut. Yano says that he really likes UFO type of stuff. Puzzled yet deadpan Shizuku tells him to wait, is Haru currently in NASA. Yano asks if it isn’t so, but that is what the rumors say. The other friend says that isn’t Haru hospitalized after fighting with one of the four kings from a business high school. Glasses friend asks didn’t Haru went to Tottori Sandy Dunes. Someone says that they are wrong, Haru is taken away by some research institute. While Shizuku is utterly speechless over all of this, a girl with friend passes by, to tell Shizuku that Haru forgot to water the flower terrace. Shizuku remembers Haru saying that she, Yuuzan, and everyone at the party are the same and they should all get lost. She thinks that every since that day, she didn’t see Haru again. She obviously always turns her cellphone on but there is no phone call. Then, some glasses guy calls out to her and timidly asks if Haru would want to join the Go [Japanese chess-like strategy board game] club. Shizuku tells him to ask Haru himself. She wonders if this place is some sort of information center. She looks serious and thinks that in the end, it is because of her. By the building outside, after school dismissal, Nagoya is wandering around. By the stairs, Chizuru tells Sasayan and Asako that Saeko-sensei [紗子] that there is no problem with the number of absences and discarding how Haru normally is, his attitude in life is actually serious. Sasayan says that he had asked Boss [Mitsuyoshi] about it and apparently, Haru didn’t come home either. He wonders out loud what’s up with Haru for this is quite unexpected. Tearful Asako tells them that Shizuku would only confirm to her that she had a quarrel with Haru but she [Asako] still couldn’t contact Haru. Sasayan asks if the two broke up. Asako exclaims in disbelief as to what Sasayan is saying. Sasayan tells her that if it is that, it would make sense like after breaking up with Shizuku, Haru would no longer have any reason to come to school. Asako exclaims again in disbelief.

Cover page: “Happy 15th Dessert [magazine] Anniversary!!!!! Volume 10 will come out on August 10th!! Anime showing on October 2012!!” Title: Going to see the World[/‘Come and see his world’ seems more right ^^;] Blurb: “Shizuku and Haru had bid farewell(!?) to Yuuzan’s birthday party. Afterwards, the two had come to have some development. Let us start by going back to Haru’s past..” It is the middle of summer and the cicadas are chirping. The brothers are reading books in the living room. Yuuzan read out loud, “And then, Mother Rabbit said, ‘If you become a sailboat to run away, I will become the wind so that I can blow you to the place where I want you to go.’” Haru is also reading out loud, “Belong to the insect class of the Lepidoptera order, the swallowtail’s habitat is.. Okinawa islands, apart from other places. You can gather them at the hilltop’s meadows or other places where it can easily be found.” Yuuzan looked at his brother then started to shout, “Auntie, Auntie-!” While hanging the clothes to dry, an older woman said that she is coming. “What is it, young master Yuuzan?” Excited Yuuzan shouted for her to look, Haru can unexpectedly read this kind of book. Holding his book, Haru said that he found it at the bookstore. Aunt said that it is an insect illustration book. “Ah, young master Haru always read that. He really likes that kind of living things. Ugh! Young master Haru, how come you’re all covered in pee[/urine]!!” Yuuzan proudly told Haru that he is amazing for right now, those are the things that he[Yuuzan] can’t understand. “In the future, will you become a famous insect doctor!?” Haru blushed a bit while looking at happy Yuuzan. Narration: “Generally, that was my first memory.” Later on, the aunt is talking with someone on the phone. “—Yes, yes, I understand.” Sitting on top of the tree, Haru held out his hand to a dark colored butterfly. Haru said that it is a Chinese Windmill [species of red-bodied swallowtail butterfly, Atrophaneura alcinous] Then, he noticed Yuuzan running towards him. Haru happily called out to him to tell him that he had found the Chinese Windmill’s flight path, and at that side, there is a bud moth [<- I’m guessing that because I can’t find the English name. It is something like a black-white leaf moth, literally] Yuuzan shouted for Haru to be happy for they can go back. “Go back to father’s side!”

