Kimi ni Todoke [Chapter 103]

While holding each other’s hands, Sawako says that she’ll properly think about the college issue. He says okay and that it is definitely not at all such a complicated thing. He assures her that it is alright for she is always deciding on it for her own. Holding her hand tighter, he says that it is also no problem even if she’s by herself. This surprises her. He tells her that if she feels uneasy then it is okay for her to say it out. She smiles and says yes..that’s right.. She wonders if this is really not quite a complicated thing, and if she feels uneasy? She looks at him and asks how come based on the tone of his voice, this thing has already been decided. She tells him that this is very complicated and it isn’t simple at all. “Do you think that I should go to Normal University..?” Shouta becomes flustered and quiet. Then, he says that it is because didn’t she already decided on it. This surprises Sawako that she asks why and she is just about to confront.. Shouta says that she looks like she really wants to go so she is concentrating that much with her studies. As she tries to explain, Shouta lets go of her hand and says that he thinks that it is good for her to decide on her own. To his surprise, Sawako exclaims so she’s saying that she still haven’t decided!!

Back in Ryu’s room, Ryu is still happily stuffing himself with onigiri. Ayane asks if that was Sawako’s voice just now. Chizuru mutters what’s Shouta is doing, he’s really hopeless. Back outside, Sawako tells him that studying is her everyday habit! The reason why she proposed that they don’t meet in the morning is because she’s worried about him! “I always want to go in the same college with you. ..Because I’m very scared. Everyone going on their own separate ways when obviously, I wanted to forever keep how things are right now. I don’t want.. to separate from anyone. I don’t want to separate from you. The people I treasure.. all of them are leaving me..” She thinks that for the first time, she had important friends and got an important boyfriend. Looking flustered, Shouta shouts that he is saying that they are not leaving her and there’ll be no problem!! “Didn’t I say it? I don’t plan on leaving you. Could it be that you think we are ‘breaking up’? Don’t you trust me? Don’t you trust everyone?” Shaking her head, teary-eyed Sawako says no..she trusts them but.. Shouta asks but what!? She says that it is because he is already filled with things that she doesn’t understand. She didn’t know that he said ‘don’t belittle people’, and it turns out to mean that. Somewhat embarrassed, he says no..that is..

Sawako says that it is because he didn’t talk with her about himself. He always have a thoughtful expression.. It seems more natural when he and Chizuru or perhaps Kent..or perhaps everyone else. Shouta says that is inevitable..but does he have a thoughtful expression. Sawako says that he does and when he is with others, he’s more carefree but with her, he is very gloomy! Shouta asks, gloomy..? Sawako exclaims very gloomy! And she is definitely right in saying it as she is the byword of the word ‘gloomy’. Shouta says then, he’ll say it, “Go take the exam! To Normal University!! It is better for you to take the exam! Absolutely!! Don’t mind me already!!” Meanwhile, dragging Ryu out, Chizuru follows Ayane and asks why she is carrying her bag. Ayane says that she wants to buy some black tea. Ryu whines why he also have to.. Chizuru says that he isn’t doing anything and perhaps, Shouta is being fickle. While Ryu gloomily thinks of his onigiri, Chizuru exclaims that she is responsible if her underling did something. Ayane says that it turns out that Shouta is her underling. Then, they notice Pin eavesdropping at the couple from the corner. Ayane asks him what Pin is doing. Pin is startled and says it’s them.

He explains that it is because there are a couple of lovers over there so he came over to disrupt them. But, he couldn’t determine if they are flirting or quarrelling so he doesn’t know when to come out..and besides, those two.. The two girls are shock that the couple isn’t in a dispute but are flirting!? Back to the couple, Shouta tells Sawako not to think about him, and he also won’t decide his future prospect [/work] based on her. It is also alright for him if he separated from her! Thinking he[?] definitely had thought about that kind of thing, Sawako exclaims that she also have her own feelings..!! Starting to cry, she asks how can she not care about him and is he pretending to be mature..? Shouta says that for her to say that he’s pretending mature..he is.. They were surprised when Pin suddenly grabs Sawako’s wrist and says too bad, it’s time out!! Looking at his watch, Pin says that they should go home already and it ends up to here. Shouta exclaims what Pin is doing. To Shouta’s shock, Pin says that he thinks that Sawako wins it by 7 over 5 so work hard next time, young master!! The follow-up will be held at some other time and they just prepare when it will be held for he’s also very busy. Shouta exclaims who’ll call him.

