By Request: Nijiiro Days [Chapter 37]

[Free talk: Request by Roka. I do not read this series but it is easy to understand without reading the previous chapters. There might be some mistakes since I don’t know what had happened. I found their names from wiki so I hope I got them right. So, here goes:  ]

Mari asks Tomoya what would change if she told him. Tomoya replies that perhaps, there will be. Turning around, Mari insists that there won’t be even if she tells him now and it is really of no use. Holding a box, she says that compared to that, she wants to buy souvenirs for Anna. Tomoya asks why and how would she know that it is of no use if she won’t tell him. Irked Mari says that he’s really slow-witted and it is because how can she say it out with those people around. She is referring to the two other guys. To her irritation, Tomoya says that she is saying that she wants to be alone with him. He says that he isn’t such a good kid like Natsuki for he doesn’t follow school rules, sloppy and not good in showing restraint. Just when Mari shouts what about it..he grabs her wrist and says that the two of them should be alone for a while. And, to her surprise, he pulls her away. She tries to protest and tell him to let her go but it is futile. After buying stuff, the two guys look for Tomoya and Natsuki. Tsuyoshi gets a message from Tomoya that he is going on a date with Mari while Natsuki went to see Anna so he’ll leave the rest to them. The other girls say that they are going to some other place but where are those two guys.

Keiichi whispers to Tsuyoshi to make up some excuse. Tsuyoshi says that it seems that they are spirited away. Keiichi says that’s right, they suddenly vanished. The girl asks if no one told them that their level of lying really stinks. Meanwhile, Anna has finished eating lunch. The teacher asks if she still has a fever. Anna says that it is gone after she drank medicine. The teacher says that’s great. She asks what are her plans since there is still time for free activity. Even if she thinks that Anna should rest and shouldn’t force herself but today is the last day. Anna says that she’ll go and she thinks that she is fine. She tells the teacher that in a while, she’ll also meet up with her groupmates. The teacher says is that so, then if she doesn’t feel well then come back [to rest]. Anna thanks the teacher. Preparing to leave, the teacher says that there’s no need and she just go and have fun. After putting on her jacket and fixing herself up a bit, Anna is relieved that she feels well now. She tells herself that she must definitely go, and she must perk herself up [/buck up]. While running, Natsuki finds Anna’s room. Before opening the door, he decides to send a message first because she might be still sleeping. He is startled when Anna comes out of the room.

Anna asks why he is there. He says that he came to visit her and she is..? She says that she is alright already and she is going out now. Thinking that he’s late, Natsuki says is that so, that’s great, she has recovered that she can go outside. She asks how come he knew she is resting here. He tells her that Mari told him. She asks if he specially rushed over here. He says yes. She looks gloomy and says is that so..thank you but it is already alright. She turns around and says that she’s going, see you.. He tells her to wait for she shouldn’t know that right now, Mari is currently with his group so they should go together. Still looking gloomy, she turns to the side and says okay.. Natsuki thinks that he always felt that she is gloomy and in the end, it is because she isn’t feeling well or it is because she is still..about what happened yesterday.. Soon, at the bus stop, Natsuki is checking which bus they are going to ride. A couple of tourists try to ask them the way. Natsuki apologizes to them for they also didn’t know the place well enough because they are not locals here. They apologize to them for they thought that they are local high school lovers.

Natsuki blushes over this. He is quite happy until he notices gloomy Anna. He wanted to correct the tourists but they already left. He tries to laugh it off to Anna about being mistaken for locals but Anna is silent. He talks about being mistaken for lovers, he wasn’t able to correct it and they look like they are going steady. Since she isn’t reacting, he wonders what he is saying and even if he said that, it won’t cheer her up. Anna apologizes to him for making people be mistaken [about their relationship] because he is with her. He tells her that it is totally no problem. He thinks that he should say that he is happy that they were mistaken as lovers for he always hope that they can develop into that kind of relationship. He wonders if he can say it. He recalls Mari telling him to first not tell Anna about it..please.. This made Natsuki stop himself and tell Anna that it isn’t something that she must apologize to him and he should be the one who should say sorry. Natsuki thinks that he didn’t realize before how painful it is to want to say something but he couldn’t say it. Soon, they are riding the bus. He continues to think that it is such a simple thing yet as matters stand, he experienced how painful it is and obviously she is so near. He bites his lips and wonders what he came to do here.. He tells her that next time, he’ll wait when she has time and he hopes that she can listen to what he wants to say.. She says yes..next time.