Tonari no Kaibutsu-kun [Chapter 39]

Narration: “How come I’m attracted to him? I always thought that it is inevitable that my grades are quite outstanding because I’ve invested a lot of energy and effort in it. Studying hard is actually a kind of method, the only way to enrich my heart. My path is quite straight. *image of Shizuku’s mother* I only need to look ahead and that’s it. Really. Fundamentally, I only need this and I’m satisfied.” Title: Shizuku. All dressed and made-up, Shizuku goes out of the salon and calls out to Haru. She apologizes for the wait because the beautician did a lot of things, and these eyelashes are quite difficult to bear with. Puzzled, she asks Haru what’s up for he looks surprised and he kept staring at her. Haru says that it is nothing, let’s go. He quickly walks away. Shizuku thinks that it took 2 hours to change and the birthday party at Haru’s house is.. Then, she notices how she looks at a glass window. She starts to turn to the side and look at herself. To her surprise, Haru is quietly watching her. Embarrassed, Shizuku exclaims that it isn’t so, it is just because she is a bit like an ojousama [/milady] and it is only the clothes. Haru smiles. Holding out his hand to her, he says that he also think that way. Shizuku blushes and takes his hand. Smoking while waiting at the car, Andou exclaims that this is really. Holding Shizuku’s hand, Andou exclaims that this is perfect, this is what they say as ‘clothes make the man’. “Like this, you can add some radiance to Mr. Yuuzan’s birthday party. Then, Miss Shizuku, please get in the car!!” Haru is surprised by Andou’s remark. After Haru [seems to] punch Andou and goes in front of Shizuku [to protect her], Andou apologizes for talking too much and he’ll be depending on Haru not to be easily provoked [during the party]. While driving the two in the car, Andou says, “Today, after this ends, young master, you will be able to attain your freedom!!”

Good News: Tonari no Kaibutsu-kun and Sukitte Ii Na Yo will be made into an anime. Two popular series will have an anime series simultaneously. Both will be out on 2012 Autumn. ^^ For the official webpages, click the ‘titles’ on this paragraph.

Narration: “Why do I always resign myself into things that I shouldn’t care about and yet, unexpectedly makes me worried.” Shizuku asks, “Birthday party?” Yuuzan says that is right and he almost forgot to tell her. “It will be on next, next month and if it is convenient, Shizuku-chan, bring Haru along.” After a pause, Shizuku says that he obviously hated Haru and yet, he would even call Haru to attend. “I really cannot understand what you are thinking, Yuuzan-san.” While Takaya is yawning, Yuuzan laughs and says how he is going to say it, well, this is something wherein he can’t involve his own feelings. “There is an always this reminding old geezer of the family, who perhaps is a bit demanding, saying that if on that day, we brothers weren’t there, he definitely would have many complaints. Haha So I think that by inviting Shizuku-chan, then Haru would definitely also come..” Blurb: “The Shizuku after hearing Yuuzan-san disclosing his feelings. Her answer is..” Thinking that Yuuzan is too willful, Shizuku tells him that she will seriously think about it but before that, we still have the cultural festival. “Ah, that’s right, Yuuzan-san, in the movie theater, if you were to sleep all by yourself in there, like that, you’ll easily catch a cold.” This surprises Yuuzan. He says okay, he’ll pay attention to that next time. Shizuku bids him goodbye and thanks him for the treat. Soon, wearing a dress with ribbons, Shizuku repeatedly exclaims, “Too cunning. Too cunning. Too cunning.” And, she shouts, “I had obviously, always been striving hard!!” Holding an apple and surrounded by exams with the grades of 100, Arabian prince Haru says, “Ah, don’t say it that way, Shizuku. For you, to do it until now, then it is okay for you to keep that kind of striving hard alone [by yourself].” Then, Shizuku wakes up from a dream. At school, kneeling down in front of rabbit mascot Shizuku, Asako clasps her hands together [<- forgive me gesture] and shouts, “I’m really sorry, Mitti..!!!” Asako explains that as 2-B class publicity group, she had decided that they will go as Wendy & Tinkerbell [from Peter Pan] but last night, the outcome had become a tragedy. Last night, Asako looked at Shizuku’s Tinkerbell outfit and thought that it will be very cute on Mitti so she decided to make it cuter by sewing something on it. She ended up pricking herself and staining the outfit so she has to wash it. While ironing it, she had burned the outfit. Thinking that she can still mend it, she spilled chocolate cocoa [drink] on it. ^^; End flashback. Asako exclaims that in short, she had ruined the outfit, so she can only temporarily ask her father to let her use that mascot[/doll] outfit that was formerly used at his company.