Sawako is thinking if she won but then, she doesn’t at all want to win.. Her friends ask what’s going on, are they quarrelling. Sawako is surprised that she asks if they are quarreling just now when she doesn’t plan on it being like that. She wanted to establish a new relations with him.. To her surprise, Pin and the guys are already leaving. Pin tells them to hurry home. Sawako tearfully mutters that Shouta is a big idiot. Her friends perk up and ask if she is going to scold Shouta then, they’ll hear it out, speak up, speak up. Sawako immediately denies it by saying that she said was mistaken. After getting his bag, Shouta apologizes to Ryu for the trouble on his thank you party. Starting to eat onigiri again, Ryu says that it is okay. Recalling what Sawako told him whether he is pretending to be mature, don’t want to separate and have her own feelings, he thinks that he also have. He mutters what’s up with that, Sawako’s a big idiot. He snaps out of it and notices that Ryu is looking at him. Ryu just smiles while eating. That made Shouta at a loss on how to explain that. So, that day, they went home separately on the day when they are all together at Ryu’s place for the first time, so, it’s quite the same yet totally not the same. Looking up the sky, she thinks that they quarreled and why did it become like that when she is obviously thinking of him and he is obviously thinking of her which caused him to say that. She becomes tense for she said that he’s very gloomy. It seems like she herself wasn’t able to understand the feelings that came out. But those are her true words.

And, it is announced that summer vacation starts tomorrow. After Pin dismisses the class, Chizuru says that she has to go to work first so Sawako go and quickly reconcile with Shouta. She’ll contact her from time to time. Then, she meets up with Ryu and found out that he’ll be going to Sapporo tomorrow. While Ayane stands beside her, Sawako is thinking on how to approach Shouta who is already looking at her. Then, Kent puts his arm around Shouta and asks what’s going on, he looks so gloomy at the start of summer vacation. And what’s up with them two girls, ah, he knows, they had a dispute. There’s no response so Kent asks no way..he guessed it? Shouta angrily tells Kent to come over here and go a bit far from him [<- since Kent is putting his arm around him]. Sawako is shock that Shouta had left. Pin happily asks Ayane what’s up with those two, are they quarrelling again today. Ayane says no, they weren’t able to say a single word and since they have to go to cram class, they shouldn’t be quarreling for today but then, it is not definite. Pin shouts for Sawako to strike while the iron is hot and listen well, in one burst, go for a specially big homerun and get rid of Shouta!! Pin bids them goodbye and tells Sawako that when she is going to get rid of him, call him!! While Sawako is muttering that she isn’t going to get rid of Shouta, Ayane tells her not to mind Pin and don’t call him.

Ayane glances at Pin and says ‘good work’ on the competition. He smiles back and says ya. She blushes a bit. She snaps out of it when Sawako is muttering about reconciling. Ayane suggests that Sawako to tell her about it in detail even if she doesn’t know if she can be of help to her or not. Sawako thanks her. Somewhere else, Kent laughs in disbelief over what happened and says that Shouta is quite capable and it serves him right. Shouta asks ha!? Kent laughs and says that he’s teasing him and he immediately took it seriously. He tells Shouta that only few people can say those words to honest Sawako and he had unexpectedly provoked her to anger, he’s so mean. Shout asks why he is so mean, and what does he know. To Shouta’s shock, Kent says that it is because he did the same thing that Shouta did. That was a blow to Shouta. Kent says that he didn’t listen to the other person, and immediately formed his own conclusion that provoked her to anger. Kent tells him to start calling him senpai. Kent says that it is possible that he is a bit better than Shouta since he said his true words. He tells Shouta that if the boyfriend would only mention of some scenarios, the girlfriend will definitely become uneasy. [In saying his true words], it will make the other person believe that he isn’t being forced to do something. It would seem that Shouta is thinking of the other party but actually, inside, he is only thinking of himself! While walking with Ayane, Sawako wonders where are Shouta’s true words. It is their first quarrel and they have not reconciled. And, the last summer vacation has arrived.

Comment: And when this two have a conflict, it can really drag on like what happened during the confession, or the first kiss... It does seem that Shouta has a tendency to do things contrary to what he really feels and thinks, out of consideration for Sawako and what’s best for her. During this kind of times, they usually need interventions but in the end, I’m sure they’ll sort this out by themselves as usual. Hopefully, they don’t spend too much time on quarrel mode and miss the high school memories that they could still be making together especially this is their last summer vacation. Scans by 夜莺工作室