Natsuki thinks that it is only up to that kind of degree and Mari should forgive him, right.. Meanwhile, while riding a rickshaw with gloomy Mari, Tomoya wonders if things progressed smoothly with Natsuki. The rickshaw driver asks if his friend also came here. Tomoya says that’s right, they moved separately. The driver says that it’s quite nice being in a school trip. After Tomoya told him where to go, Mari angrily asks what he is doing. Tomoya says that he always wanted to try riding a rickshaw once. Mari shouts that she isn’t asking why they are riding it. Tomoya says that he saw one yesterday and thought that it isn’t bad. Then, he comments about how dark the driver’s tan is and would it look good on him. Mari shouts who cares about him. Then, they arrive at their destination. He says let’s go. She exclaims where are they going and does he have any intention of listening to her when the others aren’t here. He says that even if he’ll listen to her but didn’t she say that she is going to buy a souvenir for Anna. She says that it isn’t only for Anna. Tomoya says then, for her family. With sparkles, Tomoya says that he’ll also buy something for Nozomi. Mari tells him to also buy for the parents.

Tomoya tearfully says but compared to him, Nozomi would wish that Keiichi gives her something. Mari thinks that he really doesn’t listen to her. Mari says that he really dotes on his younger sister. Tomoya says because she’s so cute even if lately, she entered the rebellion stage. Mari says that she really doesn’t understand because as a brother, even if his relationship seems to be very good but in the end, he’ll be the first to run somewhere else. Tomoya says that her and her brother’s age gap is a bit big so it is inevitable. Mari says that it has nothing to do with that for the person she likes will totally discard her and run somewhere else. Tomoya says that it isn’t so. Mari angrily says that it is, so she’s saying it!! Tomoya says no, he isn’t saying about that, for she is very cute and honestly, she should be very popular. She angrily says that she isn’t popular and speaking of that, that kind of guys make her really furious and she hates them so she doesn’t want them since there is not one decent person. He asks why she always says it that way. [<- pessimistic] She exclaims that so many things like that had happened before. He asks if it is during the time when he doesn’t know. She angrily shouts that it is during elementary, got any objections?!! Tomoya thinks that is quite a long time already.

Mari says that guys are really boring [/nonsense] and girls are very annoying. Thinking that she is saying that everything is no good, Tomoya asks then, what is good. She mentions a certain name [昌] and says that it is only her older brother who isn’t the same. He is always quite kind..the same with Anna..so she really likes. And, Mari recalls about being a strong type ever since before but a lot more compared now. Flashback: Using a friend’s curling iron, her brother had curled Mari’s ponytails. Young Mari is really amazed. She asked him if it suits her and is she cute. He said that it really suits her and she’s cute like a doll. She proudly marched to school for her brother said that she is cute and maybe next time, she’ll ask their mother to buy a curling iron for her. At school, a couple of boys commented about her hair and said that it doesn’t suit her. They started to pull her ponytail and play around with it. She shouted for them to stop for it hurts. When the boy said that she is going to cry over that, Mari furiously slapped his hand away. They start to say that she’s violent and scary when they are only teasing her. She’s not cute at all. Then, in class, some girls gang up on Mari saying that she was wrong for hitting someone.

The girl leader has a good relationship with the other boy. Even if Mari wants to be fashionable but that is too much. Girl leader suits that kind of hairstyle so it is okay for her. Mari asked why they would say that when he was the one who pulled her hair. The girl leader said that as her friend, she’s saying that. They forced her to let down her hair for trying to be more attractive than girl leader. At home, Mari hides inside the blanket when her brother called out for her to eat. He asked if she has a stomachache. She sat up. He asked what happened to her hair which is all messy. She said that there are some reasons that it became like that. When he asked about those reasons, she refused to tell him. She apologized to her brother when it is rare for him to help her fix her hair. He patted her head and asked why she is apologizing. Next time, he can help her do it at any time so she doesn’t have to bear it herself and just immediately tell him if something happened. She happily said okay, thanks!! “Mari..likes brother the most♡” She thinks that only her brother stands at her side and he is the only one who can understand her.