Title: Yuuzan-kun’s words[/view]. Flashback: At a party, young Haru said, “Hey, Yuuzan. Do you see that uncle at that side? Why is he dressed up like a peacock? It seems like an idiot.” Young Yuuzan replied, “Haha, Haru, that isn’t an uncle, that’s auntie [wife of father’s younger brother].” [Lol, over the implication of what Haru said. =P] Haru sadly said that he want to go back to Tone’s house. Yuuzan just looked at him. Blurb: “..This is Yuuzan’s memory..” Yuuzan answered, “..don’t worry, Haru. For you, I will definitely create a place where you’ll belong [/can go back to].” Narration: “Those are absolutely not empty words, but they are merely a small tiny wish in my heart when we were still kids.” At Yamaguchi General Hospital, Yuuzan walks in from the back exit. A light colored hair nurse tries to tell him that people are not allowed to go through there. A dark colored hair nurse said that it is okay if it is this guy, he is the son of the sick person in the special ward. Yuuzan smiles and apologizes for disturbing them because there are a lot of reporters at the front gate. Light colored hair girl exclaims that he’s so handsome, Yoshida-san’s son is also quite handsome. Yuuzan laughs and says that she is praising him too much, and well, he’s going ahead. The nurse is broken hearted for Yuuzan got away. Walking away, blushing Yuuzan thinks that is dangerous for he almost liked being praised that way and how come girls can easily say those kind of words. “They definitely don’t know how much guys would mind those kinds of words. How scary. Women are snakes. And, she most definitely already has a boyfriend.” In the special ward with a sign of ‘no visitors’, a stern-looking man angrily tells Yuuzan that he’s late. Yuuzan looks totally aghast to see the man holding the waist of a slightly undressed nurse. Putting her glasses and clothes on, the nurse tells Yoshida-san that she is going to call the doctor. Taizou [Haru’s father] calls out to Nurse Muuko [guesswork name from 夢子] to come back again. Sweating and aghast, Yuuzan says, “..father..do you even realize why are you here?” Taizou says that it is because of a lover problem scandal, right and this morning, the media are still investigating by breaking in the 14th ward. Blurb: “New school term. Newly back in school. New all sorts of situation in entering society.” Looking away, blushing Yuuzan says that since he himself knew, so please self-regulate himself a bit and it is even such a young girl like that. “It’s because of you that the people around you are in great confusion.” Reading the newspaper, Taizou tells Yuuzan to sit down. Yuuzan glances at his father and thinks that even if his father doesn’t directly look at him, he won’t even dare do any deep breathe[/relax] kind of thing.

Blurb: “Finally, it has arrived. This can be considered as an unanticipated start of the unfolding of the plot..?” Title: Future (career, etc) Prospects. Coming in Micchan’s apartment, Yuuzan and Andou happily exclaim that they will be intruding. Yuuzan is carrying some pizza and drinks [which he ends up eating. =P] Blurb: “It seems that Haru’s family situation is in a terrible state..” Holding up his right hand’s little finger, Andou says that in short, it is about this. [Little finger = lover] “The uproar started when the very first lover appeared. Then, one after another, they keep on appearing, and appearing. We were also quite shock for how much free time does he have anyway. Ah! In the latest news! There is a new girl that has also appeared, right? It’s girl number 12--” Micchan had just gotten out from the bath and opens up a can of beer. Aghast and uninterested Haru just opens the television and the program is about some tanuki. Yuuzan says that in short, because their father’s isn’t well, they have already forced him to be hospitalized in order to be treated. “To say it in a straightforward way, right now, our family is in the middle of a crisis.” Angry Haru asks, shouldn’t they be in the stage wherein they’ll seriously start considering neutering their father. [Lol] Getting ready to eat a pizza slice, Yuuzan says that he[/they] would have really wanted to do that. Yuuzan casually asks if they know that pizza taste better if there is honey on it. He then asks Micchan to give him some coffee. Micchan tells Möbius-sama to get it himself. Dark Haru asks Micchan why he let these guys in his house. Getting another slice of pizza, Yuuzan says that on their side, they are urgently thinking of some countermeasure in dealing with this situation, and they don’t even have time to leisurely eat like this. He also says that during this key moment, their father’s wife had a falling out[/got in a quarrel with their father] and she went back to her hometown. “And so, I’m saying.. women.. Ah.. *blushes* it is also like that girl before. Why is it that no matter where one touches women, they are so soft. And also, they always smell nice.” Taking a slice of pizza, Andou says that Yuuzan is always like that, acting like a junior high student. “Ah, speaking of that, the girl whom we met at the summer resort. Mitsuyoshi! Let me say- Actually, it is quite a waste- If it is okay that you are like this, then how would it be with me?” [<- It seems that Andou is indeed interested in Asako so he is asking Micchan of his chances with Asako since she was interested in Micchan]

It’s back to school. Friends are busy chatting with their friends. At the shoe lockers, Asako is changing her shoes. Then, she looks dark and tense. She drops her shoes in surprise when she overhears someone greeting Sasayan good morning. Blurb: “Second school term starts. The night during the summer festival, the two of them held hands as they went back-!?” Some guys are greeting Sasayan and the baseball team. Then, Sasayan notices Asako by the shoe lockers. He happily greets her a good morning and it has been a long time since the summer festival.. He didn’t finish what he is saying since Asako quickly turns to leave. Glasses friend asks Sasayan if something happened between them. With a deadpan expression, Sasayan says that he can say that. Blurb: “Second school term. What if there is a new romance that is going to sprout? What. Eh!!!??” Title: Sasayan-kun and Natsume-san [Thanks to mia_chwan, Mamuraa and shakanen for the help with the Japanese title ^^] After walking, Shizuku wonders what’s up with her that she forgot her self-study notebook. When it is about 9:28am, she goes out of her classroom to see Haru standing at the hallway. Haru happily waves at her and whispers that it is such a coincidence to meet each other while classes are still ongoing. She goes to him and asks him what he is doing. Haru whispers for her not to talk out loud because right now, he is being punished for reading a book in class. Shizuku asks what kind of book it is. Haru says that it is a long story, and because of changing seat assignments, he now sits near where Shitayanagi and others are. Flashback: Shitayanagi and others showed Haru a porn magazine and asked him which girl he likes. While building a tower with playing cards, Haru said the one in the left, the second girl. Terashima commented that Haru’s taste is good, and he also likes that one. Shitayanagi said that he likes this other one for if *beep* is a person, she would be like that. Haru said that she isn’t bad but he thinks that Shintayanagi’s way of thinking is kind of different. He also said that it seemed that Shitayanagi and others would look at this kind of extreme things, and it is such a difficult school life. Shitayanagi said that one of the baseball club members brought it, and does Haru want to see it. Surprised Haru asked if he can. While holding the porn magazine, Haru and Shitayanagi are happily laughing. Then, the displeased female teacher called out their names and asked what they are reading during class, and who brought it. To Haru’s shock, Shitayanagi said that it is Haru. End flashback.

Lying on the living room’s floor, Shizuku thinks that it can’t be helped if she can’t become friends with Yamaken. She looks at the side at laughing Haru who is watering the plants. She asks him why he is in her house everyday. Title: On the Next Summer Vacation, part 3, the last summer Blurb: “Everyone, life’s experience hurts a bit, and it makes one become mature a bit.. Although you still don’t know, but one day, you’ll definitely pass through, a beautiful [period of] time-” The cicadas are chirping. Asako is standing in front of the game center. She looks nervous. She thinks that she will do it as she practiced, just give Micchan the souvenir. She also thinks that she even wore the mature heeled sandals that she brought during the trip. She starts climbing up the stairs, and then she quickly goes down the stairs. She berates herself that it is meaningless if she just goes out. Then, Haru sees her and asks what she is doing there. Haru asks her if she wants to eat some takoyaki. He tells her that auntie [/woman owner] sold those to him even if she is researching on using ice cream during summer but it all melted. Turning to leave, Asako says that she will go home first. Haru notices the bag that she is carrying. Then, Haru asks Asako if she has finished her school work for summer. Later on, at Shizuku’s house, she asks why Haru and Asako are there. Then, she let it pass since they are studying. Reading from his notes, Haru says that they will start with mathematics, the first page’s first problem is θ = 30°+360° x n, and the answer is 150° + 360° x n. Copying what he said, Asako exclaims that she doesn’t know how to write θ. Shizuku sweatdrops and tells them that it is meaningless for them to do the schoolwork like this. Shizuku asks Haru if he has finished his homework. Haru tells her that he finished it at the start of summer vacation because it is no big deal for him. Shizuku says that his class progress is slow. He tells her that right now, he is doing the free homework of Oga-sensei’s decoration[/putting things in order]. Asako comments that Haru is more serious in that field [of beautifying the class]. It is already August, midway of a busy summer which has become a summer as it used to be [in the past]. Shizuku calls out to Takaya to help out since she is tidying up the garden. Takaya asks if it is okay, not to do it today. Fixing her hat, Shizuku tells him that it is a necessity to tidy up for Obon festival, and isn’t he going to grandma’s house. She also tells him that he should wear his hat since it is hot. After going downstairs, Takaya greets Natsume and Yoshida..then, changes it to Haru. Haru happily greets back and asks if the jam that he [Haru] got, was delicious. Asako happily tells Takaya that this will be the future, Haru will be a ‘brother’.

Cover page: “At a loss, and perplexed, even so, I will continue on moving forward to the birth of a glittering moment--” Blurb: “What’s the outcome of a tiring camping activity--!?” Iyo: “By the way, Shizuku-senpai. It’s obviously a rare color page but why is it that Iyo isn’t shown as a whole in one whole page?” Shizuku: “Because, right now, I’M the MAIN LEAD.” Title: On the Next Summer Vacation part 2 of 2 Shizuku thinks, “It has been long since we’ve been going steady. There is no worthy change worth mentioning between Haru and I, Mizutani Shizuku. Regardless of prolonging the extension line.. *pak* Grunt. On Haru’s side, what is he thinking--” Shizuku wakes upon after sleeping Ayane’s legs are on top of her. Haru is sleeping at her other side. =P Sleepy Shizuku calls out to Haru and asks why he is sleeping at this side [of the tent]. Someone thinks, “Ah, is that so. I came into the tent, huh..” Outside the tent, Sasayan and Tomio are smiling while holding fishing rods. At some waiting area where there are picnic tables, Sasayan asks Haru where he and the others went last night because since that time, they didn’t return. Scratching his head, Haru says that he didn’t know. “When I wanted to go back, I’m already down in an abyss. *points at Yamaken* It is all, that guy’s fault.” Sasayan sweatdrops and says, ‘ah’. With crossed arms, Yamaken angrily exclaims that they are meddlesome. While Tomio is yawning, Mabo puts his arm around George[/formerly Joji] and exclaims that yesterday is quite interesting since the start of the courage test-survival game last night. George flashes a v-sign because he got paired up with Asako. Blushing, Haru says that midway, in order to knock down the forest god [statue?] again, the two of them held hands. “And honestly speaking, my heart felt quite hot... Hihi and at the end, my relationship with the forest god had become quite good even if at our side, it is not that much.” Holding a croissant, Asako arrives with Iyo. Asako happily says that she bought some limited chocolate croissant which she read to be very delicious from the guidebook. Holding a tray with a couple of drinks, Iyo blushingly says that she bought vegetable juice that Haru likes. Mabo and Tomio whines to Iyo that they want to eat something too. Iyo arrogantly tells them that she’ll tear them apart, and they should shut up since they can just eat grass, so don’t order her around. Iyo starts to become nervous when Yamaken calls out her name and says that she is still here. Iyo thinks that look [of Yamaken] means ‘you are annoying, quickly go home’. Nervous teary-eyed Iyo protests that she was the one who invited these guests. While munching her croissant, Asako tells Yamaken not to bully Iyo because Iyo is her good friend, and today, they are going to have fun together. While Iyo looks touched by what Asako said, Asako points to herself and exclaims, “If you got any protests, then you’ll have to get through me, Natsume!” Yamaken looks at them and says, “Ha? ..” While drinking his juice, Haru says that is very good Natsume, and if she becomes more vicious, at the critical time, he will go and help her.

Cover page: Girls in Swimsuit. Ayako says, “Mitti, this is the first summer vacation for you guys as a couple. So let us enjoy it to the fullest.” Shizuku says, “This scene is Natsume’s own imagination so fundamentally, it has nothing to do with this chapter.” Surprised Asako exclaims, “Wait..Mitti!” Iyo thinks, “Iyo also wants to go steady with someone.” Title: On the Next Summer Vacation Part 1 of 2 Blurb: “In full swing, gradually warming up. It is high school’s second summer vacation. Using one year’s experience in all sorts of encounters the first time around, for certain, this won’t be ordinary, right!!?” With all sort of summer-type sounds, Asako stands in front of the game center. Then, she takes out her cellphone to call Haru that she has arrived. She tells him that she felt a bit hot so she is going to the nearby convenient store to wait for him. Later on, Haru and Asako are sitting on a bench in front of a baseball field. While they are happily eating their ice popsicles, Asako[?] says that Chizuru and Yuu are currently in Okinawa. “By the way, Haru, how is your summer vacation with Mitti?” Haru says that it didn’t even hit[/touch] the surface. Asako exclaims that there he goes again, and she knew that for during this time, the two of them definitely went on a date and she [Asako] is all alone. Haru mutters, “? Date? Date.. Ah ya.. Date..” Looking aghast, Asako glances at Haru and asks what’s up with him for that doesn’t seem like how he ought to respond [<- not Haru-type of response]. She also asks what’s up with that baffling hairstyle of his. [<- Haru has pulled up one side of his hair with gel] Haru says that Sasayan and others are coming out. Asako comments that she feels that everyone is going forward towards their each own respective path. Haru glances at her. Sasayan comes out and exclaims his disbelief that the two of them really came to watch him play in the practice competition. While Haru greets Sasayan, Asako says that of course, and they ought to cheer him on at least once. Sasayan apologizes that he lost in the first round. Thinking that Natsume is in casual clothes, Shitayanagi is waving at Haru from the baseball field. One of Sasayan’s friends calls out to Sasayan that it is time to assemble and line up. Sasayan asks the two where Shizuku is. Haru says that she is in cram school and today is the last day. Asako happily tells him that afterwards, she and Haru will eat kakigori [shaved ice dessert] and work on their summer vacation homework together. Sasayan asks is that so, then he’ll also join them. “Then-- just watch the competition as you please! *smiles* Watch me get a base!” Narration: “On the first day of summer vacation, Haru and I had a date.” Flashback: At the game center, Haru is playing a video game when Shizuku told him, “Because I feel that our going steady, doesn’t seem real, let’s go on a date, Haru.” Haru happily exclaimed, “That’s great--!!! I’ve always been waiting for that-!!” Micchan is looking aghast and nervous. Puzzled Shizuku says, “Is that so. Actually, you can also directly tell that to me.”

While his friends’ expressions are frozen, Yamaken tells them not to casually decide on things on someone else’s behalf, for Shizuku won’t agree to that. Then, while Asako looks nervous-aghast, Haru glances at Shizuku who also looks frozen. Sweatdropping, Haru waves his hand in front of Shizuku but she isn’t reacting. Blurb: “Fi..finally, we come to reach upon Yamaken’s true confession--!!? This chapter deserves to be paid attention to, so at least, I’ll add a few more pages to convey this to everyone!!! The moment of determining the victor approaches.” Haru freaks out when Shizuku suddenly blushes over the confession. Yamaken looks surprised by it. Both guys couldn’t believe it. Title: Heaven’s Happiness Then, to everyone’s surprise, Yamaken stands up and takes blushing Shizuku with him. He tells her to come with him for a while. After a moment of turning into stone, Haru quickly runs after them. Mabo exclaims that Haru is also going. Tomio laughs and asks what is going on, did youthfulness died among them. [<- lost of innocence?] He asks if they are also going after them, but someone calls him stupid, for they will just wait and let them also go first. At the same time, Asako has also turned around to go after them but Sasayan grabs her arm. Nervous Asako asks him why he is stopping her for that mood, no matter how she sees it, it is a confession. Sasayan asks her what she will do if she went and the one who is going to decide on this is Shizuku herself. Asako looks at him. Sasayan says that anyway, Yamaken will be rejected and because he has that AWARENESS, he couldn’t help but want an outcome to decide on who is the victor [once and for all]. In the streets, breathing hard Haru is running around. He curses and wonders where they went. He remembers Yamaken saying that it isn’t a joke, and Shizuku is blushing. Then, Haru stops running. Behind a building of the busy street, Yamaken looks out and thinks that no one is chasing after them. He wonders if Mabo and Tomio hindered the others because this is interesting for them. Shizuku is catching her breath and wonders why she has to run so fast. “Wha..what the heck is going on!? *remembers Yamaken saying that it isn’t a joke* If it isn’t a joke, then it is..!?” Shizuku asks him from since when did he have that kind of motive towards her. She is puzzled when Yamaken seems to bow over. Aghast, he tells her to please do not be so blunt for it makes him want to deny it on instinct [/reflex]. Puzzled, Shizuku apologizes that she doesn’t understand what he is talking about. She wonders what should be done now.

At a imagawayaki* store, Shizuku wonders which one to buy, the black bean filling or the white bean filling. [*Japanese dessert made of batter and filled with sweet azuki bean paste or other different kind of fillings. Source: wiki] In comparison, she likes the black bean one but the white filling has egg white added into it so it is half the price. Since a few days ago, she had spent money in celebrating Haru’s birthday, the price between the bean fillings is now a big difference for her. “At one side, choosing the one that I like. Or choosing the one that is comparatively more advantageous. Or giving up on both.” Then, Shizuku calls out to the store owner to buy one imagawayaki. At the side, Haru and Yamaken are looking at each other while waiting for Shizuku. Blurb: “Finally, it has arrived. Finally, it has happened. Finally..!? Almost time to make you guys knowledgeable of manly charm. *Cover page of Haru and Yamaken* Finally, it approaches--!!?” Title: Starting Point. Yamaken and Shizuku go inside the cram school. Yamaken exclaims in surprise about her fighting with Haru on his birthday. Shizuku says that is right for she obviously gave him a birthday cake and a gift, and yet he isn’t satisfied. “Haru is really a hard to understand person.” Shizuku thinks that if it was her, and someone said ‘Because I happen to be free’, then giving her the reference book for her birthday, she would have prefer that but then, this is something that she cannot say. [<- I think she couldn’t say it to Haru because it proves what Haru said, that she is thinking of herself]. Yamaken is irritated that Shizuku is talking about a birthday and it seems that their [S&H] progress is moving smoothly. But, in contrast to him, he couldn’t contact Shizuku on her cellphone and when he meets up with her, there is always that unwanted third guest [Haru] so there is totally no progress. And, lately, he doesn’t know whether he is calling her or calling her father..in the end, it is still the father. [<- calling at the house and the father answered?] While eating her imagawayaki, Shizuku blushes and says that lately, there is really a change with Haru for he kissed her on her cheek. Infuritated Yamaken wonders if he can also do that. He blushes upon looking at Shizuku eating. Shizuku tells him that if she thinks about it in detail, there are times when Haru says some strange things and he would snoop around outside her classroom. Then, Yamaken pulls Shizuku to him as someone almost bumps into her. Yamaken tells her to look at her surroundings while walking. Surprised Shizuku apologizes. Yamaken is irritated for he is obviously at her side. Looking at the results of the mock exam, Shizuku asks if he doesn’t have any enthusiasm but then, he never once surpassed her. Yamaken says that he isn’t a bookworm like her who studies in the wee hours of 4-5 o’ clock. Narration: “I won’t admit. Even if I don’t want to admit it, could it be that I’ll never be looked at nor treated as a man by this girl..!?”

Flashback: Dripping wet from the rain, younger Yuuzan sadly smiled at young Haru and said, “..Haru, it’s very good right. The dimwitted you, is being loved dearly. It would be good if you do not exist. I often think that way.” End flashback. Blurb: “This memory(!?) is the hindering Mashou [<- evil influence; barrier by the devil] of Haru... There’s nothing harder compared to the trigonometric function..!?” In a fastfood restaurant, Haru is reading a book while Shizuku and Yamaken are studying. Yamaken wonders out if he has to use the trigonometric function on this problem. He asks Shizuku if she has solved it. Shizuku says that she isn’t confident in solving it and just now, she tried the double angle formula but.. While still reading his book, Haru tells them, “Do it by using the double angle formula and the triple angle formula to substitute the formula of cosθ = x. Hey, compared to that topic, I don’t understand the meaning of this joke. After seeing a dump truck and saying that ‘this is your mother’, Mike should be hitting George here.” Shizuku and Yamaken angrily glare at Haru. Blurb: “Do not be all alone by yourself. Study together with others so that it will be more fun. (^-^)/” Title: First Step At the game center, Yuuzan is happily counting the money that Micchan paid him. Yuuzan says that it seems that Haru is striving hard. He was a bit worried about Haru because he isn’t in the same section as Shizuku but he is now relax since Haru is doing his best. Yuuzan adds that it isn’t good to force Haru to go back to the main house. He calls out to Andou who is eating, and says that during spring break, it was concealed from him that Haru came back. Andou says that it is because of work. Then, Andou says what kind of beef dish he loves to eat, but Yuuzan just says who cares what he likes. Micchan tells Yuuzan that it was Haru himself who wanted to go back. “Yuuzan, Haru is changing.” Yuuzan looks at him and then says that Haru is really an idiot and what is he going to change about himself. “It is because he is thinking that way that is why he is troublesome [/distressed]. *waves money* See ya.” Micchan just sighs over this. Fixing his tie, Andou asks Micchan about that female high schooler. Micchan says that he is really obscene. At school, lunch time, Asako is pouring a drink, Shizuku is reading something. Asako asks if Shizuku’s father really got a job. Shizuku tells her yes, but then, it is only for the time being because her father’s friend went on a trip, and so her father is going to tend to that family coffee shop. Asako exclaims isn’t that great. Shizuku gloomily says that compared to not working, it would be better for him to have some part time work. To Asako’s delight, Shizuku tells her that her father said to bring her and the others along there when it is convenient. Asako happily exclaims that she will go.
